SQL Developer ignoring NLS preferences

I'm having and issue with SQL Developer Version 3.2.20.09 where my settings in the preferences of NLS Date and time are not used for the nls_session_parameters.

I changed the Date Format to DD-MM-RRRR HH24:MM:SS in preferences by default, but when I run new sessions format remains the default DD-MON-RR as a game being checked when I run

SELECT *.
OF nls_session_parameters

If I run

ALTER session set NLS_DATE_FORMAT = ' HH24:MM:SS RRRR-MM-DD ".

I can get information to display the way I want it, but it resets whenever I start a new session.

Hello
change your settings to RRRR-MM-JJ HH24:MM:SS for HH24:Mi:SS of DD-MM-RRRR and see

    Hi Chuck,

No preference for this, but, as far as I know, a third-party extension should be a help for versions of SQL Developer to 3.2:

    SQL Developer Extension Keep-Alive created!

For 4.0, the third-party developer will have to update the extension.  Do not know if it took steps again:

Keepalive Developer SQL does not work in 4.0

  • Issue of Oracle SQL Developer

    Hello

The problem is that when I execute queries "heavy" through SQL Developer (v. 4.1.1.19 or back) the IDE does not meet any other action during the execution of the query (queries) (I can't cancel the task). I mean if want to connect to another diagram or choose an option from the menu of the IDE, then I have to open a second window of SQL Developer. Why is it so... Is this something I did wrong?

After further investigation, I think that the following tips will help you to avoid situations where a request seems to have been cancelled but...

    1. He continues to run on the DB.

    2. subsequent attempts to use or to break this connection are blocked.

    3. another action (as if we were trying to close SQL Developer) causes the interface user to hang completely.

Your first choice should be to install an Oracle client (full or instant) and configure SQL Developer in Tools > Preferences > Database > advanced to use the JDBC OCI/thick driver.

If you do not want to install an Oracle client and prefer to use the JDBC Thin driver by default, then adding this to the file sqldeveloper.conf to your installation should help:

AddVMOption - .net .disableOob Doracle = true

The full dump thread you provide merely reflects the fact that the request does not actually get cancelled, the login is locked, and any other attempts to use it will hang. Anyway, as long as the user interface does not block, even if a request did not get cancelled at the DB level you should always be able to do things like...

    1. open an unshared connection (Ctrl + Shift + N) of the worksheet occupied this connection.

    2. create another name of the connection with the same details as the locked connection and use it.

    3. open Tools > Sessions of the monitor for a user with enough power and kill the hanging session using the menu popup kill .

    I hope this helps.

  • Oracle Sql Developer

    Dear all,

    I use oracle 10G r2 on windows.

I downloaded developer sql to convert the ms sql server Oracle 10 g database.

but the thing is that when I'm trying to give third driver database driver sql developer i.e. (jtds) party not to update the same.

someone can tell me step by step driver update not online but the update offline for sql developer.

    I know, it's
    1) go to tools and click on the "preference".
    (2) go to help
    (3) control upgrade.

but it does not please answer me if anyone know step by step to update the driver.

    thnkss...

    Hello

    (1) jtds - 1.2 - dist.zip download here
    http://sourceforge.NET/projects/jTDS/files/jTDS/1.2/
Note, Important that you use this version.

    (2) unzip it, we really want the jtds - 1.2.jar inside.

    (3) open SQL Developer. Tools > Preferences > Database > third party JDBC drivers

    Add entry > choose jtds - 1.2.jar
    Click OK

Now you should be able to create a connection to SQL Server and start the migration.

  • Bug of NLS in SQL Developer 4.1 on mac

    Hi all

I downloaded sqldeveloper 4.1.1.19.59 for mac os x from the Web site. When you try to connect to an Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - 64 bit Production database I get an error ORA-12705, the same error as shown in this issue: update SQL Developer 4.0.1 cannot connect (error ORA-12705) . I tried the NLS settings in my sqldeveloper than those of my database, but nothing happened.

Currently, the problem was solved by using an older version of sqldeveloper. Specifically, 4.0.2 version.

    Signs of what's going on?

    Kind regards.

    Julian

Although not specific to OS X, another debate is better: Developer SQL 4.1.1.19.59: error opening Database 9i or package procedure

    So, to summarize...

1 use a version of SQL Developer (4.0.3 or lower) which comes with a 11.2.0.3 (or less) JDBC. That should help to interact with Oracle 9i.

    2. install a 11.2.0.3 Oracle instant client and configure SQL Developer 4.1.1 to use rather than the 12.1 driver

See Tools > Preferences > Database > advanced > use Oracle Client... Configure...

  • Where can I set the preference for the "Drop Force' in SQL Developer?

    Hello

When removing a SQL Developer 4.1 type, I get the following message:

ORA-02303: cannot drop or replace a type load type or table. SQLDev advises the preference setting "Drop Type Force"

I know how to force the type with a SQL command drop - so this isn't a problem.

My question is "where can I configure the preference 'Drop Type Force'?"

Thank you very much for the help with this.

    Niall.

IN 4.1.1.19.59 it is on the page of compiler for PL/SQL tools-> preferences-> database

SQL Developer (Version 4.0.0.13 - main build 13.80) and RDBMS 11 GR 2

I used the version (s) EA of SQLDEV4 for the past few months.  Yesterday, I downloaded and installed the new version of SQLDEV 4 production.  Unfortunately, when the installer asked if I would like to "see" my preferences from an earlier version of SQLDEV new SQLDEV4, I chose the wrong version of EA.

