Strange thermocouple at the time reads high

I have a problem my thermocouples to high playing time. I have a cRIO 9074 with a connected to 3 K type thermocouples 9211 thermocouple module. Thermocouples monitoring 3 heat zones from a giant furnace, in which areas can be activated and deactivated with the help of a relay. When activated, the thermocouples read the temperature normally up to 800 ° C. However, when it goes beyond 800 degrees, it can seem to read normally, but when you place radiator different relay on or off, the thermocouple reading significantly changes a few times. This does not happen below 800 C see attached photos and assume that the first photo is the right base temperature:

When I joined the first box to an external drive thermocouple with its own digital screen, I don't see this radical change when switching of the relay on and outside. It has remained relatively constant.

Why I see such a big change with the 9211 module? I'm not process the signal somehow, just a direct reading, and the module itself is configured to play the K type thermocouples. The heater contactor and thermocouples are relatively far.

Any help is appreciated.

Linus

Hi Craig,.

Yes, I could solve this problem. a LabVIEW engineer suggested this solution and it worked. See Section 3 (Nonreferenced) floating measurement of Sources at this link:

http://www.NI.com/white-paper/3344/en/#toc3

The source of the problem was instrumentation amplifier input bias currents, causing the voltage level of the floating source to be moved out of reach. I need to add polarization resistors to provide a path of DC since the instrumentation amplifier inputs to the instrumentation amplifier ground and anchor this voltage level at a few references. I followed resistors in FIgure 10 and added two 100 kOhm for each of my thermocouples. Since then, I have much more fluctuating readings.

Hope this helps,

Linus

  • Control the time times of high and low of trains of pulses in C++

Dear team of support of National Instruments,

Here's what I have so far:

I was able to generate the number of pulses (a pulse = a rising edge and front descending one) that the user has indicated via the GUI I created in Visual C++ 2008.

    I use DAQmx 8.6.

I use the DigitalSingleChanWriter (hopefully, that's what it's called).

I use for the synchronization of the sample, on request.  I tried to use all other types of calendar but I always get a DAQException run the error that says I can use only OnDemand calendar.

    OK, so here's the problem:

I have a USB-6008-6009 card connected to an oscilloscope.  I know that the connection is correct, otherwise nothing would appear.  However, if I send say... 6 impulses, the delay between the first rising edge and the first falling edge is dramatically different and then the second and the third.  If I return my samples, I get an assortment of new and totally random times.  So finally, my question is "Is there a way to control the time of a great time and a bit of time?"

I use a Compaq 2003 lap top, what is worthy of the rubbish heap.  I'm not to blame on this right away as problems that will not solve the problem at hand.  Although I understand if it's actually the problem for random times, but I would still have no way to control the time themselves.

I hope that I don't have drug it too long, but I decided that distribute information on would be better then just a few tid bits.

Thank you for support, that you can offer,

    Daniel

OK, so I just returned from the lab, and this is what I got:

I was able to control the time at the time of the high and low by using the "WriteSingleSamplePort" of the DigitalSingleChanWriter method.

I put it in a loop that repeated many times that the user wanted impulses.

At the beginning of the loop, I used a delay function that I wrote and delayed for a time given and then a pulse with a value of 255 and then delayed again and a pulse with a value of 0. And then restarted the loop.

    In the end, it works.

Of course, I have another question.  I kept reducing the amount of time between two pulses (1 s, .5s, .2us and so on).  However, once I have diminished the time of secondes.01 or a millisecond, the pulses on the arrested oscilliscope becomes smaller.  It seems that past 1 millisecond Board USB-6008/6009 is unable to deal with the exigencies of the moment.  Or else the computer trash part on that I cannot deal with the exigencies of the moment.  But I believe that the Council is not at fault because it was designed for this exact sort of thing, could you tell me if there is no limitation to the Commission which prevent production of pulses in or within a period of 1 millisecond.  Thank you very much.

    Thanks for all the help,

    Daniel

Here's a very quick project on what you could do.

Of course, you could also extract the headers and place them in the rings for a natural selection more. Only parties with controls belongs in a loop if users should be able to select the columns dynamically. You must also analyze the column time differently. Modify if needed.

  • Counter: Why is 'Task is' returns True after the time of the HIGH?

Realized that my other thread has been put out on the rails by... myself.

    Started testing the "task performed is" function on a counterexample over;

Why is it returns "True" after time and not up AND down?

And more still-so, how can I get him back 'True' after the time of low AND high? How can I get it to tell me that it's "done" after 9.1seconds instead of the ~ 3 seconds like today. Is there a better setup that I can use? (the numbers are arbitrary)

A couple of notes, assuming that we have to deal with default impulses that are active top with a low idle state.

