Sorting photos of Mac

Returning from a trip abroad with 3 other members of the family, I imported shots of all 4 cameras in Photos.

They are NOT like an album separate for each camera (as in the days of 'old'), but only by day of the month.

BUT NOT within the day: many times 2 of my photos from iPhoto, dismantled the seconds, find themselves separated by 10-20 + pictures of the other cameras.  If there is a lot of pictures in each day (as there is in my favorites), it is incredibly long to identify similar delete.

QUESTION: Can I re - sort pictures of travel by the camera used?  Can if not this, I sort by time-of-day better?

We cannot see you, but generally, this is caused by the settings of different times on different cameras

You cannot change the sorting - Photos is only by date/time with the most recent pictures down

You can make a smart album for each camera (menu, file == > new smart album - criteria camera is [select from the drop-down list] and if one or more adjustments of seed for correct settings, you can choose for your travel photos and use the image menu == > set time control to correct)

  • Is Photos from mac to improve?

I transferred most of my photos from IPhoto on Photos.

IPhoto has worked very well with changes in lots of place names etc.

Also I could find pictures by location, date etc.

You cannot sort photos by date (except the date entered in the system and I have thousands of pictures scanned years)

You can not get photos by location so that you can not find pictures easily, as you could in Iphoto

One who introduced pictures is completely incompetent

There are fixed, I should migrate everything to Iphoto or should I find another system - either on mac or PC

    Thank you

    Geoff Lubbock

Sorry, but you need to share information to help and yu have to worry about learning to use the new software - all new software has a learning curve

You posted in iPhoto for Mac forum and State to have OS X 10.6.2 that cannot run pictures - what you actually?

In the current version of Photos (OS X 10.11.4) and Photos 1.5

    1. you lot change names, places, keywords, etc. in neutrophilia a group of photos and find information and entering the information you want - it applies to all selected photos

    2. you can find photos by location, date, etc using the search command or the smart albums (menu, file == > new smart album)

    3. you can sort the photos in albums of the user by title and date up and down - and you can make your own "all photos" album with the help of a smart album with a criterion that fits everything as the date is earlier than 1/1/5000 - then you can sort you want

4 - Yes you can get the photos by location (see #2) - as the Italy-text search or use a smart album for description includes the location

and of course who have already submitted Photos is definitely not incompetent - they expect just the users to care about learning to use the software - all in all a great idea for a lifetime

  • Sort Photos to add a place

Is there an easy way to sort my images that have no places geotagged photos for Mac so I can start to add locations?   I have a lot of pictures taken with my DSLR that don't have GeoTagging and just migrated to the Photos.  They have a date and what not but I want to sort all these photos, and then cross over batch and add the tag of geo.

I see that I can mass select them and then mass add the location (because many of them have the same location) but I can't find an easy way to narrow the list down to only the photos that are not the location info.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.  Create a smart album with the following criteria:

As you assign locations, they are automatically deleted from the smart album.

  • What is a good replacement for Photos for Mac

I got my photos sorted by year and month in iPhoto, app Photos The destroyed that.  What is a good replacement for Photos for Mac I had digital pictures in 1999.  It will take me months to recover.  So what is a good replacement, needless organized storage edition, just logical.   Is there a product that I can export Photos to the?   The Photos application is too slow and freezes; It's just all around a mediocre product.

Migrating from iPHoto to Photos doesn't "destroy" anything - it keeps your albums events and converted into albums - pictures 2.0 vs iPhoto 9.6.1: features and capabilities - how many Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

and of course iPhotos 9.6.1 still works very well - if you do not keep your system up to date see can't update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

You can export Photos in keeping the Organization of moments - you can export iPhotos keeping the exporting from iPhoto event organization

As to products - it's your choice - you can use the finder to organize into folders and preview to display pictures - or you can use one of the many programs available ranging from the free to the very expensive

I use Photos so am not upward on the different options and I suspect most of the volunteers here are the same and the answer is going to be personal anyway - no one but yo can do

  • Photos for Mac behaves VERY strangely since the upgrade to Sierra

    Hi all.

