SSD Bay 1 upgrade and clean reinstall of Windows 8

Just picked up a 7243cl of Costco.  I plan move the HD 1 TB in bay 2 and install a 500 GB SSD in bay 1.  Are there links on how to clean installation of W8 on the SSD?  By another thread, I already have the drivers and download link.  Thank you.

I called technical support and received the following response.  So, for all those who have a laptop with W8 installed on drive hard and wanting to transfer W8 for a SSD this is HP response:

Go to research and research on "recovery".

Select "create image", then follow the instructions to create the image on a dvd.

Create the image on the DVD, it may take several minutes depending on the amount of data that you already have on the hard drive.

Uninstall the HD, install the SSD in Bay 1, and then insert the first disk in the dvd player.

Start the computer and follow the instructions.

After W8 is installed and the computer is turned off, you can install the HD in bay 2.

I know W8 was only installed on computers for a month, but I could not find any help on this Board or the Commission of MS to accomplish what I needed.  I hope someone saves some time.

    Hello

Just unzip the files, you should be able to right click on the file and select "extract here". Once the files are extracted, just locate the .exe file and double-click it to launch the installation program, from there just follow the guests to install the driver. You may need to restart the computer for the changes to be detected. :-)

  • Upgrade the hardware of Dell XPS (L521x) how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 10 Pro

    Hello

I searched on the internet with the question that I have before doing the upgrade and the re-installation of windows. But the messages and solutions are all scattered. I really want to clear this for me once and for all if possible.

First of all, the material that I bought for this upgrade:

1 Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD 120 GB (to replace the one 32 GB (factory default)

2 western Digital Black 750Go Performance Mobile HDD (7200 RPM, 2.5 inches)

    3 Intel (r) Dual Band Wireless - AC 7260 (802.11ac, 2 x 2 Wi - Fi, Bluetooth)

    4. crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16 GB (2x8GB) PC3-14900 CL10 at 1.35v 204 pin memory

BTW, my Dell XPS 15 L521x has an intel core i7-3632QM and an nVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M. It also comes with 32 mSATA SSD as cache for the WDC 1 TB HARD drive.

    My goal:

1 install/reinstall Windows 10 mSATA SSD 120 GB and free 500 MB give or take for system reserved partition.

    2. use the remaining space in the C: drive.

    3. use WD Black 2.5 inch 750 GB HHD for cold storage

    4. Remove and reinstall the wireless card Intel Dual Band for a better Wi - Fi compatiability for most routers dual band out there. (Factory default, well, is not great to say the least)

    5. Remove and then install the crucial RAM (compatiable with L521x) is to upgrade memory of my laptop (maybe a little future-proof;) (D).

Before you start the upgrade, I know I have to do the following steps:

    1. update my BIOS/UEFI. (I did it)

2 clear accelerated Intel Rapid Start Technology (IRST) GUI (my laptop keeps inviting that "your system does not have any intel repaid with start technology").

    3. change Intel Smart response Technology (ISRT) to AHCI in BIOS

    4 back up my files

    5. my 10 Pro Activation of emergency Windows (how exactly? The Win10 Pro is upgraded to Windows Pro 8.1 with OEM Dell)

Now my question is what I do or what I've been missing so that what I will meet errors or problems if possible.

Also, I have heard or seen something on the OEM of Windows version. If I change the hardware, disk files or recovering backup activation does not recognize my device. Is this true? If necessary, I can buy a new version of Win10 Pro retail. But, what I really need to do, and does it perform a not-so-complicated work around?

    Thank you very much

    Dean

If you keep your motherboard you have no problem taking the other components such as SSDS.

Your system is already a Pro 10 Windows device.

Installing clean with 10 Windows installation media Pro TH2 your OEM Pro 8.1 Windows key will be automatically entered to the UEFI BIOS and Windows 10 Pro TH2 automatically reactivates when your systems online.

  • Steps to a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Professional upgrade.

    Greetings,

I want to do a clean reinstall (was installed once), on the same computer, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade version) and I'm not 100% sure how to do it properly.

    I have:
-Windows 7 Home premium 64 - bit RETAIL
    -UPGRADE Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

If I want to do a clean reinstall, I know that I have to reinstall Windows 7 family premium first, but I have to reactivate before you do the upgrade?

I ask because according to the EULA, we should not use Windows 7 Home premium again after the upgrade of the first time. (I don't want to lose my driver's license)

    Thank you in advance,

    Greetings,

If I want to do a clean reinstall, I know that I have to reinstall Windows 7 family premium first, but I have to reactivate before you do the upgrade?

No, but you should do a custom installation using the Professional Windows 7 disc in order for a compliance audit to make qualification allows you to use the upgrade retail license.

I ask because according to the EULA, we should not use Windows 7 Home premium again after the upgrade of the first time. (I don't want to lose my driver's license)

    Thank you in advance,

How to make a custom installation:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

  • Difference between the reset and clean installation of Windows 8

Original title: reset or clean install

    Hello!

I understand the difference between refreshing and resetting windows 8. But what is the difference between the volume where Windows 8 is formatting, then reinstall it and a reset?

    Hello

The difference between updating and resetting of Windows 8 is quite simple.

Reset completely reinstalls Windows 8 and saved nothing. Think of it as essentially formatting the drive and do a clean install.

Updating done a clean install of Windows 8, but it copies your Metro applications, personal files, etc., in a temporary location that will be added later to the new facility.

If you choose the reset option, you will be asked if you want to delete your files or clean the disc. You him more often always choose "delete my files" rather than "clean up disk" as the second option is more for when you sell your computer to someone else.

