ESX 4.1 and ESXi4.1 - Dell management tools

OK, so what I understand starting with ESX 4.1 there is no console service, correct?

So if we are moving from 4.0 to 4.1 to just install ESXi now that comes preinstallled with Dell management tools or keep with ESX 4.1?  If so, how do install us these tools once the console service disappeared?

Hello.

OK, so what I understand starting with ESX 4.1 there is no console service, correct?

The service console is still there in ESX 4.1.  This will be the last version of the product to be shipped with the service console.

So if we are moving from 4.0 to 4.1 to just install ESXi now that comes preinstallled with Dell management tools or keep with ESX 4.1?

It boils at ease you are away of ESX and passes with ESXi and perhaps how much you rely on the service console.  On the operational level, things are different.  Do you have other agents or applications that require the service console?

If so, how do install us these tools once the console service disappeared?

For Dell boxes, you download Dell OpenManage Offline and VIB for ESXi group and then manage it remotely.  You use the vSphere CLI or vMA to install the bundle VIB offline.

Good luck!

    Hi all!

I'm testing a move of VMWare vCenter server for my organization and I am running into a problem.

In my test environment, I have a Supermicro H8DME-2 motherboard with a Raid SAS LSI 9261 - 8i on that controller.  I currently have 2x750GB Sata in Raid 1 drives configured on the LSI controller.

VSphere health now, reports that everything is perfect, especially when I pull on one of the hard drives.

My problem is my ability to rebuild the table if I replace a drive.  I do not see this feature within vSphere (and I am not advanced to vCenter again, although I intend to do).  I was hoping to get LSI MSM installed, but I get an error.

I installed MSM 8.00 - 05 website of LSI and used the vmware installation script.  I opened the ports required in the firewall of ESX.  I loaded the MSM client on either a guest on the ESX host or on my own machine and I am able to login and connect to the server.

Loads of everything and I have just enough time to just a few clicks (about 20 seconds) until I lose the connection to the server.  After that, I can't reconnect unless I go to the server console and the show

    /etc/init.d/vivaldiframeworkd restart

.  Then I can connect again, but only for 20 seconds.

For this reason, I can't manage my server, for example a range of gradients or the configuration of a new table, without having to reboot the host, which is an unacceptable solution.

If I have a ssh connection open to the server when the frame falls down, I get a few terminals output.  It is:

    # * glibc detected *... / JRE/bin/Java: double free or corruption (! prev): 0x081d2d40 *.

Can someone point me to a solution?  I can't imagine that it is a new show, while everyone else is doing when they need to rebuild a table?

    Thank you!

CIM LSI modules should be in the standard installation of ESXi. They will give you basic followed the vSphere client. Reconstruction of the tables would not be a part of that. I go back to ESXi 4.0 and try everything that is available for LSI specifically for ESXi. If the controller supports relief, you can simply add another drive.

I don't know what can be available with the controller of the motherboard Supermicro (IPMI) but you can check this.

  • [Beginner] Reference Dell Audio and SD Realtek Audio Manager

    Hello world!

A few days ago, I bought my first Dell: it's an Inspiron 15 3537. So far so good. Installed Windows 7 64 bit and some drivers, including ALC3223 Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver. Now, the sound is perfect when it's speakers, but all the times that no matter what sound plays on the helmet (the portable computer has a combo Jack), he is very strong and there is a unpleasant noise. If there is no sounds play, after a few seconds, the noise stops. (edit) The gentle sound remains the same regardless of the volume and does not grow stronger if the volume is turned up.

I tried to adjust things in the sound menu, searched for solutions online and my best bet would have been accessing the Realtek audio Manager.

But after installing the latest driver Realtek, I get only Audio from Dell, and it isn't much help. Looking for a Realtek in the control panel or in folders only leads to the Audio from Dell. Here, I discovered why the strange whistling sound in the headphones will stop when no sounds are played, but I can't find anything to make the noise go away:

What the Dell? While I hoped something like this (taken from the internet):

So, can someone tell me why my laptop is Dell Audio when I install Realtek driver? Can I "non-Dell' Realtek Audio Manager on my laptop? And suggestions to reduce the background noise in the headphones?

Hello. Dell and Realtek replaced the DD Realtek Audio Manager with Dell's Audio Manager on Dell laptops. I don't know why. The DD Realtek Audio Manager can provide a separate headphone and speakers, volume control while the Dell version can not. Several people have reported that even when they download & install a driver directly from Realtek site, Dell Manager returns. I do not know how to defeat that (I don't have Realtek on my laptop and not the one who has it posted a method).

