T61 7662 of XPP SP3 W7P and replacement HD upgrade - have a few questions

I have a 4 yo T61 model 7662 with 4 GB of ram and XPP as OEM operating system.  Intend to replace HD and install W7P.

1. not sure about the rqts of replacement to select a new HD and debating whether to go with 750 GB or 500 GB (7200 RPM) and how can I be sure that the laptop, fall free function will work ok with some HD I have install.  Is there something I need to enable a setting to indicate etc etc to ensure that works well?  Is a builtin fueature to HD is ILO a chip based laptop or something that sends a signal to HD?

2. I'm a student and my University has an agreement with microsoft for students to get MS software at a reduced price.  So I download pleasantly W7Pro do the installation.  I am eligible to get the W7 of Lenovo recovery discs (for a price) and what should I do?

3. how to get the version of W7 to the Thinkvantage Productivity Center to install on my new install W7P?

4. should I download some drivers from Lenovo to do this install of W7?  Before or after? I already did so using the MS software that my laptop is qualified to install W7.

5. I have a 1 TB external drive where I can store my files temporarily to uninstall/reinstall.  Is the free download of MS that helps make this interesting to use process?

6. once I have implemented the virtual XP capabiulity - if I have a software that must be run in the virtual XP, files used by W7 also accessible by programs that are running in virtual XP mode, since everything is NTFS? Let's say, for example I import a file from the internet using a browser running in W &, then I switch to XP virtual use a program to process this file?

  • Map chart and PowerSupply Upgrade Plus a few questions

Before you begin, my PC is HP Pavilion p7-1167 c desktop PC.

I was planning on upgrading my graphics card to a MSI GeForce GTX 760 2 GB Twin Frozr Gaming OC graphics card.

And either a Corsair CMPSU-600CXV2 600W PSU or a Corsair HX650 650 Watt power supply.

in any case, on the issues.

    (1) these are compatible with my PC?

    (2) the graphics card will fit in my case?

    (3) this will void my warranty?

    Thank you.

    (1) number and YES... Your computer has a slot of PCIe x 16 v2.0 and the card you have chosen is v3.0 PCIe x 16. This can be retro-compatible. The Corsair CX600 will fit in the case, but you can opt for the CX600M. The CX600M is modular and will help in the management of cables and better air circulation.

    (2) the 760 GTX is a beast, and you may need to get a smaller (shorter map). Open the box and measure along the crack of PCIe x 16 from the back of the housing to the front until you reach an obstruction.  Just below that is the longest card desired.

    (3) No, unless your computer is damaged by installing these accessories.

    Hello

    Method 1

Refer to the article below and try the steps mentioned, check if it helps.

Windows XP restarts when you try to shut down your computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/311806

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I suggest that you check to see if the problem persists in safe mode.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Method 3

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

  • I have a few questions about the internet and partition recovery

I deleted completely OS X Yosemite and only left Windows. Now that I'm pretty sick of Windows and want to use my Macbook Air for real, I am using recovery of the internet (order and R) to reinstall OS X.

I backed up all my data and that you haven't stored anything in my Macbook. My questions are: (I know they are long, but they are quick to respond)

    1. I want to erase everthing on my Mac. I have now 3 partitions. After starting and pressing command + R, I would use disk utility to erase everything, like this .

After you click Delete, would be merged my 3 partitions in 1 and I could repartition my Mac?

    2. I want to create a partition for OS X Yosemite (and possibly upgrade to El Capitan). What is the minimum recommended size for partition OS X Yosemite? (Because my SSD is only 128 GB)

    3. Let's say I create 3 partitions, let's name A for OS X, B for my data and C for reinstalling Windows. If I boot into Windows, I'd be able to use (read and modify) data on B, or just OS X could do that?

4 the amount of data I should download during the recuperation of the Internet? I guess that much since I'm downloading the OS X package, but my internet is quite slow, so I want to know how of SGB I have to download.

5 If I asks me to enter the Apple ID to download OS X, would any book Apple ID?

Thanks for reading. I would be extremely grateful if you answer my questions. See you soon

    • 0: have backups of everything that you care and disconnect external drives except those you use specifically.  While he isn't supposed to, repartitioning should always be supposed to cause a total loss of data.  Corruptions can and do happen sometimes, unfortunately.  Stray user commands can sometimes target bad drives for erasure or repartitioning, because errors can happen.  Do not connect anything unnecessarily.
    • 1: Yes.  You want to create a volume of GPT partitions.
    • 2: let Yosemite size and add his own scores.
    • 3: using Boot Camp to add the Windows partition.  With a small that disk, I might well Park out Windows on an external storage device, or use a virtual machine, and Windows as a guest.   In general, add additional user-defined partitions are not general, something I recommend.  Resizing and adding and removing partitions can meet with corruptions, provide for backups.
    • 4: depends on various factors, including least aren't servers from Apple how busy are, and how fast your network link is.  I have used to create a local installer and use it.   That fact also resumed and other operations more quickly, at the price of a few $ for a drive of sufficient size.  Recent versions of OS X are ~ 6 gigabytes in size, based on installers the.

It is up to you to determine if there are apps you want to keep. Windows comes with everything it needs to run except the drivers of course.

You should always check the Web site of the manufacturer for drivers that are available for the version of Windows that you are installing.

  • Upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional and I have a few questions?

I'm about to upgrade to Windows Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit, but I'm very nervous (stupid - I know).  Currently I have Vista on a SATA internal hard drive, but is planning to install Windows 7 on my much bigger and 2nd inside SATA hard drive, which currently has no importance to this subject?

