  Sorry, but the starfield screensaver is no longer available, except if you have an XP machine, whereby cases you can copy it from the XP PC to vista PC (look in the start menu > computer > C:\Windows\System32, right-click on the file, select 'copy' stick on a USB key, drop it in the folder C:\Windows\System32 from the Vista PC) (, and it will be installed)

  Screensavers

  Apple TV displays a screen saver when it remains inactive for a predefined number of minutes.

  Air screensaver shows beautiful videos of slow motion of the places of the world, upload to an online server, making the screen saver more engaging and dynamic. For the antenna, you can control how many times Apple TV check and download new videos.

  Change the frequency of aerial screensaver download. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select Download New Videos, and then select an option.

  Return by using Apple TV. When the screen saver is active, press the contact surface to get to some app have been previously using.

  Choose a different screen saver. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select the Type. Then select the screen saver you want to use.

  Select the photos to display. Many of the screen saver options display a slide show of photos - it can include photos provided by Apple, or your own collection stored in iCloud. To choose which photos are used, in the settings, go to general > screen saver and select the Type. Then choose one of the types of screensaver-photographers.

  If you choose my Photos, the Photos app opens. Follow the instructions to put photos as screensaver.

  Set the screensaver time-out. In settings, go to general > screen saver and select the setting starts after, and then specify a number of minutes. This indicates to the Apple TV to start the screen saver automatically if the unit has been idle for the specified time.

  Activate the screen saver immediately. Press the Home button to go to the home screen (if it isn't already), and then press the button twice.

  My Macbook OS 10.11 screensaver does not start automatically even if I put the screen turns off after 15 min. when plugged.  I want it to start automatically when the screen turns off.  Thanks for any information!

  Can someone tell me how to set SysPrefs (or something?) so that the screen saver starts automatically, as it was in OS 10.8.6?  In response to another thread, <screen saver does not>, I found a suggestion to use the activity monitor to determine which applications can be set to prevent sleep (screenshot below) and found that AddressBookSourceSync has the value "Yes" (prevent sleep), but could not understand how set it up on 'No' or how to proceed after you have done this.  Also do not understand how "sleep, prevention, which is not the same thing as 'turn off display', is related to the problem screen saver.

  To manage remote computers, I would like to set the timer to 0 CLI screen saver. I've seen several posts suggesting changing the entrance of com.apple.screensaver.plist called 'idleTime' but as far as I KNOW, there is no such key in this plist: affects only info on the current screen saver and a 'type', as you can see here.

  I tried to add this key, but it did not work.

  Those that are stored in the ByHost folder. To change those, add the switch - currentHost:

  values by default - currentHost write com.apple.screensaver temps_inactivite 1800

  In addition, this key exists only if you change. If you leave it at the default of 20 minutes, there is no need key.

  Photos stream from your computer to Apple TV

  Once the home sharing is set up on your computer and on Apple TV, you can use iTunes for photos of stream to your home theater system.

  1. In iTunes, choose file > home sharing > select the Photos to share with the Apple TV.

  2. In the window that appears, select Sharing Photos From and choose a source from the context menu.

  3. Do one of the following:

     • Choose "All photos, albums, events and faces."

     • Choose 'Selected Albums, events and faces', and select the items that you want to stream.

  4. Click on apply.

  For more information, refer to the installation Guide for the Apple TV.

  This article says it's iTunes 12, but I have confirmed it also works with version 11 more. Once you have set up iTunes to share your iPhoto with your APPLETV library go to your Apple TV and go to settings > screen saver > Photos > then in the article titled "Computers" you should see your library here and can choose which albums to use as a screen saver. Once you choose the pictures, you should be all set.

  HTML5 is great and hopefully get rid of Flash as soon as possible.
  That said, something still bothers me when I play HTML5 video (YouTube for example): the screen saver is still as I am full screen.

  I have updated to OS 10.11.4 El Capitan. The function blocks selection screen saver in the desktop/screen saver preferences. Does not not is the message. Force quitting is the only option. What happened and how to restore all the features on the desktop?

  Please, back up all data. Quit System preferences is running.

  Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

  ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost

  In the Finder, select

  Go ▹ go to the folder...

  in the menu bar. Paste in the box that opens (Control + V), and then press return. A folder named "ByHost" should open. Search inside a file with a long name that begins "com.apple.screensaver" or "com.apple.ScreenSaver". There may be several of these files. Move them to the trash.

  Log off or restart the computer. Test. If the problem is resolved, empty the trash and re-create your settings on the screen saver tab.
