sudo

On a new Mac Book Pro with 10.11.3

in the Terminal if I go

sudo

I get the answer

sudo: unable to stat/etc/sudoers: permission denied

sudo: no source validates found sudoers, quit smoking

It is the origin of software to fail installations.

Thanks for the ideas.

Used the command ' sudo setkernelbootarchitecture systemsetup - i386 "Terminal to switch to 32 bit on MacPro Xeon with OS 10.7.5. How will I know if it is now in 32 or 64 bit mode? I need to use 32 bit for some audio software I have, including Soundflower.

Also, I found 10.7.5 be shifted somehow. I don't want losing cumulative use audio and video software so can't go as a result of El Capitan. I have almost everything, including Java and Flash works well, but I really need to use 32 bits to record Zoom R24.

Sorry for the many questions but the Apple 10.6.8 to 10.7.5 transition point is a real mess.

    Using Applications-> utilities-> activity monitor

Play with the activity-> display-> columns monitor to ensure that 'Gender' is displayed.

Make sure you view the process 'All' and not only of 'Your' process.

Then, look for kernel_task.  He should be among the 64 bits

The following text is from an El Capitan, which will very probably a little different from the Lion

What follows is a Snow Leopard system which is 32-bit by default.  You will notice that kernel_task 'Genre' snow leopard filed did nto say (64-bit).  If you have successfully changed your system from Lion to start the 32 - bit, then your kernel_task shouldn't say (64-bit).

    Solved!

Jscher2000 is right. Even if everything that said "steven: Editor", it wasn't very happy. It's what finally fixed it:

    Yori - 20:Firefox steven$ sudo chown-r steven: staff ~/Library/
    Yori - 20:Firefox steven$

    After that, it loaded perfectly.

  • Yosemite sound out problematic, unless I run "sudo killall coreaudiod" each time after I start up.

I'm running OS X 10.10.5 on an end 2013 27 "iMac 3.5 GHz with 32 GB of RAM.

I have no idea what caused it, but start within the last week, OS X has problem when switching between audio output devices. Sometimes I use output built-in, and sometimes I use one of the two audio devices USB different. But even when I manually pass the output device, either from the right or in the preferences system-noise menu bar, it does not always correctly UNLESS I run the terminal command "sudo killall coreaudiod" after which it immediately works perfectly again... until my next reboot.

Yes, a fresh user account works FINE. It is only my user account that I used since I have this computer that has this problem. I know that I could create a fresh user and migrate files to the new user all my life, but I really don't want to do that, unless it is absolutely necessary. Something almost a year ago caused this problem, and the migration to a new user was the only solution. I don't want to do that again if possible to avoid for many reasons.

I want to do is ask - someone ' one know a way to solve this without having to always run "sudo killall coreaudiod" whenever I start?

I tried just about everything I can think of without success. I have:

-Fixed the permissions normally, while the boot without failure and during the recovery Partition boot

    -Reset the PRAM/NVRAM and SMC

    -trashed Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist

    -trashed Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

    -trashed Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist

    -trashed Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemprefs.plist

    -trashed Macintosh HD/System/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist

    -trashed MyUser/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist

    -trashed MyUser/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.InfoHelper.plist

There are probably other prefs that I've trashed, I don't remember right now.

Because a fresh user does not have the problem, I really feel like the problem MUST be somewhere in my user folder library. Perhaps a cache or a preference that I have not thought. I wonder if just a reinstall of the OS X Yosemite (while keeping my user intact and NOT completely clear) would help.

Can anyone help? I don't want to deal with the migration of my user and I don't want to have to run "sudio killall coreaudiod" whenever I start.

Thanks to all those who can help you.

I FIXED IT! And remember that this is how I fixed it last year, too. Apparently an update of my software Native Instruments, a couple of weeks ago secretly put NIHardwareAgent in my list of connection.

NIHardwareAgent out of my login items and restart completely solved the problem.

So happy. I hope this can help someone else that I couldn't find this answer anywhere online and of course could not remember how I fixed when this happened last year.

When you have completed the installation of El Capitan, the Setup program deletes itself. So if you have not copied somewhere else, you will have again the download on the App Store.

  • How install Flash Player via the command line using sudo to install without being invited for the dialog "Preferences updated Flash Player"? Is there a really quiet option, no prompt?

Since the administration guide, I execute the following commands on a remote host to install flash player. However, the command stalls waiting for "Update Flash Player Preferences" dialog box to decide. I would like to run this command on a remote host and have to install without any warning. Are the other arguments to the "'Adobe Flash Player install Manager" another that '-install ', something that is really quiet? "

Silent installation of Flash Player (using Installer .app bundle)

To silently install the Flash Player 11.3 or later on Mac, follow these steps:

1 extract the bundle to install Adobe Flash Player (install Adobe Flash Player.app) of the. DMG file.

2 open a terminal window and change to the directory where the .app file is saved.

