Sourcefire DC 3500 performance very slow

Hello

I am running two 3500 DC devices in a high availability pair on DC version 5.4.1.2 and finds that most of the tasks on the GUI, including just connect, opening the dashboard, political editing and especially applies to policies, seems painfully slow.  According to what I am pulling upward, it may take 45 seconds to open any page and sometimes 3 + minutes to open a policy.  Could be just me picky, but it's the kind of performance that others see?  I find myself not wanting to open the pages lack of reaction.

I recently tried to cut some of my data in the database of limits to see if that would help and it didn't.  I executed the script of DBCheck.pl of the CLI, and this resulted in a good number of warnings of db, but no error.

Any ideas of things, I look to optimize performance?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hello

No we don't have a loop script that fixes all the tables. And apart from that, there is also a script for the optimization of the tables. In addition, you can also check the number of connection on your defense Center events and to check on the card the maximum number of & supported.

I would definitely say you can open evidence of the TAC, so that they can provide you with scripts accordingly.

Kind regards

Aastha Bhardwaj

  • Performance very slow satellite M60

Hi, I have an m60 with 17 "display, go6600 nvidia 128 MB, 2 GHz cpu, 512ram, 80 GB hard drive
All drivers/bios are up to date... but I'm very disappointed, as overall, the machine is quite slow...

There is a kind of latency on everyhting do you... loading the software, at the opening of new messages in outlook, text selection, open files, etc etc...
I tried everything, including a complete reinstallation of windows, but nothing...

I realized that the machine was hot enough in the box wireless then decided to disable it in the control panel connection options. What has improved the overall performance... but it's still not what you expect from this type of machine.

My other machine pentium 3 is almost faster with only 256ram... HARD drive seems to work a lot with a few short moments of "freeze up" like that, nothing happens and nothing can be done on the machine... sometimes there is also a sort of flicker of the screen as if had changed the settings of the screen... across the keyboard/keypad area becomes very hot , and often runs even if outlook is open...

The keyboard is also very difficult to use, it really takes to each in the Center and almost pressed button for one second to get out the letter.

I'd be really grateful if someone of you could give me some advice! machine at just 6 months old and is a replacement already the one I had first with the CPU remains at 100% all the time after starting just. Is there a problem with the M60?

Thanks for the comments and advice

    Hi Pete

As you know most laptop performance depends on configuration personal because laptop comes with factory settings should work well. Many users have own and favorite configuration and sometimes it can totally choke with the operating system and make it very, very slow and annoying for its use.

As much as I know the M60 is a pretty powerful unit with a good graphics card and the performance of God game. The keyboard problem is known, but it must also be resolved through replacement of keyboard (M60 is the first laptop with NUMPAD).

I'm sure that with the right software, your device configuration will work very good and stable.

  • Re: Performance very slow Satellite C855-1GN - startup procedure takes 15 min

My sister bought a Satellite C855-1GN installed with Win7 64bits in December (typical - 4 days of warranty now) and for a time found it getting more slower.

She asked me to take a look for her, and she is quite right, that this laptop is appalling insensitive to even the most basic tasks such as opening Windows Explorer, which takes more than a minute to open.

It's a similar story about any button on this machine, sometimes longer depending on what has been clicked. Getting even the startup thing of press office being visible (and even less usable) takes a staggering 15 minutes more.

Text input, such the password of user to connect to Windows, or a URL in any browser (IE and chrome installed by default) causes the circle of rotation equivalent to an hourglass at least 60 seconds before anything happens, as does pretty much any click button. For example, Windows Start button or right click on anything whatsoever.

Initially, I suspected some kind of malware / too much garbage installed. A ran full scans, no problem. Disabled / uninstalled all the bloatware, that I could find, still no difference.
Close all the features, always terribly slow for energy savings.

Windows experience / Task Manager / resmon all report nothing out of the ordinary or anything by eating resources. In desperation, provided Out Of Box Experience with the help of the hidden restore partition... who took more than 24 hours to complete, and is not an exaggeration.

