Subfolders are missing in my Windows Vista mail

All of a sudden all my especially for the Inbox subfolders have disappeared, I'm desperate to get back. I used Windows Mail for 2 years with no problems until I turned it on a few days ago.

The Inbox always works for the Inbox and Outbox, as well, but it does NOT show the pointer indicating the sub folders.

I got CCleaner, check and repair the registry

I have DL WMUtil and clicked on 'Repair', with no result.
Support MS I took the Adviser and Windows Live Mail installed.

All windows updates are installed, including SP1 & SP2

I'm sure each subfolder has it's own DBX and I have what looks like the long list to save them in my F:\Downloads\Email . I see that the Inbox itself is 1.33 GB, which can be too big?

All windows updates are installed including SP1 & SP2.

(When introduced in several years, as far as possible C:\ has been kept for the MS OS and one very little other critics of the programs so that the Image has been observed smaller as much as possible for reasons of reconstruction and restoration.) I have years of work organized and saved and do not want a multi-hour/day sessions to rebuild if the OS crashes.   Most of the other programs have been put in E:\;        and F:\ was maintained for data)

Thus, you will notice that all *.dbx files are in f, not C:\ folders.dbx was changed to folders.old, but the folders.dbx is not regenerated when the mail is opened again.

NOW, I go check Mail/Local C:\Users\Carl/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows files .  There is No folder.dbx, .old, .bak, etc..   But the records that I'm missing may not be in the local folders.  Each of the files *.eml files/messages and I can click on and open one of them.

So the sub folders (the typical yellow icon) appear to be in C:\
But the *.dbx files (icon looks like a blank white page) are in F:\
So how do them together and recognized again?

Thank you

Hi CarlP33,

C:\Users\Carl/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Mail/Local Folders is where Windows Mail stores data by default on a Vista machine. And DBX is not the format in which windows mail stores the data. He stores them in a format called. EML you find that is correct.

. DBX is dead... This is the format in which Outlook Express uses to store its data. If you find these files in F:\ they could be a backup or that you copied.

See below on how to import the DBX (Outlook Express data) in Windows Mail.

  • Corrupted Windows Vista Mail export

I tried export WIndows Vista Mail so I could import into a new machine Win 8.1. However, files are damaged and some folders and emails are missing. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I've held last year, but did not get a response.

What e-mail program you are using in the new machine? Note that the mail app does not support POP3 accounts.

If you use Windows live Mail and messages seem to always corrupt, try this.

To create a Windows folder on the desktop from the old machine.
    * Open a file in WinMail and drag the messages into the folder on the desktop. (They will remain in WinMail.)
To copy this folder on the desktop on the new machine.
Open the folder and drag the messages to a folder in the new e-mail program.

There are no errors listed below for me to check... How can I solve this?... Can I send when I open windows mail, but not when I click the send/receive button. Thank you

This symptom may be caused by the interference of an antivirus program. What antivirus do you use? Some of them are causing problems with Windows Mail over time. At a minimum, email, scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although maybe it's not enough to eliminate all the bad effects. In the worst case scenario, your antivirus program may be uninstalled/reinstalled or replaced.

E-mail analysis in any antivirus must be disabled, for the reasons explained here:

As an alternative to the replacement of your antivirus, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering from the ill effects of too intrusive antivirus programs:

HOWEVER, I'm NOT all received messages in gmail or yahoo to appear/download in windows mail.

I want to dial out, does not receive incoming messages...

(Windows mail is very hard to compose messages, gmail and yahoo have not yet understood it!)

Help! Thank you! And enjoy the beautiful day!

I know that I do not use the exact terminology, I'm sorry.

    Is not possible.
If you have settings in gmail and yahoo email accounts in Windows Mail, emails will be downloaded on Windows Mail Inbox.

  • Impossible to get Windows Vista Mail to work since the installation of FireFox

In recent weeks, been unable to access the Internet or use any messaging service using IE8. Internet Explorer opens not - except in safe mode with network. I spent several hours to solve this problem without success. Then as a last resort, I downloaded and installed Firefox and in normal mode the page Firefox came and I have full access to the Internet and Microsoft Hotmail - however I can't get Windows Vista Mail to work.

WMUtil is very easy to perform and can fix things.  Especially if you got rid of McAfee.  You may still need to remove your e-mail account and then add again, but it's also easy to do.

Many people find Thunderbird much more preferable to alternatives to Microsoft.

  • Windows Vista Mail Attachment View

I use windows vista mail. 1 month before I install Kespersky antivirus license yesterday I scan my pc with a full sweep. After that, I had problem in windows mail. When I get e-mail with an attachment so I don't see the button of an email attachment to the right where we can click and open or save and save everything that I do not see this button. Although if I open the mail so I can see the attachment but on the General view, I do not see and when the fixation button would exist, the police of this place is larger now. Please help me I have the Image of this problem but I think that there is no image attachment allowed. Please seniors help me as soon as posible.

    Hi Prince Kashi,

One of the reasons is perhaps with security software, which sometimes creates a conflict. Because you installed Kaspersky recently, you can try to disable it and other non-Microsoft firewalls present on your system and try to check if the problem occurs. If this resolves the problem, then you may need to change the settings of Kaspersky or reinstall it and check.

Note: On disabling antivirus and firewall, virus or malware can get into the system. After this troubleshooting step, select the security software.

