  Hello, I have a T60P 2623d8u with video firegl 5200 and 4 GB of ram. It was an impressive machine, but it crapped finally out. He would not light up when it is plugged in, when the battery is removed or added just quite dead etc. I tried to push the thing of frankenstart power button to eliminate the static energy, but it was a no go. I checked the voltage adapter, as well as the relocation of memory, hard drive, battery cmos etc. nothing worked.

  I was happy with it for a long time and would like to just replace the motherboard. What motherboard model number needs and it is expandable somehow?

  Sorry to hear about your T60p.

  The only 'upgrade' in the conventional sense of the term would be a motherboard with graphics card V5250 leave a model later T60p.

  However, you can install a plan of 14 "(4:3 non-widescreen) T61/p that would use 8 GB of RAM and more modern CPU."

  It is much simpler to just buy a 14 '' T61/p and keep other parts unit, but that's just my opinion.

  I'm looking to replace the hard drive died on my T60p 2613ETU (specifications complete available here). Dead hard drive is a 100 GB 7200 RPM SATA 1.5, and I replace it with either the WD Scorpio Black 500 GB or Scorpio black 750 GB. Are there problems that I am likely to encounter? My machine will recognize SATA 3, or will I have to play with the horsemen, or something else?

  Also, I'm thinking the RAM of the laptop expansion. I have 2 GB of memory installed, but as I understand it the Mobile Intel 945 PM Express chipset does not use more than 3 GB? Will, an another gigabyte installation, for a total of 3 GB, no problem for me?

  Welcome to the forum!

  You'll be fine with any level (9.5mm/2.5') SATA laptop drive, some riders don't need, but your machine will always operate at speeds due to the chipset SATA 1.5 limitation.

  And / 3GB (you need laptop RAM 667 Mhz PC2-5300) won't be a problem either.

  I upgraded the memory and hard drive of my thinkpad t60p (8743-CTO).

  I've updated all the tools to think vantage.

  Presentation Manager (v 4.62) has been updated remove the old. Now I get the OEMDSPIF message. DLL cannot be loaded.

  I saw a few suggestion to upgrade the video driver, but I don't if it's necessary in my case.

  Reason: I had installed v 4.62, which wasn't for T60P. In the "requirements" section it says "this version of Presentation Director is for ThinkPad systems out in 2010 and thereafter. If your ThinkPad is released before 2010, visit the Lenovo support Web site and download the version appropriate for your ThinkPad model. »

  Solution: Uninstall v 4.62 and install one that was better suited to the T60P ie., v 4.08.

  I use the preview mode icons in the Finder feature to pre-select one or more images for later use in documents. The pre-selection spans more than 30-40 records, each a few images from 80 to 120. At the beginning just after the start of system-Finder takes about MB, 45-47. Working through records about 20 this is increased to a muscular 1.78 GB. Which is not a problem at the moment because I have 20 GB of available, but I was wondering why the Finder is the hungry.  And also, this increase in the number of forever with the number of records, I'm working through?

  The only way I can "free" memory to baseline is to force quit viewfinder, but there must be a more elegant method.

  Finder, as the system and other applications, will use unused memory in the file cache. It uses more memory, but it does not use what is available and who otherwise would be wasted. If something else needs memory, cache memory is reduced. There is no need to keep 'liberation' memory. The system will take care of him for you (that's why all apps free memory are unnecessary placebos that actually reduce performance).

  Your system is running out of RAM, not disk space. 4 GB is the absolute minimum of RAM. Try to remove all unnecessary startup items (Preferences > users and groups > you > login items) with the key less (not simply uncheck the boxes - which hide just the app but it still works).
