SMU system controlled by PC

Hi all

I have to do a test system optimal hardware configuration OR for an application where the system should simulate Serial interfaces, interfaces to MIL STD 1553 and analog, Digital O/Ps & I / PS. Modules OR for the best match for this requirement were NI PXIe4322, 4300, 6363, PXI-6624, 8430/4,8431/8, Pickering two rtd PXI cards and a card of 1553 PXI SMU-1075 controller SMU 8840-frame. BUT this current price of configurations will on budget than we expected. for this reason I think to change this part and part PCI system in 6363,6634 tax SMU system, serial interface cards and card MIL 1553 with a PCI/PCIe platform and keep the rest of the map with the SMU platform chassis and eliminating controller SMU 8840. So can I use MXIe controllers to implement this system of type test so that I can put all the pci cards in a high-end modules SMU and PC and industrial PXI chassis SMU (1065/1075/1078 one)? If so please guide me what controller MXIe to choose and what would be the compatibility problems that may occur with this type of system in the future.

Thank you

My experience with USB has been nothing else to headaches.  So I wouldn't go the route of USB.  Normal PXI slots can also accept the cPCI, so you could look for those as well.  If you just need a very simple map of 1553, I'd go with 1553 Excalibur cPCI card.  I used their cards and they work fine.  Drivers LabVIEW need a cleaning, but they can be used.  This card is a simple send and receive, so if you need to do some testing of weird signal integrety (I don't remember the number of test at the top of my head), this card will not work for you.  But this card was sever thousand dollars less expensive than the GOAL cards, I also used.

    Hello

I want to know if it is possible to install and run the DIAdem on an SMU (chassis and controller) system, and use the DAC

for a quick setup of measurement and installation. Does anyone have experience with this configuration?

I know I could use Labview but for quick measurement configurations DAC in Diadem is quite perfect.

    Thanks in advance.

Just to complete the Walters post above.

Tiara DAC works with any hardware OR SMU which is taken in charge by NI MAX (measurement and Automation Explorer), including the global virtual channels. If you have Windows XP or later version on the SMU system, it works very well...

    Hello

What is the exact error message received when the problem occurs?

    Methood 1:

Auditor of file system (CFS) scan to fix all of the corrupted system files. To do this, follow the steps in the following link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Method 2:

You can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state, and check if the problem persists, see the link:

You can temporarily disable the security software and check if the problem occurs. Check out the following link to do the same thing:

  • Windows xp professional sp3 general system control panel displays the wrong amount of system memory

Have a Dell Optiplex GX280 running Windows XP Pro SP3 with 3.5 GB of memory. BIOS confirms the good memory installed, but the control panel > system > general tab displays only 2.99 GB of memory.  Is there a fix for this issue or Windows using only the first 3 GB of memory?

If you have Windows XP with service pack 3 - it's a 32-bit operating system.  The most he could use is 4 GB and some of which will be used for overhead costs.  The most I've seen Windows XP with SP3 report was 3.85 GB of memory - although it is more common to see a 3.25 and 3.5 GB.

Memory shared (with a video device) can also take off the total.  It's usually anywhere from 64 MB to 1 GB if the video device uses the system memory compared to (or in coordination with) committed memory.

With Windows XP, however, have probably seldom got you much above 1.5 GB of memory space used without some graphics intense or video edition GOLD of virtual machines.  ;-)

Essentially - there is unlikely to be anything to fix.  If you want to use/manage better memory, you need a 64-bit operating system (I'm not implying Windows XP 64-bit) and possibly a new video device.

  • Icons disappear and tools/system control panels does not open.

I have vista running on my laptop (not sure what version because I can't open anything).  Yesterday my icons disappeared and I can't open anything in the control panel or the system tools.  An update installed yesterday, but I don't know what it was.  It is relatively a new laptop.  I just bought this one when my old laptop (also Vista) did the same thing.  I tried the system restore, but I can't open that either.  I'm quite proficient with computers then give me your suggestions - advanced or not.

If you cannot use the system restore, try this disk to use system restore.

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • SMU remote system do not read file .lvm

I try to get my remote system (SMU remote system) to send a signal of analog voltage by reading a file .lvm.

I have a project in real time implemented, and under my remote system, I have a VI that is supposed to give a signal of analog voltage.

The implementation of VI begins by reading a file position (.lvm). After that, it is connected to a DAQ assistant.

I'm already sure that everything is connected properly, and that it is the right channel. The reason why I'm sure is because in the DAQ assistant window, I can click on "run" in order to send a test signal. I am able to capture this signal to test with an oscilloscope. Therefore, I am sure that the system is all set up correctly.

Finally, I don't know if it's important, but the measure file he was reading is located in my host. I don't know if I deploy when the VI to the target, if the measurement file is sent to the remote system with the VI.

I was wondering if someone could help me please.

    Thank you

    Leon

    Hi Leon,

If I understand correctly, you are trying to read a file .lvm waveform data and send this waveform through your SMU system. What devices are specifically using (chassis, modules...)? What exactly happens when you run the VI? You see errors? If so, what are the codes that come with these errors? Additional information on what the file .lvm would be also useful. What are the functions you use to play the .lvm file?

    Kind regards

    Hi all

y at - it a way to color a Boolean control system.

I use a Boolean system control with "changes when you press on" mechanical Action. He wants her to be green when it is real and by default if the value False. But I am unable to color in the customization mode.

    How can I color it?

    Thank you

Controls from the system palette are color-matched to the theme of the operating system and cannot be changed.

If you want to use custom colors use a control among other palettes.

    Hello

I have SMU - 1065 and it is a part of a large system the system controlled by a switch.

I'm guessing there is a switch or a jumper inside the PXI, a know where or you can give me a link to a manual...?

    Hi Kobi Kalif,

If I understand you correctly, you want to on your frame when your line is under tension of your chassis?  If you want to replace the power switch on your chassis, you can set the switch to disable on the back of your chassis to "manual".  This will allow your chassis to power on automatically as soon as the line is energized. To learn more about this option and other options, see the Article knowledge base I linked below.
