Strange problem of Application.cfc included

It's hard to explain, so I hope this has meaning. Here goes...

I have an Application.cfc in the root of my site that defines some variables.  I then an Application.cfc in each subdirectory (call each of these subdirectories a site) that includes the root Applicaiton.cfc.  I have also one includes the folder located in the root directory that I use in each site for pages that I shoot using the tag cfinclude referring to variables defined in the root Application.cfc and Application.cfc site.  For some reason if I touched the page in includes it the directory directly everything seems to work very well.  I can then shuts down for the pages of different site that use cfinclude to pull in files in the directory, and that works very well also.  However, if back us the next day and do not go directly to the page in the directory first and just go to one of the pages that pulls in the include files, we get an error saying that the variables in the root Application.cfc was not found.  I don't know where to start trying to debug this?

This is all the code of the root Application.cfc less other variables:

< cfproperty output = "false" >

<!-name of the application, must be unique-->
< cfset myIdName = "openenrollment" >

<!--> run before the request is processed
< cffunction name = "onRequestStart" returnType = exit "boolean" = "false" >
< cfargument = 'page' type name = "string" required = "true" >
< cfset APPLICATION.memberDisease = True >
< cfreturn true >
< / cffunction >

< / cfproperty >

This is all the code of one of the files of the site Application.cfc less other variables:

< cfproperty output = "false" extends = "oe. Application">

<!--> run before the request is processed
< cffunction name = "onRequestStart" returnType = exit "boolean" = "false" >
< cfargument = 'page' type name = "string" required = "true" >
< cfset APPLICATION.group = "demo" >
< cfreturn true >
< / cffunction >

< / cfproperty >

The root of this site is in fact a subdirectory named oe that is located in the root of the large site, so the root Application.cfc file lives in the /oe directory.  Understand that are in the/oe/includes directory and in the example above the file Application.cfc is in the directory/demo/oe /.

I'm new to this kind of things of cfc, so any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you!

Holli

You're right, it's complicated.

With a single pass through your explanation, my first theory is that the in the root of your Application.cfc OnRequestStart does not work.

Since you have an OnRequestStart function in the Sub Application.cfc file, it replaces the OnRequestStart in the base file.  Both do not work.

But when you run a file directly in the directory includes, this file does not use a sub Application.cfc file so it does work the Basic Application.cfc file and so this function OnRequestStart() is used.

IF this theory is true, the solution would be to call the OnRequestStart() function parent, starting with the child OnRequestStart function.

That would probably look like this.

    What have I done wrong?

It comes in two models that you include in your function onRequest()?  They give really any content?

You don't have the requested page being included.  You must add an argument to the upper part of the function to receive the requested page:

Then you must add another to include this page:

You will have to figure out if this includes should come before or after your existing includes.

  • How you include the doctype in Application.cfc?

I am trying to convert an Application.cfm-Application.cfc file and in the cfm file, I got the following:

<! - set the content type to ISO-8859-1, otherwise the default is UTF - 8->
    < cfcontent type = text/html"; charset = ISO-8859-1 ">"

<! - set the doctype for all documents - >

    " < html xmlns =" http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml ">

I think I put the cfcontent in the SystemFramework function as well as other application variables.  No matter what I do, nothing happens the doctype to appear on the pages. Where do you put that in the SWC file?

    Thank you!

If you want the OUTPUT of the OnRequestStart function, you must use OnRequest() and include the generated output.

Really, which means you could probably do all what you want just in the OnRequest method, but which belongs to you.

It is not that OnRequest() breaks webservices, ajax called ect.  OnRequest runs for ALL applications before the Web service request, ajax calls ect.

Then, if anything method OnRequest adds content, such as the content of your topic, all applications, including Web services and ajax calls.  99.9% of the time, which added content will break the format and avoid thus the functionality of these web service and ajax requests.

It is not hard to get around.

    (1) have a smarter onRequest method which includes when he meets the demands of ajax or Web service and not to provide content that will break.

    (2) make your resource webservice and ajax inside a different directory with another Application.cfc file with a different (or no) onRequest method.

    (3) as Adam said, don't put content in your Application.cfc but use any number of other methods to apply this type of standard output to all views.

Your cfobject tag is fine.  It is the cfinvoke which is probably you spoil.

Once you have created an object of a cfc, you need not to use the cfinvoke tag.  You call methods like this.

    name=" anobject"="" component="">
  • Question from newb on Application.cfc vs .cfm

Sorry for the newb question total which is probably covered a bazillion times, but I have some difficulty to get things to work.  I know this, because I got the CF9 advanced training, but when you have 60,000 pages worth of content back to the office waiting to be converted into a new design, there is not much time to practice what you have learned in class .