I went to bed, then work during the day, and he had not yet finished until I had been home for a couple of hours.

This machine now has a completely new (although specific Toshiba) install Win7, and runs just as horribly slow. I'm still waiting for the office, 17 minutes after power on before typing this. It took several resets and is yet to install anything.

6 GB of RAM is ample. While not a P3, 5 or 7, there is no way that an Intel B950 double heart clocked to a class, certainly not top than 2.10 GHz can be this slow (that is a few months ago), I had the terrible Celeron in my time, which were infinitely faster than that.

Has anyone else had a performance of same pathos of this model? If so, we are anyone of you is able to solve it? Or should we bin just this paperweight?

    Hello

In the past, we've discussed several times on similar problems, and some people were dissatisfied with the performance of the portable nine pre-installed with original recovery image.
Small example, you can check this thread. In general it is described you can do with this machine. You, I prefer to use the word optimize operating system preinstalled. It will run better and faster.

Otherwise it can also be problem with HARD drive. If your sister love this machine, I recommend a small investment in new hardware. Exchange HARD SSD drive. SSD aren't so cheap anymore so you can buy one, I would say, with 250 GB and I think that there is enough free space for their work.

You can't imagine how fast they are. I use on my old P500. Laptop starts in just 40 seconds.

I m pretty sure with new SSD and optimized original Win7 that you got your sister with this laptop will have a good and pretty fast machine.

Wow, proof that Yosemite - can - run on only 2 GB of memory. I had not thought that it was possible in the real world.

If you are serious about not not upgrade the RAM I would recommend uninstalling/disabling the Flash Player and possibly disable Java Script as well. WEBCONTENT is currently the #1 drain resource on your mac, in order to prevent intensive pieces more than memory of the internet of the race should improve performance throughout the system. Usually I also recommend also downgrade to a less intensive old OS version resources such as the Mavericks or Mountain Lion, but given that you must have been to Yosemite for months I guess it works for you.

  • Firefox 10 - installed and the performance is very slow, unresponsive while trying to load websites.

Just noticed the other day on my server and it could have been thought Nvidia driver. Update that and same result with Firefox very slow in delay/performance while making the web pages? Downgraded to Firefox 9.0 and problem solved. Return to previous performance levels.

Just received and installed the update for Firefox worm 10.02 and voila... all the symptoms of the problems I had been able to correct themselves? Always curious what the issue was with my install in Server 2008? Have the latest Firefox installed in Fedora 16-64 bit and works without a problem. I have dual boot this machine between the two O/S once again, thanks to all who offered suggestions or advice about my problems.

  • Qosmio G30-126 (PQG32E) - very slow performance of HARD drive

I have improved my Qosmio G30 126 at 4 GB of Ram, SSD 64 HDD as windows7 boot partition and 500 GB 7200 64cache HARD drive as drive HARD secondary but I have a very slow HARD drive performance when working in windows7, but when I work on a virtual machine Windows XP, the disk HARD perforemance is fine.

I've upgraded all drivers from toshiba.com for windows7 ultimate 32-bit drivers including drivers from the chipset intel but my problem is not solved. I also check all other performance issues and its OK.

The same problem exsists on my old HARD drive on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.

I used HD tune software to check my HARD drive it accelerates gives about 100bps in windows 7 for my SSD and it gives 285mbps (this is the actual read speed) in the machine virtual Windows XP and the actual speed is significantly different.

Please tell me what to do because I suffer from my laptop very slow and spend a lot of mony on it without more.

    Hello

To be honest it is really hard to tell why you have slow HARD drive performance but especially it s associated with a large number of programs they are running in the background. How many processes are started after Windows starts?

Also, the antivirus program may affect the performance of the computer. I would recommend using the AntiVir freeware tool and the Windows Firewall. That's enough if keep you Windows up-to-date and use a new Internet browser.

Also check the other discussions of the forum on the slow performance. You can find a lot of useful tips to improve performance. For example:
    -Defragment HARD drive
-Disable the startup programs you don't need
    -Uninstall unnecessary programs
-Run the CCleaner tool to remove old registry keys

  • Satellite T110-11U: WLan connection dropped and very slow performance

    Hi people,

I use a Satellite T110-11U running windows 7 Home premium.

