Slow console to Win2008 R2 to ESX 4.1?

When you use a Windows 2008 R2 client on a host ESX 4.1, I get graphics and the mouse very slow during setting to the console of the virtual machine. Typical what he looks like without Vmware Tools installed.

However, tools are installed and updated. I also tried to increase the memory of the graphics card for the virtual machine from 8 MB to 32, but no change.

If access to via RDP graphic design seems good though. That's the way it should be done, but is it not possible to get good performance from the console of the vSphere Client too?

These two VMware KB articles should solve the problem:

I had a problem with a generator and the power lost to one of my data centers.  When the site is back the ESX 3.5 server started before the SAN be ready to present LUNS to the ESX Server.  Therefore ESX server could not automatically start the server VM to comments from the data store was not available.  I was able to just scan the HBA, and then put on the server hosts with no problems.  If this happens again I want the ESX Server to wait an additional 5 minutes at start-up to allow the SAN compleley come and do the avialable LUN auto start the guests.  Does anyone know how to change the default timer on the initial splash screen in ESX to allow extra time for other devices to come online before the start of ESX?

    Thank you

You can do your ESX waiting a little bit more time before it start to begin your kernel by setting the timeout to config(/boot/grub/grub.conf) GRUB bootloader. By default must be within 10 seconds. Just simply wait for your San is ready.

  • Very slow WebLogic administration console in a strange behavior

Hi, I am facing a problem where the weblogic administration console becomes very slow, here is the scenario:

    * I have 3 servers managed in my environment, 1 server is a loadbalancer using servlet cluster weblogic, 2 other servers are in a cluster where

1 server is in the same physical machine as the server administrator and the other on another Machine

so now THAT if I stop the 2nd managed server is on another machine, the administration console becomes very slow, it takes like 30 seconds to load any section.

    I use the Weblogic Server 10.3.6 & ADF 11.1.2.4.0

    Help, please.

    Hello

Administration console WebLogic Server 10.3.6 becomes slow when a managed server is disconnected from the network, because the ServerLifeCycleRuntime does not wait times.

It is recorded in the published 14295772 vice - WEBLOGIC 10.3.6 SLOW CONSOLE - SERVERLIFECYCLERUNTIME no IS NOT TAKING THE WAIT times

Please, ask for the patch number 14295772, so that the administration console does not slow down for answer in case one of the host machines is achieved.

Then, you must set the following parameters:

    (1) in mydomain > Configuration > General > Advanced page

    Invocation seconds Timeout: 2

    (2) in the administration Console, on the preferences page > shared Preferences (Tab)

    Timeout operation management: 5

  • Questions about the firewall Console of service

    1. in some documents for ESX 4 it is worth noting that the firewall uses the default settings, which should mean that incoming and outgoing sessions must be explicit 'high security' allowed. This is perfect, but I wonder: I do not see anywhere that I can put a few "medium security" level or similar, so my question is if it was something that could be done in older versions of ESX and the names have been deleted?

    2. is it true that the firewall settings that I see in the vSphere Client is not really all parameters? I don't see any reference to tcp/443 for example and I don't think that ports 902/903 are there either. What about ICMP? Is that so many rules that could cause big problems if disabled incorrect is hidden for the user?

    3. in ESX 4 firewall seems to be quite autoconfiguration, as in if I activate the client iSCSI, that the rules are changed automatically. New behavior in 4.0, it was is different in earlier versions?

Fix. There are default ports that are open by default with high security. See Firewall Service Console Configuration

I can't tell you how it was in earlier versions. Those that I know that the necessary configurations are completed automatically. Only applications 3 - rd party (such as HP management agents) had to configure their settings individually.

  • ESX 4.1 and ESXi4.1 - Dell management tools

OK, so what I understand starting with ESX 4.1 there is no console service, correct?

So if we are moving from 4.0 to 4.1 to just install ESXi now that comes preinstallled with Dell management tools or keep with ESX 4.1?  If so, how do install us these tools once the console service disappeared?

    Hello.

OK, so what I understand starting with ESX 4.1 there is no console service, correct?

The service console is still there in ESX 4.1.  This will be the last version of the product to be shipped with the service console.