A lot of my Office Web site is rest when we were running CF 6.1, so what use the Application.cfm files.  Now that we have run CF8 (and could soon move to something even more recently), I would get everything upgraded, including obtaining my Application.cfm stuff in an Application.cfc file.  One of the reasons why I want to do this is because I have a few apps I want to use the OnRequestStart() methods for.

My problem comes from the fact that our Application.cfm file done many things such as global variables, queries, and other things that I can't get to work within an Application.cfc file.  Particularly strange is the fact that I've recently implemented a CF10 site to the Web sites of the company of my wife and got done Application.cfc work without much trouble, leading me to suspect a problem installing with my office.

I tried following the guide on the Hostek forum, but nothing helped.  I can't include the content of our old Application.cfm file in the new cfc.

    Any tips?

  • Application.CFC and the directory mapping

    Hello

We have a request that we would like to migrate to use Application.cfm to Application.cfc. It is a management application that is implemented on various websites (hosting us) with an "app directory" which is defined as a virtual site directory, with a few variables specific to the site (mostly just a couple of unique customer ID) located in an XML file at the root of each site definition offshore. In other words:

www.site1.com is customer web app and /configfolder/appvars.xml

www.site2.org is the same web application for client B and /configfolder/appvars.xml

The actual application is a virtual directory, say:

    www.site1.com/Mgmt/

    www.site2.org/Mgmt/

The /mgmt/ folder contains all the real application code - the only thing the root directories do is to hold the handle of the client-specific variables.

"Historically, what we have done is to have an Application.cfm file in the app folder make a /mgmt/ < cfinclude template ="... / Application.cfm "> so that the same code runs for all sites, but tire of the credentials of the unique site of the folder parent site." But Application.cfm is a bit long in the tooth.

The problem is that the server does not appear to 'find' the Application.cfc in the parent folder and I'm not sure, there is an equivalent ' cfinclude the file of a directory to the high "(sauf si vous pouvez cfinclude un CFC, dont je ne pense pas que vous pouvez le faire?)."extends"won't be not cut either because we would define a mapping to the top and know what specific Application.cfc" , we will expand when the only thing we know is that the data that we want to be in / configfolder /.

The only solution I can think of is to use a single Application.cfc and put it in / mgmt /, transfer our customer-specific variables in the XML file, that we read in via cffile to a CF page that can be included in the Application.cfc (if we do not need to know the absolute directory name, as we do now) and then put things like Application.name dynamically , but I do not know if this is kosher. I would have preferred that each site has its own Application.cfc (perhaps by dint of him being a virtual directory?), but when you go to connect to www.site1.com/mgmt/, it does not use www.site1.com/Application.cfc. I have other traditional sites where Application.cfc 'filter' to subdirectories, but there it is in the root folder, you log in to the root folder, and when you navigate to a subdirectory, CF seems to be aware that you are always in the same application.

I apologize if I did not explain this well and I'm pleased to say whatever it is - would appreciate advice on how to better implement Application.cfc in a scenario of multiple-sites-on-a-codebase.

Ah, if it's a virtual folder you will have problems. The ApplicationProxy is "the way" it's done, but (as you guessed it) CF looks at the file level and is not aware of any IIS mappings.

One reason they cannot not just in physical directories? Even using something as a junction of Windows is that they are physically located in a different place?

  • Application.CFC / cflogin questions

I haven't used one before Application.cfc, but coming from a background of software development, I kissed the idea without reservation. However, I seem to have a problem and it is a lack of understanding of the functioning of the Application.cfc, or a lack of understanding of what happens when I do a cflogin. I posted this elsewhere and have not received aid, so I hope someone here can help you.

I pretty much lifted logic cflogin directly a sample on the Adobe Web site, with only the insertion of a call from db, which makes it different. What happens is that if you start with a new session, you can link to the home page login screen, enter the login, then the next page (in which the form registers) is empty. Now, if I go back to the home page (go back one level in the directory), and then request the login page, I don't see anything more. Finally, if I change the address bar to point to my logout page, I get disconnected, it returns me to the home page, and I can now link to the login page. Thus, it appears that once I'm connected, a very bad thing that happens. There must be something that I'm really not understand CFLOGIN. What Miss me? Note that the index page is at a higher level in the tree of all the other pages that I am referencing in this post, including the Application.cfc, and they are all in the same directory. You can join my homepage at http://www.changent.com/rr/index.html. to connect, use the help / me (this won't last until I have an answer). To disconnect, click on http://www.changent.com/rr/app/logout.cfm. I have attached a copy of my Application.cfc and other models. Your help is really appreciated!

In your Application.cfc file, the logic in the onRequestStart() method is correct. This correctly handles cflogin.

The problem for you is that you also implement onRequest()
If you implement this method, you must include target directly the page to view.