Is there a way to reset the preferences in new SQLDEV4 to get preferences from a previous version of (EA) or am I stuck trying to remember all the preferences, I put the last few months.  I am tired of the reinstall, but preference 'Report' question never asked again.

    Thanks in advance.

Close SQL Developer. Go to your application under user settings directory - this being windows mobile - blow the directory for this install v4.

Re-run the EXE file, it prompts you to new to the thread.

  • SQL Developer Cart deployment wasting time on Date columns

I tried to use the basket of SQL Developer functionality to migrate Oracle Cloud of AWS and I found that the time of all the date attributes element is not migrated. I checked the content of the deployment file and found that both the SQL * Loader control and the data file (ldr) ignore time information in an attribute table date.

Anyone encountered this problem and knows how to get SQL Developer to pick up time when he pulls date attribute values?

    Hello

There is no particular preference control the date format in the database. Public services | Basket, so the behavior has to be automatic or according to the definition of NLS.

You might check if tools | Preferences | Database | NLS | Date format already contains an element of time format. If the cart unfurl dates does not work even with the right NLS format, then this it can be tapped. Perhaps an improvement has been made for the next version. Please let us know. I ping the developer about this.

  • SQL Developer 3.1 Bug: Tabs get closed!

    Hello!

There is a bug in SQL Developer 3.1 which closes previously opened editors to object when the number of open editors increases over a certain amount.

    for example:
Open the PL/SQL package editors by clicking on it.
After a number of open package, the first fork packets begin to disappear.
When packets of theses have been published, you are asked if you want to save, ignore, or cancel the operation.

    Best regards
    Matthias Schulz

    Hi Matt,

This isn't a bug. The behavior is controlled through preferences:

1 PL/SQL Editor: tools | Preferences | Code editor | Auto code Pin (checkbox) + Max Open (input field) PL/SQL publishers.
2 ObjectViewer: Tools | Preferences | Database | ObjectViewer | Automatically freezing object viewer Windows (check box).
3 worksheet: tools | Preferences | Database | Worksheet | Close all the worksheets on disconnect (checkbox). Otherwise these are basically open.

So we have a question of minor terminology in what concerns the "Pin" versus "Freeze". Furthermore, another problem with narrowing width tab as tab number increases:
Please change the way are managed the tabs in the window

  • SQL Developer running slow, perhaps caused by Java Virtual Machine

    Hi all

Currently, I am working with SQL Developer 1.5.1 connection to an Oracle 10.2.0.2 database and it takes about 10 minutes for Developer SQL load. I believe that the problem may be due to the Java Development Kit. I've upgraded to the latest version of last week.

I also use a photo of the Web Site, which is not related to my work as Oracle, but for it's photo uploader also uses Java, and which is slow, that's why I think that the problem is based on Java. I would say that the problem occurred in the last two months but has gotten much worse in recent weeks. Developer SQL is slow at times, especially when I used another application and it's just in the background.

    Kind regards

    Tim

    Two things here at first:

    * JDK:
If you do not remove one sqldev used before, he always uses this one. You can change yourself in \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:

    SetJavaHome C:\Archivos programa\Java\jdk1.6.0_10

Be sue to point to a JDK, however, not a JRE that you mentioned above. Update 1.6.x generally better performance than 1.5.x update.

    * GeoRaptor:
You installed this extension and it's errors. If you don't need or it doesn't work anymore, better to disable it in preferences - Extensions.

The NullPointerException in SearchBarAddin is already for several versions, but dev seems not very motivated to solve. Just ignore it.
If you still see exceptions after checking the JDK and GeoRaptor, or sqldev is still useless, do come back and give some details about the memory usage.

    Hope that helps,
    K.

  • The value of the indentation / tab size in Oracle SQL Developer

I've been searching for an hour. Cannot understand this.

Where, on the UI of the application or in the file 'product - preferences.xml', can I change the (tab) indentation size developer SQL 3? My organization uses PowerBuilder, and when I copy + paste our SQL PB (which uses the main tabs) in Oracle SQL Developer, it looks like crap. It would really help if I could change the code editor for a tab size equivalent to three spaces.

And no, we cannot use spaces. :-)

    Thank you!

(maybe SQL Developer 2 might have a field of size tab in 'Préférences')

1.5.x, it is under Preferences - database - SQL Formatter - alignment and Indentation .
However, at least in the 1.5.3 current, a bug ignores the preferences of the tab completely, so you are stuck with 2 spaces. If you can't wait until it gets fixed (with luck in the upcoming 1.5.4 or maybe 2.0), revert to a previous version.

    Kind regards
    K.

  • Time display to date in SQL Developer columns

When I click on a picture to view it in SQL Developer (when it appears in a tab on the right side), if a column is the date format, it displays the date only and it still lacks the time.

Is it possible to set it so that the time will also be displayed?

I currently write SELECT statements to get around that and display the time, using TO_CHAR (timestamp, ' MON DD YYYY hh) to get the date display, which is annoying because I have a lot of tables I'm flicking between.

In the Tools menu / Preferences / Database / NLS settings, you will be able to choose all the NLS settings you want, including date format

  • Oracle SQL Developer datetime format

    Hello

I use Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1. When I query from a table with a column of type DATE, the result for this column shows data only go back but not time, as below.

    ID TIME_STAMP
    .....        ....................
    100 29 AUGUST 08

How can I get display date and time as 08:46:22.0 29 August 08

    Thank you

    (1) Note that there is a separate SQL Developer forum where you probably want to run this kind of issue in the future

    (2) assuming you are using 1.5, tools | Preferences | Database | NLS parameters has an option to Format for a Date. You want to change this to any mask format you prefer.
