  I have a Vista laptop that I am trying to use with a desktop running Windows 7.  I try to use the file and printer sharing.  I have no problem with internet connections through my U-Verse gateway.  I am also capable of sharing files from the Windows 7 Desktop, but when I try to access the Windows 7 laptop computer it askes for a user name and password.  I passed to the page Advanced Networking two computers and confirmed that the network discovery, file sharing, public folder sharing, and printer sharing are all 'ON '.  Protected by password sharing is 'OFF '.

  The problem seems to come and go.  Sometimes I can get it to work, was not.  Sometimes, it works once but not a few hours later even though computers have not changed or been restarted.

  A note more than I also use an XP laptop on the same network, and it connects more reliably.

  Any help is appreciated!  It drives me crazy.

• Cannot connect to share on another server with a short name only

  • We are having a problem with a SCCM server on windows 2008 R2 enterpeise and trying to connect to another Server 2003 \\aush-pen-xxx01\c$ and gets the error message the specified network name is no longer available. I can do a nslookup and ping the server very well. can map using the ip address and the fully qualified name fine. Can get to other thin servers. and also connect to other servers to the server aush-feather end. This works if the server, then it stops again. No errors in the event log. Tried to get other disks on the server and the same issue. I created another share with permisions for all and always the same question.

    Any ideas?

    • This is the C$ which is the part of the administrator and I can access other servers. I created a test share and get the same question even if share and security permissions are at the world. When I restart the SCCM server, it's good for a while, then I get the error again. I need for SCCM to access this share. Maybe some kind of smb or implementing caching perhaps?

  Skye was working fine until yesterday, I took out for a meeting, came back and have since been unable to connect.   Printer: HP LaserJet 8150 printer shared and listed in the directory

  Problem:

  When I try to install the printer in the Add Printer Wizard, choose install a network printer, she finds a driver on the server, installs, then brings up an error (see topic).

  3 have you tried to play a different CD or DVD?
  4. what happens when you play the same DVD on another computer?

  5. for how long have you been faced with this problem?

  6. the DVD folder that you are trying to play supported by the windows media player is it?
  7. What is the type of DVD that you try to play?

  Method 1 step number d makes reference to the present Details tab on the event viewer, where you can get the details of the error. Operation failed with error 0x0000007e"I just upgraded to Vista by using the upgrade Acer and had the problems that Windows tried to download the drivers from Lexmark-, but could not. [the same lexmark printer and the configuration worked without any problems before the upgrade on this combination of machines running vista and xp].
