Startup Repair still running after 2 hours 20 minutes.

HP Pavilion dv6t-6100

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Removal of battery - based power alternative

When I tried to boot my laptop this morning, he got on the screen Windows logo, sitting there for about 15 seconds (more than normal) and then a blue screen. I not record the full error message, but it says something about a dll 'known' and could not start. I pressed and pressed the power button a few seconds so he can close.

After a wait of a few seconds, I pressed the power button and the display immediately goes to a black screen with the repair options to run (recommended) or Windows to start normally. I chose to carry out repairs. It was there well over 2 hours. The display shows Microsoft Corporation and animated progress bar on a black screen.

Is this normal?

I have to leave shortly and will be away for a few hours and want to know if I should leave it as what. Should I disable?

Thanks for any help.

Hello

Error 305 would indicate a hard failure and it's compatible with the problem you describe in your first post.

If your laptop is under warranty, contact HP for the replaced HARD disk.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the HARD drive yourself, please let me know - also include the size (IE 750 GB) of HARD drive you have currently.

Kind regards

DP - K

  • Stuck in "Startup Repair" for more than 24 hours. How to get back to normal?

Accidentally disconnected my external hard drive (my passport western digital), without disconnecting properly.  After that I connected again, with the power still on it, it asked me password of my external hard drive.  Once I entered the password as the frozen screen.  I manually turned off the laptop (sony vaio, nearly 2 years, vista pre-installed), then power.   He asks me to choose the startup repair or start normally.  I chose startup repair, need me a green-bluish screen with a blue loading bar.  Constantly load bar (move to the right on several occasions).  I let this one day and a half!  Nothing.  Off by pressing the power button.  Also, I unplugged the external hard drive thinking that was the cause of the problem.  No devices are connected to the laptop now. Power turned under.  Yet once, a black screen with text asking me to choose at startup repair or start normally.  This time I try to boot normally.  The screen is white and black for a few minutes, then an arrow cursor appears for a couple minutes, and then he brings me right to the Startup Repair choose or start normally.

I also need to say that any action is veeeeeeeery slow.  It takes minutes just to get from one screen to the other.

I actually pulled that momentarily to a screen with a gray window that reads "system recovery options choose a tool" with the following choices: «Startup Repair, System Restore, restore full pc windows, command prompt, windows memory diagnostic tool»  That return me to normal or the other.  Turned power off and then on again and I tried pressing F8 at startup upward.  It gives a long list of options of safe mode, etc.  I am at a loss.

Every action I take, I find myself back to choose the Startup Repair tool or start normally.  Nothing works.  There is no way, that everything is just gone!  I didn't disconnect an external hard drive accidentally!

Please help if possible.  Tomorrow will be the day 3 of this madness maddening, ridiculous.

Well, it's a week or so later, here is what happened: the hard drive was dead along... Well well... According to the pc repair shop I ended up taking to.  That is why no troubleshooting worked.

So THANKS to those who have tried to help me, but it was ultimately useless in the end.

Computers are too sensitive if you ask me.  Certainly did not get my money's worth out of it.

  • Former listeners still running after shutdown

    Hi people,

My app has a thread with the listeners for various events (email, SMS, phone).  If I use System.exit (0) the application closes. But listeners continue to meet.  Listeners will be canceled because the App went or they will remain recorded forever?  In the case of an unhandled Exception cause App termination, restart the application causes the double declaration of each event.

I use OS 4.7 (storm) and OS 4.5 (curve).

If you app is no longer in the running, they will disappear after a reboot (removing the battery).

However, a better way to manage these listeners should keep a reference to them and to remove them when the application terminates.

  • Startup Repair - how long is too long?

I'm trying to startup on a Windows Vista laptop repair which starts after would have been closed normally, after what looked like a Trojan attack.  (Do not know what happened to it exactly, but my friend was not run antivirus software!)
Startup Repair tool says 'repair disc errors. It could take more than an hour to finish", but it worked for 9 hours now, and trying to cancel it, returns the message"the repair operation cannot be undone"- is it still doing anything? It would be worthwhile to let the Startup Repair to run longer?
    Thank you

Sorry for the not not to return to this subject at that time. In the case of the laptop, I have problems, the hard drive had to be replaced. I don't know if the HD has been the cause of the original problem, or stop the process of startup repair damaged HD.

I recently installed the Win 7 64 bit on my pc nine girls.
Unfortunately, I installed on a motherboard, I had to change. One did not support the RAM I have.

But now the pc always very briefly see a blue screen at startup then suggesting safe mode or the Startup Repair.
The startup repair works now for more than 24 hours and that the current repair must not be abandoned. I'm considereing to close and restart and reinstall win 7, but it is a long process, install all software. What's your tip?
O' race he could problems drivers bee due to be installed on the motherboard first.

Startup Repair has worked 9 hours from WAU to go home 7-7 pro running. System is not blocked because I have control of the mouse and HD shows activity. What is the problem?

I would be out of system repair and safe boot mode:

Start your PC, just before the system loads the Windows operating system; Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. Select Safe Mode.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

I get startup repair screen when I try to boot my laptop Dell Inspiron windows 7, I run the scan and detects any errors. So, I tried to use a USB repair for a laptop Dell Latitude Windows 7 pro and I still can't the computer to start. Tried to restore to the factory settings, can not. After that I tried to launch the USB repair I got 0x400110020000100A error code and I received error (0x8007027E) indicating the device will not start without a reboot.

Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello

Thank you for the update on the issue. I appreciate your time and effort in resolving this issue.

You can try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    • A master boot record (MBR)
    • A boot sector
    • A Boot Configuration data (BCD) store

Note: When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the problem, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe

Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/927392

If the problem persists, proceed to method 2.

    Method 2:

    Please follow these steps:

    1. Tool command prompt open in the mode of the Windows recovery environment .
    2. You will see X:\Sources
    3. Type chkdsk c:\ at the flashing prompt to launch the utility Chkdsk. replace c:\ with the letter of the drive that you want to run the Chkdsk utility. If the hard drive is d:\, then type that instead.
    4. After the "chkdsk c:\. "insert \f command to fix errors on the disk volume or the \r to recover bad sectors and then press ENTER.
    5. Restart the computer once the chkdsk command has completed.

Note: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive, it attempts to repair this sector, if all available on which data may be lost.
