Start Y580 UEFI?

I saw in the bios that is capable of UEFI boot, but I can't seem to find the option to do so.

Does anyone know?

See you soon.

Hi reiyu, m

Thanks for the update. Just a quick check here, what version of windows you are installing?

My past experience when I inserted the windows Home Premium Retail version CD, and then start my machine and press F12 I had the Option to UEFI boot or legacy. However when I tried to install the version of Windows Ultimate, I did have the opportunity. After talking with a few technicians, they mentioned that the Ultimate version, I got was not set up with the UEFI boot where else is Home Premium, I bought.

I don't know if this info helps but would like to know which windows your installation and you have download Win7 or has been sold at retail.

    Hello

First, you will need to perform a new installation of Windows 10, make sure you have saved personal files etc. beforehand.

Demarrer start in your Bios Menu, activate the uefi boot and save the changes.

Drive HARD existing style to mbr partition, you will need to convert this to a table of partition guid (gpt) as follows.

Boot from your Windows 10 Pro media.

Open an command prompt- Option 1

Enter the following information, hit return after each entry.

    DiskPart

    list disk

Assuming that there is only 1 HDD installed then enter

    Select disk 0

    clean

    convert a GPT

When did the type exit and press to enter.

Re-run the installation Windows 10 Pro.

  • G4-2040TX Pavilion: laptop does not start in UEFI mode

Hi all. I have a problem with my laptop. In my laptop BIOS (InsydeH20 03.72.32F.26), there is an option to turn the traditional way. I formatted my drive of thumb (v220w HP 8 GB) to FAT32 using Rufus and create bootable UEFI with her. After that restart, change the legacy mode to disable, reboot again and it says 'Device not found Boot (3F0)', it's normal right? Since I changed the mode of inheritance, but after you press F9 (menu Boot Device), is empty. Return the error code and press F2 (diagnostic) because it focuses on UEFI too, but what I get is "diagnosis HP worm. 1.6.0.0"and I already installed ver 5.9.0.0, so I made a conclusion that my BIOS is broken/corrupted and touched my UEFI mode. All Solutions? Thanks in advance

PS: Sorry if I'm a noob or my English is not good

The tutorial will explain to a GPT format. Article will be also describes the creation of a system associated with EFI partition, which is required for an operating system to boot into EFI mode.

Disable legacy mode is expected to start-up in EFI if the hard drive and the OS are configured in a GPT partition with a correct BCD file and the EFI partition.

I would test this on a spare hard drive if I were you. I always do it this way to avoid the startup scenarios when no bad experience types of partitioning. It gives me a 'B' plan to fall back on, just in case things go south.

  • Recovered / Reset to 8.0 USB but no start - problem UEFI?

I did have problems starting from the recovery USB I did.  I used it as shown in line to start and do a full restore, which erased all files and took 90 minutes to completely redo the partition.  After the reboot, it starts at the USB again.  I shut down the computer and remove the USB key.  When you try to boot from the hard drive, it goes into the Start Menu.

    1. I can boot from USB no matter what UEFI mode I select, go to the command line and see all partitions using DISKPART
    2. I did all orders bootrec.exe recommended to correct, fix the mbr.
    3. I ran bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd with the appropriate settings.
    4. I can see all partitions, including the hidden factory default image (which I believe has been copied to the USB recovery.)
    5. I can access C: (started from USB X :) and the file system is there.
    6. I went to the BIOS: enabled Secure Boot, tried three of the UEFI/Legacy Boot options.
    7. I have not deleted the license keys in BIOS.
    8. I ran all the software utility tests available from menu start/applications.
    9. I have rerun the restore again without any error or change in the situation.
    10. I called Lenovo support and they require a software support contract.  (With 24 years of experience, I'm not quite ready to pay to be frustrated until I have try the forums).

I have several other available systems, so I try to run Windows 8.1 Overview for a week or two.  I thought my recovery would be the simple step to get back to Windows 8.  I mention this last because I think that the format of the deleted partition 8.1 all system and I face with a BIOS issue that is what he thinks the start is an illegal operating system.  But I guess that I would get a message.

UPDATE: according to me, this is a question of UEFI.  So that the USB repartition and reset the hard drive, I have to turn on Legacy support.  Otherwise, it indicates that the partition/disk is too small.  I come back and re - activate the UEFI mode in the BIOS, and it still does not boot to HD.

    Hi Paul,.

  • EliteDesk 800 G1: EliteDesk 800 G1 does not boot UEFI disks immediately after-> UEFI BIOS change

I am changing our configuration of the BIOS boot in the UEFI. I tried to simplify the problem.

I boot via PXE BIOS of SCCM task sequence and perform following actions:

    1. Apply UEFI Secure Boot configuration with BiosConfigUtility (enable Secure Boot, boot which is ignored anyway... order)
    2. Fixed disk partition type as TPG
    3. Create Fat32 partition to boot EFI and an NTFS volume for the data
    4. Apply WinPE to NTFS and copy the boot (bcdboot) in Fat32 files
    5. Set the volume to Fat32 as ESP
    6. Reset

Now BIOS does not allow me to start this disc. Disk appears in 'Device Configuration', but not in the boot order.

If I start again to PXE (now in mode UEFI) and check the contents of the disc, everything seems in order. If I reapply my script to repeat steps 4 and 5, and then the next time the disc will apper in the boot and boot order.

If before the first attempt of UEFI, I put in a known UEFI boot disk, the system does not start it no more.

I think that there is a bug in the BIOS.

I saw something similar with Z620. When to apply some config past to the BIOS, the system is no longer shows startup valid drives in the boot order (this attempt was in BIOS mode). Emulation of the RAID controller is switched back to AHCI has worked around him then. But this time I'm not emulation of the controller.

