Sort files by date of photos inside

In the My Pictures folder, I have several files, each representing a different event.  Is it possible to organize these files at the time of the pictures inside?

So, for example, I have folders called Easter 2012, 2014 Christmas, Halloween 2011.  Normally, the records would be sort alphabetically: Christmas Easter 2012, Halloween 2011, 2014.  I want them to sort chronologically based on pictures in the folder (no matter if the date is in the name of the folder): Easter 2012, 2014 Christmas Halloween 2011.

Google's Picasa program did what was great (but I can't use for other reasons).  Photo of Microsoft programs have the ability to group by Date taken, but which removes folder groups.  (Group by folder puts the files in alphabetical.)

Asked the same question and gets no satisfactory answer to this thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/how-can-i-sort-photo-album-folders-by-the-date/537e0eb9-7c3f-4725-ae3c-ff780b78b058.  (One of the responses refer to the OP to a second thread completely irrelevant, and the other has him manually change each folder name, which is not possible here.)

So this possible feature in Windows runs download Picasa?  Is it yet another 3rd party program that will do it?

Thank you!

Open images folder

Right click > select sort by Date

You can open each folder and do the same thing to sort photos by date

In the Menu folder of photos, select view > sort by

A menu appears where you can select different options to sort by

  • How to sort files by DATE taken in the view Edition?

It seems lost. I thought of that day (produced two films on DVD with success already) I do not stumble upon this question. To organize, I put more "old first" and it of all good, but when I look to change the files can be found in every sense. I right click and there is no option to view files by Date, they have been taken. Tried to change the columns as well - can't find anything remotely comparable. Help, please.

Yes, as Steve says there are a number of other column options that you wouldn't probably see. You must go to the window > show headers to Anchorage, then click on the header of anchor for the media (to the right of the tasks) group and choose Edit columns. You will see then a complete list of the column display options.

    Hi guys,.

Is it possible to place an image in InDesign, and when the windows of the finder opens for the sorted by creation Date? This will be on the top of the most recent images instead of having to search by name, which is slower.

    See you soon,.

No problem here. In the OS X version that I use the so-called columns updated and Date added and I can sort by.

What version of InDesign? What version of Mac OS X?

Where the photos are normally stored on a Mac computer? In the folder images in the Finder on my Mac, I have a file named "Library.photoslibrary Photos" i.e. 28.52 gb and another folder called 'iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary' i.e. 4.95 GB, but then I have also on the 160 other photo and video files in the same folder. But in my Photos app, it says that I have 6 260 'elements '.

The pictures that you have imported into the photo library are, by default, stored inside the package (not file) "Library.photoslibrary Photos" in your pictures folder. The 'iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary' package would contain photos that have been stored in your library, iPhoto at the time of the migration.

The other files in the pictures folder are that: other files. Also, they can be in libraries if you imported and has not deleted the copies lying around in the images.

  • Sort order of dates

With the latest updates for VISTA 64 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, when I try to sort the files in chronological order, it sorts by month (1-12), then day (1-31), THEN year, so that on 01-02-08 shows as more recent than 01/01/09 and 01/03/09 is less recent of the foregoing. Y at - it a patch or fix? It is majorly annoying.  As far as I know, I have all the current patches and updates. Sort order must be the YEAR, MONTH, DAY, even if the screen is in the format DAY, MONTH, YEAR.  Help, please.

    M.Nelder

    Hello M.Nelder,

If you have your order of sorting by type it will sort the date depending on the file first, then by Date.

When you try to sort by modified Date, try this:

Mouse over the modified Date header in order to see the menu drop down.

Select the drop-down arrow, and then select group.

You should now see all group by time period regardless of the type of file.

  • How to sort files in most recent records; last updated sorts by month (1, 2, etc.)

Recent update has changed the sorting of files in my files - now sorts by # first date, i.e. the month, then all the files of January appear first (or December if I reverse).  They were all sorted by "most recent" as is my Outlook Inbox.  Can't find "most recent" or "recency" sort.  Help, please!  It is a mess and is complicating my job and wasting my time searching.

I'm not at a computer vista right now, so my instructions is perhaps a little far, let me know if they are, and I'll fix them.

In the case in question, on the top bar where you click to organize by name, size, etc. do a right-click, and I don't really know what's going to come up (perhaps a long list of options with check marks next to them) and look for an option 'creation date' or selection, which will add the creation date in the top bar , so you can click on it, and it will sort the file there, so created the most recent thing must be upward and the thing created a long time ago should be down.

If I update to windows 7 to 10 will I lose all the data stored, photos, etc.

It seems that you do not have to back up your data regularly. A lot of people don't. By far the best incentive for them to change their habits is a disastrous loss of data. In this forum, we receive their calls for assistance with great regularity.

    To answer your question:

    • People do not back up their irreplaceable files regularly (e.g. weekly) will sooner or later lose them. It's only a matter of time.
    • People performing a major operation as an upgrade of the operating system considerably increases the risk of losing their data.
    • Those who backup their data without immediately pick up some examples of files on another PC often find that their untested backup is useless.

This current position illustrates the problem.