You can view the following link to Disable Antivirus programs:

    Hope this information is helful.

  • Satellite A200-1d(a): various problems with Windows Vista Mail

    Model: Satellite A200-1d(a)
O/s: Windows Vista editions Home Premium more
Background: Recommended for a parent, now transformed into 'support harassment ".

The behavior of Windows Mail is displayed is non-standard and unreliable, for example:

Creating new folders local they are initially displayed in the list of folders (left sidebar), if the mail is restarted they disappear and reappear only if they are selected after clicking on "local folders". Other than the Inbox, local folders and the Microsoft? (used for notes, etc.), all the other default folders are missing, either sent, sent, drafts box, etc.

Another minor issue is that windows mail does not seem to recognize when the status of the internet connection changes from unavailable to available, in order to empty the Outbox and send emails, it is necessary to restart windows Messaging.

A number of occasions, all messages disappear from your Inbox and all other folders are not available, the only solution to this problem seems to be a reboot of the laptop.

This link seems to suggest that there is a problem with the security software which is now Norton Internet Security (configured and bundled with the laptop):
    http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/551829-Windows-Mail-doesn ' t-display - messages.html

I tried to disable email inbound/outbound scanning in Norton, but it made no difference.
    Next step is to apply:

and then remove Norton Internet security

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I can't provide an exactly the solution to this problem of Vista Mail but to me, it looks like a Microsoft Vista operating system problem and not Toshiba Satellite.
I don t think there could be a problem with the hardware that's why we should look for solutions.

Now you will ask where a software solution? In my opinion, you should check the knowledge base Microsoft for some useful tips.

  • Windows Vista mail program does not export the files all contacts

After I exported my contacts from e-mail in vcf format windows in a new folder on my desktop, I noticed that NOT all contracts are present in the new folder.   If the contents of the folder, I show the long side windows messaging contacts which I exported the contacts I see some (to be precise, 256) are missing in the new folder. I exported 3 times, each time in a new folder and get the same results. I see that some of the missing files are group folders (apparently Windows Mail does not export to group files in vcf format) but the other files are simply not in the contents of the desktop folder.

How can I get all the files AND folders in groups to export correctly?

I was going to say that if you were interested in the migration of these contacts to another Vista computer, you can simply copy the file C:\Users\username\Contacts to your USB and then copy it to the other computer. Which retains all the attributes, including groups.

For any other use, you're stuck fairly well with help of VCF or CSV format to export/import. Sorry, I have no idea why so many contacts are missing when you did.

There is another method (roundabout). Install the free Windows Live Mail program, which will automatically import all contacts from Windows Mail. Be sure to select the option Live ID when prompted by the installer of Windows Live Mail. Therefore, you can keep all your contacts in perfect sync with other computers running Windows Live Mail, and you also have access to the contacts on any computer connected to the Internet by simply go tohttp://contacts.live.com and sign in with the same Live ID.

You said the following: " " Windows Mail is not for the export of groups. If you'd tell us what you intend to do with the exported contacts, we are able to offer a workaround solution. »

    My answer:

I want to export my contacts to a USB key that I can take with me and be able to view them on any other PC. I have already established that if I save as the original file extension IE .contact ,, I'm NOT able to view on a computer that is running the Win XP operating system because who uses the email program Outlook Express and the file extension is .wab. I have not yet tried view the contacts vcf on Win7, but as I understand it, I should be able to view the contacts to vcf on that too.  My problem is that I'm missing 256 contacts after I export . I understand that windows Mail export NO groups, but there are only 9 groups from my list of contacts. WHY other contacts don't get exported? I'm doing something wrong and if so, what?

I appreciate any help you can give.  Thank you and have a nice day.

  • All the addon icons are missing in the window customize

I use FF 3.6.18 on XP, Vista and Win7. Given that FF itself upgrade 3.6.18, Miss all kinds of icons of the addon. Needless to say most of the addons cannot work unless that icon there to click. When I went to the [toolbar Customize] window to drag the icons réécrirait tool/menu/status bars, I find that ALL my icons missing addon. The FF default icons are there, but all the addon icons are missing. I've seen a lot of messages from people with the same problem as FF4 running, but it is not only a problem with version 4. Most of the answers provided were advised going to the window to customize and dragging that icons back out - obviously written by people who have not been read the question very carefully. Others recommend clicking the [restore default icons] button. They did not read the question with much attention either. I have this problem on my PC, those running XP, Vista and 7. Yes, I already ran ladies of virus and spyware, and that has not helped one of my PCs. reinstall the addons is no help either. Since the problem is on all of my PCs in various operating systems and upgraded to FF4 seems to make things worse, it looks like a bug in FF. Most of my friends who use Firefox have the same problem. It is a bug, or is it repairable? Does anyone know how to solve this?

After, with great difficulty, eliminating the motor leads from my system, I tried half a dozen other things, but ultimately never gave up is fixed without wiping my hard drive clean. However, the latest update of Firefox (3.6.24) solved the problem! on all my computers! Don't know what you people at Mozilla has done, but thank you, thank you, thank you. No idea what caused the problem, or what fixed it, but it's a happy camper now.

You have any third party Office toolbar (like Google Desktop toolbar, Yahoo toolbar Office) installed on your PC. You can temporarily uninstall these toolbars.
