SSD 4 k mount Raid Question

In recent months the couple here, I built a fairly large ediitng platform k 4. now my only neck of the bottle is what I believe to be my camera 2. Is raid 0 but the speed is even slower, so I only for the 4 k files r3d that I am editing in first pro. I was chatting on upgrade to 2 1 TB samsung 850 pro ssd in raid 0 as the source media players. I see a significant increase on my flow with these discs for the media source?  The rest of the system is a x 5960 i7, titan x, 256 GB ssd for cache files, a 256 GB m2 for start-up and a 99 deluxe 3.1 x mobo.

This test seems very strange, as if they had a bad intel 750 or it is in a location PCIe clocked at 1 x. I wouldn't trust these results, sound out of the character. I've seen other landmarks, most of anandtech, which show that the drive intel is preferable to writing, while the samsungs are better at reading.

This shows the intel 750 and the cards just to get the samsung 850 pro as well. in some of the benchmarks, you might imagine a raid of samsung 850 pro becomes a bit near the 750 in reading/writing, but raid will not make the difference in latency.

  • New SSDS do not mount on MBP 2012 Recovery Mode

I replace the HD on a 2012 model 9.2 MBP with an OWC 6 G SSD. I ran a backup Time Machine on the HD 500 G original and then swapped the drive. I can't get the new SSD to appear in Recovery Mode to format it and install OS X I have tried with the original disc connected in an external box, even with the Time Machine backup drive and I tried with no externally attached at all. (Continued on the upgrade command instructions on the site of OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/articles/how-to-transfer-your-data-from-your-old-drive - to-a-new-reader) Then, I removed the SSD of MBP and attached to my Mac Mini in an external enclosure. It mounted fine and I was able to format. So I ruled out a faulty SSD. Then I restarted the MBP with original HD installed and the SSD connected via external enclosure. Run utility disc and formatted the SSD drive. Close all again and replace the SSD in the MBP. Started in Recovery Mode to install OS X and the drive does not appear.

Currently of ideas. I rechecked all the components and all should be fully compatible.

    Ideas?

Started in Recovery Mode to install OS X and the drive does not appear.

You mean the restoration of the Internet (Command + Option + R)? Recovery mode is command + R, and since you do not have an operating system on your new SSD HD Recovery wouldn't be here.

  • W700 RAID question

My W700 is almost 4 years and service policy was released last December.

Yesterday, the Console matrix Intel has indicated one of the disks RAID 1 (drive 0) had failed and is in mode "gradient".

I got a new spare drive which I installed it and the table was being rebuilt.

Somewhere after 60% (possibly after complete reconstruction), the array returned in mode "Gradient" with drive 0 showing again failed. The same drive I just replace it with a new one (rebuilt/unused).

I'm probably looking to two HD failures or possible failure in the HD on the motherboard, BIOS RAID support?

I won't buy another HD if it's not necessary?

The W700 supports any flavor of SSD (no raid configuration)?

I might consider a RAID SSD not because otherwise, the W700 has been flawless.

    Opportunities and guidance appreciated.

    J

I found, I got another piece of spare and it seems to work very well. I guess that the first replacement was also defective. What are the chances of that? I also ran PC diags (bootable) DR BACK on the two disks and they extracted good.

  • SSD and own Win764 ultimate questions

I recently installed an OCZ Vertex 120 GB SSD II in my DV7 laptop 4280US. I removed the disk that came with the system and replaced it with the SSD drive. I used the 7 DVD factory restore (I did with I first got the laptop) to reinstall windows 7 Edition home premium and all the HP software and divers. Restore completed with a problem. When I tried to reboot the system after the restoration of the HP bios did not recognize a valid boot partition. I tried the restore with the minimum drivers and software option and got the same result.

I decided to just do a clean install and got a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and it installed fine and I was able to boot from the SSD without problem.

    My question:

I downloaded all the drivers who were listed in the download section of the driver for the 4280us. It seems that there is always a problem with the memory. Windows indicates that there are 6 GB of memory installed, but it says that only 2.43 GB is usable. Why is this? Am I missing a driver? When I run that windows experience index he reports that my computer is slow memory (rating 5.5) and I don't think that this was the case before. I think remember that before the upgrade every part of the index was more than 6 except for the hard drive.