After having initially was very satisfied with its use, it now becomes more and more frustrating to use with wifi, with connections dropped and very slow performance.

I have updated the BIOS and think I have updated all drivers wirelss, but could be the problem. It seems that wireless, software of management is at fault because the networks are detected, but not clinging.

Any suggestion or tips to try will help save my sanity!

    Thanks for your help.

    John

    > have updated the BIOS and think I have updated all drivers wirelss, but could be the problem.
If you need to make sure that you use the latest WLan driver.
The driver can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

The laptop uses the Realtek RTL8191SE of WLan card.
Please also reset the settings of the Wlan router. I had a lot of problems with my WLan and after the reset of the router, performance problems disappeared.

  • How can I improve the performance of my compaq presario V2000, its very slow

How can I improve the performance of my compaq presario V2000, its very slow!

According to many things (specifications, you have now installed vs the programs he came originally with programs, etc.)-it may or may not work better that ever he does now.  However, in terms of nothing other than the software and others on the subject - there are some things you can do to optimize performance.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in.  Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.)  You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory.  This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do some cleaning and dusting off this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

(Especially of interest here - #4)
    (Variant: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm )

You can run disk - integrated into Windows XP - cleanup to erase everything except your last restore point and yet more 'free '... files cleaning

    How to use disk cleanup
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310312

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

    CCleaner (free!)

While probably not 100% necessary-, it is probably a good idea at this time to ensure that you continue to get the updates you need.  This will help you ensure that your system update is ready to do it for you.

Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
(Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

    (Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

    Reset.

    and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your C:\ drive. After you register on the root of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:

Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.

    AutoScan--> RUN and type:
    %SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
    --> Click OK.

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

    Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update (you * NOT * use the aggressive version):

    Reset.

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are updates and should work fine - it is only only one other thing you pouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end.  This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

  • HP Elitebook 8570p - Windows XP USB very slow and the transfer rate performance issues.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone else knows some performance issues with the HP Elitebook 8570p and Windows XP Pro - SP3.

I get a VERY slow start, general poor performance (waiting time when opening files and programs).

I asked to burn in tests that show that everything is good.

USB transfer rates are VERY slow (tried all ports of a Seagate FreeAgent USB drive, which works fine on other laptops etc.) for example a 30-minute transfer a 7gig single file of the USB HD on the desktop. Only 3 minutes to do the same on another laptop.

I think there are problems with the drivers, like Windows 7 works very well and does boot from a bootable USB.

USB transfer rate are also good when starting from a Windows boot environment.

I installed HP SoftPaq Download Manager, and all the drivers are up to date.

    Hello:

I think outside of the box here... Select the Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller instead.

If it does not, I raise the white flag.

  • Very slow performance with Windows 7 on i7 Quad

I bought my wife a Lenovo E530 i7 quad with screen 1600 x 900 and running Win 7 in September 2012. Previously, she had an Asus Core 2 Duo also with Win 7. The laptop is used to picture (scanning, editing, cataloging) work, family, the navigation and email history.

The E530 was desperately slow at the beginning. Not better, not faster than the Asus. Performance seems to vary from slow to excruciatingly slow.

    Features include:

    -very slow to open programs

-slow to react to the choice of menus and clicks

-slow to react to the touchpad

-scrolling is not smooth, vibrates, much worse than Asus

-often distorts the sound and video, audio stutters

-IE9 make often video has properly - green band across the bottom with the rest of the colors shifted upward - change the video quality will fix it sometimes

-very slow internet response compared to the other machines on the same network of navigation.

However, startup speed seems to be OK.

I spent weeks (months?) through the forums, verification of updates, deletion and restoration of various programs and drivers looking for driver clashes. I tried the clean boot with only Windows drivers and various other combinations, and it made no difference.

For a long time wifi would be max 54 Mbps but somewhere through the process he begins to operate at up to 300Mbps.

