  • Why the icons disappear from the Start Menu?

The Start Menu has two regions: a region for applications whose icons are pinned to the Start Menu and two region, for applications whose icons are not pinnend to the start menu... the positions of icons these vary, depending on the frequency of use.

Why in the region shortcut icons do not disappear into the Start Menu?
They are not being "jostled" more low ranking... they stop just appear.
Open an application can hand its icon at two area of the Start Menu,
but then after a few days (maybe earlier), for example, the icon is missing.

    Thank you
    DaleB

You already have the answer yourself.

"The two region" can only hold x number of icons... Let's say 7.
If you later open a 8th program, among the list of 7 will be "hit.
I opened Windows DVD Maker. Later, I opened MS Excel. Windows DVD is moved from the list.

  • How can I get rid of game titles in the start menu?

Recently, after playing some games on a CD I would go just to the control panel to uninstall the game. Then I noticed that the game title was still

appear in the start menu. I tried everything I could think of the GET rid of these things, including the registry search with no luck.

Y at - there someone here who might know if there is a way to get these things?

In this case I would remove it directly.  Right click and choose "Open file location" and remove it.

    Hello

You have the folder i386 somewhere in your car?

    Maybe in C:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If so, you can try to use that to restore these games, instead of pointing to the CD do point to the i386 folder.

    Click Start > Control Panel
Double click on "Add or Remove Programs.
    Click "Add/Remove Windows components" and
    Click on "Accessories and utilities.
Click on "Details". Check the box 'games'.
Select the games you want to install on your computer.

How to restore Windows XP Games(instead of the windows CD your source would be the i386 folder if you have it.)

  • I lost my games folder in the all programs folder in the start menu, how can I replace it (Win 7 Pro)

If I remember correctly, I was playing solitaire spider on this computer about 1 year ago, but now I can't find the Games folder in the start menu. In the past, the record of the games was still installed automactically when I installed the operating system. Can it be restored or installed from a stand alone facility?

    Thank you

    Frank

When you go to start, type spider and see if it lists the game.  Otherwise, type appwiz.cpl and press ENTER.  Then click Add windows components, and then check out the games.  Sometimes, on Windows 7 Pro, they are disabled.

  • Recent documents disappeared from my Start menu

My recent documents have disappeared in the start menu and every time I tried to click and uncheck the box 'save a list of recent files", by clicking on apply every time, he would not bring him back.  I ran the sfc program by following the instructions in another post on the forum, and he was unable to do some repairs.  I saw a few mistakes that he found in the newspaper, but I'm not nearly enough common sense to interpret the results me tech.  Curiously, another error that we found was on my games folder, and it's a problem I've had since way back.  My games included with Vista had disappeared and I couldn't play more.  Although a good time burner when bored, I just shrugged his shoulders which.  I will post a copy of what I think are the relevant sections of the cbs.log here.  There are references to the file store is corrupted too, incompatibilities of hash, things like that in the sections results I'll post.  I would be grateful someone take a look and tell me if there is a way to fix these things.  I had posted on the forum, I went on a similar problem, who told me to go see someone in another forum, but it was marked responded and no one seems to look into it.  Thank you, Steve

  • The option change username isn't appearing any more in the start menu

Hello, I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit. After several months of normal use, the option change user (fast user switching) has disappeared from the start menu. Why he's missing out, and more importantly: is there a way to restore this feature? I'm not aware of any change in my system. Thank you.

    Hello Rami,

I think that your answer should have worked but... I solved the problem already yesterday! The solution was restore the system to a previous restore point, but these, like last month, when the rapid change of user feature still worked. It took me a few minutes to do and my data were unchanged.
It seems that the problem came from one of the Microsoft updates. I got the system configured for automatic updates and these are quite common. I have now disabled the automatic update option as the system is stable as is.

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Programs Windows missing from the Start Menu

All my Windows programs have disappeared from the start menu.  I was playing with the option hidden files on some of my shirts.  I followed the suggestions of another post on changing the property of my programs to uncheck hidden and which did not help.  Any suggestions?

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    See you soon.

  • options missing from the start menu in the game of 4 elements

When I get timed out at level 3 of the game, a window opens stating I can go to 'options' in the menu start and change fashion casual., except 'options' are not in the start menu.  I went to Playrix and Xbox, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and options is still missing in the menu.  Xbox gave me a toll-free number to use, but I thought I'd try first online help.

Not sure why a program error would be referred to Xbox. It's something that was missing in the way of original game when it was out. This is not a conversion to windows games problem. Options disappeared forever...

  • How can I recover the previous games loaded (Freecell, Spider, Pinball, etc.) on Win XP/SP3 in the start menu

How can I recover the previous games loaded (Freecell, Spider, Pinball, etc.) on Win XP/SP3 in the games from the start menu. Somehow they must be deleted. If I go to the disc cleaner and click on games to again install it says for me to show the way to C:\i386 and something zclientm. I hope you understand my explanation.

    Hello

    I'm happy to help.

    See you soon!

  • After you restore rundll32.exe, I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared

Every thing seems to have returned to normal, but when I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared, and yet, all programs are always in: Control Panel > add/REMOVE programs.   I can still connect to the internet by going to-Start > my computer > view > go to the desktop. How to get back all the icons on my desktop. I tried a click right, but in vain. I also ran a scan complete antivirus. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Joel S. Before I could put your advice into practice a friend recommended a friend who advised me to do a system restore, which he said he would be happy to do it for me. So look like an easy option, I agreed. It seems to have solved the problem (fingers crossed), but now it seems that I need to format the hard drive. If you have any tips on formatting hard drive I'm all ears. Thank you Owen

  • The start menu and the task balk disappeared

    On my windows XP the task and menu balk start screen disappeared as a result of a mouse click. "Just the icons on the side right.<" remained.="" what="" should="" i="" do="" to="" get="" the="" balk="" back?="" any="" help="" will="" be="">

    Hi janavasiljev,

This problem can occur for the following reasons:
    • Auto-hide the taskbar has been selected for the taskbar and Start Menu Properties.
    • Your user account settings are corrupt.
    • The core files are damaged.
    • The Explorer.exe file does not load at startup.

Make sure that the hide option automatically is not selected for the taskbar and Start Menu Properties.

To determine if the hide option automatically is not enabled for the taskbar and Start Menu properties, follow these steps:

    a. press CTRL + ESC.

    b. If the Start menu is displayed, click on the Start menu and then click Properties.

    c. click on the task bar , clear the Auto-hide the taskbar option and then click OK.