    1. in general, a pulse is defined with a 'time in idle state', first followed by a time in the status of the pulse.  Therefore, by definition a pulse (and so also a task of pulse) is indeed at the end of its active state (high).

    2. HOWEVER, the impulse first in no pulse train DO NOT USE 'small time' entry to set his time in idle state before the pulse.  Instead, it uses the "Initial deadline" entry for the first pulse while 'Low Time' is used for all subsequent impulses.

    3. as a result, when you generate a single pulse, 'Low Time' is meaningless.  Only 'Initial period' is important.  Therefore fitting your low downtime desired within the' original' instead of ' Low Time.

This type of agreement has always seemed awkward at best to me.  I think that aid should be a lot more important emphasis on the idea that 'Small time' gets ignored for pulse unique.  I mean, the info * is * there but it's pretty easy to miss before you know to look for.  In any case, hope this helps you in your application.

(An alternative you might consider is to set the pulse with a high idle state.  Then you wire the "Initial delay" to set the first time high and your task would end after 'small time' you set.  Just be aware that when you work with reverse polarity pulses, you should check the output terminal to see what is true by default as well until you begin your task and after remove you it from the State.   A given Council could be biased with meter output in poor condition, so when your task wants to reverse the polarity you might see a rising edge, the task begins in its state of rest high and then a front coming down like the ends of the task and the jury returns to its weak State by default.)

  • Satellite L500-1XL - high CPU usage all the time

    Hi all

I've owned the L500-1XL for over a year now and I recently encountered a new problem: for the last few weeks, the laptop everything can become very, very slowly. Everything I do, the laptop freezes and may stop responding for a few minutes at a time. Regardless of the application I see is to do so in the process manager, stop it, but then another application steals all CPU - this isn't a particular application...

-I'm crazy about security and make quick analyses and complete analyses frequently, including spyware and rootkits scans startup
-I update drivers all the time, but have already re-installed all the drivers that came with the laptop and no change.
-J' recently added more RAM and a new hard drive internal, but this problem existed before the new facilities
-J' tried SP1 installation integrated in a Windows 7 disc and installed, and I noticed the problem of CPU for the first time then. If after that when I put in new hard drive I used the Windows Installer disc which is come with the laptop instead and in no time the problem comes back.
-J' have uninstall the applications that I don't use and there is not a lot of new applications on my laptop that I am not familiar
-J' tried it a bit on the internet and it is a very common problem, but I still don't know what to do

This happened to someone? Someone at - it ideas? I would be very grateful, it starts to drive crazy me! My laptop is not my laptop when it wastes my time...!

Hmm hard to say what's wrong here
In the Task Manager, you can check the process that locks the CPU and use the whole performance of the CPU.
You can google for this .exe to know what software or application uses this process.

Theoretically, it could also be a virus

  • FIFO DMA read high CPU usage

    Hi al, it's a long!

I noticed a strange behaviour when I read from a FIFO DMA between FPGA and RT host on my crio (9014 controller and 9104 bottom of basket). The FPGA is writing data to the FIFO 2 points every millisecond and the loop of the RT is the reading of 500 data points each loop of the MS 250 CR period is controlled using the hold until the next ms multiple function.

Wait until the next use means ms that during the first round, the wait will be not so I gave the FIFO DMA read method a timeout of 750ms to allow data points to accumulate on this first iteration.

I then ran the VI and it read the data as planned and it was always 0 in the FIFO. Then using the system monitor, I noticed the CPU usage on the RIO and was surprised to see that it was 30% !

After a lot of puzzle and many other attempts as to set the timeout to zero if delays fair read until here, I've decided are enough data points and then executes a little behind so that there is always a constant number (non-zero) of data points in the FIFO. Now, the VI runs and only use about 3% CPU.

I thought that in the first case as I read exactly the number of points in the FIFO that I was tripping some kind of voting behavior in the playback feature which has been hogging the cpu.

So I ran a business with a zero time-out, where I was reading with 0 points of data to the left in the FIFO as in the first case and waited to see if the delay of read but it never does and the CPU usage is normal.

    So what's happening? I'm puzzled!

    Thank you

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,.

I think I can explain the use processor behavior that you are experiencing:

Case 1: Loop with nonzero time-out

-Your code starts with wait a multiple ms: This means that a 0-250 ms timeout occurs (on average 125 ms)

-Then your code tries to read 500 data points in the DMA FIFO (if 500 points come in every 250 ms). All data cannot be presented yet.

