Strange 213 674 8586 - someone call ' one knows if it is a "legitimate" tech support #.

I received a call from a statement by w/a foreign accent person that I had a problem w / my Windows 7 Home Premium. Sounded suspicious, but he had some info about me that doesn't look like a telemarketer. Said that he did not work for Microsoft and gave me above phone to call at the time where I can be at my computer. Anyone know if it's a Windows Technical Support to the legitimate address #?

Sounds like a scam to me.  If you are behind a firewall and you have good antivirus software, it is highly unlikely that he could know all of the details on your computer.  Personally I wouldn't trust to any tech support called me with a foreign accent, because I think it's too risky.

Good luck.

  • Does anyone know where heard anything on a tech support company called CodeDefend? If so, are they legitimate?

    My system stagnating earlier today after an unsecured site navigation and has been invited to call support immediately and warned to not stop or restart my computer because this would cause it to hang indefinitely. So I called the number that pops up on the screen and got connected to a CodeDefend tech, who has access to my computer to fix my problem, which of course, I had to pay (hoping that I was not scammed). He scanned my computer and found precarious foreign addresses then it downloaded and run both Ccleaner and Malwarebytes and now my computer seems to work very well. I also downloaded the latest version of the system OS Sierra software to improve the overall performance of my system. I tried to do a search on Google of CodeDefend and could not find information or comments about their services. Has anyone here used CodeDefend before, and they are safe to use?

  • can someone let me know how to print a scanned document. In printing only the 1st page prints fine as I know that there is more than one document.

    can someone let me know how to print a scanned document. In printing only the 1st page prints fine as I know that there is more than one document.  This is the version Adobe photoshop cc 2014.  Someone said it you use printing quick button but who can't find anywhere.

    Carolyn

    Carolyn,

    I don't know if Photoshop is the best solution for the printing of DOCUMENTS scanned.  Photoshop opens a page of a DOCUMENT at a time, let's say you have a MultiPage PDF Document, when you open with the PS, tell him what page you want to open. Once you do, it will convert this page into basically a picture, a raster file that can be edited like a photo.  So if you go to print, it prints only one page, you have open...  So, if you have opened the first page of your document and go to print it, which explains why it only prints the first page.

    So is what file type of the document that you are trying to print?  If it's a PDF file, I opened it with Acrobat/Reader, depending on whether you have and that FILE you > PRINT it like that.   Or is there a particular reason (Lighten/Darken/increase contrast etc...) you are needing to go first to Photoshop?

    Give me a little more information on exactly what you're trying to do and I'll do my best to provide a workflow easier to achieve your final goal.

    I hope this helps.

  • I have two iPhones when someone calls me bought his

    I have 2 iPhones an iPhone 5 and my father have an iphone 6.

    When someone call me it sounds at the same time in purchased cell phones.

    This problem started when I bought a 5th generation iPod.

    Hi Teban19,

    I understand that you have a problem with a phone call going to multiple iPhones. Let's take a look at this as possible, it could be.

    The first thing that comes to mind is if you and your dad use the same Apple ID for things like FaceTime and iMessage. If this is the case, there is a continuity of calling features. This feature allows a phone call go to all your devices when you are connected. Take a look at the information below to see if this is the case.

    iPhone cell calls

    With continuity, you can make and receive calls from cellphone to your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi - Fi network.

    Your carrier can support Wi-Fi calling on other devices. If so, you can configure your Mac and other iOS devices to make and receive calls even if your iPhone is not on or nearby.

    Configure iPhone cellular calls

    • You need to iOS 8 or later version on your device iOS and OS X Yosemite or later version on your Mac.
    • Check that you are connected to iCloud with the same Apple ID on all your devices.
    • Use the same Wi - Fi network on all of your devices.
    • Login to FaceTime with the same Apple ID on all your devices. This means that no matter what device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. If you do not want to receive calls on your other devices, know what to do.

    Make a call or answer a call

    • To make a phone call on your Mac, find a contact phone number in Contacts, calendar, or Safari. Hover over the number, and then click the phone icon that appears to the right of the number.
    • To make a phone call on your iPad or iPod touch, tap or click a phone number, Contacts, calendar, or Safari.
    • On your iPad or iPod touch, you can drag to answer a phone call. On your Mac, a notification is displayed when someone calls your iPhone. Then you can answer the call, send it to your voicemail or transfer the caller a message, directly from your Mac.