Also I can't find an istaller for any of the software I had before. I can not the volume buttons, webcam, fingerprint reader and who knows what else to work. I would be grateful if you could provide a guide for cleaning of installation with a step by step guide on what dirvers to install and in what order. I'd also appreciate a link to download ALL the software factory for my 4280US.

    Thank you

MY BAD! I have installed Win7 - 64 bit, I installed Win 7-32 bit. Of course, it has not recognized any as usable memory beyond 4 GB.

BTW: I was able to copy my original score from the old drive to the DSS directly and was able to start with success.

First of all, I used a free software called Partition Wizard Home edition (http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html?tag=mncol;1) my HD came from the factory with 4 partitions on this subject. #1 was the boot partition / reserved for the system. #2 has been the real reader of c# 3 was a recovery of 30 GB disk and #4 burner HP tools. I copied!, 2 and 4 and not 3. I made sure that they all copied as a primary partition not logic. I put the first partition as active. I rebooted and it worked perfectly, except my system keeps trying to do a check disk on the drive. I'll work on this one here.

Thanks for you help. Sorry for the bad data and the error on the version of Win7.

  • Another RAID Question :)

Until recently, we bought our licenses for ESXi 5 and before I have order my raid controller I would check with the community on certain things.

Based on research I did on the forums and on the compatibility list, it's a pretty decent controller:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16816118170

What we seek to do is to take the above 8 port controller and set up 4 disks in RAID 10. Then down the line, connect a 4 discs additional for the controller even in another configuration of raid 10 or two matrices RAID 1.

So my question is this: is it possible to install ESXi 5.5 on the first RAID 10 configuration, then later, to create additional tables on the same controller and then assign them to the existing installation of ESXi?

    Thanks in advance for answers!

Yes, you can add new bays starting from the same controller to your ESXi installation at a later date. This will be done through host Configuration > storage. Once the berries are configured, they will appear in the list of available LUNS and can be connected to ESXi like additional data stores.

I don't have experience with this particular model of LSI first hand, but it is listed on the HCL 5.x ESXi, so you should not encounter compatibility problems.

  • RAID question...

I have two in my system RAID arrays... lies in 3 x 1 TB RAID-5 (2 TB total) which is implemented using the controller onboard Marvell chip and Intel RAID software. The second is a 4 x 2 TB drive RAID-5 (total of 6 TB) inside a box external and put in place with a G Highpoint RAID card - Tech material on a PCI-e bus.

I plan to do a thorough cleaning and a reinstallation of the operating system and programs, and my question is, can I safely do without risk of loss of data on RAID arrays? I'm pretty confident the hardware RAID will be correct, but as software RAID is configured using a software program that is installed on the operating system, I am afraid that wiping the OS (and, therefore, control software) and do a relocation will result in this RAID being ruined... thoughts?

Since the Marvell raid is configured in the BIOS and not in the window, unless you tried to make it REALLY slow using the Windows software, you should be OK, but if you tried to make it even slower than it should be and you used the Windows software, you will lose all your material. Is not really important, because you'll have a good backup in place strategy, I hope.

The G-Tech raid will survive a new installation, but will still suffer from the eSATA connection. I think it would be a good time to add a dedicated raid controller to improve your performance.

  • Replace the HARD drive with SSD on a T530 - noob question

    Hi all

I have a T530 with conventional hard drive. I want to replace it with an SSD (probably Samsung 840 Pro). When I look at the replacement Web site instructions, they refer to the use of spacers during the installation of an SSD (as opposed to rubber rails that frame apparently my current HARD drive).

Do I need these spacers in order to install an SSD? If so, should I buy Lenovo?

    Thank you very much

    Jason

If it's the same outer dimensions transfer you the rails on the replacement drive rubber. They add protection against shocks to the reader while an SSD is pretty shockproof. It does not float around well! If you do not use the rails lose you and probably never find them again if needed.

Ive just started using wmml edited my home movies. The issue im having is after cutting my video to change the cut portion of the video will not play after ive downloaded. After Ive upload the video to my pc and play to watch in the media player, the video will play up to the part of split and just show a still of the video until the passage of the video split has passed, then after reading the video after splitting the video. That someone has an answer to this question... It drives me crazy...

