SQL Developer to crash at startup.

I made several attempts using different versions of SQL Developer and different versions of Java on the machine with Microsoft Windows 8.1 Build Enterprise (x 64) 9600.

sqldeveloper - 4.0.1.14.48 - no - jre.zip 235,385,812

sqldeveloper - 4.1.2.20.64 - no - jre.zip 329,066,864

sqldeveloper - 4.1.2.20.64 - x 64.zip 399,957,535

sqldeveloper64 - 3.0.04.34 - no - jre.zip 154,645,086

sqldeveloper64 - 3.2.20.09.87 - no - jre.zip 182,052,469

sqldeveloper - 4.1.3.20.78 - no - jre.zip 331,401,110

Example of process:

(1) files extracted to sqldeveloper - 4.1.2.20.64 - no - jre.zip

(2) run sqldeveloper

(3) window appears asking you to JDK home - click 'Browse '.

(4) access to the Java/jdk1.8.0_65 - click on "select a folder.

(5) confirm the path with "OK".

(6) beginning of the program - the start screen flashes on the screen, but for a short period of time (tenths of a second).

(7) nothing else is happening.

(8) for execution sqldeveloper again not questions about the JDK. All splash screen (once again just flash).

(9) in the Manager of tasks (details) I see for about a half second the process 'sqldeveloper64W.exe '.

I've tried combinations of different JDK and version of the SQL Developer - some versions display warning on the supported Java versions.

The latest version I managed to run (ignoring warning) 3.2.20.09 has been building hand - 09.87 using java jdk1.8.0_65.

No luck with all versions 4 +.

I also tried to collect debugging information as described in http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/archive/2012/06/how-to-collect-debug-info-for-oracle-sql-developer/

First attempt was unsuccessful - screen displayed for the second half and then again in line with command prompt is displayed in the CMD window.

I tried several times and finally was fast enough to press ctr + pause/break in this short time.

I tried it with versions 4.1.2.20.64 and 4.1.3.20.78. The latest is here:

Concerning

Location of these files can cause problems? It does not prevent SQL Developer 3.2 work.

Apparently. Director of the company may shed some light on why this is true. In practice, you can try to force the SQL Developer user settings in a local folder that is writable, discutΘ in: problem starting sql developer 4.1.1.19.59

For convenience, here's an excerpt.  Use your 4.1.3.20.78x64 installation.  Choose a path to a local folder, even one on a flash drive.  Should work.

Add something like this line to the file sqldeveloper.conf to your installation:

AddVMOption - Dide.user.dir =

    Hi, I start sql-developer on my Ubuntu 13.04 and it crashed with errors:

    I tried "ulimit unlimited-c" before starting to enable writing core dump.

    But if I run sql-developer as the user root, then it start normally, so I suspect it's insufficient privilege when I start with normal first time user. I changed the owner of sqldeveloper & Java to myself, but it didn't work (which was owned by the root previously).

    I do not know how to analyze the dump or the error log file created during the accident, but I don't want to start it as root user. Thus, anyone who can give a solution would be appreciated.

    There are a few related threads when SQLDev running as root "solved" the problem on Ubuntu... looks like the final solution came down to this

    Try this, or search the forums for the other 2-3 threads around this topic.

  • How to prevent multiple redundant worksheets to open at startup SQL Developer (V4.0.0.13)?

    Hello

    Everytime I open SQL Developer (4.0.0.13) in addition to any worksheets that have been opened on the previous closure of the product, several other worksheets are also open. When I click on these heads of tab of spreadsheets they close automatically and does not display any content. The range of worksheets, tabs package to tabs on trigger for the initial plug-in and even sql scripts that are stored on the file server.

    Is there a config/settings/history file I can edit/delete to avoid this problem? I searched my C drive for specific text in unwanted these worksheets records, but with no joy.

    My apologies if this has been addressed already. I take a look through the forums and have also searched the Internet for a solution, but nothing helps.

    Thank you very much

    It's a bug that has been fixed. Get the version 4.0.3

  • 4.0.2.15.21 - x 64 SQL Developer does not start.  Only ends about 20% at startup.

    Hello

    I've seen a number of discussions on this issue but did not answer that worked for me.