Or you can remove this method so that it does not exist and the page you requested will be treated.

    Description
Runs when a query starts, after the onRequestStart event handler. If you implement this method, it must explicitly call the page requested to treat.

I am facing a strange problem in my Toshiba M115-S3094, which has been pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition and which also had the Toshiba Express Media Player.

I had already done a clean install of Vista on it, and then I decided to go back to XP with my recovery DVDs. I did the same procedures of first installation Express Media Player to backup (that I did when I bought the laptop) and then installing Windows XP DVD de Toshiba Recovery XP.

    The steps included:
1 deleted recovery Express media player disk partitions
    2. installed express media player
3 extracted Xp Recovery DVD, by selecting 'Recover without changing the Partitions' (there is no expert mode)

Everything was fine (i.e. installation)... But now, after the turning off my laptop I press the Express Media Center button, the logo "Express Media Player" appears on the screen after loading of closures of laptop for 5 seconds.

I tried to open it again and again, but the logo is displayed for 5 seconds and then my laptop stop...

Laptop works fine when I connect to windows by pressing the power button / stop.

Can someone help me on this strange question... ?

    Hello

The whole story is a bit confusing
First of all, I would like to know if your laptop is already preinstalled with the Media Express Player and if you were able to use it on your laptop in the past.

    Now something about the Express Media Player installation;
In order to use the media functions Express the Mediaplayer Express Recovery CD must be performed before performing the recovery from the recovery DVD-ROM products.

In addition, on the HARD drive should at least 150-200 MB of free space available.
This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated. To get these free space on party products 3rd HARD drive should be used as Partitions Magic 8.

I m not 100% sure that on error ID system badly but maybe it corresponds to the DMI evil information stored on the motherboard. If we're not DMI, you will not be able to reinstall Express Media player using the recovery media express CD.
In the DMI must be set properly the manufacturing: Toshiba, product name: for example by Satellite M115-S30

Finally and most importantly, I found this thread useful forum on the Media Express recovery procedure:

  • Strange problems with the database

    Hello

I just got my Fuze and am very happy with it; However, I am having a very strange problem with the database. I have a 16 GB sdhc card that I use with the "rocket" and there are about 4 songs on the card that will not play and have no information charge tag. Their tags appear in the tag browser (not the in the track information screen) as just an empty rectangle. Under the track information screen, sizes are listed as ~ 4000 mb. The songs will not play and I can not jump in front of one of these songs once they were loaded.

At first, I suspected some kind of corruption of tag, so I set out that night to track down the problem. I removed the 16 GB card and reset the player. Then, I loaded one of the corrupt in the internal memory of the player. The track has been scanned and played correctly. Then, I removed the track of the internal memory and it loaded on another SDHC card. Yet once, everything worked correctly, so I knew that the card I was using was a kind of system files or physical problem. I returned the original 16 GB sdhc card in the reader and checked that the file was still unplayable, and then I plugged the "rocket" to my computer. I transferred the unplayable file on my computer and compared (with md5sum) to the original file, thinking that if there was the file system or physical corruption the copy of the map would be damaged. However, the files were equivalent.

To make things even more interesting, I also have problems with the registration of the kind. I have some files tagged Genres such as 'Classic' and 'Rock '. In the list of the genre, I see this:

    C

    CL

    CLA

    CLAS

    Class

    Classic

    Classic

    Classica

    Classic

    Rock

So, there is corruption on the kind of 'Classic' but not the kind of "Rock". Each of the substrings of 'Classic' contains only a few titles, with most of the other titles listed where they should be. I checked that the tracks are labeled correctly and in exactly the same way as the other tracks that do not have this problem.

I am at a total loss about what to do, and I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions. I use the current firmware, 2.03.31a and the songs in question are in Ogg Vorbis format.

    MM

    Thanks for your replies.

I managed to find what may be the problem. Tracks that received corrupt tags had the names of total path with more than 256 characters. It seems that the driver internal fat32 the rocket uses vomits all over the place when the path name is too long. Before the "rocket", I got an iPod running rockbox tags with the same directory structure that I have on the "rocket", so I don't think that this restriction on the length of the path name is a limitation or requirement of the fat32 file system. Reduce the path corrected the problem with the files being unreadable.

However, the problem with foires genres the rest. Looking at the files show that corruption, they all have a little information in tags. Most of the information is contained in the hashes I have files that identify them via musicbrainz. The limit on the total number of characters in the tags of the track includes the "rocket" label is not read or use?

  • Strange problem with universal theme, jQuery and APEX 5 on Windows 8.1

I have a strange problem that makes me crazy. I get it whenever I need to run some jQuery or JavaScript in the new universal theme. This page is a good example:

    https://Apex.Oracle.com/pls/Apex/f?p=93000:600

Whenever I click on the calendar icon it opens and closes immediately. This happens when I click on and release the quick mouse button. If I do it slowly, click it, wait a second and release the mouse button, it opens as expected. I did the inspection of javascript in the firebug debugging console and I can see that each action runs twice.