    Thxs in advance...

Yes, I found a convert and it works now my question is movie maker allow you to trim, I don't see a pad option if I shared my video of the game, I don't want is always there, I don't see an option pad. filmmaker seems simple enough, but I am not far from editing on the small details that I don't want in my video...

Open Movie Maker > at the top, click Help > Help topics > scroll trim, reorganize and audio imported copy and video clipc > until it clicks > read and follow from there. Read "to split a clip" for the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • raid question 6 UCS 210

    Hi all

We have a UCS 210 with a LSI MegaRAID 9261 - 8i 6G card.  There also have 4x146GB 6 GB SAS 15 K RPM HDD SFF.  It is configured with raid 6 with all 4 HDD in the virtual HD group.  It seems he gives me about 278 GB.  about half 4 x 146.  does that make sense for raid 6?

We have an another c220 with with raid 5 gives approximately 1.4 to 6x300HD.  (more than half).  RAID 5 is almost identical to raid 6 and gives less than raid 5 in size.  This is why it makes no sense for ucs210 with disk HARD 4 x 146.

    If anyone can clarify this?

    very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Vijay

    Hi Vsaravanamuthu,

The values you get are expected, what you need to know is that for raid 5 you have a failure of the SINGLE player for the fault tolerance and RAID 6, you have TWO disks for fault tolerance. It would make sense that you see more large capacity of raid 5 to raid 6.   You can also find calculators of raid online that will give you and idea of the expected capacity of the raid volume (see below).

    RAID calculator

I would like to know if this helps and don't forget to note the answers useful.

    Hi all

I have a UCS C220 M3 with 4 hard drives, when I want to create the Raid 5 is not enabled, I have only 1 or 10.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    See this http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C220/ins...

You need the software key, otherwise you will only be able to configure RAID 0,1 and 10

  • Power e410 RAID question

    Hello

I have an R410 using a Perc H200 controller. In the frame are 3 disks. 2 are in a RAID 1 configuration and the third is alone. I just changed status from abroad online.

What I want to do is to use this drive as a storage device independent for the 2012 operating system on the box server. Its data not important that it will contain so didn't need to be ATTACKED. However, the only option available in Openmanage shall assign as a global hot spare. great if it's what I wanted but it's not!

I can do what I'm describing?

    Thank you very much

Sorry Barry, I almost forgot the H200 has a capacity of passthrough. The H700 and Perc 6 controllers do not have this capacity. You should be able to insert the single disc, erase any previous configuration for this drive in the controller. Then the operating system. The operating system should be able to see this solitary drive in the disk management page.

    Let me know.

  • Adding a RAID card to help speed up the export (and another question reader) in first Pro CC

First of all, I read the Page Tweakers export section because that is my main concern is. First my questions, then the background and my current and proposed configurations:

Question 1: Adding a hardware RAID controller, for example an LSI MegaRAID will sufficiently remove the burden of parity management CPU on my RAID 5 software that the CPU will jump of joy and export faster?

Question 2: If true for above, then compare thoughts on adding smaller SSD for either a RAID 0 or less two RAID 0 volume volume complete HDD RAID 5. In other words, I think the purchase of four Samsung 850 Pro 128 GB SSD to put in a four disk volume to handle everything (projects/media, media, previews, export cache), or split it into two volumes of two disks of each and divide the tasks, or keep the idea of volume four disc and previews and exports on my drive HARD RAID 5 array.

The 850 are valued at SEQ write: 550 / 470 MB/s so I could get around 2000 / 1500 MB/s read/write to a disk four RAID 0 or 1/2 who, if I divided in two volumes to minimize the volume of read/write at the same time, if it really matters with these SSD?

The Tweaker page made some comments. A split is carried out the tasks between different drives, rather than a large effective RAID can really slow things down. Because SSDS are much faster than a single HARD disk, I think its more accurate than so I'm leaning towards the configuration of four discs put OS & programs on the C drive, media & projects on media on SSD (2 disks RAID 0) Cache and D (HDD RAID 5), file exchange & Previews & export on 2nd SSD RAID 0 (or combine the two RAID 0 and their functions).

