SP3 update ready to ask - confused on how to proceed

Hello - victory xp/sp2/I.E. 6 x /outlook express

I see that SP3 is already downloaded on my computer and ready to install it when I visit ' windows update/express "... but also read the newsletter on the installation and her below has been recommended... but how I 'disconnect' from the internet while staying at" windows update / install sp3 without losing anything?     Help, please!  I'm totally confused... .thanks in advance!

Among the proposals from microsoft:
(1) download the full installation of SP3 file or burn the ISO download to
CD.
(2) ensure (as is likely) you have no spyware/malware by making a full
Scan with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.
(3) CHKDSK
(4) defragment
(5) make sure that your drivers are up to date (from the material
respective web pages of the manufacturer).
(6) reboot just before that you try to install SP3.
(7) disconnect from the internet before installing (physically).
(8) disable your antivirus and software anti spyware applications when you're around
install SP3.

Hi 2simba,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

Since you receive a message that SP3 is already downloaded, you must not download it manually. You shouldn't burn it to CD.

However a link to download the sp3 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en

To Unplug of the internet before installing (physically). Follow the steps below.

If you use a wired connection, and then remove the network cable (visible at the rear of the central processing unit).

If you use a wireless connection then remove USB data card for the computer.

Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

If your computer is hijacked, then you should address that more that you need to fix this minor update. However, under the resolution of your problem to update, you can try this:

    Assume Windows XP

Check the C:\Windows\System32\ directory for the presence of the file tzchange.exe

If the file is not present or if the version of the file is not 5.1.2600.6171 or newer...

Of course, replace [path to the downloaded file] with the path to the downloaded file.

Citations may or may not be required depending on the path. Place the x - out the citations if you use them.

Choose a location for the extracted files (a new folder is recommended)

Locate the extracted files. File tzchange.exe you want and copy it into C:\windows\System32

That rerun Windows Update detection to see if the problem is resolved.

I don't understand exactly how errors in the two newspapers are related, but my opinion is that, if I can solve my CheckSUR.log errors, CBS.log errors will disappear to, and then I might even be able to install SP1.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    1 person needs an answer

For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...

After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up.  But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition SP3 - updated moved

What is the error you receive when installing the update?

Restart the computer to boot and download and install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP3 update and check.

If this isn't SP1A or SP2 you will not be able to install SP3. You will first need to install SP2.

Using a Windows 7, 16 k RAM system, always had normal installation of updates when there is a "!" stated in the stop start button. Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.