You can use an online with the headphone volume control. My Latitude with IDT is not the problem of the headphone volume a lot of laptops from Realtek, but I use Koss control just because it's convenient. It's a short extension for headphones with a cursor of volume built in mitigation.

Regarding the drivers, Dell has only one for your model out for Win7. The only other drivers Realtek would be on the Realtek site. You can also use the native Windows audio driver. To switch to it from the Realtek, follow these steps:

    1. open Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the start search box and press ENTER).
    2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3 Select this option to "Update driver software".
    4. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    5. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
    6. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.
    7. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio"(native driver).
    8. click on "next".
    9. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).
10 restart the portable computer if you are prompted. If not invited, so no need to restart.
[To return to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 1-6.]

If you still get the hissing or background noise with the native driver, then it is almost certainly in the material. If the noises disappear when you use the native driver, then they are caused by the driver from Realtek.

  • Very slow start and run for Dell Inspiron 6400 XP times

"I have a problem with an Inspiron 6400 brought to ' horribly slow start and run time.  XP Pro 32 bit SP3 patched up to date.  Cleaned up a lot of "undesirable", as the partially uninstalled programs, cleaned the files temporary etc. with CCleaner, cleaned and optimized the registry afer all the cleaning has been done, defragmented, tried to start without any of the boot files, disabled all unnecessary services and uninstalled virus checking software, (but ran several anti-virus controls) etc. - no help.   Safe Start Mode is faster, but... not at all normal - 1 1/2 minutes of screen to logon instead of close to 3 minutes.  A lot of memory (2 GB), which rises to 600 to 700 MB runnng all the stuff I've tried.  Hard drive is 1/3 used out of 120 GB with a 2 GB swap file.

One thing I'm still scratching my head over - beyond the horribly slow boot - is very slow access to files even though everything seems to work normally, but as molasses in January.  Looking at the performance of the Task Manager tab when I run a copy of a file (whether via a cmd window or with Windows Explorer), I see a near max processor would be and the other with a small business.  Even if the customer says he had been getting worse for some time, after checking and cleaning of all things 'normal', my next thought was perhaps a bad disk or disk controller driver, but chkdsk ran very well (although it took hours) even if I ' d I have already updated all drivers (and even the DVD firmware and BIOS) on the Dell web site.  Oh, and I ran Dell Diagnostics (from bootable CD) updates all with no errors found.  And access to the slow file even with symptoms had max-processor occur with a copy of the file on a USB key that seems to eliminiate the hard disk, the disk controller and the pilot.

The other interesting part of the display for a file copy task manager is that the processes tab simply shows System Idle 97 to 99%, with a percentage of casual for other processes as Explorer while I see 1 max out procesor on the performance tab.  That the same copy on your desktop shows 3-4% of the CPU usage and who is with active antivirus software.  I'm almost ready to fall toward a Windows reinstall, but would like to find the real reason behind this problem of puzzle...

It of almost as if he's using PIO instead of DMA disk access, but... don't know how/where to test this.

    Look at:
    and

Solved!   Thanks for the links, especially to each other.  An old but still a goodie!

For those who have enquring spirits (and anyone else who stumbles across this thread), the primary IDE controller has been set to PIO and locked it.  Who would have thought that Windows slowly reduced the transfer speed, whenever he saw 6 errors on an IDE device until it has been reduced to PIO and then he locked it?  But the procedures described in the link of winhlp.com showed how to solve the problem.

There are actually several problems that led to the final symptoms.  According to KB817472, the Atapi.sys has been improved in XP SP2 only degrade the speed of transfer on 6 consecutive errors instead of 6 cumulative errors.  And even though everything I have (Microsoft update) was seen and showed that this area was to SP3, I found that the driver for the controller layer IDE was the SP2 version.  Someone ran sfc previously perhaps?

Oh, and I know now that the Task Manager process tab does not time processor kernal, but the performance tab.  Good to know...

Thanks again to all who have responded.  Starting at the time of connection-question now is 40 seconds.   You'll love Untra DMA mode 5.   There is still a lingering question in my mind, since I've had the same symptoms of slow copy of a file on a flash drive.  Perhaps a link in some way to the way that Windows treats a flashdrive as a "drive"...