-If 500 points are not yet ready, polling occurs until they are. During the time of the poll, the CPU usage is high. Finally, the data is read.

-The next iteration of the loop begins.

-The code is now expected up to 250 ms after the last function call until the next ms Multiple. Roughly the same amount of data should be available by the end of this expectation as in the last iteration. Therefore, the question about the next FIFO DMA read should be roughly the same, and the CPU usage will remain high.

Case 2: Loop with zero time-out

-In your code, immediately after the first call to wait until the next multiple ms, you "synchronize" by reading all the remaining data from the FIFO.

-In the next iteration of the loop, we can expect the call until the next ms Multiple wait the entire 250 m means that the data DMA FIFO (discount jitter) should be ready. If jitter is low enough, this will result in delays very little of the read DMA FIFO and a low CPU usage.

I would recommend either using a timed loop and read the exact number of data points available (if your application can handle variable size data sets), or using a while loop as you are and make sure that the loop priorities are defined such that the CPU usage high does not affect critical functionality.

Thank you for the very good question; I personally really like thinking through these issues! Please let me know if you have any questions that deserve further discussion and have a nice day!

    Kind regards

  • Windows 7 seems to only detect my HDD USB 50% (or less) of the time.

I'll post the question, followed by detailed system information.  I bought an all-in-1 dual HDD Dock from Amazon, intending to use it to clone my drive and for extra storage.  When I got the thing, it worked perfectly.  I formatted the drive and cloned it once.  Then I cloned my other PC HARD drive.  No problem.  Now, I started using a small 40 GB HARD drive to store data on.  I have set up for quick removal as opposed to High Performance in the Windows computer management tool.  After 2 or 3 days, Windows could not detect the HARD drive that was plugged into the dock, but the built-in memory card reader went fine and was accessible.  I assumed that the used 40 GB drive was bad and he traded with another disk of 120 GB used.  Same question.  Read and writes data for 2-3 days, then disappeared from the workstation and the Windows computer management program.  I wrote again chalked it up to a bad disc.  Finally, I bought a new, sealed in box from Maxtor Diamondmax 16 80 GB HARD drive and installed in the dock.  No problems.  Finally, this one seemed longer that the rest, about 4 or 5 days of heavy use, as I was transferring all the intensive memory of data (videos, games and music).  Then, frustrating, it's the same thing.  The dock SD card and reader Memory Stick see drive fine, but not hard.  I have reset, nothing.  After about 30 min., it will then appear.  The next day at the start, nothing.  Then after that unexpected reset was done, it shows back, data intact, as ever, nothing happened.  It is very annoying, because my data are only available SOME of the time.  (I'm sure you can imagine).  Anyone have ANY ideas?  Beyond me.  Here is my system information: laptop Sony VAIO VGN-FW190, circa 2008, with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 [email protected] 2.27 GHz, 2 GB RAM, built-in DVD - RW and Memory Stick/SD card reader, 3 USB ports (which all have the same reaction the disk HARD, BTW) and Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - Bit with Service Pack 1 installed.  Thank you very much for taking the time to read all this, I just wanted to be very clear on the issue.  I wanted to blame the HDD Dock, but very well it seems to work for a bit, and the drive performs very well if I install internally, so I can only blame some Windows/driver problem?  It's a strange question - if they would stop all together, I would understand.  If anyone can help, or need more information, PLEASE contact me.  I ticked the box "Notify me when someone replies"... again, thank YOU!

After a few experiences, I discovered how to fix this problem.  I don't know if this method is 'safe', but it works for me and until there has been no data loss/hard disk problem.  This fix works for Windows 7 and Windows 8.  Here are the steps to take to solve the problem:
Disconnect the USB port from the all-in-One HDD Docking station PC.
    Startup PC.
With a docking power off power, remove any HARD drive located in the All - In - One HDD Docking station.  (SD/Memory Sticks do not need to be removed, but any device connected to the USB port of the station MUST be removed).
All-in-One HDD Docking unit on and connect to the USB port.  PC should detect the SD card reader was plugged.
Then the power of the device is turned on, quickly and carefully insert a HARD drive.
Wait for Windows recognizes the drive.
Then place the other HARD disk if necessary.
If you haven't already done so, use the Windows Management tool to 'say' Windows on new readers.
You will need to repeat this procedure every time you start IF you switch off the docking station.  A reset will not cause Windows to "forget" the readers if the power of the station is not interrupted.

As I said, I don't know if this method is 'safe', but it works for me.  However, I would make sure that your readers are set up for fast moving as opposed to High Performance in the Windows computer management tool.  Good luck.