As BiosConfigUtility reports that it has fixed start changes but when reading them back (before or after the restart, they are the same). It's not as important, but

    BiosConfigUtility 4.0.15.1

    BIOS final v2.68

My repro led nowhere (successful boot) but I was hired by HP support and all by responding to their email, I accidentally found the question.

My BIOS setup script was a command to disable temporarily BitLocker if configuration is repeated his request for a system that is already deployed.

    manage-bde-protectors-disable c:

However, this had inexplicably FAT32 partition become encrypted. If I started to UEFI PXE SCCM WinPE on the next boot, silently erased WinPE encryption and system would be on hard disk again, causing confusion.

But when, for a test, I booted a Linux LiveCD, it showed encryption.

I guess it's been like this for a while but only in this case C: was be the UEFI boot partition (usually it's system partition). In hindsight, my repro of WinPE image have also components BitLocker...

I deleted command BitLocker and now it starts normally on hard drive after the configuration change. Detective Conan for time to engage the support of Microsoft and HP...

  • Clean install Windows 7 with UEFI in dv6-7215nr

Hi, I would like to do a clean install of my HP dv6-7215nr Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x 64 envy laptop.

To this end, I have 3 questions to solve some installation issues.

    1. What are the steps to clean install Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise intact in UEFI mode?

I tried to install Win 7 after the pre-requisites following:

    (a) not partitioned 200 GB free space on the disk (only 1 physical disk)

    (b) already installed Windows 8 files with UEFI

    (c) UEFI enabled

    (d) heritage disabled startup

    (e) secure boot disabled

When I Boot in UEFI of CD/DVD, I can't switch to the Windows startup screen, it just hangs. What I am doing wrong? Is there any other prerequisites that I don't know?

I tried to install UEFI with Legacy enabled Boot, and I installed win7 but I can't disable Legacy new Boot because Win7 boot and I want only the UEFI Boot and need for inheritance disabled.

    2. where can I download drivers for Windows 7 for my laptop?

    I found this topic:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/HP-envy-DV6-7210ei-downgrade-fr...

    They point to these drivers

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5273735 & task = &

I think I could use these drivers, but I need just in case where. I guess they should work as the product names are roughly similar (with mine).

    3. is it possible to Secure Boot with Windows 7 SP1?

I have no research on this so far.

Thanks for the help that someone in the community can give to me, it is not important all the problems that I have set in I can still do research on questions 2 and 3 and help others with my research if I can do it before a response. Any info you can give me will be too great.

    Carlos

    (1) ' secure Boot' must be DISABLED and 'Legacy Support' must be ENABLED to install Windows 7 and many other older operating systems. The bootable media must support UEFI boot to install on a GPT-partitioned drive.

You let people with DISABILITIES 'Secure Boot' (and 'Legacy Support' ENABLED) once you have installed Windows 7. Changing these options causes Windows 7 to start is no longer.

    (2) the Windows 7 drivers on the CTO Entertainment Notebook PC drivers HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 page you referenced, will work on your computer.

    (3) it is not possible to install or use Windows 7 with "Secure Boot" ACTIVE.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a consumer computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP cannot provide the drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You will need to DISABLE 'Secure Boot' and ENABLE 'Legacy Support' in the 'Configuration of the BIOS start-up secured' on the page parameters below, until you try to install Windows 7.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the boot menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive", "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers, please post to the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (just the text string will do) to these devices as shown in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Satellite C855 - 2 FG is not booting UEFI

    Hello world!

I would ask that the laptop Toshiba Satellite C855-2 FG cannot start mode UEFI? Or he will be put in a new update of the BIOS?

Before ask you, there no a favourable UEFI or secure boot option in the BIOS.

    Thanks for the replies!

If the BIOS does not include UEFI or the secure boot option, then the changes are unnecessary.
You should be able to start or install windows systems (Win 7, Win 8.1, etc.) without making any changes in the BIOS.

  • Satellite C870D-119 does not start from CD/DVD drive

I changed the boot sequence in the BIOS to the optical device is referenced to boot the system before the hard drive. The bad news is that the CD player is started but after 30 seconds, the system hard disk takes over and starts Windows 10.
I need to create a full backup of the system offline.
How can I make the labtop will boot from the CD drive?
    Thanks for any help.

    What is on the CD?
If the CD is MSDOS, Vista or XP or Win7 based, you must set the startup Boot of MSC mode.
If the CD has Win8 or Win10 then you start in UEFI boot mode.

No, your motherboard doesn't have UEFI.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.

  • Pavilion H8-1205eo: Problem with 980 Ti and UEFI

Hello! A few years ago I upgraded from the Radeon 7570 standard to use a 670 gtx graphics card in my H8-1205eo and everything went well. Recently I bought gtx 980 Ti to run the latest games at high heat. When I started the pc after installing the card, that it would not go beyond the blue HP screen and pressing ESC to enter the BIOS would show only a black screen with my characteristics listed. After reading a little online, I came to the conclusion that I need to change legacy to UEFI. I looked around a bit in the configuration menu, but wasn't able to find a way to change this in the UEFI. Should I buy a new motherboard, or I simply do not found the setting?

    Peter, welcome to the forum.

You can't find UEFI because the computer is equipped with a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  There is no way to upgrade to UEFI.  The last series of video card that did not use UEFI was 640 gt.

    Hirurgrrr, welcome to the forum.

The problem you are experiencing is caused by the fact that the GTX 960 requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  The last series of video cards that does not need UEFI is the GT 640.
