"Your system is running out of Application memory"

Hello

Since last week I have been having a problem where my computer screen appears with a reading of the question 'your system has sold out of the memory of the application.' This happens around every 20-30 minutes to use my computer, where the issue is resolved by restarting my computer. However, this message appears when I have 1 or 2 applications open (including the permanent Finder application). At my computer without a doubt a lot of memory left and I installed only 5 additional applications: League of Legends, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook. I used OS X El Capitan for the first half of the week and macOS Sierra for the second half, but the upgrade did not solve my problem.

I run:

MacBook Air (13 inch, mid 2013)

1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor

DDR3 4 GB 1600 MHz memory

Start drive Macintosh HD

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

Your system is running out of RAM, not disk space. 4 GB is the absolute minimum of RAM. Try to remove all unnecessary startup items (Preferences > users and groups > you > login items) with the key less (not simply uncheck the boxes - which hide just the app but it still works).

You can also run activity monitor (Applications > utilities) to see what is using the memory.

You must specify a linker flag this option in the header of the image of fs9.exe because FS9 is a 32-bit application and use 2 GB of virtual address space.
With the indicator largeaddressaware under your 64 bit OS, it is possible for FS9 to use up to 4 GB of address space.
Get the SBB Explorer (http://ntcore.com/exsuite.php) open fs9.exe, header to open the file then click on 'Click here' and mark "App can handle > 2 GB addresset", save and close fs9.exe.

  • my computer continues to run out of virtual memory

I deleted programs and defragged my computer.

To make sure that we are talking about the same thing.

Exactly how do you know that you run 'Virtual memory' specifically?

Virtual memory is actually a 'swap file' specially allocated space on the hard drive. Most of the facilities have it set to automatically expand and shrink as needed. If freeing space on your hard disk and Defrag is reasonable.

The amount of used and free space on the hard drive you have?

You should also check the amount of virtual memory allocated.

    1. Open the 'System' using the shortcut dialog
    2. Notice how ' installed memory (RAM): "you have.
    3. Press or click on advanced system settings. You may be prompted for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.

    4. On the Advanced tab, under performance, tap or click settings.

    5. Press or click the Advanced tab, and then under virtual memory, press or click on modify.

    6. Claire runs it automatically the size of pagefile for all drives check box.

    7. Under drive [Volume label], tap or click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.

    8. Press or click Custom size, type a new size in megabytes in the initial size (MB) or maximum size (MB) box, type or click on set and then press or click OK.

In general, the recommendations are that you should have 1 to 3 times your RAM memory allocated to virtual memory.   If I have enough free space on the hard drive, I personally prefer the size of the max and min even swap file.

Originally, in the 1980s and the beginning of the 90s HD space is at a premium and so was RAM (I paid $5000 for my first computer with 2 MB RAM and 80 MB of free disk space!). It made sense to let the system allocate more swap file space according to the needs, and then free it up. But this approach also has the effect of fragmenting the HD.  Now ship computers with RAM that is literally orders of magnitude larger than at the time and so are HD, in fact, if you have lots of RAM, say more than 4 GB for a home user, I've seen some recommendations to minimize the size of the swap file. These same days budget computers come with more than enough disk space that continuously allocate enough virtual memory is not a constraint.

If you set a constant pagefile size, it's probably a good idea to defragment the paging file too. This requires special tools to defragmentation.

  • Lightroom 2015.3 CC constantly crashing: 'your system's short-term memory application

I installed 2015.2 CC Lightroom in September on a brand new MacBook with 256 Gb SSD on OS X 10.10.5. My photos are on a Tb SSD Transcend 1. This platform is purely for the treatment of the photo.

Shortly after I had a problem ("your system has run out memory of the application") that I raised with Adobe, through their Support/Chat. It is a contact with a chain of people who each asked me to remind the problem and he never spoke. The last of them says it's the Mac with a leak in the memory.  I gave up, then quickly noticed a LR update to v. 2015.3 was available on CC. Support Office failed to mention the update.

So I downloaded and have been running Lightroom CC 2015.3 for several weeks without problem. It seems to have solved the problem.

But yesterday, I had just started video in the module slideshow (30 photos) when I got out of memory dialog box again.   Force to stop everything except LR and then resumption of the LR has allowed him to continue for several seconds until the message 'application' out of memory ' appeared again.

I then rebooted the Mac and LR several times and this was always the 'out of memory' accident, even with just the Finder and LR running.  Only force them to leave LR allows you to reboot the machine.  If Lightroom = 100% unusable.

The preference 'Use a graphics card' is not defined.

    lr-force-quit-b1.jpg

Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled LR.  Using the same catalog LR crashed whenever it was launched.