Nothing seems to stand out in reports on health of the system and the event viewer. Windows experience scores seem to be everything I expected from my older i7.

Resources and performance monitor reports a problem with the hard drive:

The average disk queue length = Max 16 = 106

    %Idle = 0

    Disk read/s Ave = 0.093 Max = 3

    Disk sec/Transfer Ave = 0,067 Max = 1

    Disk s/write = 0.022 Ave

Even when the computer runs slower the CPU usage, and memory usage is not mounted and ceiling ever.

SFC report any breach of integrity.

FixIt MS - slow performance does not detect any problems.

The disk check is not a problem any.

It's so frustrating that my wife threatens to throw it in the trash and buy a Mac (the horrors :-)).

Any ideas on what I might have missed or what I should look at?

    Thank you

Wish I had a 128 GB SSD. I suppose you see a serious helping hand to the performance of the system.

  • Client performance is very slow

On the part of the Oracle database and E-Business applications track, I installed the PA for the Oracle database and the extension of the PA of E - Biz.

The location of the servers the PA Middleware and collector is in WE (Boston) , while the PA Client is installed on the local machines in India (New Delhi).

The PA Client performance is very slow while we move from one screen to another.

I know that it is clearly the bottleneck of bandwidth bandwidth/latency network, always looking for suggestions to mitigate.

I think that the network latency is your problem here. The two recommendations that I have are:

    (1) use the web interface in the UI Foglight. This should perform better especially if you use a local FglAM to the collector and middleware.

    (2) use a terminal server server or virtual office in Boston to install thick client PA. This will give you the best user interface response times.

    Thank you

  • In ESXi 5 very slow network performance

We have recently updated one of our servers to ESXi 4.1 to 5. It's a Dell PowerEdge T300 with 24 GB of RAM. It used to run very fast, but after the network upgrade is very slow. We have another server that is still running ESXi 4.1 which runs very fast.

I noticed the slowness of the network in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 systems. When I copy a file from the ESXi 5 hosted VM to a physical machine on our network, I get between 2 to 4 Mbps. When I copy the ESXi 4.1 hosted VMS on the same physical machine, I get 80Mbps.

I tried to disable TCP unloading on the physical machine and virtual (and both) computers with no improvement.

I also performed a capture of the WireShark packages on one of the virtual machines Win 7. I noticed one interesting thing is that there was a lot of duplicate ACK packets when you transfer a file on SMB. I didn't know where to go to from there.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Check the BIOS of the server ESXI 5 and see if this physical NETWORK card sharing resource IRQ with another device and change it if it is.

  • Very slow network performance

I have a Dell T610 running ESXi 4 with a pair of built in maps network gigabit Broadcom BCM 5709, to which I've also added a gigabit dual port Intel 82576 NIC they are all plug a Cisco 3560 24 ports switch. There are a couple of virtual machines on this computer and there was near zero, a network, or activity of the CPU during the following tests as they were made during off-peak hours.

I noticed a few updates takes a long time to download and, after completed and restarting the virtual machines, I decided to perform a speed test that indicates the very slow network performance. But the performance is slower on one NETWORK card to another. Reduce the ports available to virtual machines on a single NETWORK card, that's what I got.

Using Speedtest.net as a gauge running on a dedicated XP Guest:

The Broadcom and Intel befriended 5Mbps showed and sometimes 10 Mbps.

Only Broadcom showed between 13-18Mbps from one trial to another.

Intel showed only 4-5 Mbps. never more than 5 Mbps!

Physical work stations connected to the same switch showed 45Mbps repeatedly!

All ports were originally configured as auto negotiate. I tried locking time ESXi and the Cisco switch to 1 GB Full duplex with no significant difference in the overall performance.

Has anyone seen this? Have you found a solution?

I got a similar promblem - found that the VM - NIC has been set at the 'flexible' type and VM-Ware tools were not properly installed.

As I was not able to install (linux, no gcc), I've removed the NETWORK card and put in again as an adapter 'e1000 '. From here, I had transferrates as expected ;-)

    I hope this helps...