    Disable iPhone cellular calls

    To turn off cellular calls on your iPad or iPod touch, iPhone go to settings > FaceTime and turn off the iPhone cellular calls.

    On your Mac, open the FaceTime app and go to FaceTime > Preferences. Click settings, and clear the cellular calls to iPhone.

    Fake phone calls to technical support

    Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

    Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

    These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • BlackBerry smartphones someone calls me

    I have the phone on top and strong profile, so I can feel it vibrate. But whenever someone calls me ringtone takes like 5 seconds before it starts to ring, even though it says that someone call me, and its vibration. Any help?

    If I read this correctly. Your phone will NOT vibrate AND ring at the same time. It will vibrate THEN ring. You can turn off vibrate completely or you can change the number of vibrates 1, 2 or 3 to shorten how long it vibrates. You can do either of these things by clicking on profiles, then advanced. You can then change the settings for several things on your device that have a dial tone. Please let me know if it helps.

  • someone calls saying that I got error reports to the CSM of hacker in my computer

    someone calls saying that I got error reports to the CSM of hacker in my computer

    they had me hold the windows key and r for program box run then type eventwr to show me message error and warning because of pirates, the top of the cookie type show I have no files to delete all cookies in the folder, then certmgrmsc to show my windows is not certified, then iexplore. support.me to check on the warning and error messages.  they wanted me to enter a code 789470 in the last 'iexplore. support.me. I told him how I know that it is that they say it is tec /msc / he gave me his name to John Maher higher tech and Roger Williams first calling me an another tech with a 1-818-572-1445 number to call him back to. I told her that I had no money in my account right now to pay for 5 years @ 199.00 or life 119.00. I don't think these guys are for real. I didn't call back and they are supposed to call me tomorrow if I don't call them all first for money to pay for. We can get them or?

    It's a scam. Just ignore it - they are just trying to make you pay for fake support services, or trying to access your computer to steal information.

    If you let their distance in, do a full scan and change your passwords on your important accounts.

  • Simple enough, but calling one method from another class

    Hi all
    I know it's pretty simple, even though I do not see where I am going wrong for some reason any. Basically, I have a class that extends JPanel but when I try to call one of its methods in my main class I get an error. The code (I hope) is:

    Main.Java
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    // ...
    import javax.swing.UIManager;

    public class Main extends JFrame implements ActionListener {

         JFrame frame;
         public static JPanel statusBar;

         public Main() {

              // ...

              // Add a status bar
              statusBar = new StatusBar();
              mainPanel.add( statusBar, BorderLayout.SOUTH );

              setContentPane( mainPanel );
              // ...
         }

         // ...

         public static void setStatusBarText( String s ) {
              statusBar.setStatusText("Test");
         }

         // ...
    }
    StatusBar.java
    import java.awt.Color;
    // ...
    import javax.swing.SwingConstants;

    public class StatusBar extends JPanel {

         private int barWidth;
         private static JLabel status;

         public StatusBar() {
              super();
              //barWidth = Main.getProgramWidth();
              //setPreferredSize( new Dimension(barWidth,22) );
              setLayout( new FlowLayout( FlowLayout.LEADING ) );
              setBorder( BorderFactory.createMatteBorder(1, 0, 0, 0, new Color(160,160,160) ) );

              status = new JLabel("Test", SwingConstants.LEFT);
              //status.setVerticalAlignment( SwingConstants.CENTER );
              add( status );
         }

         protected void setStatusText( String s ) {
              status.setText( s );
              revalidate();
         }
    }
    The "statusBar.setStatusText ("Test")"; call in the main class file does not work and I get the error:

    >
    cannot find symbol
    symbol: setStatusText (java.lang.String) method
    Location: class javax.swing.JPanel
    statusBar.setStatusText ("Test");
    >

    Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I created an instance of the class called status bar StatusBar, can I use it to call the setStatusText() method (via statusBar.setStatusText ()) I thought everything is OK, then it does not work? Even if there is an easier way to do what I want to achieve (i.e. to update a JLabel since the 'central' main class file instead of setting the JLabel static and have all classes call him directly), I'd be glad to know where I am going wrong here nevertheless.

    Thank you very much
    Tristan
         public static JPanel statusBar;

         public static void setStatusBarText( String s ) {
              statusBar.setStatusText("Test");
         }

    >

    >

    The type of variable statusBar is JPanel. That's all the compiler takes into account. It is not relevant that at a certain point in the program, the type of the object pointed to by this variable is a subclass of JPanel (because at another time, it might be an instance of another subclass or JPanel itself.
