Sort of proportions and export (file name)

When I crop my photos, I sometimes find a few photos work best in 4 x 5/8 x 10 and other culture in a stretch of 2 x 3/4 x 6.

Question No. 1) How to sort and find all of my images with a specific image format?

When in the library and setting up a module filter (ctrl + f), I see no way to filter and sort my proportions. In the "Metadata - Label" filter fields, there is an "Aspect Ratio" value however the only options are Portrait and landscape. (more of a layout page/photos as "aspect ratio" for me)

* Feature Request: Please add "Aspect Ratio" options (as presented by 'r' is used to resize) in the library filter metadata. **

Question #2) how can I include the proportions of the image (for example 4 x 5) in the name of the exported file?

I see no way to do either, so I have to manually find all images with the same proportions of first, then set a custom name for the export field and export each ratio at the same time.

* Feature Request: Please add "Aspect Ratio" options in the file naming of fields available for selection when you export images.  Values such as "4 x 5" and "4 x 6"would be very happy to be able to include in the name of the file of my images.

Kind regards

Brian

  • PowerCLI to change vm and its file names

    Hi all

For 100 VMS, I need to change the inventory of vm name and its file names (vmx, vmdk, etc.) to another name.

Could you please help to create a script that retrieves the entries to a file (existing name and new name for it) and it changes automatically.

The easiest way is to rename the DisplayName property of the virtual machine with Set-VM.

Then do a svMotion, which will rename all of the files for the DisplayName property.

But, you will need space for moving VMs around, and a svMotion could take some time to complete.

That's what I meant when I asked if you could use svMotion.

  • Windows Picture and Fax Viewer seen only by Crescent and descending file name. I want to do more...

Hello.  I use Windows XP service pack 3

When I reformatted the computer earlier (before I updated my service packs and all), I could go in my windows Explorer, I could see all my photos by file name, updated and the date of creation (both increasing and decreasing) with windows fax and picture viewer.

Now (after installing the latest service packs), when I find my pictures with Windows Explorer, I can sort the photos by what I mentioned above, but windows fax and picture viewer will only see in photos by file name (ascending or descending order), it will not display the photos in order by size, date of creation or update.  Even if the order has changed viewably on explore, I can't see the pictures created or modified or size of the order (order asc & desc).

I clicked on the update column, with the arrow going down on the selected column, and also once again, if the arrow is pointing upward.  Then I went to double click on the first picture in the amended order, and after I saw the first picture, I clicked on WP & F viewer (or use the arrow keys on my keyboard) the arrow to view the next photo in the changed order and the next picture that appears is in order of file name!

Now, I want to be able to switch between the use of all columns or sorting:

~ file name (order asc & desc)

    as well as

~ modification/creation date (also in order asc & desc)

    or

    Size (order asc & desc)

is there a way to fix this without having to download new programs to view my photos?  Or having to rename one of the file names?

I don't think that it has nothing to do with the dates of my photos.  They have all of the appropriate dates stamped on.  And rename one of them to a single specific command won't help.

I really enjoy using windows greatly fax and photo viewer.  I don't want to replace it.  I just want to see my photos in order, I want to see them with windows fax and picture viewer.  And I would be very happy to help on fixing this problem.

I thank you for your time, and hope you're answers coming soon.

I restored my computer twice, and I don't know when it started to happen to me, but today I started thinking, ' it did not use to jump around like that. " I am looking for an answer now.

Edit: Hey, I think I've found a fix for this problem!

First of all, I tried this http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/windowsxp/162211/Picture-and-Fax-Viewer-displays-images-out-of-ordersite, but the solution did not work for me. Then I found this site http://www.compu-help.us/157.htm, and the first suggestion seems to have solved the problem. My images now show in the order. (Summary: a patch for the computer messed up Windows and Fax Viewer.) To correct, click Start and then run. In the run box, type: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll)

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your query details.

Also, I understand your concern on the sorting of files.

Everyone has their own way to organize what is important to them, and you can use Windows 7 to be fair in particular on all of your important files and folders.

