  Are you trying to repartition the boot disk? If I understand correctly, your hard disk is currently partitioned, and you need to recover a single correct hard drive?

  You can't repair the disk hard while you use the hard disk. To get the partition on a single disk, boot from the recovery disc.

  Restart the computer and press immediately on and hold command-R until you see a loading bar, and then release the keys. Once the recovery disc starts, choose your language (if it asks you to) and then again open disk utility. Now, select your hard drive and delete the extra partition. It should tell you "this will not affect your files...". "but if he says that you will lose all data, STOP. Make sure that you remove the extra partition without data on this subject.   I suggest you to check in safe mode if the problem persists or not. Follow the steps mentioned below.
  a. restart the computer and keep tapping F8 until you reach the start menu.
  b. Select safe mode in boot menu options and press ENTER.
  Check if the problem persists in safe mode.

  Step 2:

  a. press ctrl + shift + ESC to open the Manager tasks.
  b. on the processes tab, look for explorer.exe and select it, then click on "end process."
  c. This should dispel the Office Save background.
  d. now go to the applications tab and click on "new task".
  e. type explorer.exe, and then click ok to reload the desktop computer.
  f. try to click on icons.

  Once you have done this I suggest make you a start clean and check which program is causing this problem. Follow step 3.

  Step 3:

  I suggest do a clean boot and check if the you are able to install the updates on the system. To perform a clean boot follow the steps mentioned in the link given below.

  Explorer is the question. Taskbar is part of the process explorer.exe only and it does not exist as a separate entity. Try the steps mentioned in my previous post about exploere.exe. If you cannot use the Task Manager, try the key combination to open the Task Manager: Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

  However, if you cannot use the Task Manager, try to clean boot (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135) and check.