    I use the latest version of SQL Developer 4.0.2.15.21 - x 64 on Win7 x 64.

    It is unziped to c:\oracle\sqldeveloper. (I don't have a d: drive install on).

    It fails to start, is 20% then stops.

    I still have an old 4.0.0 version which works, but would like to make use of the latter.

    All the answers about why it's a failure and how to fix it?

    Thank you!

    Owen.

    Nuke SQL Developer Directory for this version in your directory of Application data for the user of your operating system - should be under roaming profiles and start the SQL Developer.

    Apparently, you have installed OrindaBuild extension. Do you use it?
    If you don't know what I'm talking about, it is a 3rd party software the trial from the Orinda software you probably pushed by the center of update.
    Better disable (uncheck) in Preferences - Extensions.

  • Cannot modify most user Source in SQL Developer

    Hello

    I created an Oracle 12.1.0.2 database container called DEVELOP and responsible for 11 GR 2 one hundred packages and 600 tables with hundreds of pages of APEX 5.0.

    I did it using IMPDP and applications run well in the 5.0.2 APEX I just tested all applications.

    Each version of SQL Developer (4.1.2 4.1.3 and the version that comes with 12 c for download) does not allow me to edit any package, procedure, function, or type.

    All I see is "CREATE or REPLACE.

    I can see all the tables and data.

    I saw some problems that appear which suggested using 12.1.0.2 if that happen which I use.

    I create a window using the SYSDBA account for the container, then:

    Select * from DBA_OBJECTS where owner = 'LSDB' and object_type = 'PACKAGE '.

    I see all of my packages.

    I create a window in the account for these objects, called LSDB can:

    When I run select * from USER_OBJECTS where type_objet = 'PACKAGE '. I see all my packages, for example.

    When I run select NAME DISTINCT from USER_SOURCE; I don't see any source at all code, even if I can right-click on each package of SQL Developer and download the entire package in a window and modify the set.

    The source code is somewhere else, simply not visible to the process tree viewer that seems.

    I don't see many discussions on this issue for 12 c 12.1.0.2.

    Because it is a test of 12 c, I gave all the roles and privileges for the LSDB account.

    I am new to 12 c and Developer SQL 4.1.x. and I'm not a magician to the inner workings of the Oracle or SQL Developer, this behavior seems very strange to me.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bernie

    Jeff,

    Here is the right solution to this problem.

    This problem was caused by a failure to completely put the PDB container $ SEEDS at 32K extended varchar2 objects.

    The pluggable DEVELOP database has been upgraded to 32K VARCHAR2 objects correctly, but APB$ SEEDS was not.

    This resulted in an Oracle ORA-14696 error when you create a new database plug-in, DEVELOP2.

    Once the PDB database $ SEED container has been properly upgraded to 32K VARCHAR2 objects using the following code, Developer SQL displays all the source properly, and the new database plug-in DEVELOP2 could also be created.

    You can close this topic and thanks for your help.

  • Oracle Sql Developer is very slow

    Hello

    I ' have a big problem with SQL developer. We have a lot of databases on the connections.xml (about 1600 databases Oracle) file. When we start SQL developer, it took about 10 minutes to open. Can what solutions we use to open this application more quickly?

    We have already tried to add this line to the sqldeveloper.conf file:

    AddVMOption - Sqldev.tnsping = false

    But we see no change.

    We must have a solution to fix this problem because 10 minutes is much much time to work properly.

    What makes it truly Developer SQL in start up to put so much time?

    Best regards.

    A bug has been noted, as stated in the post 15 of this discussion. That's the good news, because there was no prior bug in the system for that matter.

    There is a performance problem, of course, since the additional startup due to connections time more seems to increase exponentially, rather than (at most) linearly as could be expected.  In other words, on my system...

    1. 23 connections takes no extra time measurable.

    2. 575 connections takes 13 seconds.

    3. 1150 connections takes 53 seconds.

    4. you claim that 1600 connections on your system takes about 10 minutes.

    The bug will be reviewed by the developer and probably a better algorithm can be used, or the treatment in question may be delayed or run lazily so it won't slow down the startup.  I don't know when this will happen, however.  If you need urgently, you can follow up with Oracle Support to get a bug associated client id, track progress and present evidence for why it should have priority.

