Easy transfer - tool cleaning or copy of data

Easy Transfer transfers blindly * / settings files.  If the old PC is bloated with crapware, malware, software of garbage,... it's an effective way to transfer or I'm better to manually copy (Documents, photos, music, videos, Favorites, links, PST files,...) to avoid problems of migration for a PC to another?

Easy transfer is designed to facilitate the transfer of your DATA and settings to another computer.  That works as well when you replace a hard training or re - build a system.  NOTE that it does NOT copy the applications (programs).  For what it's designed, it does a great job.

I use it quite often.  If the settings on the computer are dirty upward and are part of the problem, or I wasn't capable of first clean malware, I won't use Easy Transfer because he repeated bad settings that may be causing the problem.   In this case, do drag and drop your files to an external hard drive to backup data.  Do your re - build.  Install the applications you want.  Then, copy your data back.

I rarely re - build a hard drive because of the infection.  There are enough good tools out there, and Windows 7 is so durable it can almost always be cleaned.  My favorite tool is ADWcleaner.

Usually, when I use Easy Transfer, is when the OS is so corrupt that I can't fix it or I replace a hard drive.  If you are replacing a hard drive go big.  500G is a good place to be.

  • The easy transfer tool Windows calculates disk space before starting to transfer?

Using the transfer windows easy between 2 pc both with vista. Calculate wet if there is enough space on 'new' drive until it begins the transfer?

    Thanks for the help.

    original title: disk space

    Hi Pitski,

Yes, Windows easy transfer evaluates disk space is needed to transfer your selections. If you use a USB flash drive, try to use one with enough storage space for the transfer of all. If your USB drive is not large enough to transfer everything at once, you can copy as many files that it will hold, transfer those files to the new computer, and then reconnect the drive to the old computer and repeat the process.

You can consult the section "what method should I use to transfer my files and settings?" section:

  • I get the error message "there was an error of analysis of the data on your system" when you try to use Windows Easy Transfer

Original title: there was an error of analysis of the data on your system

I get this error when trying to use Windows Easy Transfer to prepare to move from an XP PC to a Windows 7 PC. It passes through the part of the selection on where I later import files then says he is scanning the disc and fails with the above error.

In the search for this error, I found information of 2007 could be be a nero problem AVI.  I don't have Nero installed and I can't find the log files in the directory MIGWIZ.

It is a small (50 GB) HD who do not have much space available on it (I'm not in front of it now).  Is there a minimum amount of free space needed to run this executable? That is why it is a failure?

Could there be other issues behind this failure?
    Thanks in advance

  • Can I use easy transfer of the hard disk Vista for 64-bit Windows 7 computer?

My computer laptop 32 bit vista is dead, but the hard drive is intact.  I can access it using a disk blacx disk drive hard usb.  All files seem to be good.  I gave the disc all permissions for changes, etc., so that it is not just to read only.  He sees my new laptop running windows 7 64 bit.  I found files in the record Office of the old drive so that part works.

I tried to use easy transfer in windows 7.  Installed on the old disk of vista.  But I can't launch the vista easy transfer since this computer is dead.

Is there a way I can transfer my emails, photos, documents and the itune files?

    Thank you.

You can use Knoppixhttp://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (made on a different computer).  This should give you sufficient access to the Vista system 'dead' (if you can not get in any other way) backup/transfer your important data (like everything else you mentioned) to the one you use (an external hard drive, flash player,...). You will not be able to save your settings or your programs because they require the enforcement system to use easy transfer and regular functions copy and paste will do the trick. If Knoppix doesn't work, try slaving the hard drive to another computer, and then after the data you want to save it.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Loss of historical emails using Windows Easy Transfer

Was previously running Windows XP with Office 2010, including Outlook 2010. Want to upgrade to Office 2013 which does not work on Windows XP so decided to upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium.  Following the instructions in Microsoft that I used Windows Easy Transfer to save all settings and data by following the instructions on an external hard drive. Has also created a copy of My Documents just to be safe. Following the instructions I installed Windows 7, reinstalled the data and settings from the Windows download file is then installed Office 2013.

All data files appear to be present and my contacts were all in Outlook 2013 however no historical emails were present. I had a lot of stored in subfolders under Inbox and sent messages and everything disappeared.

It seems strange that all contacts were copied and transferred across using Windows Easy Transfer, but not historical emails. There is no specific reference to this problem in Microsoft "upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 instruction set.

Is it true that the files containing the e-mails were copied, but Outlook 2013 is looking for them in a different place, or does Windows Easy Transfer copy not the Inbox and sent to the files that would be a huge gap?

Windows Easy Transfer is not good to backup Outlook emails at all.

If you did a custom installation, check if the Windows.old folder to the root of the hard disk to see if your. PST file is there and copy it to your Documents folder in Windows 7.

Save the folder outlook located under:

    C:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings\Account_Name\Local Settings\Microsoft\Outlook

When you migrate to Windows 7, and then reinstall Microsoft Office, just backup copy of the contents of the folder Outlook in the following location:

    C:\Users\Account_Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\

  • Windows Easy Transfer - transfer seems to be hung with 1 minute left

I just installed a new PC running Windows 7.  I transfer my data from my older XP using Windows Easy Transfer.  The total amount of data occupies approximately 141 GB and I'm running this on my Verizon FIOS network.  The transfer seems to be complete.  However, the new computer that there is 1 minute for the transfer.  He was stuck in this mode for the last hour or more.

The Task Manager does not all hung programs.

Any ideas of what I can do to get this done?

