  • Distinction with iPhoto Albums?

I have recently converted to pictures and there is a folder called iPhoto events that has all my old iPhoto albums events.  Can I just drag these albums outside of this folder and put on my list of the albums separately and use them as any other album or is there a distinction with them.  I have already learned about the distinction with smart albums, which do not count when I go try to find pictures that have not been assigned to any album (it's "Album is not a ' considers not assigned to a smart receiving photo album).  I'm worried about the other distinctions that are not present in the Help menu that may affect these iPhoto created albums.   Thank you.

They are just like any other album albums in a folder like any other folder

  • Some iPhoto albums appear empty with no sticker and say '0' when I fly over the album, but the photos are there when I double click.

To start, I read in countless discussions here on iPhoto glitches and patches, so I hope I'm not repeating this question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere I had a question after question with iPhoto (mainly around several accidents after organizing photos into albums that made the album organization and this issue I describe below) and is considering moving to Adobe Bridge just to have a reliable place to store my photos without worrying about the constant pain. I realize that no program is immune to glitches, but the volume and the frequency that I've had with iPhoto is unmatched (which led me to wonder if it is just a user error, but I honestly can't understand for the life of me). So I describe my current number below, in the hope of resolving the issue so that either A. I can fix and give iPhoto a chance more or B can I ensure that my photos are safe and intact before transfer to another program.

Some of my iPhoto albums appear empty with no sticker and say '0' when I fly over the album, but the photos are there when I open the album. I have rebuilt the thumbnails, and it has not solved the problem. After the other issues that I had with iPhoto crashes, I made sure that all updates have been installed. Unfortunately, I don't remember if I've rebuilt or repaired the database, but it seems that all my photos are present, all mixed together and some showing in the albums 'empty '. Here's my question: is one problem, other than being boring? And should I switch to another program, or have I missed something?

    A few details:

    • I have rebuilt thumbnails today and it took 5.5 hours. It seems completing without problem, but has not solved the problem.

    • I have my computer fully backed up on an external drive to Seagate drive as Mac OS extended (journaled) as well as iPhoto backed up separately on the drive as well.

    • Looks like I have a "library" and "alias."

    • I use iPhoto to organize my photos. I use Photoshop to edit. I love the feel of iPhoto, but I lost hours and hours trying to organize and solve problems.

    • I use iPhoto 11 version 9.4.3 OSX 10.8.5 / / MacBook Pro processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

More worrying is the issue of the repeated questions. How you use iPhoto and Photoshop together?

    Tabula Rasa:

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its function of reconstruction. (In early versions of the Library Manager, this is the file-> control Rebuild. In versions later it is under the menu library.)

This will create a completely new library. It will then copy (or try) your photos and all associated metadata and versions to this library and as close as possible to what you had in the damaged library fix it. It does this based on the information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but it means that things not shared won't be there, so no slide shows, books or calendars, for example - but it should recover all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places.

Because this process creates a completely new library and does not change your old, it is non-destructive, and if you are not satisfied with the result, you can simply go back to your old.

  • How to sort alphabetically shared albums?

Is there a way for me to sort my photo albums shared by alphabetical order (not the photos in the album, but the albums - and not regular or smart albums, shared albums)? I tried Ctrl click on the name of the album, and the space around the name of the album, who works for the regular albums, but does not have works for shared albums.

OS X Version of El Capitan 10.11.3

    Photos Version 1.3 (350.23.0)

The shared album list is automatically sorted by "Newest first" and there seems to be no way to change this. If you view the list of shared albums and go to the 'View' menu, ' View > sort ", you will see that the only option is 'Keep sorted newest first', and this option is grayed out and cannot not be changed.

  • How to export iPhoto album to the new library

    Mac Mini 10.11.3

    iPhoto 9.6.1

I wrote a few minutes ago, but not sure that he knew.

I am trying to create multiple iPhoto libraries.  No problem with doing this.  Question is how to export iPhoto albums to new libraries.  I just want to drag an album on but it does not work.   I tried to import but can not find albums.  Not sure if I can find events either.  Tried but they do not load.  I tried export from iPhoto, but new library saved on the desktop is shaded on.

What are the steps to move albums or events to the new library?

    Thank you very much

    Tzipora

iPhoto does not support to move books between libraries.  You can select all photos in an album and export them to a file, and then import the folder with pictures to the library.

Or buy iPhoto Library Manager. It supports the moving parts between iPhoto libraries more easily.

You can download a free trial here: Fat Cat Software

But you need the full version and paid to move items between libraries.

  • My iPhoto albums will continue to be organized in Photos?

What will make the pictures of my collection of iPhoto 30 000 images and videos?

1 albums. I have three albums iPhoto (personal, professional, and documents) and I don't want them mixed.  They can share a screen, but they must stay together. Will they?

2 tests. My photos are organized by events, rather than albums. (Maybe not the best diet, but I'm stuck with it).  My events are years and contain pictures drawn together from different sources at different times. For example, the "2001" event contains prints and documents from this year there scanned for long thereafter, as well as videos and digital photos actually taken in 2001. Photos can all together when he uses not events?