    Kind regards

  • problem starting sql developer 4.1.1.19.59

    Hello

    I installed SQL developer 4.1.1.19.59, but when I start it up it crashes on the login window for the proxy server that is not responding. I can't even shut it down, and the only way is to kill the process with the Task Manager.

    An administrator can run the program, but I'm not an administrator on my PC.

    I'm runnning Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

    Can someone tell me what permissions are needed to facilitate this run as a normal user?

    P.S. I don't have this problem with SQL Developer 4.0.3.16.84

    Thanks, Wouter

    HI Wouter,

    In fact, my advice was r ide.user.diuse to replace the default user settings folder.  Under normal circumstances the default value of %APPDATA%\SQL developer and the problem is usually an administrative policy that prevents updates records and files in %AppData%.

    My expectation was so you would set ide.user.dir to something other than a folder under % APPDATA %., maybe C:\Temp\OSD, to see if it works.

    Kind regards

  • SQL * more the 'timing' in SQL Developer command

    I installed SQL Developer version 4.1.1.19. In the sql worksheet, how can I use SQL * more order 'timing' in a script to see a time elapsed SQL? The "Timing" on 'set' did not return any info after running SQL, and 'calendar beginning mon_timer' back 'command Timing is obsolete. Help, please.

    Thank you

    • As you can see, there is no calendar information in the script output log.
    • Then I tried on the discussion forum, found it can be enabled in "tool > preference > Database > startup script" and set as startup script:

    Set serveroutput on

    set timing on

    • However, 2 questions are:
    1. the calendar that he returned is NOT the elapsed time of my stored procedure to run. He simply choose the 2 time points its time, before and not after MS point run. Set timing on is therefore not a solution for me.
    2. He did not follow the instructions in the startup script. After that I put the calendar in the startup script, stop & restart SQL Developer, same laptop charging, timing still on. The only way to turn off now is to configure it to NOT use

    any startup script.

    • Then I developed my own coding as a solution:

    3. control of the COIL

    Hi Torsten,

    Thanks for reporting the problem. I logged a bug.

    You can view together as "list of system types" directory to "preference > Data Modeler"-probably no longer exists. I guess that the setting for this directory is empty when you start SQL Dev as a different user.

  • Is there a real BENEFIT in SQL * Developer Automated Unit Testing?

    I'm trying to understand the unit test in SQL * Developer. Asked me to evaluate it as a method of test automation on an integration solution that we develop.

    (1) my 'A' schema has this table:

    SQL > DESC EMP

    Name                                      Null?    Type

    ----------------------------------------- -------- --------------------

    EMPID NOT NULL NUMBER

    EMPNAME VARCHAR2 (30)

    SALARY NUMBER (7.2)

    COMM_PCT NUMBER (2.2)

    Table (2). has these values:

    SQL > SELECT * from emps;

    EMPID EMPNAME SALARY COMM_PCT

    ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------

    1 ROHAN 10000.05

    2 JOHN 20000

    3 PETER.06

    4 SMITH

    (3.) I create this procedure in drive A:

    create or replace

    PROCEDURE award_bonus (NUMBER, sales_amt NUMBER p_empid)

    AS

    REAL Commission;

    comm_missing EXCEPTION;

    BEGIN

    SELECT comm_pct IN the commission OF EMP

    WHERE empid = p_empid;

    IF the commission IS NULL THEN

    RAISE comm_missing;

    ON THE OTHER

    PGE UPDATED

    SET salary = salary + sales_amt * commission

    WHERE empid = p_empid;

    END IF;

    END award_bonus;

    (4) now, I want to create a unit test in SQL Developer to test this procedure.

    (5) I created a user "unit_test_repos" according to the instructions in the tutorial.

    (6) ' SELECT OPERATION': I specifies the procedure of award_bonus.

    (7) ' SPECIFY the name of test': give a name and select "create with a single model.

    (8.) 'SPECIFY the STARTUP': Add a ' copy Table or the line "the startup process.

    -I give "EMP" as the source table.

    -And then I get this for the 'generated query.

    SELECT ROWID AS SRC$ ROWID, s.* FROM EMP s

    -Target table has "TMP$ AWARD_BONUS.