    Thanks, Mike

Respectfully, Windows Update has nothing to do with Windows Easy Transfer.

Please repost your question in this forum: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files

PS: Is this a new computer Win7 64-bit, and if so, the old computer is running Windows XP 32 bit?

  • Windows in Windows 7 easy transfer is transferred programs and files and folders

I want to get a new motherboard and processor, but because my Win 7 license is OEM, I have to get another Win 7 disk to replace the operating system on the hard drive, I watched the Windows Easy Transfer tool, but I'm not sure if I will lose programs, if that's the case then I'll upgrade not as some programs are very valuable for me and too expensive to replace I don't want to format the drive only to find out that the programs are sunk, I'll put up with the monitor sometimes not detected at startup upward.

    See you soon.
    Wilf

To repeat, the drivers are obtained from your PC to the support site, in the case of a brand PC, or the manufacturer of the motherboard in the case of a generic desktop computer.

Using the Device Manager will update the drivers from windows update, which is not the same thing, and they may have the functionality of the drivers of real equipment manufacturers

  • Windows-7 Pro for Windows - 7 Pro via Easy Transfer?

I would try to use Easy Transfer to clean my Windows 7 Pro install.

Can I run Easy Transfer on my Windows 7 Pro system, reformat the hard drive, reinstall Windows - 7 Pro and run Easy Transfer to recharge, less junk?

    Thanks in advance.

You may notice that if you do as Andre suggested, your programs will not be kept, and each of them will need to be reinstalled.

  • 8 win does not see my Apps after "Easy Transfer" of Win 7 comp to Win 8 elem

I used the "Windows Easy Transfer" tool to move my apps, settings, and files on my new computer. But the tool has not worked very well. 'Transfer' puts things, but win 8 of the new computer does not see my Apps from your old computer. For example, I use Open Office 4.01, but if I go to 'Control Panel' to see what is installed in the "Programs" Section, there is no open Office installed 4.01. The program seems to exist in an environment and windows doesn't see it.

y at - it a way to make Windows 8 see all my apps I transferred? So I can manage them.

Also in the future it would be better if all the "Windows Easy Transfer" from old computer applications and took the check to the new layout key, turn the key on the old model. In this way, all of my stuff would work on the new computer the way it is supposed to.

Update:  Win 8 sees Open Office 4.01 when the search tool, it can be found, but Open Office 4.01 does still not show in the Program\Uninstall Menu in the control panel.

FireFox also works perfectly well, but it can be found by using the search tool, and it does not appear in the Menu Programs\Uninstall. If it wasn't on my desk, it would be difficult to find.

I wonder if this has something to do with some information indexing in progress, and if I wait a bit 8 victory will start to see my software?

All software should be: Easy to install, easy to update, easy to uninstall and easy to Port again a new machine.

Update: I used the Lenovo rescue tool to return my new PC to its original factory installation, purchased the software PCMover and carried everything using PCMover.

Works very well. But I don't see that software porting is a matter that must be developed by software developers. With more people who buy software online, porting of old software while respecting issues related to licensing hassle is something they need to improve.

My port Dragon speech recognition software not properly. It is a dynamic software that evolves as use you it, so reinstalling is something you never want to do.

OK, this issue is also resolved that its going to go. Thanks for your help.

Now to see if Win 8.1 will install correctly...

  • Windows easy transfer of missing data

I'm moving my files using the easy to win transfer and there seems to be only a difference of 34 concerts missing (transfer of 324 real victory and 290), even after checking the boxes in advance. I was wondering if it was that they earn way shops to easily transfer data that could explain this discrepancy?

Easy transfer does not transfer files with specific extensions (example: myfile.dat) such as a. dat.

There may be other types of files (extensions) that it fails to capture.

I suggest that you use the old plain copy and paste an external drive or disc.

  • easy transfer can be used to reload the data files after formatting hard drive?

I have been informed by level microsoft 2 I have to reformat my hard drive to fix the problem with windows backup (snapshot won't work).  easy transfer will copy all THE data files, including OUTLOOK 2007 on hard drive and then I can reinstall on reformatted drive.

Easy transfer copy some things but not all things. He does more that can make a simple copy/paste (such as the settings for example) but, for example, not programs transfer (those who need to be put back in place).  Here is a description of what it does (and does not): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928635.  It will transfer Outlook 2007 PDF files and other personal data if they are selected - you need to know which files you need and where to select them - but it won't transfer the program (which must be put back in place).  It must be run before you reformat the hard disk to collect data and then you can transfer everything what you have registered once the system is re-installled.  You would do the re-setup prior to the transfer.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Data corrupted on Easy Transfer CD

Hello, I'm running a problem trying to open my CD easy to transfer to my new computer. I put all the files from the old computer on several CD and now when I put the first disc in, Easy Transfer charges almost all of it but then I get this message: "there was an error reading the #1 media. The data could be corrupted.

I can not simply ignore this CD and continue on the second disk car AND need the CDs to load in the order. Is that what I can do or is all of my info lost?

    Thanks for your help.

Try cleaning the CD carefully with a soft cloth that will Center on board to make sure a task or fingerprint is not the cause of the problem.

No, you can not ignore just the CD - they should be done in the same order that they were created.

Check the process on another computer (selection temporary special folder as destination so that it will be easy to remove later) and see if it works.  If so, we know that it is probably a problem with the Vista machine.  If this isn't the case, it is probably a problem with the discs.  At least, we will have a better idea on how to address the problem.

By chance, is the old yet workable PC and containing all the data, then you can try this again?

I hope this helps.  Keep me in the loop.

    Good luck!