The four basic methods to organize how your files and folders appear in Windows 7 include organization, sorting, grouping and changing your display. Understand the differences between these options will help you customize and combine them at your leisure.

I suggest you to refer to this article and check if it helps.

  • in the export file name changes loses link catalog

I'm a newbie LR3 (or any version of LR also). Been using CS4 and CS5 now for a little over a year

& became comfortable with 5 Raw and Raw 6 now.

I have the wierdest thing happen when I 'import' my photos in LR3 (no matter if it is a card or an external hard drive). I have created a preset in the section file to change the name of the file to import handling. So instead of the file DSC_0001.jpg, the preset I replace it (then), Mikes_photos_20100725_DSC_0001.jpg. Export works very well, everything is great. I even let LR running (and tried to restart the computer or the program), but when I get back later, the catalog cannot find pictures (image of low resolution cat., but not on the picture). I said that it cannot find "DSC_0001.jpg. It's right there in the folder it is looking, but the new name - given the file by LR3 when importing is no longer the short name but the most recent long name. When I click on the new name, he said something like, "make sure that you want to link this since both names are not the same?

Does anyone else have this problem or can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong?

Make backups to import? Is to make a second copy enabled in the import dialog box?

I just reproduced the error rename you described (and mentioned in the thread I linked above): when you have backups to import enabled and a file with the same name already exists in the backup location, rename it on import will fail and leave a broken link between the catalog and the file.

  • How to: save the image in multiple formats AND edit file names every time automatically?

    Hello!

First of all, I hope I'm not opening a discussion that has already been asked/Treaty. a lot. I couldn't find a solution to my particular problem until now in the web and I hope someone can help me.

I work with Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.

My problem is: I work a lot with product photos (whole/collage of several elements) and I want to speed up the process-saving in multiple formats (JPEG and PNG, sometimes TIFF as well).

The initial situation is: I have a main PSD file (to keep things clean and centralized) with several layers, each layer containing a different element. I need to check/uncheck layer visibility often, add/remove elements of collage to generate variants of game.

With every change that I agree (very minor steps), I have to go to SAVE AS... (Shift + ctrl + s)-> SET a format (JPEG, PNG, TIFF)-> EDIT file name (according to whole-variation [e.g. "Assembly-set01_lightbulb" / "Assembly-set01_lightbulb_cable" /...]---> save.) Fact.

And then REPEAT the steps together, define another format drop-down list, change the name of the file again (since the file original .psd remains without additions) and so on...

This process could his insignificant, but for me, when it comes to the variations set, consumes a lot of time, in particular, by taking changes in layers is a matter of 2 clicks.

So what I know: There is an option to automate the in some workflows. I can create an action, where hitting a predefined key, the original PSD is saved as JPEG and PNG. But that's all. No change of name of file or the destination can be performed (AFAIK).

Now what I want: I want to hit a predefined key, SAVE as... context-window, JPEG (...) is defined by default as defined format, I can modify the file name and/or ideally choose another folder to save to (...). Press enter-> the file is saved in JPEG format with the file name and alternative way edited. A new RECORD under... context window appears, PNG (...) is defined as the default format defined, I can still ideally to change the file name and press ENTER to find:

    -the original (unchanged) PSD file,

-a copy of this image to JPEG with file name changed (... _xxx.jpg) [in another folder path, if I wanted to.

-a copy of this PNG image with file name changed (... _yyy.png) [so somewhere else if I wanted]

All this with the push of a single button(-combination) and my entry to change the names of files.

Is it possible? I hope that my request is understandable and you could understand, what I want to achieve. The process itself is quite simple, but I have too complex concepts on how I want to maximize my workflow.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards, Phil

    Hi Phil,

This is something impossible in Photoshop as if now that the process you are looking for is very personalized and can be reached only in Photoshop.

The only way that you can save a JPEG and PNG file is by creating an action, and that's what you have already tried and does not give you an option to change the file name or destination location.

  • How to rename a file flat concatenation date and time, file name?

I created a package where I run a first interface that uses a flat file to a server and load into a table of Teradata.