So if we are moving from 4.0 to 4.1 to just install ESXi now that comes preinstallled with Dell management tools or keep with ESX 4.1?

It boils at ease you are away of ESX and passes with ESXi and perhaps how much you rely on the service console.  On the operational level, things are different.  Do you have other agents or applications that require the service console?

If so, how do install us these tools once the console service disappeared?

For Dell boxes, you download Dell OpenManage Offline and VIB for ESXi group and then manage it remotely.  You use the vSphere CLI or vMA to install the bundle VIB offline.

    Good luck!

  • Issue between Cisco and ESX switch

It is a small deployment with an ESX Server running a Windows Small Business SERVER 2003.

ESX server has 2 network cards, previously a NIC was connected to a small FastEthernet Switch netgear and all workstations have been working on it.

I replaced the netgear with a Cisco WS-C2960S-24TS-S and the field still works fine, the problem is that I can't connect to the service console or the VI client from a computer connected to the switch.

I can't ping the IP switch ESX service console and also can not ping the switch since the service console.

Switch and ESX console can ping the Windows Virtual Machine and the virtual machine can ping both of them. Therefore, I can get to the VI client via Wirtual Machine (not the best scenario to manage one of its right VMS ESX host?)

I don't know what the problem is, but it sounds a lot there is a problem with the configuration of port / vlan on the cisco switch.

Can a Cisco expert help out me here?

Here are some details of the configuration.

Port group service Console and the port Vm group do not use no matter what config VLAN on the ESX Server.

    Thank you

I think I've seen this before. I'm not super familiar with this switch, but I think that the problem is with cisco-computer office macro.

Try using the macro switch cisco instead since you are addressing a vSwitch on the other end. You can always check the mac address table and see if your Mac to the vswif (service console) make their appearance. If they are not then appear this is an inconsistency in the port between the Cisco Switch and vSwitch.

  • Slow performance of ethernet

I have a HP Proliant DL160 G5 server.  I just installed ESXi 4.0.  I created a data store and creates an iso file.  My Windows system, I downloaded an iso image (about 700M) on the server.  It took almost 4 minutes.

The ethernet port on the server is a gigabit link.  It is connected to a gigabit switch and the switch light is green indicating that it is gigabit mode.

If I try to copy/paste from another machine on my network from my office (both 1 G ethernet) the same files takes about 20 to 30 seconds.

Proliant machine has 2 x 1 G ports on this subject and I tried the test on both.  They are both slow.

I decided whether it is hardware or software, so I have loaded Ubuntu on a usb drive and started the Proliant from there.  I tried a copy/paste of file for the Proliant now on Ubuntu and it filled in less than 30 seconds.  This proved to me that material was working at full capacity and that my slow ethernet was a problem of ESX.

Someone at - he saw something like this or have any suggestions on the parameters of that might have some effect on the performance (or lack of)?

    -Dan

This controller is what?  The BBWC is absolutely essential to the functioning with RAID since ESX ESX must ensure that virtual machines that drive is physically carried out during the race VM think they are - in other words, it is absolutely not write implementing caching in ESX.  As a result, there is a sentence huge writing - read the Strip, update the block, write the block x number of blocks per allocation.  Not good - say < 5 MB/s, where the same table with BBWC would make 80 MB/s.

Could be interesting to test a download from the server as well.

Also, make sure you bear settings are auto/auto and the switch is so as well.

Normally u provide an IP address from the service console during the installation of ESX. Isn't u done this?

You don't need an IP address to connect fibre channel SAN!

There u will find all necessary information on how to configure the networking, SAN, ESX Server and so on

  • Concerns of servcie performance with connections "Console Mode" Console

What is the maximum number of connections "VM console" can support a single ESX Server?

Can what steps I take to ensure performance as the number of users swings more than 150 at the same time?

: Pei no, I can't use remote, VNC, etc. already tried desktop. Corp Policy says nothing.

from my understanding, and I'm wrong, because I have never really tested. The guide I posted is said:

Number of remote consoles to a virtual machine 10

then, as the SSH for the COS connections may have a connection as well max, I think that a single remote console on a virtual machine would always to 10 simultaneous connections.
