Subreports with variable height

How do you get the subreports to print one after the other, when the height of each subreport varies? Each subreport is displayed on the page in an absolute position.

Found the answer in the help file in the properties of the reference section:

Type of position: = Float - the element is moved to the bottom because of the elements above it expands. It tries to preserve the distance between her and elements above him.

  • ItemRender creates 2 of each object. Problems of variable height TextArea

    Ok. I'll start with what I was trying to explain how I found myself here. I tried TextArea with no scroll bar that resized at the height of the text. Googling, it seems to be the solution to do this is to expand the text box and use something like

    var numLines:int = this.mx_internal::getTextField().numLines;
    for (var i:int = 0; i < numLines; i++)
         totalHeight += this.mx_internal::getTextField().getLineMetrics(i).height;
    this.height = totalHeight;

    to calculate height. It works, but then I put the component (WrappedText) in a DataGrid control and used an itemRenderer on it and things went wrong.

    What I see is that there are TWO WrappedText objects with just a line in the DataGrid control is created. The only difference when I go back is their parent, for example if I this.toString () in the creationComplete

    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1
    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1

    The problem this causes is one of these objects a numlinesrequired equal the number of characters in the text. The other has the correct value (1). So what happens is the dataGrid Gets the wrong height.

    I've trimmed everything down so there is only one line in the table etc. Here is the trace output. FACT is creationComplete of the WrappedText and RESIZE is when it recalculates its size (when the text is printed) and HEIGHT of the GRID is displayed by the creationComplete of the DataGrid

    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 196 NUM LINES 14
    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer61._Renderer_WrappedText1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer61._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer61._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 196 NUM LINES 14
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer61._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    GRID HEIGHT= 1402

    So my main question is this is a reasonable approach or y at - it another way not what I want? That is to say. a DataGrid that contains blocks of variable height, word wrapped text?

    Also, can someone explain what is happening here so I understand what I am doing wrong, for example why 2 objects will be created?

    Another interesting data point (?) is that if I put in an ObjectUtil.toString (this.parent) in the creationComplete of WrappedText the two objects get the value correct numlinesrequired example

    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 196 NUM LINES 14
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    MADE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1
    GRID HEIGHT= 142
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer13._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1
    RESIZE:  Main4_0.theContainer.theGrid.ListBaseContentHolder8.Renderer27._Renderer_WrappedText1 HEIGHT= 14 NUM LINES 1

    Note that the NUM LINES changed and the RESIZING is done after the creationComplete of the grid.

    An explanation of the foregoing would be nice so why dumping simply the object causing completely different behaviors?

    I have attached the source of my simple text program. Thank you

    Stuart.

    The creation of two converters maybe because the DataGrid creates additional converters purely for the measure. I think that this only happens if variableRowHeight is set to true. If you take a look at the source of the DataGrid and search for 'calculateRowHeight()' you will see that it calls the method "getMeasuringRenderer()" on each column to calculate the height of each row.

    Your measurement problem can be because the width of the measurement converter is not set with the same value as the width of the rendering on the screen tool. I would put a breakpoint inside the method "setupRendererFromData" of DataGrid to see what the explicitWidth is defined. Looks like that the measurement converter should be set to the width of the column. Maybe set a width explicit on your column, if you do not already.

  • MX:box as ItemRenderer and data of variable height

    Hello

    I have a component mx:List that displays a value object instances and uses an element converter to display the data in the list. The rendering engine is derived from a mx:Box.

    The problem occurs when the data to display a variable height (data may have 0 to many pieces of additional data that are associated and are displayed using a mx:Repeater in the renderer). I can't get the mx:Box to have a dependent variable height of the size of the data that it contained. I tried "height ="100% "', that makes no difference and also 'verticalScrollPolicy ="off"', which truncates just the data in the list regardless of the height."

    Is it possible to display data of variable height via an ItemRenderer?

    Thanks for any help.

    Make sure you set variableRowHeight = true on the list.

    The rendering engine is given an explicitWidth and requested to report a height based on this width.  Often, which may require to make a custom Measure [] override, but you can sometimes get away with binding to explicitWidth.

  • recorder with variable unit

    Hallo!

    I tried to use the recorder with variable units. It does not it? Can I change the units of the recorder of the version of the runtime somehow?

    Thanks for your advice.

    Hilby

    Hello again!

    I found the solution:

    Even when it is not possible to use a variable in the context menu, it is possible to put a global string in the recorder manually. I put "${Unit_Ch1}" on the ground for the unit, and it worked.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Problem with variables not excluding search terms not

    People,

    I'm having a problem with variables, when used in topic titles.

    We produce two distinct versions of a webhelp. The text is almost exactly the same, but the product has a different name in each version. In one version, he is called FLOW; in another, it is called Service generator. We use the user-defined variables to control which name is used to identify the product, when we generate the webhelp.

    So, I have (for example), a subject that begins with the heading:

    Construction of a FLOW script

    where the text occupied by 'FLOW' is provided by a variable with two values - FLOW and Service constructor.

    So when I generate the generator using the web Service version, I put Robohelp using the Service Builder variable defined, and all contained text and the table of positions generate fine; FLOW is nowhere to be seen.

    But when I type "FLOW" in the search box, the system identifies each of the three subjects that are built as in the example above, with a topic title that contains the variable used to set the name of the product. In addition, it displays in the search results using STREAM in the title of the topic, not Service Builder (but when I open the topic, the text in the header is rendered correctly).

    In addition, the system uses the "FLOW" and not "Service Builder" in the headings found by the search, regardless of what research the term is used.

