Strange behavior when searching from the address bar
Hi all! I tried to remove google as the default search provider in firefox. To do this, I did these two things-
-Duckduckgo moved to the top of the list in the firefox search box and set it as the current research.
-Put the URL 'https://duckduckgo.com/?q=' keyword and keyword.enabled to true.
However, this makes my search from the location bar (single word and several Word channels) still return google.
There seems to be something to do with the entry of google search into the firefox search bar. If I remove that, it behaves as expected - single word searches then return an error "Cannot find server" (not quite what I wanted but probably correct behavior) and several Word searches go to Duckduckgo.
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem without removing the option of completely google search would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
It is supposed to function as described in this article, it seems that you have followed: search bar location | How | Firefox Help. I see no reason for the presence or absence of a plugin of search engine related. You have additional modules that could touch location bar behavior?
You can try this: create a clean profile Firefox. Which will work around the current modules and custom, settings have fresh data bases of fresh settings and a cache folder.
Close Firefox and starts in the Profile Manager, as described in the management profiles. Any time want spending profiles, close Firefox and come back to this dialog box.
Change your keyword preferences and see if they work in the new profile. A little luck?

Cannot search from the address bar or search even in safe mode
Hello
I can't search in the address bar or search, even in safe mode. I refreshed Firefox, delete all cookies, empty my cache, but nothing works. Also, I get a message that does not respect the firefox sync, and "this object pushed." I know that these are all different questions, but I suspect that there is a link.
I have very limited FTP and general computer knowledge, so please take I don't know anything when he answers! Really hope you can help!
Thanks in advance.
You can check if you have the XML files including Google's default search engine in the browser\searchplugins file in the Firefox program folder.
If this isn't the case, then you need to reinstall Firefox.
Try to delete the file search.json and possible search - metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the default search engines.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
Firefox will rebuild the file search.json from the default search engines in the folder "browser\searchplugins" in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.
See "create a profile":
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.

Cannot search from the address bar of Safari
For some reason any since this morning when I type a search term in the address bar of Safari and press ENTER, the browser does nothing. Previously, it would do a search or go to the entered URL.
I disabled all extensions Safari, no joy. It works only if I'm in Safari preferences and on the Search tab I uncheck Include of Suggestions of Safari.
Looking at the logs of the system I see error below. Any ideas?

I want to search in the address bar
I have the new firefox 43, when I type things in the bar recipient, my most used web sites pop up at the top and I press down arrow once and get the website, I want, but now article 1 is always the search option, I don't don't need or want it to be there I have a search to the search bar.
How do I 100% completely remove the search from the address bar icon so that the 1st item in the list goes back to be web addresses?
PS I also find it very disconcerting that during this update we asked me if I wanted to search option/suggestions in the address bar and I said no, but when I was looking into options to get rid of this 'new' this option has been activated.
What others of my preferences during the installation you just ignore?
This is a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off to do this:
- Go about: config in Firefox
- Click on the I'll be careful button
- Locate the Boolean browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
- Change the false value
Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

Cannot restore the functionality "search the Web from the address bar.
I just picked up my system of the Funmoods virus. In the process, I uninstalled all Funmoods components and then clean my registry with Malwarebytes. However, I can pick up is no longer the web from the address bar in Firefox. I followed the instructions in the help section of Mozilla on this (here: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-web-address-bar). My settings are:
keyword.URL default string keyword.enabled default boolean true
In my view, here are the correct settings, but clearly they are wrong or there are other I need to adjust the settings. Can someone point me in the right direction on this?
The only thing you would lose a rest is your extensions, nothing else. However, try this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Each time it manually to enter a url, past a url, or select a url from the address bar, the system requires that I click on the green arrow to go to the url. The entrance to key doe nothing. Am I the only one having this problem?
This problem may be caused by an extension (possibly AVG Safe Search) which does not work properly.
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.
If this does not work in mode without failure, then disable all extensions and then try to find out who is the cause by allowing both the problem reappears.
- Choose "Disable all add-ons" on issues to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode to set window to disable all extensions.
- Close and restart Firefox after each change through "file > exit ' (Mac: ' Firefox > leave";) Linux: "file > exit ')
In Firefox 4, you can use one of them to start in the questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode:
- Help > restart with disabled modules
- Hold down the SHIFT key while double-clicking the shortcut from the desktop Firefox (Windows)

Windows Firefox 29.0.01 8.1
It doesn't seem to be an easy way to reset the default search engine to use in search in the address bar. Am I missing something?
And also, why can Yahoo turn this function is the default search engine?
Hi gcraighammond, I just noticed that you had a problem, a right-click. To change the search engine, click with the left button on the icon and a list of search engine options would fall down.
Yet once, it doesn't until you move the search box back to the toolbar AND to exit to customize the view.

When you use the address bar to search Firefox automatically chooses the Web site he thinks is the best and opens the page. How can I stop this from happening?
The address bar is powerful enough for the search as it is. His behavior is editable, and you can even on the fly restrict to certain categories.

Keyboard's weird and URL disappears from the address bar
Recently, I had to reinstall Windows 7 on my computer and had to reinstall Firefox. Since the new reinstall I have two strange problems in Firefox.
1. the keyboard or keys jump a lot from the window of the address bar in FF, and it usually does not allow me to finish an entire word or phrase.
2. whenever I type in and go to a URL after the URL address charge disappears from the address bar.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the program folder before Firefox to (re) install a new copy of the current version of Firefox.
Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 26: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible to uninstall your current version of Firefox to clean the Windows registry and settings in the security software.
- Do NOT remove the data personal when you uninstall your current version of Firefox, because all profile files will be deleted and you lose personal data such as bookmarks and passwords from other versions of Firefox profiles.
Delete the program folder Firefox before installing newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32-bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (Windows 64 bit) "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a uninstall and (re) install, but make sure that 'delete personal data' is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep problems also create a new profile.

I can't remove a url from the address bar.
After completely clearing on my history, cache and cookies, a single Web site remains when I down the address bar. If I mouse over it and press DELETE, it will disappear until I re - click the arrow of the menu drop down and it shows up again. It does not appear when I put the address bar to display only the bookmarks in the menu options, but it is there when I put to only show that history. Also, if I click on the url, I am unable to bookmark this particular site by clicking on the star either using the bookmarks menu (not sure if this is related). Thanks for any help.

Cannot submit the URL from the address bar or present Google searches
I can type a URL in the address bar, but I can't submit the URL via the Enter key or 'go' button. I have google as my home page and I can type a search but not submit them. I reinstalled FF several times. I deleted my profiles. I disabled addons. Nothing works. I am running version 20. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy. User on the computer never has this problem.
If you are in a corporate network environment:
20.0 Firefox has a problem with configurations where your Windows profile is stored on a server using a UNC path (for example, \\userdata\greg). Currently, there is a solution for this. A solution could be to choose a local folder for your own settings of Firefox, but that could not be authorized by your COMPUTER. Even if it's less safe, if you need emergency of Firefox, you could switch to Firefox 19.0.2. This article has a link under 'I still want downgrade': install an older version of Firefox.
If you are in a home environment or the local settings folder, then please ignore the above.

It seems there will be no solution on other forums. And I can't trace anything whether it's relevant to this site in my computer
Hello pan903, you can try to install the addon Search reset , or manually reset the url search engine by typing on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), seeking the preference named keyword.url and right click and reset it to its default value.