  • Import pictures from iPhone for WIndows 8 by Date the photos were taken

How can I import photos to date they have been taken from my iPhone 5 for my laptop that has Windows 8? Currently when I import pictures from my phone, they are saved in a folder with the date on which I'm importing, not the date the photo was taken.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions, import photos from IPhone to the Windows computer. We will certainly help you with the same.

In fact, by default, the pictures and videos are saved in the pictures folder in a subfolder named with the date (for example, 2013-09-10). But, if you want to make changes to the template files will be saved.

For more information: Import pictures and videos from a camera phone or a DVD

In addition, you can try to refer to the article mentioned below as a solution, saving pictures in groups (folders) of SHOOTING DATE instead of the date imported in bulk. Follow the suggestions of Geoffc1 and see if that helps.

  • Is it really true that I can't view file creation date and time in the form of column bin?

I need to sort my material by the date and time of creation of the file.

It seems that this basic metadata more are missing in Premiere Pro

I hope someone can point to my error here - otherwise, it's a MAJOR FAILURE by Adobe. Surely, after file name, it is the most "basic" bit of METADATA required from a file.

Otherwise there is no solution workaround, other than the batch renaming clips at the finder level. (I tried the tags and comments at the research level, but can't seem to access it either)

    Hi Jim,.

Unfortunately, even when these data are present for the clips, the ability to sort by these data is broken.

It caused a lot of performance issues, then Yes, that it has been disabled.

and they still haven't fixed yet.

This is fixed in the next version. However, you must add the columns in the display of the metadata.

    Thank you

I created a file in Photoshop CS5 (photo) and another in Illustrator CS5 (a graph) to place in my InDesign CS5 brochure. When Photoshop and Illustrator files are placed in InDesign, they seem blurry - read in InDesign, printed or saved in PDF format. Can someone give me some advice on how to fix this? Thank you!

View blurry in InDesign: choose View > display performance > high quality screen

Blurry printing InDesign: Choose file > print > graphics > Images > data send: all

Fuzzy in PDF format: fix above points first. make sure that the links are up-to-date; post a screenshot here your PDF export settings.

    Hi Peterboynz,

I see that your iPhone / iPad receive are formatted as files "winmail.dat" which you are unable to open attachments. I'll be happy to help you.

If your Mac email contains a winmail.dat attachment - while this article is for the emails from Mac, the question is the same. Once the sender updates their e-mail applications, messaging on a device iOS and Mac applications should be able to open the attachments.

In the meantime, he also winmail.dat readers available for both devices.

  • My smart playlist sort by release date in ascending order

    Hello

I have a 7th generation iPod nano, the version of the software 1.0.4. Synchronize all all the podcasts of the nano unplayed episodes. I also sync a smart playlist that includes episodes of a number of podcasts I listen to. I want to have podcasts on this sorted list according to the date of output in ascending order, so I'm always hear older podcasts to the most recent. For some reason, the iPod nano will not sort podcasts in ascending order and sort in descending order, from the most recent to the oldest.

In iTunes, under my Podcasts, I have all my podcasts listed by release date in ascending order, from oldest to newest.

In iTunes, under playlists, I have all my podcasts listed by release date in ascending order, from the oldest to the newest, and smart playlist is also sorted by release date ascending, from the oldest to the newest.

In iTunes, under devices-> iPod Nano-> Podcasts, each of the podcasts on the device is ordered by release date in ascending order, from oldest to newest.

In iTunes, under devices-> iPod Nano-> [name of smart playlist], smart playlist is sorted by release date in ascending order, from oldest to newest.

When I go to the machine and select Podcasts-> [name of the individual podcast], each of the podcasts is sorted by release date in ascending order, from oldest to newest.

When I go to the machine and select music->-> [name of smart playlist] Playlists, episodes are sorted by release date in the ORDER SORTED by most RECENT to THE OLDEST.

I restored the iPod nano (twice), and this did not affect the sort order.

Can someone suggest something else I could try to get the podcasts to sort correctly?

    See you soon,.

    Hussar

Well, I was able to work through this on my own. I disabled the "Sync Podcasts" block and sync had the nano, by removing all the podcasts of the device. I then re-checked the block "Sync Podcasts" and sync'd. Now, when I go to music-> [name of smart playlist]-> Playlists, episodes are sorted correctly, from the oldest to the newest, and several episodes that had previously denied same sync are now present.

I'm fairly certain, however, that's not the way this is supposed to work.

  • File generation Date two consequtive

I have a requirement to search for files to date in a data log application.

The files are generated and stored in the format< dayofyear-dd-mm-yyyy.txt="">

And it must be added the user shall enter information in this genearte the first day and I need to automatically generate the next day file reference. That is the problem. While I've evolved logical to create automatically the number of DayOfYear (Dec. 31 it will generate 01 as the next DayOfYear) I do not think that its easy to do the same for the date. I guess it must manage things like leap years and months of 30 days etc.

Simple ideas to do the above? By joining my screws. (Version LV2012).

    Thanks in advance.

    see for yourself:

    EDIT:

And he treats both leap years