Preferences of LR "System info" shows that this time LR crashed he used 197 GB of virtual memory.  (The figure starts small and quickly rises.)

    lr-system-info-b.jpg

At the same time the memory of LR reported by OS X's Activity Monitor rises also regularly and quickly 250 MB or more, in this case, to 65 GB... When the message "' not enough memory ' appeared.

    lr-activity-monitor-b1.jpg

Today, I decided to try again with a catalog of backup LR 2 days ago. No immediate problem with memory except that I noticed that LR has opened in the slideshow module. I is not long in the library and develop create a new collection.  A few seconds after powering down movie Export, LR crashed with the same problem of memory.

So, it seems that this is related to something in the film of the slideshow module Export function.  A Force quit of LR and restart seemed OK, even if she opened in the show, but this time it has not crashed.  I was able to export the collection and now quickly produced a slide show in Photos from Apple, that's at least reliable.

When Adobe will come out a version of Lightroom that runs under OS X and reliable product of movies?

Whatever the problem is, I'm losing time and patience with Lightroom.

OK, I burned my slide show twice successfully without problem.

Lightroom uses real max 18% memory and virtual memory less than 4 GB.  The largest consumer of resource has been amecommand to 2.42 GB.

    So good fix Tanuj, Bravo.

    But...

1 when is Adobe going to this catastrophic recurring problem?

2 are supposed to search in cache files all the time.

    Please notify.

    Thanks Tanuj once again.

    Hello MRuggles,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you have a problem with that!  I found some information with different troubleshooting steps.  I have listed below a few out that included the link below.  Please let us know status.  Thank you!

You receive the error "your computer is running out of memory" message when you start Flight Simulator:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/892610

When you start Microsoft Flight Simulator, you receive the following error message:

Your computer is running out of available memory. Flight Simulator will now exit. You can't have enough free space on your hard drive. Run Disk Cleanup to free up space, and then try to run Flight Simulator.

Method 1: Space available hard drive

    1. Click Startand then click my computer.
    2. Right click on the hard disk where Flight Simulator is installed, and then click Properties.

Note Flight Simulator is usually installed on the C drive.

    3. Make sure that the amount of free space is more than 500 megabytes (MB).

Note the 500 MB space available disc is required to play Flight Simulator. 1 gigabyte (GB) of available disk space is recommended. If you do not have at least 500 MB of available hard disk space, you must delete or remove some files or programs on the hard disk.

  • iMac to run out of memory system [Etrecheck report]

I have an iMac 2013 end (27-inch, 3.2 GHz i5) with 24 GB RAM installed running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5). Whenever Safari is open, it slows down gradually until I get a message "your system is out of memory the application" and several applications have been suspended. I tried to reinstall the OS X without result.

Once a report of Etrecheck indicates failure Drive with 19 errors, I contacted the Apple Support. The tech support guy was not familiar with Etrecheck, but don't think it was a defective drive. He had me DOWNLOAD & running Malwarebytes (did not find anything), create a Test user (which looked OK) and accompanied me through the removal of the caches in the library in my own user (which seemed to work for a while). He seemed anxious to finish my problem, so I let it go. Then he started to slow again. Subsequent reports of Etrecheck showed still drive failure but with only 2 to 5 errors. Now the drive seems fine.

Safari seems to be the cause. I deleted several tabs and off most of the extensions, but it did not help.

Here is the current Etrecheck report:

  • Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Error code: 0 x 80007114

Operating system Windows XP, at startup, I get the message: "Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full"and displays the error code: 0 x 80007114.  (I have a new drive hard with enough space) Outlook Express always open well and functioning normally.  The message mentions and how to fix the problem?  Thank you, Rick

Jump here (nothing Bruce suggested is false), I did a search and found this old article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/245419), which indicates that there is a bad entry under the identity key in the registry (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background).  So if it's a big problem, you can do the steps suggested in this article and that will fix it.  Or if you have just one account, then backup your settings and the identity key and then delete the identity key and then start OE and it will establish a new, and you can then set up your account again, and then import the messages from the older directory.  But it does not indicate the major corruption, so you can just ignore it.

  • Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. This process may be denied requests for some applications.

When I start my laptop I get "your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. This process may be denied requests for some applications. "and my laptop takes forever or does not open my programs. any help? Thank you.

    less than low disk space,

What seems to be the case, it's that your windows is having a hard time resize its file for virtual memory.

my suggestion is to remove "auto" at that time, and then set a custom format.

I recommend that you set the initial size of 2 and max at 1152.