    1. Is it possible to install Windows 7 on an internal hard drive with Vista on another?  I have no intention to use Vista more so once Windows 7 installed will not need to keep if it is possible to do.
    2. Assuming that I can install Windows 7 on disk more while Vista is a smaller, I cause operational problems by removing Vista once Windows 7 has been wing not unhooked?
    3. Assuming the above is possible I will be able to "faithfully" copy/move/import (not sure of the method - help please) users existing file structure and data from the old files of user profiles of Vista on the smaller disk to the new files in user profiles Windows 7 on disk more nothing lose or create compatibility problems?
    4. If not, should I just stick with the installation of Windows 7 over Vista and use the larger 2nd disk to store users.  I chose this option will data being stored on the disc more to maintain its security between users.  That is, if Winodws 7 is intalled on the smaller C drive and I connect like me, can I keep my data of user on the 2nd drive internal more all ensuring that other users cannot access the data just by accessing the 2nd disc via "my computer"? I hope that makes sense!
    5. It is even possible to store data of the user safely on another drive to the operating system, but still maintain user security principals / separate secure?
    6. It is possible to install Windows 7 on the 2nd largest drive I can (before deleting Vista) user folders simply drag - move in new files of the user, I create in Windows 7 or is it more complicated than that.  (I'll try to find the simplest method to keep user files structures and existing Vista and import/copy/move data in new user profiles in the new operating system).

Sorry for all the questions but the family counts on me to get it right.

Show stopper, is that you can do a upgrade in place of a 32 bit OS (Vista in your case) to a 64-bit (Windows 7 64 bit) OS, you must perform an installation "Custom"and clean. "

This means that you should backup your media files data external 9to) before starting and reinstall all of your applications after installing Windows 7 64 bit.

Question: Did you buy an "Upgrade" version or the "full version" of Windows 7?

Regarding the drive to use, either will work, but the procedure is different.

  • New to HTML and Dreamweaver but I have a few simple questions on my site...

I have created a blog on my site and can't understand why the paragraphs separate. I tried to use the < p > tag but it does not change. What am I supposed to do?

In addition, the part gray where is the blog post... I would like to expand the width to fill the screen and more. How can I do this? Thank you!

Do not use an iframe.  It is not easy to use.  Just give a link to your blog on the blogger site.  No one cares really if your blog is hosted on your server or not.

To restore the spacing of paragraph by default for your site, delete this from your CSS code.

  • ThinApp assessment and I have a few questions

I did a search... was not able to find anything specific to my question maybe I'm just blind.

I'm test ThinApp, and so far it looks like a great thing.  However I have a question... How an application updates itself if the changes are all sandboxed?  Is there a feature to capture tool to capture updates and apply them?

An example would be Adobe Acrobat (or any product Adobe also)... they are good on the application of patches and update.  When a new update comes out, I have to go to my capture VM and install the program, update, then finish the capture and build it again?

And what about programs that require a restart?  Starting the program captures automatically restarts?

Seeks to deploy via network shares.

    ekisner,

I use firefox as an example.

Say I deploy as a thinapp firefox.exe, and people have the standbox stored in the default location (%AppData%) on the local machine (not a network share)

A new version comes out and firefox 3.0.10 released, firefox will download the updates in the sandbox of the user.  If a restart of the program is necessary, then just leave the application as usual and run it again.  The new version will be loaded.

The updated files are stored in the sandbox, so:

-each user must update firefox individually, and therefore your internet access will be used for each person.

-If the sandbox is removed, he reverts to the original version of firefox packaged with thinapp

In this situation, if AppData% % was pointed to a network location.  This means that you could possibly use a lot of space due to a large number of users.

Option 2... Turn off the 'auto-update' features  I probably suggests that if possible.  When you want to update the version of firefox, repackage the version that you want to use and stick, the network share as a firefox.1 (I think, consult the manual thinapp).

Therefore, the network share would be:

    Firefox.exe

    Firefox.1

When the thinapp runtime starts, it loads the most recent version (exe, then 1, then 2, then 3) etc.

    Kind regards

  • the m17x R1 upgrade and have a few questions.

I have the m17x R1 using the Duo processor T9600 @ 2.8 GHz, as well as video cards double M260 nVidia GTX and NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M card. I think that the original M260 have finally gave up on me. I can't make them work. Him will not be displayed in the Device Manager and I can not connect an external monitor. They look like they appear in the device under 'Other devices' Manager as 'Base System Device', but I'm not 100% sure it's them. I've had problems with them under and turned off for about a year now, so I think they have finally given. in any case... I want to update my maps graphics and CPU to the greatest as I can without changes to the computer laptop itself. Just plug-and-play. Does anyone know what that those who would and maybe a price about?

    Thanks in advance.

    Alienware-Milena

For the CPU, you can jump to:

    I7-740QM to 1.73 GHz

    I7-840QM @ 1.86GHz

    I7-940XM @ 2.13 GHz

in fact, it is NOT accurate or correct... the M17X R1 used processor Intel Core 2 cpu not the I7, it of the original system, the core2quad Q9100 or QX9300 (extreme), I believe, was the fastest for this system, I have owned a so.

the M17X R2 was the first with the first generation i7, I've owned 3 of them LOL

with regard to the cost... EBAY is probably place you'll find thses parts the older generation as the R1 is a fine system of 2009.

I had 280 double and a QM9000 and he had much powerfully in 2010, today his former tech, my cell phone still has power that the system did lol
