  Panda Antivirus must be compatible; on its download page it asks me a browser that I use and not inform me of any limitations.

  I'd be skeptical on an antivirus software download page if it says that it requires you to use only Internet Explorer to work. Make sure that you are accessing the correct web page and does not download from a third party site (where you can download anything other than a security suite, without your knowledge). I had a BT call yesterday to say that my computer had a visus affecting my account to broadband by launching all kinds of wickedness at random by e-mail! They then sent me a number of virus scanning options, I did. Panda has identified a number of problems so I downloaded and installed the Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware, apparently with success. However, when I then tried to restart, I can't seem to login screen and a Panda icon appears randomly in the corner right bpttom. Don't you thin my laptop is dead, or is there a solution.

  It's really not easy to say what the problem is here. Software Panda is not known to me, but you can try to start the machine in safe mode. After pressing the power button / stop press F8 and select Safe mode.

  In safe mode try to start the panda software and scan any HARD drive with it. Maybe it will work.

  Also - as an aside - please do not kill your system resources by installing Norton.  Get something much simpler (like Avira AV or eSet NOD32 AntiVirus - anti-virus product only, not more...) and use the build in Windows Firewall.  Your system will be faster and you will have less problems.