Your system could be achieved a malware.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Some malicious software is aware of the methods you're most likely to use to find and remove it (Task Manager, System Restore, command prompt, Internet, Google, etc.)

The malware does not allows you to use things like the Task Manager to find and remove, so it prevents them from becoming a process running on the system and the process will not start or the process will be completed as soon as it is launched.

The malware is happier when he let you think you need to use system restore, a repair install or reinstall your XP from scratch to fix your system when none of this is necessary.

You can fool the malware (and then fix it).

Assuming that your Windows is installed on your drive C, using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder c:\windows\system32 and locate taskmgr.exe.

Copy the taskmgr.exe file and rename the copy something malicious software will not recognize.  I like to call the copy:

    c:\windows\system32\jose.exe

Double-click on jose.exe and see if the Windows Task Manager window opens now.

The problem is the malware won't let the taskmgr.exe a running process, but he does not know jose.exe as a running process in order to thwart you all (I have a feeling that he will well a day on jose.exe).

Will not 'fix' your task manager, but at least you will know whether or not the Task Manager mechanism works (taskmgr.exe still not start properly).  If you try to remove some malware and the need to use the Task Manager, you can simply launch jose.exe (double-click) instead, but will be still infected your system.

Usually, there are a few other things that also don't work you would like to know later, so I recommend you do this:

Reduce the risk of malware by running some scans.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs can solve any problems:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

It can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, restart, test your task manager and we can repair any other pending issues.

If things look good, you can delete the c:\windows\system32\jose.exe file.

    Hello

Your question I know that some of these methods is not available now, however, all
Convenience store is included just in case where win you some access as you try to solve the problem.

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel - device
Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - then right click
on devices and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
CTRL + ALT + DELETE and on the tab process EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a
Google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these cover a wide

If necessary and you can access all ordinary Windows.

You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully save programs and data) or a repair installation
(if all goes well, the data records and need to reinstall programs). Be sure to do a good backup or three.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own

    On-site upgrade

If nothing works, you can make a repair facility that must save the data but you will need to
Reinstall the programs. This also requires correct Vista disks especially for OEM versions. You will be

  • Secure latitude E6420 DELL Manager

Hi guys I am having a problem with my laptop. It has been updated using drivers dell and apps that correspond to the service tag and everything worked fine until I restarted today and now a password is requested on the bios screen before I can go further. I don't have a password on my OS or my bios but this secure Dell Manager must have chosen a default one in my name. Now that I can't enter anything, it does not start from CD drive or usb just on the screen of the bios password. I tried almost everything I could think of. I removed the cmos battery. Tried various passwords by default possible and nothing. I don't really want to try to short-circuit the memory nvram chip, too much can go wrong with a stripped down laptop power, and even then it might not work. Any help at all would be really appreciated.

OK update for anyone interested. I have been unable to source any help for this and conversations with Dell where unproductive. The only safe option, I had was to replace the motherboard. Then against this option, I decided there was nothing to lose by trying to reset the nvram chip.

The most irritating part is hoping that you detect the chip before complete disassembly disassembly is reached. I found the flea when ideally placed under the keyboard and are easily accessible. There are 2 x 8 pins winbond chips side by side 25Q16CVsig and 25Q64CVSIG, the 8 MB that I focused was the 25Q64CVSIG of chip of 8 MB. If you look to the top of the datasheet of the component, you will see pins 5 and 6 are signals CLK Serial Data In, these are the 2 that short pins must be. If you don't know what PIN is that, if you look at the chip, you will see a circular impression on the face of the chip, this indicates pin1 and the increment of numbers in a movement to the right anti.

First thing I did was to reconnect the drives and everything you have also disconnected and then I tried a normal startup to make sure that everything is properly connected and you will notice the secure Dell Manager is always appearing. Now reboot and while restarting connect a small wire or loose piece of solder between the 2 pins and the PC should start without going through this request for password allowing you to boot into the operating system. Glad it worked first try, I wanted to make sure that it happened again so I opened software Manager secure Dell who was installed and tried to change password option and was able to change the password to something I can remember easily. I then restarted with all reconnected and housed without reset nvram and dell smart manager secure popped up again but this time I entered the new password I had just put in windows, held my breath for a few seconds and he agreed this password.