    Kind regards

    Patrick

  • Install the drivers for the upgrade and clean

I ordered a drive to upgrade dell for my laptop that is currently on vista premium, do I need to download all the drivers on an external source before the upgrade?

In addition, my office is on vista Basic, I am not sure if I have to do a clean install or upgrade, will not lose all the drivers after formatting the hard drive to do a fresh install? or is there another good way to do it? or... it's just better for me to go with the upgrade option?

No, you will not have to uninstall Vista once you have upgraded to Windows 7.  Windows 7 will be the only operating system on your computer.  You can perform a clean install of Vista to Windows 7, but after installing Windows 7 in this way, you will have to reinstall all your programs, settings and files.

  • T60: disk and memory upgrade and OS reinstall

    I have a T60 1951-CZ1, 2 GB of RAM, 100 GB HARD drive.

I need to upgrade the max memory as possible and replace with a 320 GB or 500 GB HD. What are the supported elements that I need to order?

Also I have to re-installed factory OS WIndows XP Professional. How to do this?

I've traveled a lot of messages and lenovo support pages, but I couldn't find a complete answer

    Thanks in advance

    After all, it's easy

    I finally solved it

I bought the upgrade memory and a new drive

I ordered the 1 + 5 rescue & recovery and product recovery CD

I reinstalled the XP Professional factory (rescue and recovery disk is not explicit about the possibility to reinstall on a new drive, if the precedent was broken, but finally I found the way)

I did all the updates through microsoft software updates site

Thank you all for your suggestions which lead me to solutions

  • Removal of the reserve system and PQSERVICE during the clean reinstall of Windows 7

IM about to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows 7 using the windows 7 CD that I bought. I see a number of partitions:

    Disk 0 partition 1: PQSERVICE

Disk 0 partition 2: System reserves

    Disk 0 partition 3: Acer

    Disk 0 partition 4: DATA

I would like to reinstall also costs as possible

Can I delete Disk 0 Partition 1: PQSERVICE and Disk 0 partition 2: RESERVE SYSTEM

I think PQSERVICE provides stuff like the drivers for my ACER desktop computer requires. However I already downloaded the ACER site using my serial number. I'm more concerned about the reserve of the system parition.

I got response would be much appreciated. I'm not to make a terrible mistake.

    Thank you

your PC had no any CD to re - install because it is inside the PQSERVICE partition, you must make the CD yourself using Acer erecovery tool.

without PQSERVICE and create this partition with Acer erecovery CD/DVDs you will not be able to restore factory default.

If you don't want or need it, simply clear all the HARD drive and go with a simple installation of windows 7, PQSERVICE and system restore are not needed, the system restore is not created from the new facility.

The drivers are downloadable as you have already found.

    Hello world

I just bought new hp with preinstalled on w8 envy. Separately, I bought a 250 GB SSD. Unfortunantly I was not able to move my os again by car because its oem version. Is it possible to put the new SSD as main boot drive?

In fact, I found the solution. At least for my particular problem. I could not use samsung migration tool as w8 oem installed on there. But after I did a upgrate migration worked w8.1. Sorry to keep you all up-to-date and big thank you to advise and your time.

  • ITunes skipping after upgrade to clean boot of Windows 7 64 bit HP Pavilion m9500y

I recently updated my m9500y to vista 64-bit home premium to windows 7 Professional via an upgrade to boot. Since the update iTunes ignores intermittently. Can I close iTunes and reopen it and it will play OK no problem jumping. Sometimes it takes to open and close the program several times before that it will play correctly no problem jumping.

I won't have the same problem with Windows Media Player as I've seen in other posts on this and other forums for the problem of Itunes jump.

I completely uninstalled iTunes such as recommended by HP before you perform the upgrade to windows 7 and I have all the HP windows 7 and the Microsoft updates, including the drivers and firmware.

I even tried to uninstall completely the 9.2.1 64-bit version of itunes, including registry keys and installed the previous version of Vista 64 bit which worked perfectly before the upgrade. However, I still had the same problem.

Just in case my driver realtek HD audio version 6.0.1.5910. I do music professionally and HP Smart Media and Windows Media Player simply do not cut it. I have my iTunes works properly all the time.

This is the only problem that I have. Everything else works perfectly.

I did the same windows 7 Professional upgrade exactly the same way on my Inspiron 1545 Dell 64 bit machine and I do not have the itunes problem to jump on this machine. I hope someone has a solution.

I think, with all posts on this problem on this and other boards of the HP HP machines he owes to its clients to have their engineers and programmers reach a solution. I spent at least 50 hours on the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, however, neither worked. However, all is not lost. I finally found the solution and cause, and the problem is solved. It turns out that some third-party modules were cause of conflict with itunes. I found this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US to Apple support.

I give detailed instructions on the way which we MSCONFIG to solve conflicts in Windows Vista and 7, which could be the cause of problems with iTunes. After change startup programs and services, then by adding them one at a time after restarting whenever I finally was able to hide the indentify the third specific add on that was originally my itunes jump like a needle to jump on a vinyl record when the weight of the pick-up arm is set to lowest.

In my case, it's a tool bar add-on in my Explorer window.

I also checked the other this fix from Apple and would suggest that anyone having a problem with itunes to jump or other problems itunes with Windows 7 to do both. One of the link above and this one: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1362

So, the bottom line is the problem of: Itunes to jump after Windows 7 64 bit clean upgrade HP Pavilion m9500y, boot IS NOW RESOLVED.
