Slow easy transfer copy in RC

First - I love my 64 bit RC. Its GUI, stable, fast, excellent and include all the drivers I needed.
BUT
A problem I encounter... Copy of files and the transfer is slow. When I copy files between my transfer speed SATA drives starts at approximately 80 MB/s but drops quickly. After 20 seconds the doen 30 Mbps and after 30 seconds, down to 13-14 Mbps. It is less than 10% of the theoretical troughput on Sata II. The average speed is almost the same when I move files from an external drive via the USB port.
Any ideas anyone? I never had this problem on XP.

  • easy transfer can be used to reload the data files after formatting hard drive?

I have been informed by level microsoft 2 I have to reformat my hard drive to fix the problem with windows backup (snapshot won't work).  easy transfer will copy all THE data files, including OUTLOOK 2007 on hard drive and then I can reinstall on reformatted drive.

Easy transfer copy some things but not all things. He does more that can make a simple copy/paste (such as the settings for example) but, for example, not programs transfer (those who need to be put back in place).  Here is a description of what it does (and does not): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928635.  It will transfer Outlook 2007 PDF files and other personal data if they are selected - you need to know which files you need and where to select them - but it won't transfer the program (which must be put back in place).  It must be run before you reformat the hard disk to collect data and then you can transfer everything what you have registered once the system is re-installled.  You would do the re-setup prior to the transfer.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Loss of historical emails using Windows Easy Transfer

Was previously running Windows XP with Office 2010, including Outlook 2010. Want to upgrade to Office 2013 which does not work on Windows XP so decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium.  Following the instructions in Microsoft that I used Windows Easy Transfer to save all settings and data by following the instructions on an external hard drive. Has also created a copy of My Documents just to be safe. Following the instructions I installed Windows 7, reinstalled the data and settings from the Windows download file is then installed Office 2013.

All data files appear to be present and my contacts were all in Outlook 2013 however no historical emails were present. I had a lot of stored in subfolders under Inbox and sent messages and everything disappeared.

It seems strange that all contacts were copied and transferred across using Windows Easy Transfer, but not historical emails. There is no specific reference to this problem in Microsoft "upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 instruction set.

Is it true that the files containing the e-mails were copied, but Outlook 2013 is looking for them in a different place, or does Windows Easy Transfer copy not the Inbox and sent to the files that would be a huge gap?

Windows Easy Transfer is not good to backup Outlook emails at all.

If you did a custom installation, check if the Windows.old folder to the root of the hard disk to see if your. PST file is there and copy it to your Documents folder in Windows 7.

Save the folder outlook located under:

    C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\Account_Name\Local Settings\Microsoft\Outlook

When you migrate to Windows 7, and then reinstall Microsoft Office, just backup copy of the contents of the folder Outlook in the following location:

    C:\Users\Account_Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\

  • Deletion of files transferred using the Windows Easy Transfer feature.

I used the simple window transfer to transfer old files to new computer.  I want to reverse this trend that I don't like some of what is transferred.  How can I do this?

Windows Easy Transfer copied the files from the old computer to the new.  There is no way to reverse the process.  Just remove the Windows Easy Transfer files where to put.  For more information, clickStart >all programs > Accessories >System Tools > Windows Easy Transfer reports .

If this does not help, please tell us exactly what are the files that you want to remove.

  • easy transfer is not copy profiles

In Windows Easy Transfer, it gives you the option to select the user profile you want to copy. I selected user profiles, I tried Windows Easy Transfer to copy, but everything he copied, it was the shared items. Why there no copy profiles that I have chosen?

I found that what I need to do, is make sure that the computer was on our field. After that, I was able to copy the files and user settings.

  • Slow Windows easy transfer

I am preparing my Compaq desktop PC for Windows XP Media 2005 conversion to Windows 7 and am following the steps on the Windows website.  I downloaded and successfully installed Windows Easy Transfer and I use an external hard drive with 610 GB of free space to store the backup data.  WET said I have about 370 GB for transfer and seems to be * very * slow.  The estimated process time ramps upward to 11 days and continues to grow rapidly.  Is this a known issue?  I'm doing something wrong?  Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is a large data set, so I'm not surprised its taking so long, here is a link to a preview of the performance upgrade of Windows 7:

  • Easy transfer - tool cleaning or copy of data

Easy Transfer transfers blindly * / settings files.  If the old PC is bloated with crapware, malware, software of garbage,... it's an effective way to transfer or I'm better to manually copy (Documents, photos, music, videos, Favorites, links, PST files,...) to avoid problems of migration for a PC to another?

Easy transfer is designed to facilitate the transfer of your DATA and settings to another computer.  That works as well when you replace a hard training or re - build a system.  NOTE that it does NOT copy the applications (programs).  For what it's designed, it does a great job.

I use it quite often.  If the settings on the computer are dirty upward and are part of the problem, or I wasn't capable of first clean malware, I won't use Easy Transfer because he repeated bad settings that may be causing the problem.   In this case, do drag and drop your files to an external hard drive to backup data.  Do your re - build.  Install the applications you want.  Then, copy your data back.

I rarely re - build a hard drive because of the infection.  There are enough good tools out there, and Windows 7 is so durable it can almost always be cleaned.  My favorite tool is ADWcleaner.

Usually, when I use Easy Transfer, is when the OS is so corrupt that I can't fix it or I replace a hard drive.  If you are replacing a hard drive go big.  500G is a good place to be.

  • The easy transfer of work since XP to XP? __

My wife doesn't want to upgrade to a PC with Vista/7 yet, because she applications she loves on his slow PC XP old who do not have the Vista/7 compatible versions. I was able to buy a PC XP used through my company with a faster processor and more memory, and I want to transfer its data from an XP to another XP.