I hope this helps someone else with the same question because I certainly not a password within Dell Secure Manager software until this question and cannot conclude that, by not defining a software Dell create a default value for me and it is impossible to understand. Good luck.

  • Software support for the Dell Management Pack Suite - Dell VRTX SNMP monitoring

    Hi-

Anyone know where I can get the support for the continuation of the Dell Management Pack - Dell Poweredge SNMP monitoring in SCOM VRTX?

    Thank you

    Hello

Please visit our Dell Tech Wiki Page for more information on Dell Server Management Pack and forum for your comments and observations.

    Thank you

    Srinivas Carlos.

  • Install on the new instance of SCOM 2012 Dell management packs, questions...

I was given a task to install SCOM 2012 to monitor a lot of servers, including Dell.  Problem that I am running is when I try to install the Dell Management Pack, it keeps asking me for the Dell device to support COM + user/pass.  I put in the account to use us to access these machines, but it does not work.  I tried a few other user/pass, but nothing seems to work.  I'm really new to Dell servers (first time I'm doing business with them) so not sure what is the problem.  I can't find the good research to find a solution to this problem.

    Can anyone offer some advice?

I apologize in advance if I forget something obvious.

    Hello

To extract members without providing identification of the AD information, you can run the Setup program on your desktop computer / laptop (no Windows Server version). The credentials of the AD are required for the configuration of a DLL, which is necessary for servers using WS - MAN (called Out-Of-Band followed in the product documentation).

Hope that this unlocks and allows you to proceed with your installation.

    Concerning

    Thomas

PS I work for Dell MP development team.

If you have more questions focus on the MP, for a faster response, please report it on http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4670.aspx (the forum integrations with Microsoft SCCM and SCOM OpenManage )

  • Get the list of virtual machines on an ESX host specific and dumping of .csv in a specific format

I have problems to find a way to get a list of virtual machines on an ESX host specific and then he dumped to a .csv in the following format

    I use the get-vmhost esxhostname | Get - vm

but everyhting else after, it is where I am lost...  I think the closest I had been posting the output with a goofy header and format 'vm1, vm2, vm3 "...

    name

    computer 1 name

    computer 2 name

    name of the machine 3

to use for later use.  Any help would be appreciated.

You must use the Select-Object cmdlet to specify more precisely the properties you want.

The Export-Csv doesn't know how to manage the virtual computer object.

    Something like that

    Get-vmhost esxhostname | Get - vm | Select name. Export Csv.\report.csv - NoTypeInformation - UseCulture

  • ESX 4.1 and 4.1U1 - do I need to upgrade?

I recently noticed theres an ESX 4.1 update 1 on the list of downloadable products.

And then go to the main page to download and read the details of the ISO and the ZIP, it's vague as to whether or not it applies to 4.1 ESX host.

    given that refers only s pre 4.0 and 4.0 U1 4.1 upgrade.

We currently do not have the Update Manager gui app installed from what I can tell and im wondering what the best practices for the determination of the need to patch.

something that can analyze existing hosts to determine the necessary adjustments.

in the past, my experiences are to be updated simply offline using the iso on a dvd.

then use AUVS to upgrade hosts, to upgrade your clients must be vmotioned off the coast of the esx host as the host must be in service of update/install mode patches. You can use hostupdate if you have not installed VUM but I would recommend creating VUM if you can because it really makes your life so much easier when you have to update your hosts, the vmotools, the versions of hardware and install the third-party tools such as powerpath

  • due to different VC Console ESX 3.0 and ESX3.5

    Hello

all times can help me understand why esx 3.0 and 3.5 is using a different version of Virtual Center.

For me, this is little uncomfortable because I'm managing different places, running with esx 3.0 and esx 3.5 and vice versa. Anyone know if the same console can be used for this purpose.

I hope that page 2 will answer your question:

  • Difference between Esx v 2 and 3 and ESX 2.5 and 3.5

    Hello

I want to know the differences between ESX V.2 and 3 and ESX 2.5 and 3.5. can someone help me on respect.

    Karthik.

    Hello

The biggest difference between ESX 2.x and 3.x is how the virtualization of the boots as well as configurations of network virtual host.

In ESX 2.x booted Linux then VMware took control.

In ESX 3.x VMware started then place the unit of management within a virtual machine started.

ESXi boots the vmkernel then starts a Posix environment in the vmkernel.

The book of VMware ESX Server in the enterprise passes over these differences in a bit of detail, if you are interested.
