Some Web sites open in what appears to be "safe mode". Others open very well, those in question open correctly in Safari. Is there a solution or should I go?

No photos, ads, etc just text, but not HTML. Has started with 1 site - now up to 3 or 4. Didn't try to delete the cache and cookies, then restart - no joy.

Please advise,

I see that the icon is on the right side of my browser with a drop-down list.

This is the solution - thank you FredMcD

Try renaming the file cert8.db in the Firefox profile folder in cert8.db.old or remove the cert8.db file to remove the intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.

Firefox automatically records the intermediate certificates when you visit Web sites that send such a certificate.

  • Some Web sites are displayed in Japanese.

I messed with my computer settings for a long time and since then, some sites Web will appear in Japanese. Currently, I'm trying to access https://squareup.com/

The Web site loads in English, but once I log in, it passed to Japanese. In my account settings, only two language options are English and Spanish, so it isn't that. I changed my language preference on Firefox to be English and cleared my cache and cookies from this site in particular, but not luck. I also checked the default location of my computer option in the region and language of my control panel. It had been set at the Japan, but I changed to the United States and restarted my computer. This has no effect on the site.

What other options do you think this could come from? I'm running out of things to tinker with.

Well, a solution has been found.

In the menu Options in Firefox, you can go to the content and choose your preferred language, right? I had mine set to English, but the Japanese was also in the list. Although being not marked as favorite, she apparently became favorite on some Web sites, maybe bad encoding, maybe lucky, I don't know. What I had to do was to remove entirely the Japanese in this list.

I thought that this could happen because there are a lot of Japanese users who also have English in their lists, and therefore Firefox guess I'm Japanese, learn English as a second language?

Anyway, if you have this problem, remove it from the list and it should be fine.

  • Some Web sites do not display the fonts in firefox.

For a while through a number of updates, I see that on some Web sites, rolling stone and cnbc are two example. If I go to the fonts in my computer and click on restore default settings for fonts, it solved that temporarily the problem. If I go to the settings and disable Web sites use their own fonts, it solves but fonts do not appear as sites intend to make them appear. This does not happen in other browsers, firefox only. I reinstalled windows fonts 7. I tried to disable hardware acceleration... Still has not solved the problem. How can I solve this problem in firefox?

Do you know if there is a model of policing does not work? If you right click on the text of the problem and choose inspect element (Q), Firefox should open the Inspector tool in the lower part of the tab. On the right side in front of the HTML source code is a box that can usually shows the style rules. Click small heading fonts to show the font used for the text of the problem.

When I visit the site, the text of the problem is in "Close Gotham" (with more than words displayed in the attached screenshots). These are downloadable fonts.

  • Some Web Sites display blue text on the left without images

It doesn't matter what browser I use, some web sites appear as single text in blue on the left without images in all. I am very frustrated and tried all sorts of things: empty my cache, my history of clearing installation of flash, shockwave, java installation, etc. Anyone know how to fix this?

Style sheets are the rules for the display of the items on the page. For example, change the list of links of chips in a horizontal row without underscore is done with style rules.

This page on worldnews.nbcnews.com gets most of its stylesheets to a completely different server, www.cdn.newsvine.com. If a filter is binding "third party" content (there may be other names for it) which could explain why the problem occurs on some sites and not others.

Try to disable all filters of content including the ad blockers.

  • Slow download of some Web sites

I bought a new computer with Vista Acer desktop in March.  After working perfectly for about a month, he suddenly become very slow opening of websites of newspapers or sites like Fox sports.  Sometimes take up to 2 minutes to open.  I have high-speed internet cable and they initially opened immediately.  Other types of Web sites open ok.  What can be the problem?

    Hi trojans4,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

It sounds as if an add-on for Internet Explorer can be the cause of the delay.

Here is a test run to check if this is the case.

    Follow these steps to disable the Add-ons;

1 (note: you must close IE before you follow these steps.)  ) Click Start ORB / select all programs / Accessories / System Tools / Internet Explorer - no addons.
    2. then open Internet Explorer and try to browse to the sites you mentioned.  If you did it, you can add that the modules of back one at a time to determine which is the origin of the problem.

Here are the steps to add them back at a time:

    1. in Internet Explorer click Tools - Manage Add-ons - enable or disable addons
    2. starting at the categories he lists the categories on the left side of the window to the top and you'll see Add-ons for each category.  Right-click on the status of one of the Add-ons field, and then select Enable.
    3. after activation of some add-ons check if he's going to browse the sites once again.  If Yes, continue this process until you find the add-on that is causing the problem.

Once you identify what is the cause or if it did not resolve at all, please update us in the forum so that our community can help you.

  • Can't access some Web sites. Internet is to slow down, it won't work

Original title: can't access some Web sites.

I have a problem with one of the computers on my network.

Some Web sites will not load on one of the computers (although on all others).  The behavior is either it load so slow that it does not (speedtest.net) or it expires entirely (skype.com). This problem persisted for several months (it is one of the computers of my colleague and I administer the network and machines in our office).

    I checked things:

    1. this problem occurs in IE, Chrome and FireFox

    2. it does not occur if I use a web proxy such as hide.me

    3. it is persistent even in SafeMode with network.

    4. ipconfig/all parameters are the same between this machine and the other without a problem.

    5. the problem with Windows Firewall disabled.

6 ipconfig/flushdns does not solve the problem.

    7. no viruses or malware were found.

    8. on those ping timeout works very well (skype.com with ~ 140ms)

I'm really running out of things I can think beyond trying to reinstall Windows, but I prefer not to do so.  Are there possible ideas?

    Hi Nerratt,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft community.

This problem can occur because of corrupted system files or settings or due to conflicts between the third-party applications.

    1. What version of internet explore do you use?
    2. The computer is connected to a domain?

I suggest you run Internet Explorer in no Add-ons mode and check if it helps, here are the steps:

    1. click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the box to start the search.

2 click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer opens without Add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.

3 test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly.

  • Gibberish, loading up on some Web sites

So, for some time now, some Web sites have been appearing as pretty much gibberish. Just a series of things of brand black diamond-question thoes. I thought it was a problem of encoding, but I couldn't fix it, so I just used chrome for the weird site, I needed.
