So I trashed the Photoshop preferences file and, there again, all seemed well.   I googled this type of problems and found items dating from November 2004 on C/NET is caused by a virus. It seems that the viral behavior for me. I have installed McAfee but no warning or detection doesn't seem to have occurred.

  You can try the following steps and check if it helps:

  Method 1:

  Restore default font settings.

  a. open fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, then fonts.
  (b) in the left pane, click font settings.
  c. click on restore default font settings.
  Note: this deletes the changes all the textbooks that you have made to your display settings.

  However, the symbol font is present on my system.  My text has a mixture of symbol font and font Times New Roman (formulas).  The new roman times comes through fine.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  are you sure that they are the same exact font, and it is enabled?

  If not, no matter. Just go in the menu; Type / finding fonts... Select the missing font in the menu and replace it with the symbol font that resides on your computer.

  Most likely, it is a path is dedicated to the. See the Panel layer to ensure.

• Problem with some fonts of symbols after the installation of the Sierra

  Hello

  I have recently upgraded the OS on my iMac late 2012 for Sierra, since doing so, I noticed a problem with several fonts.

  All symbolic symbols Apple to Wingdings fonts not correctly displayed in the font book. Apple symbols looks like a standard wheelbase of san, and other symbolic fonts just show as question marks '?' where the images should be.

  In text editing, that I can't even see the symbolic fonts like Zapf Dingbats and Wingdings in the selector. However, they all work well in Adobe Illustrator (CS5) and Microsoft Word 2011. Apple symbols still looks like a standard font.

  I already tried the following:

  1. check the fonts in font book

  2 fix the duplicates in the font book

  3. using the "Restore Standard fonts" option in the font book

  4 deleting a file in the folder Preferences plist Fonts

  5 deleted the cache of police and the database

  I'm out of ideas. Has anyone else had the same problem found a fix?

  I'm just to add that I used the recovery partition to do a clean install of Sierra on a hard drive external and then booted into it to see if it had the same problem.

  And he does. Wingdings and other photo fonts appear as '?' in boxes where the letters must be in the font book.

  So this seems like a problem with the way Sierra displays these fonts, not with the font files themselves.

• Help! Symbols of editor press (a font in the character map) is missing! ... and I really need it back!

  After a reinstallment need of Windows XP on my laptop hpPavillion and the reinstallment of Microsoft Word 8 I found that one of my most favorite fonts, "Symbols of press writer" is missing.  I had a lot of different symbols used in almost all word documents I had created for the past 5 years and I am very worried that the backup files containing these symbols will be ruined.  "Symbols of writer press" is a font I found in the CHARACTER table, System tool under the Accessories heading. My questions are:

  1 - does anyone know if CHARACTER MAP is on the operation or on the Application and system recovery disk recovery disk driver?  or is it in the recovery of Microsoft Works 8 disc?  If it's in one of those, I'll try reinstallation/recovery and, hopefully, get it back.

  2 will be ruined my backup files?  I haven't tried to recover my backup files again, fearing that I am that they are not available.

  3. download the specific font?  From where?

  I'd appreciate any help you can give me... It has been very frustrating... Thank you very much for your help!

  Dear Wunders, finallly managed to find PressWriter symbols fonts!  Thanks to your suggestion, I have ckd with Broderbund, but the police couldn't get them... instead, one of their representatives of clients suggested a search yahoo... I foundwww.ufont.com there the police, it was easy to download and install (but I had to be careful because I followed the instructions)!  Now he is back at the table of characters, it is available for all my past (and future) documents, and I learned to have more fonts for my computer... quite a trip, but worth it!  Thanks again!

  I as a developer have some problems with the Build-In font Segoe UI symbol.

  I use win10 and been happy on a few large icons in this shot. My webpage under Win7 and IE10 by operating

  (and surely a huge lack of updates, I know there are some update) I recognized that NO symbol appears instead of strange boxes... however.

  So when the police of MISTLETOE is free for Win8/Win10/Win7 because it is built in, I decided to welcome the police within the App - but! What! All downloadlinks I can find are

  1. no MS

  2 cost money

  So my question - I really need to push all customers of our customers to get the latest updates - I mean, it is a webapplication, if that's the answer I need kickoff of this police and stop can search the Web for any great idea.

  OS X installed system fonts, and if shoot you one of them, you can get it in the following approach.

  1. Pass the 'damaged' current symbol on your desktop font
  2. Apply the OS X combo update for your specific version of Mac OS X
     1. I'll post back a link to update the drop-down list appropriate, if you share the specific version of Mac OS X that is currently installed.
     2. This will reinstall the system, including the correct Symbol font fonts.

• Some symbols which showed previously on Firefox are more predictable.

  The symbols that were previously visible all the time on Firefox is no longer seem to load. Instead, they appear like this http://snag.gy/Oztzz.jpg . Before this problem, these appeared as small circles and large circles... Many previously visible symbols are like that. I never met this problem on Firefox on any other OS, so it's a Vista thing or what?

  The only way I know to do, is to type in the appropriate character code (Alt-0179, using the keypad), then highlighting the unique character (in most fonts, it is the exponent 3), then change the font to "symbol".  The rest of the characters in the string will be in the same font as before, only the highlighted character will change.