For example, if the .app file is saved to the desktop of the current user, type:

    CD ~/Desktop

    3. run the installation program contained in the .app file using the following command:

sudo. / Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Flash Player install Manager.

    install

    4. type the password to continue the installation.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You experience this behavior because you use the installer online, download and install Flash Player silently in background, but requires also the user to provide the option to update.  Setup Online is not intended for the distribution of the company.  Distribute Flash Player within your organization, you will need Flash Player (usually free) licenses for distribution.  Apply for a license, go to Adobe Flash Player Distribution. Adobe and complete and submit the form.  After application, you will receive an email with a link to download installers for the distribution of the company.  This includes installers .app both .pkg you can use.  None of these prompts to update the options during installation in silent mode.

I apologize for not noticing this before, however, I assume that you did not use the installer online since you were distributing Flash Player within your organization.

  • Run a script with the command sudo bash

    Hello

I'm trying to run a bash script with comments script Manager package. There is a sudo command in the script and he asks me problem.

First mistake is: sudo: Sorry, you must have a TTY to run sudo

So I tried to run the command sudo with ssh localhost sudo t t < command > but I get a new error (and even one): tcgetattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device

I don't know how to run as the root user is not allowed to connect.

So, launching a vCO sudo command really possible?

    Thank you!

Sudo problem is quite easy to solve; "edit/etc/sudoers on the endpoint point ssh and then comment or delete the line"Defaults requiretty". That should fix that right up. What command are you trying to run?

  • sudo: Sorry, you must have a TTY to run sudo

    Hi guys,.

When I install the 12 c management agent by using a single console upgrade step 'RunRootScript' failed with the error below.

sudo: Sorry, you must have a TTY to run sudo

But the State of the 'PreDeployAgentSW' work is successul.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem.

Can I run the root.sh script manually.

What are the scripts that I should run... If I have to run the scripts manually.

You try to deploy a fresh agent 12.1.0.x of the Add Wizard (push agent) host in the console EM OR you upgrade your existing em 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 using upgrade agent agent console in the EM console?

    (a) If you are doing a new installation of 12.1.0.1 agent then look at the requirement of the section required pre sudo:
You will need to be defaults requiretty comment in the/etc/sudoers file (this is fixed in MS 12.1.0.2)

    (b) If you upgrade the agent, then make sure that the agent upgrade work is successful and see details here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/upgrade.121/e22625/upgrading_12101_PS1_agents.htm#CIHCEEIB

If you are upgrading a management as a User Agent that does not have root privileges, or that you upgrade a Management Agent without having preferred preferred credential, a warning is displayed. You can ignore this warning during the upgrade. Later, you can connect the host to the Ma as the root user and run the $/core/12.1.0.2.0/root.sh script. After you run this script, make sure that you also run the $/core/12.1.0.2.0/replacebins.sh script on the host computer.

It is also explained in the guide: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/upgrade.121/e22625/upgrading_12101_PS1_agents.htm#CIHCEEIB

  • ESX 4.1, areas and sudo

    Hi everyone - here's what I got:

    • ESX 4.1, enclosed area, adding the permission (to ESX) for a specific user, "bob", who is a member of the "VMware Admins" group administrator.

    • "bob" can connect to ESX with the VI Client as: mydomain\bob with his AD password

    • "bob" can connect to the service console via SSH as mydomain\bob with his AD password and 'su -' to become root

    • When bob use 'su -' everything works fine

As principal, I don't like not leaving 'bob' use 'su-', and prefer to activate / require use of the command 'sudo' that's why I added the line in the file/etc/sudoers:

    mydomain %
VMware\ Admins ALL = (ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL

And it seems to work great, except the variable shell and path. "bob" doesn't it because its files and directories are all listed in white, and there type the full access to the many orders as path "/ usr/sbin/vmkfstools...» »

My question is: How do I "bob" shell and the way it is used to without creating a specific account on each ESX server "bob" manages, as we?

    Thank you-

    +The Invisible Admin +.

Ask the user configure his WAY depending on the shell he uses as bashrc OR what I've done in the past, is to edit/etc/profile and there is a section that adds the paths to the root, I extended that to all users, you have no need for users to configure.

If you vi the file, you will see a section that has the following:

    # Path manipulation
    if ; then
            pathmunge /sbin
            pathmunge /usr/sbin
            pathmunge /usr/local/sbin
    fi

I basically extend that to all authorized users, so instead of putting only for the root user, apply it to all:

    # Path manipulation
    if ; then
            pathmunge /sbin
            pathmunge /usr/sbin
            pathmunge /usr/local/sbin
    fi

    pathmunge /sbin
    pathmunge /usr/sbin
    pathmunge /usr/local/sbin

Depending on your security needs, this may work or you can lock more

  • SUDO upgrade

Guys, is it possible to update the version of SUDO on an ESX host?  I have ESX 3.0.2, which I believe is running version 1.6.7p5

I suggest not to change the Console of Service packages.

BTW seems that sudo is not used by VMware service and application, then you can try at your own risk
