Hello Hans,.
Thanks for your reply. I'm a newbie to linux and the oracle environment. I try my best to answer your questions, pls I would like to know if it's OK.

Distro? (RedHat EL 5.2? Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.7? Debian? ... surely you know than the one you downloaded...)

>

I'm using oracle 11g.

-What distribution and version of Linux for the client machine (SQL Developer) +.
same distribution as above, but I have installed with that connected root.

root? (shudder)

I understand that you're a novice. Please get into the habit to avoid root, unless your really don't need.

Oracle and the root mix well.

And my oracle database is only available for the 'Oracle' user. Currently, if I try to start with the user oracle sqldeveloper it throws exception. but its ok with root.

Probably the permissions and other things. See note above. Perhaps a lack of "root.sh" after installation.

>

or indicate explicitly that the PREA process two configus on the same machine_
They are on the same machine, but users as I mentioned is the difference. Oracle 11g is installed with the user 'oracle '. SQL developer is installed with the user "root".

is SELinux and firewalls configured properly on both machines.
I have little knowledge of the firewall. but when I installed linux I had selected the option no firewall. and I am able to issue beginning listener command and I am out of the suite:-
Oracle@localhost ~ lsnrctl start $

This is why you cannot access it.

After the database has been installled (using the Oracle username, no root), the sequence of booting (from the Oracle user) must be

-set the environment

-start the receiver

    Hi all

I am a beginner and I want to learn Oracle add up to my learning
I installed SQL Developer on Linux Mint 12 (lisa).
The installation went well, but when I try to create a new database connection in SQL developer, I get the following error:

Could someone please suggest where exactly, I'm missing?

Have you installed the oracle database software locally? Have you created a database called "oracle?

Developer SQL does not include a data base. For learning purposes, I recommend that you download Oracle Express Edition.

  • Unable to connect to host: SQL Developer in Virtualbox:linux:oracle

    Hi all

Hope this is the right place to ask this question - since his post installation problem.

I'm very happy because I just installed yesterday manually Oracle Linux 6.5 and Oracle 11 GR 2 on a Virtualbox VM. Ive put the point for a long time but either in the oracle of banks already installed Linux in DBA or home installation of Oracle on windows. But I decided to try something I've been curious for a long time which was to install oracle on linux running in a virtual machine, then usinfg the VM development tools host * developer sql etc...). IM glad that in only 2 days, I was able to make all the measurements required in virtualbox additions for sharedfolders, linux with x, prerequisites for instalation oracle, RPM and Richmond stuff, tune kernel parameters and installation when smoothly managed yesterday

Today, after the typical small things missing after starting the VM as:

    -lack of vars env; Oracle ADF for path;

-sqlplus / as sysdba returned instance inactive, so I started OK with SQL > startup

-also unlocked HR account and under linux has been able to connect to sqlplus h/h

Now I'm trying to achieve the 2 following things after you start the virtual machine linux/oracle again today:

    1. connect to vm host windows 7 oracle sql developer for my db oracle Linux.

2 business manager access to the browser in my host of windows 7. Yesterday, just after the installation of oracle finishing I could, just need to open port firewall linux 1158 and https://192.168.1.71:1158 / em Open ok. But today, after that it seems some process to start vm does not work... cause I can't get em either inside the virtual machine, nor my host locally.

    / bin/bash

This indicates a problem firewall and routing. You said earlier you could ping the server, but now we see tnsping fails. Two different protocols of usage, so that both the successful ping turns out a valid physical path, it guarantees not that all traffic will pass. What happens with

  • SQL Developer debugger does not start

I found a strange behaviour, while debugging PL/SQL stored procedures using SQL Developer version 4.1.0.19 on Ubunto 12.04 LTS. The debugger works fine for all the bases of my company, except one. When I start a debugging session in this database, the debbuger let go forever and never debug dialog box open. When I use another IDE, for example, PL/SQL Developer of AllroundAutomations on Windows 7, the debugger works very well. I used the same user database with all necessary Preobrajensky. First I thought it was a bad configuration of the database, but as I could start with another IDE debugging sessions, I think that this is not the case. So, I would like to know if someone could help me understand what is happening.

Hello, dbaers colleagues, trying to export using the developer 4.0.3.16 to a 11.2.0.3.12 sql database running on RHEL 5 as user SYSTEM and receiving the screen shown below will appear.  The log file and the dmp file are created so I know that's not a problem of permission to write.  Someone at - he experienced this?

    Thanks in advance!

    6

My process created a unique name with a timestamp in the name so no other process might have used.  And I am aware that the message does not say it is a write permissions problem, just checking the obvious things first before everyone asking for thoughts.

When it comes to provide more details, I don't really know how much more would be appropriate because I assumed that experienced users would know that there was a wizard provided by the SQL Developer with dialog boxes... I guess I could have aired it a spreadsheet?  I'm not sure.  I will do my best to provide minute details in the future.  And your question, I realize that I forgot to say that I have tried to write to a NFS mount point.

To this end, the problem is resolved.  NFSLock didn't work on this box.  My Linux SA started and my export was properly executed.

    Sorry for any ambiguity.

But if I run sql-developer as the user root, then it start normally, so I suspect it's insufficient privilege when I start with normal first time user. I changed the owner of sqldeveloper & Java to myself, but it didn't work (which was owned by the root previously).

I do not know how to analyze the dump or the error log file created during the accident, but I don't want to start it as root user. Thus, anyone who can give a solution would be appreciated.

There are a few related threads when SQLDev running as root "solved" the problem on Ubuntu... looks like the final solution came down to this

    unset GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID

Try this, or search the forums for the other 2-3 threads around this topic.

  • create a new user with password expire - problem SQL Developer

    Hi people,

I use RDBMS 11.2.x on Solaris and Linux, and in the face of a problem that I hope someone can help me with.

Our policy is to create a new account with a temporary password and force them to reset the password at the first login.

    Therefore, I use: "create user < username > identified by < user > password expire...» »

The problem is that many users use Oracle SQL Developer and do not have access to SQL * more.

When I user logs in the database for the first time in SQL Developer, he just tells them that the account is locked.

It does not say the password is expired, and it does not give them a way to change this (that I can find it).

I'm not familiar with SQL Developer and hoped for someone who has had a similar problem can offer some suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Jim

  • How to get an output of server in SQL Developer

I learn to SQL Deverloper and use it in an academic setting and Oracle at Oracle test cases.

I know my way around SQL some but I am learning just PL/SQL.  I want to run an anonymous block and get an output for elements 'dbms_output.put_line '.

At school, I enter my block in the worksheet "SQL" and will receive the "anonymous block finished" in the screen "output of the Script.  Then, there is a 3 screen, whose name I don't remember, but I think it's the equivalent of 'out of server.  When I open it, I have to tell him what database I use.  So I see the dbms output lines in this section 3.

The problem is when I'm with SQL Developer to work, I see only 2 sections: "SQL worksheet" and "output of the Script.

I looked, but couldn't find an option or a button or a window that is called something like 'exit from server' or 'view output server.'

Can a more experienced user please help me?

    I use:

    SQL Developer Version 3.1.07

    Build a HAND - 07.42

    Linux x 86-64

    (Oracle internal):

    Instance: http://celalnx38.us.oracle.com:10507 /

    tnsnames: 10500)

ROFL!  So I went back and looked at it again, just to be sure... and I found the DBMS OUTPUT on the VIEW menu.  LARGE as LIFE, but I've never SEEN it it is before...