Easy transfer deals only with XP to Vista, but it can copy of XP to XP?

Yes, it works on Windows XP to Windows XP also. If you want to use Windows 7, you don't have much of a problem with the compatibility with Windows XP, you can run Windows 7 and install Windows XP mode to run the application only work on Windows XP in Windows 7, but make sure that your edition is compatible:

  • Bookmarks under Win XP Firefox has not transferred to Win 7 FireFox with Easy Transfer

I followed the instructions from MS for the migration of my PC to Win 7 of WIN XP. I used Easy Transfer to save my settings on an external hard drive. After Installing Win 7 as a custom installation, I used Easy Transfer instructions to transfer user accounts and settings back to my PC. Then I started to reinstall my programs. When I reinstalled FireFox 28 bookmarks were not completed. Number of cases was in the list of bookmarks, but all the URLS that I have saved in these files were not there. I went on the external hard drive I used easy transfer, but there is only one program listed when I click on wants to redo the easy transfer. I don't think I want to do. How can I restore my favorites?

You could have found now, but if not, you should find it under:

    C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

If this folder is not visible, please see my link earlier in section of Microsoft technical support for the display of the hidden files and folders.

I recommend leaves all the contents of this file and make copies of what you need to (do not move files); This will allow you to make the future recoveries if necessary. This article lists the most interesting files: recovery of data from an old profile.

To restore an old backup of your bookmarks, it is easier to copy the last file in the old bookmarkbackups subfolder to a location such as Documents or desktop. Then use the option "Choose file" when you select the backup to restore. Restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer

  • Sudden slow data transfer

    Hello

I am happily using my 3 GB Time Capsule for the last 18 months with no problems. I use it almost exclusively as data storage for my Plex server. I use it wirelessly to my Macbook Pro 2014, in the same room.

Yesterday, without change to explain it, it has become very slow to transfer files to it.

I am at a loss, as most of the solutions I looked for people who have had problems of speed from the beginning, mine was a sudden appearance.

Speeds do not seem to affect my streaming quality that I can still watch a 1080 p 5 gb + video file without stuttering or offset. The problem is isolated to the data transfer it seems.

    Any suggestions where to start?

I use it almost exclusively as data storage for my Plex server. I use it wirelessly to my Macbook Pro 2014, in the same room.

The plex server is connected by ethernet?

Speeds do not seem to affect my streaming quality that I can still watch a 1080 p 5 gb + video file without stuttering or offset.

It would be difficult to know if streaming is more... and more through your Macbook wireless...

So I just need to know what is connected by ethernet and what is connected by wireless.

Wireless is seriously affected by a number of things. So I guess that the first test is to connect the laptop to the TC by ethernet and make sure that it works very well. If your ethernet Mac buy a crush on ethernet card... a necessity, in my humble OPINION... as trying to fix wireless more wireless resembles sawing off the branch that which you are sitting.

If you can determine the network of the question... Then we can do the simple things...

    Run the diagnostics wireless...

Just restart the entire network, which I am assuming that you tried but did not mention.

Simultaneous copy of a file on the hard drive while also streaming can also be stressing the TC... If the tests should be carried out without any other use of disk passes.

  • Easy transfer problems

I used easy transfer to copy files from my old computer to an external hard drive. When I try to use easy transfer install files on my new computer, an error message says that there is not enough disk space. File is only 37 GB. Free space on C: is more than 500 GB. Anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this?

(HP and Microsoft will help me for a fee. I think support should be free from this computer is new out of the box.)

  • Windows easy transfer of missing data

I'm moving my files using the easy to win transfer and there seems to be only a difference of 34 concerts missing (transfer of 324 real victory and 290), even after checking the boxes in advance. I was wondering if it was that they earn way shops to easily transfer data that could explain this discrepancy?

Easy transfer does not transfer files with specific extensions (example: myfile.dat) such as a. dat.

There may be other types of files (extensions) that it fails to capture.

I suggest that you use the old plain copy and paste an external drive or disc.

  • Windows Easy Transfer ends with the restart Message

I'm trying to use Windows easy transfer to transfer files from my old laptop Windows XP 32 - bit for my new laptop Wn7 64-bit. I downloaded the XP application usng the laptop Win7 and transferred on the XP laptop and installed there. I used my network wireless existing as a transfer medium. I copied the transfer key from the old to the new laptop, and the transfer seemed to progress saying there were 390 files, which seems a little low. When 390 have been transferred, both computers will report the following error:

Windows Easy Transfer is unable to continue. If please restart the computer and try again.

I restarted once the two laptops and WET the results in the same error.

Should I just try a different transfer method?

    Yes.

Windows Easy Transfer and files and Settings Transfer seized were never so great because they are really made to move (IMHO) from one system to the other * at time of the original operating system release * because they start pretty quickly leaving aside the settings and applications.  Since you are going from Windows XP to Windows 7, use this:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/XP/transfer-your-data.aspx

If you want to transfer both applications - you can spend a little money on the product (23.95 USDs as you move from XP) and get the professional version:

  • using an easy transfer to move the files from xp to windows 8.

everything is fine until I try to open easily transfer them on my old computer.  I get a message that I'm connected using a temporary profile.  He is told to restart my computer, and then try again.  Same result.

See if it works, its for Windows 7 but the fix 'may' be the same: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-windows-easy-transfer-error-using-temporary-profile-windows-7/

If this does not work, maybe a good old copy and paste amy mode is the best solution.
