  HI there, the hard drive failed on my MacBook unibody aluminum end 2008. a couple of years ago, I put in 8 GB of RAM so my thought has been that it is not yet time to entirely replace the MacBook. I replaced the drive HARD failed with a 500 GB compatible hard drive. I tried and failed to install El Calitan via a bootable USB key, because my machine is too old. I just ordered a copy of the Snow Leopard DVD on the Apple store. I wonder how I can install snow leopard on my computer, given that the DVD player on this subject does not? I am able to create a Version bootable USB of Snow Leopard on MacBook for my roommate? He is running to El Capitan. Could someone explain if this is possible and if so, how?

  I have a C4580 All in One Printer and I have a MacBook running snow leopard 2006 model. My printer does not fundamentally answer to one of the buttons on the face of the printer. I found that there is however an update critical for the firmware in the downloads section, when I run the firmware update, it won't go past the agree page. It just says: Okay then nothing.

  The only reason to upgrade my Macbook Pro has been because the iTunes was not compatible with my new iPhone SE. (there where we need the itunes 12.3.3.17 and who used to work on my OSx snow leopard 10.6.8)

  Please help me to solve the above problems. Also let me know if I need a downgrade to older versions of the operating system

  To be honest, with only 4 GB of RAM and running El Cap - it all seems normal with a HD of spinning.  Snow Leopard is much lighter and compact operating system.

  The only reason to upgrade my Macbook Pro has been because the iTunes was not compatible with my new iPhone SE.

  It doesn't pay to get too far behind in technology or OS X.

  I am trying to transfer bookmarks from 25 FF goes into OSX Mavericks of 25 FF running in OS x Snow Leopard on another partition on the same computer. The. .Html or JSON files generated by Mavericks backup / export features, will not matter in FF in Snow Leopard. Selcting them has no effect. Can't open html files in a tab of the browser in Mavericks or Snow Leopard. Try to open or to import the .html files in Safari or the other operating system does not either - he tells me that I don't have permission to open the file (permissions are verified, they are ok).

  I tried this, but after a little violin, I found the source of the problem.

  When I create the .json files .html permissions read 'me' as the owner and "Everyone" does not have access. I had already changed this in Mavericks so that 'everyone' with rw permissions.   If you want to backup, it is best to start again... clean the new backup any attempt to add a previous backup failed.

  I recommend that you actually erase the TC... do a complete factory reset and start again.

  No, but you must have insured all the software you have installed, changes to the system, in particular, was compatible with El Capitan.

Reason: whenever I try, a message appears through the PRINT icon in the Dock, read: "ERROR: has not received a Fax number. There is no fax option in the Print & Fax window in the System Prefs so I have no idea about the origin of the error message, but suspect there is corruption in the printing preferences.  So I went username/library/Preferences/com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs plist... and a file is moved to the trash.