Here's how to put a link:

  • My PC says that it can not download dates because virtual memory runs out? Who can help me. Thank you

If anyone can help to guide me to overcome the lack of virtual memory. Thank you.

I've never seen this difficulty it work or do something, but you can of course try it (he says it of fixing, but makes no changes for me).  I think this is another of these Fix sound that doesn't fix it.

I'm not sure that the idea to the other link "get your virtual memory" is a good idea either because it doesn't tell you how to find out how much you have memory, or how much it raise.  Just bumping may be not a good idea.

Research in Manager tasks will tell you not how your currently running applications use unless you enable the column size virtual memory manager tasks, so that the idea will not a great party serve for you-at least that is how it works on XP system never I've never worked on virtual memory.

If you look in the event viewer after this message, you are likely to see is something like this:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Application Popup
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 26
    Description:
Application popup: Windows - virtual memory Minimum too low: your system is low on virtual memory.
Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory
for some applications, applications may be refused.

    You already know that well.

I think it would be best to ask a few questions first, check a few things, see what you have now and then decide what to do:

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

If you mean that you see a message like this:

Virtual memory minimum too low: your system is low on virtual memory.  Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file.

This means that Windows XP is to let you know that he does his work.  The message is not an error message - this is an informational message.

If XP thinks that the size of the swap file (usually c:\pagefile.sys) is too small to accommodate your day-to-day transactions, it will adjust the paging file to expand the pagefile and display this message as it does.  It is not necessarily a 'problem', but the message is boring.

Sometimes, the message indicates someone was tampering with the XP of the paging file settings to try to solve another problem that usually has nothing to do with their paging file and resolve things inefficiently.

This could mean that the settings have been adjusted for certain values that don't make sense for the configuration of the system.  Unless we know the system better, you can't just pick certain values out of the air and that your system behaves effectively.  You might not see the message again, but this does not mean that the settings are correct.

This could mean that the settings have never been properly in the first place when you first install of XP and things must be properly configured.

Sometimes, as your system configuration changes over time and other applications are running and get bigger, you may add additional RAM to your system to accommodate things (or run the number of requests).

At least that learn you more about managing memory than Windows XP, it is usually best to simply let XP manage the size of your virtual memory paging file.

To see what your current, make settings right click post work, properties, advanced, performance settings, Advanced tab, virtual memory, and then click the button change.

Make a note of the current settings in case you need to change their return more later.

The best setting for the size of swap file is usually going to be:

    System managed size

Right click my computer, properties, Advanced tab, Performance... Settings, Advanced tab, virtual memory... Change.

Set the paging file size on:

    System managed size

Don't forget to click on Set (to be defined), OK (several times) and then restart your computer.

Windows XP will attempt to affect a swap file approximately 1.5 times the total amount of RAM installed on your system.  To manage the size of paging file Windows XP is enough for most configurations.

If your system is not set to the size of the managed system, you must determine how it changed and why (usually a bad reason), make a note of the current settings to change them back later if necessary, and then change the setting to the size of the managed system, click on the Set button and then click on apply to apply the changes (you will be asked to restart).

"Because someone told me to" is not a good reason to start making adjustments to the size of pagefile.  Setting just above to enlarge it by an arbitrary value can ease the symptoms of the problem and stop message, but may not result in the best configuration for your system.

If you want your system to operate as efficiently as possible, you must understand what is happening and fix it properly and not only begin to try things or make some arbitrary adjustments.

The size of the pagefile can really need adjustment, but you should at least try to know what you're doing and why you need to do.  It is unlikely that anyone can tell you how to adjust your settings properly without more information.

If you don't know what are the best settings, or if you are not sure what should be your settings, follow these steps so that we can see what you have:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the results here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and what appears to be personal information for you, simply delete the personal information of the pasted information.

This minimize back Q & A and eliminate the guesswork and assumptions.

    Warnings of boiler plate:

DO NOT delete files in your folder-> library tree as it has things like backups of your iPhone, your emails, your application preferences, etc...  If you think that you found something in your Home-> library folder which can be removed, you must ask first.

DO NOT remove the files outside your home folder, you can end up removing something essential to Mac OS X and transform your Mac into a costly "door Stop."

I want to say that you will find a few very large files in private-> var-> vm (these are Mac OS X virtual memory paging files (swapfiles) and where Mac OS X stores the RAM copy when your Mac is paused).  The swapfiles are removed on reboot, and the sleep image will just be recreated when you put your Mac to sleep.

If you think that you found something to remove outside your home folder, it would be better to ask first before deleting.  There are many examples of people deleting files outside their home folder, rename files, or change the property or file permissions and then their Mac stops running.  Don't be one of those people.  Ask first.