    (Q1) WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CREATING ANOTHER TABLE?

    (Q2) WHEN THE TEST IS DONE, ARE ROWS OF PGE copied into this table?

    (Q3) Why is this? Why can't the test simply read 'EMP '?

    (9) "PARAMETERS SPECIFY": I give "Input".

    -1 for P_EMPID

    -10000 for SALES_AMT

    -In "Expected result", I say "success."

    (Q4) So I should know in my mind the results of the proc, foregoing given entries?

    (10) ' SPECIFY VALIDATION': I add validation "poll rows of queries.

    -I paste the following query: SELECT count (*) FROM EMP WHERE empid = 1 AND salary = 10500

    -that is, I know that for an amount of 10000 sales, employee 1 will get a Commission of 10000*.05 = 500. For example, 10000 (its sal) + 500 = 10500.

    (Q5) The thought that the above is correct?

    (11) "TEARDOOWN SPECIFY": give nothing.

    (12) my unit test is created.

    (13.) I run now by clicking on the button of the beetle, to the left of the green arrow. Unit test is run.

    (14) now in my table a.emps, 1 salary has increased to 10 500, and the diag test case, I get the "execution results: SUCCEED.

    (15) now, I run the unit test again.

    (16.) salary 'EMP' table emp 1 is passed to 11000 (which is correct) and the so-called execution results "SUCCESS".

    (Q6)  My question is: the query I gave for validation, SELECT count (*) FROM EMP WHERE empid = 1 AND = 10500 salary, now gives 0. so, this means that no row is returned for this condition and so the test must FAIL. But how is SQL * Developer said that the test was SUCCESSFUL. How does this system of validation?

    (17.) I went through the tutorial, but I do not understand these concepts >

    (Q7) What is the purpose of disassembly? I undersand the option 'drop table' "disassembly", where you drop the temporary table, but I do not understand the others, 'Table or line restore' and 'code pl/sql user '?

    (Q8) WHAT IS the advantage of making the test like this? Can I use an Excel spreadsheet and make dozens of unit tests faster than this method?  It is easy to understand too. This method is complicated.

    Your answers and your advice would be greatly appreciated.

    The temporary table to hold the original values for EMP. After the test runs, you must configure the disassembly to reset the return values of the temporary for the next time table that the test works again, he has values of expected start.

  • Unable to connect to host: SQL Developer in Virtualbox:linux:oracle

    Hi all

    Hope this is the right place to ask this question - since his post installation problem.

    I'm very happy because I just installed yesterday manually Oracle Linux 6.5 and Oracle 11 GR 2 on a Virtualbox VM. Ive put the point for a long time but either in the oracle of banks already installed Linux in DBA or home installation of Oracle on windows. But I decided to try something I've been curious for a long time which was to install oracle on linux running in a virtual machine, then usinfg the VM development tools host * developer sql etc...). IM glad that in only 2 days, I was able to make all the measurements required in virtualbox additions for sharedfolders, linux with x, prerequisites for instalation oracle, RPM and Richmond stuff, tune kernel parameters and installation when smoothly managed yesterday

    Today, after the typical small things missing after starting the VM as:

    -lack of vars env; Oracle ADF for path;

    -sqlplus / as sysdba returned instance inactive, so I started OK with SQL > startup

    -also unlocked HR account and under linux has been able to connect to sqlplus h/h

    Now I'm trying to achieve the 2 following things after you start the virtual machine linux/oracle again today:

    1. connect to vm host windows 7 oracle sql developer for my db oracle Linux.

    2 business manager access to the browser in my host of windows 7. Yesterday, just after the installation of oracle finishing I could, just need to open port firewall linux 1158 and https://192.168.1.71:1158 / em Open ok. But today, after that it seems some process to start vm does not work... cause I can't get em either inside the virtual machine, nor my host locally.

    Some info of linux from my installation:

    $ echo $SHELL

    / bin/bash

    $ set | grep ORACLE

    Your listener is the list on "localhost" (127.0.0.1 ip address) that the universal loopback address.  No request to this address never let the customer request.  Your virtual computer must have a fixed IP address, and the listener must be listening on this fixed IP address