I have improved my mid 2010 MacBook Pro for macOS Sierra September 21.

The first time I launched the Photos app after the upgrade, I got the usual message on photo library updated, but when that reaches 100%, I noticed that he was missing a large number of thumbnails in my library. The photos in question were display in miniature (or 'moments') view as pale gray rectangles with a cloud icon in their breast.

I don't immediately panic, because I assumed that they would gradually repopulate for a little while. I got "Storage optimize Mac", the value of preferences so all of my original pictures must be in iCloud. I have a Time Capsule, make automatic backups, and I made a backup Time Machine on which, immediately before the upgrade, so I am reasonably confident that I did not really lose my photos, (and all of my pictures and their thumbnails are present & correct on my iPhone).

But, almost a fortnight after the upgrade, most of my thumb nails is always reported missing since the Photos of Mac application, which makes it very difficult to find pictures of course.

Last night I noticed that the Photos app showed 'Uploading photos 10 985 nnnnnn' at the foot of the view of the times, with the first digit decreases slowly, so I disabled the options to ensure that my Mac doesn't go to sleep and I let it run until the download was complete energy saving. Then, he showed "updated... "at the foot of the view of the times for a while.

I was hoping that my thumb nail would be back after that, but they are not!

It seems that the Photos app is not sync with my iCloud storage, for any reason, or at least if it does not in fact what it has synchronized.

A double click on these thumbnails blank to open the photo is not consistent either. On some that I try to open, they do not open, and when I return to the thumbnail display the thumbnail is now also. But on others I try to open I just see a completely white area where the photo should be. However (and this is really weird!) when I return to the thumbnail display after those I see very very briefly the photos as they will shrink to the size of the thumbnail, and then they are virgins thumbnails with clouds still...

I wonder if I should change the preference of Photos of 'optimization of storage' to 'download the originals' in an effort to recover my thumb nails. It seems that I have almost 62 GB of free space on my Mac, and my Gallery of photos shows that there are currently 31GB. Or do I have to re - install the Photos app? (Is it possible?)

Or is there a better solution to the problem please?

Thank you for all the helpful tips.

try to turn a thumbi = nail and reotating back - if it suits it you can do so for groups of up to about 1000 photos at once to correct quickly - how rebuild thumbnails in a photo library

  • where to download photos for Mac (instead of iPhoto)

I guess I'll have to go to El Capitan, so I can use photos for Mac instead of iPhoto I crashes.

Are the Photos of Max, a free program, and where I can get it? I'm looking on the Apple site and find information on how it is good, but no place to download. Thank you.

Update OSX to El Capitan, Photos is included

  • When you create a calendar in Photos for Mac, I can't work on the use of more than one Photo per month

I created a calendar using Photos for Mac (picture 1,5).

However, I can't create each month using several photos. It is the first calendar, I've done since the change of iPhoto pictures. I know I used to be able to choose various options for layout, including several photos in iPhoto. I just hope that it is something simple that I forgot.

    Thanks in advance.

Right-click on a photo placed and select layout options - you have options from one to seven photos here

  • Can see, but can not access, photos of iPhotos migrate Photos for Mac

    Hello

I transferred my my former (white) mac's iPhoto library to my new Macbook Air. I now see my iPhotos on Photos of Mac, but I'm unable to export or share (nothing happens if I click on these options), or even copy and paste. If I try to contact by e-mail or page that they do not appear on my photos via the Finder (but I can see more recent pictures no iPhotos initially). So basically I can see them, but can do something with them.

    Everyone knows about this problem?

If this does not occur, my only thought as to what this may be the case is due to an error in the migration? I have now installed Library upgrade on my new Mac (I think I was already use when migrating on the old Mac but don't remember the details), but so that he can see my iPhotos library, it is grayed out, so I can't try and apply the upgrade to the library via new Mac. So I'm stuck again. (if it's the solution, I'm not sure it's..)