After using the OdiFtpPut API, I used a FTP file and send to an outfit.

Given that this procedure works every day, I need when FTP get concatenation destination file name, the date and time of execution.

What is the best practice for this?

using the odi APIs, you can get the date and time

    <%=odiRef.getSysDate("dd_MM_yyyy_hh_mm_ss")%>

To rename, you can use the operating system command or using the command/UNIX windows and rename the file by adding the getsystdate API.

    Hope this fixes your condition

  • Control on an export file name

When I export several plans of work, is there a way to control the file name at all? I don't want spaces in the names of my files, I want to underscores.

If you use export no you can't get rid of the spaces. Save for web, allows you to control your characters, but then it must create slices.

  • Strange and deadly file name / folder of the root problem. Help, please!

Hello. I wonder if someone could help me!

I'm on CS4, but this problem has happened yet in CS3. When I created a new site in Dreamweaver, I go through the usual motions by selecting the local root folder and the images folder. Then when I go to the new site how to create a cache of the original site as usual. After that (when I try to download anything for example) the cache seems to have disappeared (for example all files disappear them in DW). He told me that I should go through the implementation of the process of site once again, but this only ends up going round in circles!

Curiously, when I look at my HD in the finder, Dreamweaver has created a new folder named "Macintosh HD" and inside follows the same structure of exact file that 'real' local files unless the Web site files do not exist in the root folder.

I don't understand what is happening here. I suspect that it is perhaps something to do with the locations of files and relative / absolute which connects to the hard drive?

Please help if you can! Thank you.

    > My hard drive is named "Macintosh HD" and a path in the example would be:
    >
    > Macintosh HD/users/mike/Documents/Local Sites/Jukebox

What is a real exact path to a local site folder?

Are there "funky" characters as empty space left in the hd
name, or a sign of punctuation or above ascii in a folder name?

    Please follow these steps:
Open a new empty html file using the file-> new
--> do not save this file<>

Type some text in Design view
Select the text, and then create a link to this site "homepage" file using the
link icon of the folder in the property inspector

View code and copy the code from this link and paste it into the answer.
It should be a local absolute path as
    file:///harddrivename/users/username/folder/folder/index.html

  • The HTML - output folder Option and the path of file name change question

In the HTML Options to file and output file name I was wondering if I can change the name of the .chm automatically listed when I click on properties?

For example, when I click on properties for ABC_v456, which is a SSL in the project ABC123, I see "C:\Projects\ABC_v123\!" SSL!\Help_v456\ABC123.chm' in the output folder and file name field.  I would rename ABC123.chm in ABC456.chm for the love of light. When I compile it will then create a file .chm by ABC456.chm name rather than the name of the ABC123.chm file? I would have then two SSL in the HTML project called Help_v123 and Help_v456each and their respective .chm would be within each folder.  I speak of the sense or is this clarification requiring gibberish on my part? I use Robohelp HTML v7.

    Hi karima

You should be able to freely appoint the CHM everything that makes sense for you in the field.

I remember that too, you are perhaps involved in the development of CSH. If the name of the file could play an important role in that. But even after you generate the help, you should be able to rename it if you wish.

    See you soon... Rick

  • Virtual copies come first in the exported files?

Is there a good reason why the virtual copies, coming after the original in the library file, are named in a way that causes them to come before in the game exported JPEGs?  IE - ogfile.jpg and ogfile - 2.jpg.  When sorting by file name, the virtual copy is the first!  This totally counter-intuitive.  The original files should get a suffix-1 or the virtual copy must be named in the order.  Or am I missing something?

Lightroom uses the suffix "-2" to avoid name conflicts. The first pictures are exported with the file name that you set in the export dialog box. Since the two your master and VC were exported with the same file name - there is no way to avoid conflict, but to add a suffix.

If you want your master to have a "-1" suffix, you can control it by choosing a model of export file name, which includes a sequence # variable. For example:

    -

This will give you the expected results:

    • ogfile - 1.jpg
    • ogfile - 2.jpg