    Everyone comes through this? Nobody knows how to solve this problem, please?

    Thanks in advance,

    NA.

    What version of RoboHelp do you use?

    I use the 2015 Release version. It used to be version 11.

    In the Release version of 2015, my topic Properties dialog box looks like this:

    I think that version 11 may have introduced the possibility of having a variable in the title of the topic. If your version is older and does not seem to offer a way through the dialogue box to deal with this, I was wondering if you could fudge by manipulating the code manually. For example, I see that when I use a variable in a topic title, I end up with this:

    So I was wondering if you could add just in the bit that reads:

    < InsertVariableNameHere >

    Of course, you want to replace the text InsertVariableNameHere with the actual name of your variable.

    It can fail miserably because the process of generation of RoboHelp doesn't know how to cope. But in fact, it might work! You won't know until you try.

    And even if it fails, I may be able to offer another approach that you will overcome the problem.

    See you soon... Rick

  • Reg: Cardinality Feedback for queries with variable bind

    Hi all

    One of my query (having no bind variables) takes a lot of time (10 minutes) to run for the second run.

    I came to know that its due to the feedback of the cardinality.

    I disabled _optimer_use_feedback for help and the query has been run within 2 seconds.

    If I disable _optimizer_use_feedback at the instance level, is there a problem for queries with variable bind?

    > Sorry! I'm not suppose to disclose the NAMES OF THE TABLES

    OK, no problem and I take this restriction as a chance to learn what is cardinality comments, and similar expressions.  Now, since you can't explain post program for our help, I would try to explain what is comments of cardinality and similar expressions: (since you did not mention Oracle version, so I guess it's 11.2.0.1)

    In the Oracle 11.2.0.1 database some SQL statements returns significantly different lines i.e. for some SQL statements earlier execution plan there are has 100 lines by optimizer in the first plan of execution and, where the same SQL statement executed, based optimizer 1000 lines.  This happens because of several cursors for child for a single SQL statement and change bind peeking, collection of statistics, characteristic of re-optimizing 11.2.0.1, permission to referenced objects, ACS (Adaptive Cursor sharing) etc.  The preaching of changes to lines due to above reasons as well regarding also the SQL statements that are not contains the variable i.e. AKA vibration cardinality of liaison function.

    I will highly recommend to read other links below:

  • How to run execute immediate with variables

    Hi friends,
    How to run execute immediate with variables in v_stmt below?
    I don't know how to declare value I have here.
    Set serveroutput on;
    DECLARE
       i        VARCHAR (20);
       v_stmt   VARCHAR2 (100);

       CURSOR c
       IS
          SELECT sqlid FROM temp1;

    BEGIN
       OPEN c;

       LOOP
          FETCH c INTO i;
          EXIT WHEN c%NOTFOUND;
          DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (i);
          v_stmt := 'select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor('&i',null))'
          execute immediate v_stmt;
       END LOOP;

       CLOSE c;
    END;
    /
    Regds,
    Kunwar.

    You must first use a variable binding (named ': v' in the SQL statement in my example):

    set serveroutput on;
    DECLARE
       i        VARCHAR (20);
       v_stmt   VARCHAR2 (100);

       CURSOR c
       IS
           -- modified for a quick test
          SELECT sql_id FROM v$sql where child_number > 2;

    BEGIN
       OPEN c;

       LOOP
          FETCH c INTO i;
          EXIT WHEN c%NOTFOUND;
          DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (i);
          v_stmt := 'select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor(:v,null))';
          execute immediate v_stmt using i;
       END LOOP;

       CLOSE c;
    END;
    /

    However because your SELECT statement returns multiple lines, you need to adapt your code to process all rows returned (as already suggested in first response to your message).

    Instead of using the PL/SQL, I recommend you to generate a SQL file using only SQL, and then run the generated SQL file.
    For example:

    spool edx.sql
    set serveroutput on
    declare
    v_stmt varchar2(100);
    v_q char(1):='''';
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('spool edx.log');
    for s in (select sql_id from v$sql where child_number >2)
     loop
      dbms_output.put_line('select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor(' || v_q || s.sql_id || v_q || ',null));');
     end loop;
     dbms_output.put_line('exit');
    end;
    /
    spool of

    This generates a file similar to:

    spool edx.log
    select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor('5rygsj4dbw6jt',null));
    select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor('5rygsj4dbw6jt',null));

  • How to create a layout like this: TreeField with variable RowHeight

    Hello

    Is there a way to make a TreeField with the variable row height?  According to the javadoc, it implements the VariableRowHeightProvider interface. However, setRowHeight applies to all rows in the TreeField.

    If I had to replace the method of painting of TreeField, how can I determine the high coords (x, y) lines that fall in the visible screen area?

    -MO.

    This has been discussed on the forum several times. Unfortunately, TreeField does not support variable line heights, despite the suggestive interface of the VariableRowHeightProvider. This interface is not exposed publicly, isn't available for application developers.

    I tried using setRowheight within the TreeFieldCallback and found that, on some devices, it worked if it was used to set the height of the Next line. Unfortunately once again, this proved to be a false hope, because it does not on other devices/OS versions. (I was using 4.2.1.)

    The best options seem to be to implement your own custom field or patch something together using a mixture of other types of fields, according to René.

    I would not expect this example works.  Width of the text is not always related to the canvas explicitWidth.  You'd probably have to substitute Measure [] like this:

    override protected function measure (): void

    {

    txt.explicitWidth = explicitWidth;

    Super.Measure ();

    }
