Standard size for a Web site or blog

What is the pixel size standard for the creation of a website or a blog?

Thanks in advance!

Erica

That would be the size of the characters.  For page widths, we normally shoot the smallest width of viewport commonly expected browser among the target demographic site.  For general use, only the width would be a maximized browser on a 1024px wide screen, providing information about 980px usable horizontal space, without losing the horizontal scroll bars.  So - use a width of 980px page.