Just trying to get a point of view here, since I have not bought anything yet. Any experience/stories, I would be grateful.

    My current setup of training:

My D drive is a software RAID 5 consisting of four 1 TB Western Digital RE4 (RED) 7200 RPM hard drives with CrystalDiskMark SEQ read/write of 339 / 252 MB/s.

The C drive is 500 GB SSD (Samsung 840 (not Pro) and fact 531 / 330 MB/s.) My OS, Program Files and Page file are on C and media data/files/projects, etc. that are all about the RAID drive.

    Problem:

Current configuration allows for smooth installation, just export seems slow, usually taking between two and two and a half times the video length to export. Thus, a 10 minute video takes 20-30 minutes for export. 15 minute video can take 30-40 minutes to export. The first 10% of the export of re-encoding takes less than a minute (seems fast), but it becomes slower when the final 10 or 20 percent may hang for several minutes as my system is running out of steam. So, where's the waste?

I activated the hardware acceleration (because the GPU hack my GPU is not listed) and it can break through to 25% use a few times and eat up to 600 MB of VRAM (I have 2 GB of VRAM), otherwise it is slowed down export set. The CPU can boost at 50%, but it seems either too busy.

Our calendar is simple with two video and two audio streams (a little music and especially the voices), with simple transitions (jump cuts or cross dissolves). Sometimes, we fast correct color, so that could use the GPU? Also, given that we are filming in 1080 P 60 p and 1080 export 29.97 FPS, I think who is scaling and using the GPU. I know that without the GPU, it takes much longer. I excluded buy a faster GPU because it doesn't seem to be breaking a sweat. I just need to know if my system is a bottleneck at the level of the disk hard because I am using software RAID and my disks are slow and hardware RAID will considerably reduce the processor load so it can export more quickly.

Our files are not huge in nature. Most of our clips are several MBs each. Total files in the project are between 5 GB and 10 GB for each video with Windows Media File export being 500 MB to 1.2 GB on average. Look using Panasonic Camcorders, so the original files are AVCHD, I think (.) MTS files?).

    Considerations:

    1. I think to buy (and future proofing) a LSI Logic MegaRAID 9361-8i is 12 Gb/s SAS and SATA (because some SSD current can exceed the standard 6 Gbps).

    2. I will not replace my current HDD RAID 5 as not in my budget to spend 6 or more large SSD. These discs are more important to me for temporary storage because I delete files saved once. I don't mind a few smaller SSD inexpensive if they can make a significant difference for editing and export.

I can only guess my RAID HDD is slow but the CPU is burdened by parity. I guess running RAID 10 would not really help.

    My configuration:

    my configuration:

    CPU - CPU i7 - 3930K @4.5 GHz

    RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR3 2133 @2000

    Motherboard - ASUS P9X79 WS LGA 2011

GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC 2 GB (performed the hack of compatibility list to activate hardware acceleration).

    Drive C - 500 GB Samsung SSD (programs and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit) 840.

D drive - four 1 TB WD RE4 enterprise hard drives 7200 rpm in RAID 5 software

Box - Cooler Master HAF X

CPU fan - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with 120 mm fan

Power - series Pro Corsair AX 850 watts 80 Plus Gold

    Optical drive - Pioneer BDR - 208DBK

    Thanks in advance,

    Eric

OK, after overload of information on everything I tried (free), which might be my answer here. I went from codecs to export. When you use Windows Media File, Premiere Pro seems chugging along much slower than when you use the h.264 (not h.264 Blu - Ray). I don't know if it's because Microsoft has found a way to break it or what. But I'm the CPU usage of 70-85% on the 2 Pass of 2 as well as the use of the memory of 40% (or 12 GB). It exported in 14 minutes. Woo - hoo. I then did a similar test using Windows Media File. It took 31 minutes to export. The CPU has spent much of his time in the 30%, especially down in the 1930s mid-1940s with spike for memory usage was only 24% to 35% and 50%. Since then, I've read how h.264 codec is 'plu' for online files. It compresses better with less compression artifacts. He seems better, etc. Well, they both seemed on the same thing for me. I play both on my TV 70 "before I could comment further. In the future, I will consider a RAID controller and upgrade the HDDs to SSDS.