On this page, you can debug:

    https://Apex.Oracle.com/pls/Apex/f?p=93000:16

    by pressing a button.

I did some tests with some of my colleagues and discovered that this happens only on computers with Windows 8.1 running pages in Firefox or Google Chrome. IE works as expected.

I invite participants in this forum to do a test for me, if they have one of the browsers mentioned and Windows 8.1. My tests were from two different laptops I (the two Windows 8.1) and also of a virtual machine on Windows 8.1. I was able to reproduce this problem on all three computers.

I also did the same test with apex.oracle.com and with my local installation of APEX 5.0. They both behave the same.

I can't reproduce this with applications having the old model like this:

    Thanks in advance.

    Denes Kubicek

Brad, thanks a lot for the performance test.

Talking with the main developers of the universal theme, this afternoon, we have now highlighted what we believe to be the cause of this problem. There's code in a universal theme that uses hammer.js and apply a logic of quick click on all the links and buttons, with a few exceptions closely. We believe that it is this code that may be responsible for these questions.

Please hold fire for more such tests as requested previously, my apologies for any lost time do. We will follow on this thread with results as soon as we can.

Thanks again for your help so far.

  • What executed Application.cfc?

I'm working on a clients system that has a library of CFC in a folder called/Admin/cfcs.   Inside this folder is an Application.cfc file.

There is also an Application.cfc file in the root directory.  Other folders as well as in the Admin folder are out of the root directory.

When I run the model /Members/Index.cfm executed some of the methods of the SWC library.

If they are not all calls to the library of CFCS that I'm 100% sure the Application.cfc in the root folder is run when I run one of the templates in any folder on the root folder.

My question is that if a pattern such as/Members/Index.cfm, calls a method of the CFC library is the Application.cfc model in the folder/Admin/cfcs executed or is the root Application.cfc that executed.

I think it's just the one root, but I'm not 100% sure.

Any thoughts?  Have an Application.cfc in the library folder causes problems?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Your assumption is correct.  The application.cfc in/Admin/cfc is not running at all, unless there is a .cfm file that is somehow used.  The CF Server first searches the document .cfm file current application.cfc/cfm; If he does not, she keeps looking for records lower and lower until he finds an application.cfc/cfm and runs it recursively.  CFCS in a file with an application.cfc/cfm does not run another application.cfc/cfm; they rely on one that was already executed before loading the requested .cfm file.

    HTH,

    ^_^

  • Frequency of triggered application.cfc/cfm

    Hello, all,.

You know... in all the years I've been coding in CFML, he never once came to ask me the question, but here it is...

If I have a page as such:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
      <head><title>Unknown Comic</title></head>
      <cfinclude url="menu.cfm"/>
blah blah blah - foo bar
      <cfinclude url="footer.cfm" />
    </html>

Does the trigger application.cfc only once (for the document itself)?  Or it triggers once for the document, and then once for each (total of three times for example above) include?

    V/r,

    ^_^

(Forgive the n00b question - it just never came to mind so far).

URL of attribute side, traction cfincludes 'in' the existing .cfm page content, so appropriate Application.cfc methods would be called only once.  It is always considered as a single application.

    (2) the directories created for each virtual on the new RAID array computer (in this case a RAID 10 array on LSI 9750-8i controller)

    (3) rSync used to copy the data from RAID1 to be RAID2

    4) has created a new data store on the new RAID through the Web Server of VMWare user interface.

    (5) removed VM of the inventory through the Web, their return, added user interface then choose files .vmx on new data store on RAID2

They have all power save fine... but three of them are not accessible on the network. I can open a console in the Web Server of VMWare user interface and they all run normally... but I can't their ping or access the respective virtual machine Web GUI. It seems quite arbitrary that those who work and those who are not. In this case... the VM that don't work is a license Autodesk, a Squid proxy server and a VM of cactus. All three of these virtual machines are 32-bit Ubuntu Server VM (two 8.0.4 and a 10.0.4)... and are the only Ubuntu VM on this host. It must be signifigant but I'm not see how.

If I delete these three virtual machines of the inventory again and add to their original location (on the RAID1) they light up AND work normally. A consultant that we were working seemed surprised, as he had also done this experiment with some of the older VMWare products. I don't see how it would be the physical location of the files of the virtual machine. Any ideas?

We rely on the migration to ESXi soon but in the meantime, we get these a few VM out of this RAID array problem. I'm stuck.

Depending on the application, it may be enough to reconfigure the IP parameters (they are very probably on DHCP now) for the newly detected virtual NIC.