3 titles. To sort my pictures with each event I've marked them regularly. A typical title begins with a date in reverse: 2001.12.25 Christmas-1, for example. I select 'Sort by title' and images of my year line up chronologically, whenever they were actually imported. (Yes, I'm a historian). An album consists of documents, organized also manually to the line upwards by title. What will be the pictures at all when I import from iPhoto?

I would appreciate hearing of some practical experiences as he puts me to order a new mac. I looked at the copy of a friend of Photos and it does not seem to have transferred the events in an orderly way, but maybe there's a way to do it?

    I am currently using iPhoto 11 9.4.3 on a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.5 2011

Transfer albums is like records - events are converted into albums and stored in a folder called iPHoto events - smart albums move only to the extent of the possible (since the Photos was not the exact same set of features as iPhoto smart albums don't yield - such as those based on events, for example)

It's description of Apple of the transfer - How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

Transfer of securities insofar as you have entered them - you don't have to activate them in Photos under the view menu == > metadata

  • IPhoto albums - surplus to remove

I always use IPhoto as opposed to Photo - are all just more easy.  Problem is the best way to clean unwanted or surplus photos.  Over the years, thousands of photos are uploaded and I usually sort the best of them in Albums.

Now - years later - my hard drive is full and I would like to delete these photos that I don't want.

If I go to the import of the last 18 months had to delete them ALL would it automatically removes these specific pictures that were copied in Albums?

    Would appreciate your help.

Yes, if you delete all the photos in the album of the past 18 months, it will delete everything.

You could create a smart album with the rule

This smart album will show all recent photos that aren't in any album.   Ensure that the 'Match' switch is set to 'All' and not 'ALL'.

  • Update iTunes 12.0.4.119 does not sort by artist album?

With the last iTunes update, all my compilations are now classified under V (for various artists), even though at least half of them are not compilations of real and I prefer that they are filed with the main artist.  For example, the last album tribute to George Harrison (George Fest), I have the compilation box checked and individual artists listed for each track.  However, in the artist field album, I put "Harrison, George (Various Artists)" while the album is ranked immediately after my albums of George Harrison.  Now she is mixed with because v that the iTunes update eliminated the ability to sort by album artist.  I'm missing something here, or should I wait for the next update and hope they add this back in?

iTunes will sort albums separately if the indicator "the Album is a compilation...". "is checked.  Unless you use an iPod Classic or another older iDevice, you can clear this check box and simply use the Album artist tag as you describe.

  • Sort of Iphoto, photo libraries on 2 macbooks

I had a macbook 2008 pro running Mountain Lion with installed Iphotos and main library of 96 GB. I used the ILM of Fat Cat software to fix my libraries various periods in recent years, always successfully, with the help of this forum.

This fall the HD died, and when it was repaired the repairman elected to install Yosemite.

I had not planned to move Photos from Iphoto, but in the week after getting the computer repaired in return, I stupidly opened Photos. I don't remember exactly what I was trying to run, but I did a number of serious mistakes and ended up playing with the libraries in the two programs in ways that make them virtually unusable, then briefly tried to rebuild things using the Fat Cat software library manager programs ILM and PowerPhoto.

I'm done with a photo program that works very well, but is severely incomplete (I don't know how) and, as I had been warned, if only I had listened to, does not have metadata that I use all the time.

The program iPhoto (currently 9.6.1), a miniature of everything, all my metadata, complete lists of all the albums I've done over the years, but a lot of his photos will not be open. I just get an exclamation point.

My goal now is to try to repair the main Iphoto library, then I'm back as many features as possible.  Is it too late or can you suggest a way to approach this problem?  I have previous backups on external hard drives, but don't want to lose my most recent photos.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Two things to add:

I don't think that I put pictures correctly on the macbook - it is not by adding new photos, so the last pictures inside are from July 2015.  I guess there is a simple way to hang it in the cloud?

The title of my message referred to as two macbooks - I have a MBP 2015 Photos running, but has decided to limit this issue on a single computer.

  • Sort by year, album, disc number

I think the rocket and the clip kind something like (alphabetically) artist > album (alphabetically) > songs (according to track number). It would be better if this was sorted in this way: (alphabetically) artist > album (per year) > songs (with number of disk first, then track number) so if you have multiple disc albums, they are sorted properly. Or at least the possibility of being able to sort out this way. I played a bit with tags drive and the "rocket" numbers so the clip still doesn't sort them properly. If this has been corrected or added I think it will help a lot of people looking for a more refined way of sorting.

    Simply his preface to the existing track number by numero_disque followed by a "." would be highly desirable, i.e. D1, T1 > 1.01; D4, T23 > 4.23; etc.

    ???

I think he meant something like that

Artist > title > disk. Track

So if I understand it would be

    Kiss > Kissology > 1.12 (disc 1 track 12)

This seems a bit messy. A cleaner way would be:

    Artist > Album > track 1 (Disc 1)

    Track 2 (Disc 1)

    Track 1 (Disc 2)

    Track 2 (Disc 2)

.. (drive x) .with be invisible then it will look in the same way the "rocket" and clip already do. Just the sort is fixed.

Edit: actually I just checked the fuse and the clip and that's exactly how they sort with the appropriate disk labels

From what I remember, it's this track 1 from these two records would be just below or above eachother. If this problem occurs again I'll post on this lol.