Does anyone have any ideas what is the problem and how to fix? Where is possible it's just a failure of Apple/iphotos old photos have no Photos for Mac features?

    Thank you!!

    It certainly has the feature.

Have you tried to repair the library: back to the top and then press the command and option (or alt) keys all by launching Photos. The dialog that allows you to rebuild.

  • My library 'Photos' of Mac does not appear in the menu of left iMovie.

My library 'Photos' of Mac does not appear in the menu of left iMovie.

What version of iMovie using you?  Only iMovie 10.x.x can view the photo library. Older versions of iMovie are incompatible.

My library 'Photos' of Mac does not appear in the menu of left iMovie.

The library never showed?  Check if your library currentPhotos is attached to the photo library of the system.

Pictures of launch and open the preferences. The button "use as system library" must be grey, as shown in this screenshot. If the button is gray, click it, and then restart iMovie and Photos or restart your Mac.

It may take some time after you set up your library of Photos, before it becomes visible in the media browser.  Photos needs to create previews, and's done it by background processes, let it run overnight.

If the library does not appear, repair the photo library, as described here: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/index.html#/pht6be18f93

Is your photo library a library of iCloud? Fix library will be to download again to iCloud. Fix it only as a last resort.

  • How to transfer Photos on Mac files to reset iPhone

The software on my iPhone 5s is corrupted by the employee of the Genius Bar. She suggested I go back to iTunes, and then back up my photos for the Photos on my Mac, then reset the iPhone and set up as a 'new' phone. That would eliminate the corrupted software. My concerns are:

-How can I get photos of the Photos on my Mac app to my iPhone?

-How can I copy my "notes" back to the iPhone? It shows that some are saved on my gmail account and others to my AOL account.

-all my contacts will be copied to the iPhone when I sync with iTunes?

-What happens to the data in the apps on my iPhone? Record Fiitness, game scores, etc., it is in the apps in iTunes and will be copied to my iPhone without losing any data?

The Genius Bar employee was able to tell that the system software is corrupted and therefore needs to be reset. Randomly, my phone crashes and restarts.

    Thanks for any help!

There's an iPhone forum where you need to ask questions of the iPhone

On Photos for Mac issues easier to migrate the Photos to IOS devices use iCloud photo library- iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple support - it is constant and totally automatic and all changes made to any device (additions, deletions, or modifications) are made on all devices

  • What are some editing apps good free photo for Mac, other than the Photos of Apple?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to see what free apps, you guys use for editing photos?  I have a photography class to come and play with options other than the use of pictures of the Apple app.  Nothing against the app, I just learn more.  Thank you.

Strange question to the users of the forum pictures - of course, the answer is Photos for Mac

Photos is optional and if you don't like it, then, Google is your friend

    Hello

I have a silly question: is it possible to sort photos by date within Albums? I know that if I choose 'photos' mode they are arranged by date, but when I chose pictures to create a new album, they are not sorted by date.

What version of Photos do you use?

In Photos 1.3, you can sort photos by date in an album.

Select the album in the sidebar, ctrl-click, click "Sort" and select "keep sorted by...» ».

To bring up the sidebar enter the key combination command-option-S ⌥⌘S

  • The transition from iPhoto (old Mac) to Photos (new Mac) - advice?

Just bought a new MBP and all OS improvements that accompany it. Still using 10.9.x on my old unit and have migrated manually everything that I need, except my pictures. To make matters a little more difficult, I used iPhotoBuddy as well, so I have several libraries. Anyone have advice on how to manually transfer the files to the new MBP less difficult/most effectively?

    All advice appreciated. Thank you.

    1 - sure iPhoto 9.6.1

2 - notes on the migration of an iPhoto for iPhoto to Photos for Mac library

    3. There is no way to merge libraries with Photos (or iPHoto) - you can on your old system using Aperture or iPhoto Library Manager or on the new system using PowerPhotos - or you can continue to use the libraries under Photos mutiple (usually not a good idea, but if you like it you can)
