Sorry, something unexpected has occurred and Windows Live Mail should close.

I started having this message this morning on my XP machine.  I ran a registry cleaner.  Uninstalled Windows Live Mail, re-directed the registry cleaner, then reinstalled Windows Live Mail and still get the same message.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It is Windows 7 64 bit...

I installed wlme and since the beginning, I received the message

"Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail should close."

I found the problem was a character from my username, I used the alt 0160 for an essay to white, and that's the problem for me...

Win XP SP3 and Windows Live Mail. I get emails from my office surveillance video. The e-mail has an attachment '.htm '. When I double click the file .htm in the email, it starts Internet Explorer 8 and must upload a short video clip and display it. The fly in the soup seems to be the fact that the .htm file is "locked".

He can be unlocked by saving it to disk and using Windows Explorer to display its properties, and then click the button "Unblock" - but it's just a "work around".

  • What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

    Separated from this thread.

I realize that starting from 7/11, Windows Live is more effective on my Windows Vista system.  I understand that and I have since beengetting my Hotmail acc't workingusing only Windows Live Mail.  This am, I tried to create a new account hotmail for my friend, but we couldn't get it to accept and just stopped trying.  Now, today, I can not send any e-mail because "you cannot configure Windows Mail to use a web (HTTP) that is running Windows Vista based."  WHA?  I managed somehow to get into Windows Live when I tried to get a new account hotmail for my friend?  Also, I also receive a message from the Assistant on "you want to want to leave, you have not created your new account?  (probably not the exact wording).  In response, I clicked Yes and no, and still I can't get out of this Windows Live.  I would like to purge my system of this needless to Windows Live and only use Windows Live Mail.  Can someone help me to do this?  (My knowledge of couputer is at a basic level, so hopefully it won't be too difficult to understand.)  Thank you!!!

(With the HTTP mess), it seems Windows Mail and Windows LIVE Mail are two very different things.

I am not a technician, but try to stay up-to-date. I have known that Vista sucks because it came out, but it surprised me, never have used before today. So I wonder...  Windows LIVE Mail can be installed on a Vista unit, and if so he would remove the format HTTP bug? It's all THE Microsoft, after all! On my PC with Windows 7 HP with complete Essentials, including Live Mail (for PC, to avoid confusion with the version online), I have not had any problems to Hotmail at work, send or receive. GMail also, no problem, the only thing I did NOT like about Live Mail is that it doesn't have the handy function "Sweep" that I love, I just go online to own things very quickly. With only Windows Mail (which I assume is supplied with Vista), it won't let me even try to set-up Hotmail/Outlook account. It's stupid, because like I said it's all EM!

    peace ~

Windows Mail is the e-mail that comes with client program and a part of Windows Vista. Windows Live Mail is a program available for free download; It is an e-mail client, the timing, the Manager contacts, aggregator and newsreader at a single feeding program.

Until a few years ago, it was possible to synchronize the Hotmail accounts with e-mail clients on Windows XP and Vista (Outlook Express and Windows Mail respectively) using WebDAV over HTTP protocol. This method has been deprecated after a long sequence of initialization in September 2009. Before that date, POP3 access has been made available for all Hotmail accounts. At any time it was not possible to access Hotmail email clients accounts. There is no bug involved here, nor in HTTP format or anything else.

Windows Live Mail is built to use a different former WebDAV protocol; DeltaSync protocol allows the synchronization of e-mail folders, contacts, and calendars between client and server.

You may be able to download the installer for Windows Live Mail 2011 of this page: How to install Windows Essentials while offline? Do not try to include Windows Live Writer or Messenger in the installation; None of them will work and you can gum up toward the top of the entire installation Essentials if you do. It may be better to stick to one mail at first. Windows Live Mail 2011 is the latest version which runs on Vista.

Where should I contact regarding the functions of newsgroups in Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

I seem to have problems with Windows Mail, perhaps caused by the update KB978542 and/or run the program WMUtil.

One of my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit machines, whenever I try to start Windows Mail, it displays 0x800C0155 error message, then a message saying that he was unable to start because MSOE. DLL could not be initialized.

The other has problems of material type instead: it's a laptop with no mouse and no reliable connection to the internet.

On my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit machine, I can start Windows Mail, but most local issues have disappeared - only the Inbox is visible.  I already checked that subdirectories for the other files are still present.

All three of these machines have had problems of backups for months and have had no successful backup for the last two months.

I have trouble finding enough information about Windows Live Mail without having to install this program if it could avoid these problems or just make it worse.

  • Conflict between the settings of the computer and Windows Live Mail

I have a conflict between my computer settings, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar.  When the computers ' regional and Language Options | Date - short Date Format"settings are set to"dd-MMM-yy"is in conflict with the Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar 'date of birth and birthday' date formats.  Whenever a date is placed in the Windows Live Mail "birth date and birthday" field the date in the field becomes "mm/dd/yy" which generates a conflict in date format.  Enter "mm/dd/yyyy" in the date field of "birth date and birthday" in Windows Live Mail when your computer settings are set to "dd-MMM-yy" and Windows Live Mail passes the numbers 'mm and JJ '.  Is there a solution?  I'd like to see dd-MMM-yy on my computer.

  • Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail

Is it possible to have too many Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail installed on a Dell Vista computer?  I have Windows Mail to a business e-mail and want to download Windows Live Mail for personal use.  When I go tohttp://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail it does give me an option to upgrade that I assume will be completely removed from my Windows Mail program.  Is is possible to download the Live Mail without remove/upgrade the small Windows Mail?

Windows Live Mail can run along the coast of WinMail without problem.

Windows Live Mail (presentation, features & download)
    http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

If this download offers a upgrade, check in Control Panel | Add/Remove programs and look for Windows Live Essentials. Perhaps it is already installed and you are not aware.

Download and set up WLMail will not remove WinMail or its content. It may become the default program and it can import your messages and contacts, but WinMail is not assigned the case. All messages or imported files can be deleted if desired.

  • PS elements 12.0 is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail?

Is that what the party organize/E-mail of 12.0 compatible with my Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail items?  I've never been able to make it work with my 9.0 elements after many hours of trying.  The problem is recognized by Adobe and offered a solution, but the solution does not work in any of my three computers to Windows 7.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    What browser do you use?

That is to say, can we try it in a slightly different way.

In step 4 above, you should see the name that he will use in the Save dialog box. Change the extension of htm to reg and then click Save.

This should create you can then double-click the correctly named file.

I think your problem with the name change, it's that you have folder options set to hide known extension. We could change this option, but you may want you defined this way, so it is easier to meanings.

Good luck - we will get there.

  • Why do I have an account Hotmail and Windows Live Mail? What is the difference?

Some time ago I had a problem getting into my Hotmail account when a transaction has been by Microsoft.  It did not recognize my passwords and told me I tried too many times to do so I plugged the support staff who said that I only had not provided them with enough information to reopen my account and they told me to open a new.  I did it.  Then I found a Windows Live Mail account on my computer that had my old Hotmail top messages.  I didn't open this account and it don't did me not a password, when I saw the icon and clicked it open.  Now, I had this account which was again Hotmail messages sent to my old account but name to send e-mail messages, I got to use my new account.  I was confused, but agree with that.  Now, however, the Windows Live Mail is asking for a password and I have the same problem I had before.

I am not particularly a fan of Windows Live Mail. My point is that, simply
an email client is preferable to e-mail than a browser.

Don't hold down the CTRL key and mouse scroll wheel change
the font size in Windows Live Mail (it does in most programs)? If so,.
It will be big enough for you?

If this is not the case, there are a lot of other e-mail programs, you can try. Almost
one of them would be better than a browser.

  • Explorer Windows and Windows Live Mail does not.

If I try to create a new folder, Windows Explorer stops responding. In other words, when I create a new folder and name it, after farm the naming dialog box, Windows Explorer stops to answer and the name of the folder has not changed (it is still new folder). If I use the task manager at the end of the Windows Explorer, to the revival, the new directory name. A second problem is that Widows Live Mail has also become insensitive, since its launch. I went back to two restore points, but no help. This happened when I tried to download an update of map on Garmin website (may be a coincidence). Delete all files takes a long time. For awhile, the dialog box indicating that the substance was sent to the trash was insensitive, but I have not seen that for a day or two. With assistance from a restore point will not work in normal windows, but it seemed to work in Mode without failure.

    What really was the problem:

    Mick,

Because you offered advice so quickly, I tried you can see how I solved my problem. I did all that you suggested, but nothing helped. However:

I've done some thinking on this windows live mail and the creation of a new directory have in common. The answer I came up with that was indexing. I tried to change the "indexing options" but this dialogue has also been insensitive. So I went to administration-> Services tools and attempted to stop "looking for a window. It would not stop. I disabled it and its entries to try again and restarted. I have Windows Explorer back and will then attempt my email.

OK, this has solved the symptom, but does not solve the problem (I don't have work indexing).

    Thanks for your help,

    Mark

  • Installed windows 7 and windows live mail. now I want to import my messages from windows mail, and they will not matter. I really need the messages because they have a lot of important information in them.

Would be really happy for any help.  The application tells me that they have been moved to the storage area, but they are not there.

    Help.

Is your username mentioned in the tab security for storage files and all subfolders, and has 'full control '?

If these files are really empty then the transfer/import routine failed for some unknown (to me) reason.

Have you tried to copy all old messages from the Windows.old folder, put in a file in your user name for example Documents and then import from there?   It is perhaps necessary to remove to another location in the current storage folder in Windows Live Mail rather than simply delete before rerunning the import program.

Have you tried to temporarily disable your anti program virus and other security programs to see if that blocks emails appear?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  First try checking not be (read-only) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If this is the case, start by checking the two boxes, in no other rerun.

  • E-mail using OE and Windows Live Mail

I have a computer running xp with Outlook Express and a computer of Windows 7 with Windows Live Mail. What happens if they are both on the same email address? E-mail will go to one or the other or both?

Both, if you configure them properly.

In OE: Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server.

In WLMail: Menu button. Options | Email accounts | This email account | Properties | Advanced. Check: Leave a copy of messages on the server.

On an e-mail client only check to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space that you get from your server.
