Someone help me fix this error in my Vista Home premium. I tried the system restore too.

C:\Windows\system32\wshbth.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the provider of software for support.

Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and run Autoruns by using the tab all.  Search for wshbth.dll and if you find it remove the control to prevent it from running at startup.  Click OK and restart.  The message should be gone.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

Start in safe mode with network and see if the problem is here.  A result allows us to narrow down the search for the cause.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

  • Help with error message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.

Original title: help with error message... Please...!

I use a desktop PC of HP Pavilion a6202.uk with Windows Vista Home Premium & Microsoft Office 2003.  When I am back from vacation & turned on my PC, my password was OK, but rather to raise Windows, I received the following message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.  He then listed the following options: "access your computer with reduced functionality (this will allow you to buy a product online key)" or "Type a different product key" or "contact HP to help solve this problem."

I have no idea what a product key is and don't have anything either in the type comes to connect as usual.  I can't access anything to be same to reduced functionality.  I can not type in a new product key because I did not.  I can not contact HP - phone number does not... !!

I'm quite desperate, I travel docs to print and e-mail to answer and I don't have any idea what is happening.  Please can someone help with this not very IT clued-up DTP...!

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

You should have a sticker with the product key on your computer, on the bottom, or under the battery cover.  I try to type this key in and see if it accepts it.  If this isn't the case, you might not have an authentic version of Windows installed.

  • Vista Home Premium - cannot create a system - error (0 x 81000101) Restore Point

I found the thread ""Microsoft Answers > Forums Home > Windows Vista > Security and privacy > Vista Ultimate - can't Create System Restore Point - error 0x800423F "and tried to follow the instructions for a similar problem but unfortunately I knew no chance to solve."

After picking up my operating system (and emotional stability) after some type of registry startup problem (I think by installing automatic updates of Windows or trying in vain to remove a beta version of Windows Live Essentials caused), I am now unable to create system restore points.

Not sure if it is a side effect of my previous diagnosis reboot-a-thon, defragment my HARD drive, disk cleanup running, karma for wanting to change the unwanted services from "Automatic" to "Manual", the result of a record of the ugly or another random event.

When I try to create a restore point, I get the Protection system pop-up dialog (which seems even to have its own sound): "the restore point could not be created for the following reason: the creation of a shadow copy has expired.". Try this operation again. (0 x 81000101) Please try again. »

I kinda like the syntax of phrase yoda "Retry this operation" but worried that system restore does not work.

    Specifications:
    ~ IQ818A HP
~ Windows Vista Edition Home Premium
    ~ Service Pack 1
    ~ 4 GB OF RAM
    ~ 64-bit
~ Properties system has already show "HP (c :)) (System))" as being selected for "automatic restore points" with the "most recent restore point" being yesterday.
~ (C) a 331GB of free space and 123 GB of unused space
~ (D) is the "FACTORY_IMAGE" of (c) partition and was selected previously, but then I tried to deselected it.
~ "Volume Shadow Copy" has been classified as "Started" and "Automatic" in the Services; I changed it to manual.
~ "Virtual disk" is listed as "manual" in Services.
    ~ Is CPU utilization to 99% with svchost.exe taskmgr.exe 31% and 49%
~ avast! The antivirus is active
~ avast! Scanner shows no viruses or other problems
~ Spybot scan shows no virus or other problems

I disabled later, restoration of the system, rebooted, enabled the restoration of the system, restarted and then tried to save a point of restoration but no luck, I received the same error (0 x 81000101) as before. I then typed "net stop vss ' disabled shadow copies of volume storage in Device Manager, rebooted and activated the system restore and then tried to «Create a system restore point...» "once again, but nothing helped.

I even removed the SD card that housed my ReadyBoost, just in case where that was having some strange side effects.

I then ran sfc/scannow and must "checks 100% complete." but has NOT gotten any other report (for example "Windows Resource Protection did not any violation of the integrity." as stated on another computer to test I ran the same command on). I followed the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 and tried opening sfcdetails.txt but it was empty; Perhaps, the command still runs on my computer that seems to use a lot of CPU?

After reading a bit more about the problem (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/826936 for Windows Server) and think about the recent very slow performance of some applications of system on my TouchSmart, I start to think that my previous tinkering with services caused something to load that should not or something not to load that should and therefore the computer does not have enough juice or is not properly configured to create a restore point. Do you think that this is the problem? Is there somewhere I can find a list of services by default OEM on the parameters (deferred), manual or automatic?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hi TouchSydney,

After you disable and re-enable the system restore, you did a restart? This removed all your restore points?

If this isn't the case, you might want to restore it to a date before all this happened, he probably still will give the error.  Disable and re-enable system restore to remove all restore points.  Restart and try to create restore points.

You can also restore this way cleaning points:

  • Error 800b0100 KB2564958 Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit.

I am experiencing 800b0100 error when trying to install KB2564958 on Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit.  I ran the system update tool and tried to download and manually install the KB2564958 without success.  Any ideas?

A repair installation isn't a big problem if you have the right drive. A new clean install is a much larger task.

Notwithstanding, there is no certainty that it will solve the problem but it is very unlikely to harmful effects on the system.

The missing file is a strange situation. It is formally identified in the Article, but on a Vista computer that I have here, there is no sign of the file. The difference with your computer, is that my updates normally and your not.

You can either change your language AE in German, or you need to replace the term "Einstellungen as Schieberegler" with "Cursor" in all your expressions.

  • Acer Aspire laptop with Vista Home Basic Edition does not, System Restore does not, sfc, find corrupt files but do not repair. Need help!

Hi, I have an Acer laptop Aspire with Vista Home Basic Edition that came pre-installed, so no records only the disk hard drive partition.

I turned on my laptop today and it starts but the loading bar of stalls at the black screen with "(c) Microsoft Corporation" and dragging green. The slide bar will continue to drag, but nothing else happens which means that I understand even as much as the login screen. I rebooted and tried Windows recovery, but the only remedy to what he suggests is a restoration of the system, which does not have any point, I try to restore it.

To remedy this, I have connected in safe mode and ran the SFC command prompt. It scans my system and told to find corrupted files, but he can't heal some. This is where my knowledge limit runs out. I don't know how to fix the files that the SFC cannot. (Also I created a journal using the findstr command prompt and checked but it say anywhere that it was unable to fix it so I'm not even sure how to identify corrupted files)

As it's an Acer laptop, Aspire I'll try their eRecovery tool to return my computer to factory settings, but it won't work in safe mode, and as I said I can not connect normally. I tried alt and F10 at the initial boot screen when I turn on, it loads the windows files and shows the Acer "Please wait a moment" screen and then nothing happens again.

I can't afford to get it fixed, and there is no chance I can get a new laptop. Any ideas/help? Thank you.
