TB keeps giving me a Security Exception request.

For several days I get the popup to add a Security Exception. I check permanently store this exception before clicking on confirm Security Exception. After clicking on that SEVERAL times it finally disappears only to the pop-up window a little later and I have to repeat the process. I use Thunderbird since 2008 and it can manage 3 emails from work and 1 personal e-mail. l have had this happen before.

My personal server settings are email(x1)

I exported a copy of the file details crt, but I don't see a way to download it here. I'll be happy to send an email to someone if needed.

Resolved in a different thread but the same problem. Disabled AVG Antivirus for e-mail. No problem since.

thread cobraflex describes the problem exactly. I use WinXP sp3, tuberculosis is up to date. My ISP is shaw.ca cable with a Cisco portal. My computer is a wired connection to a router (linksys) using DD - WRT. No other problems!

Well, my 2nd pet irritate? It is absolutely amazing how people don't understand that the DATA is completely useless if it is not accompanied by a DATE! People NEVER delete data from their databases so that you can't tell if it's 6 months or 6 years!

Not quite the case here - your last post was close enough so that when I called Shaw, we were able to sort it out.

They specify no inbound security - defaults to what we have implemented under "outgoing server".

Therefore, it seems more like this...

        Incoming Server: pop.shaw.ca
Server Type: POP Mail Server (can't change this)
       Security Type: none
Authentication: Normal Password (or Password, transited insecurely)
       Port: 110

    Mail out with authentication server

       Description: Shaw
       Server Name: mail.shaw.ca
       Connection Security: STARTTLS
       Port: 587
       Authentication: Normal Password
Remote Access: We don't have access to this setting but worth
       checking maybe - S/B Enabled

OH! AND you must make sure that his is the DEFAULT Server!

It seems to work so far. I will return if it happens again (like keeping the full thread for others).

I got this error 16 experience on my Macbook. The permissions for the Application Support folder have been changed.

A simple fix Terminal can take care of that.

Open Terminal (you can just tap Terminal in Spotlight to find it).

Copy and paste this command in Terminal: sudo chmod-r 777 library/Application\ Support / Adobe

Press enter, give your password if requested, and then try again. You may need to restart your Mac.

  • I tried to open the "Add Security Exception" tab and get a certificate, but he says that he cannot get the certificate.

Firefox is denying me access to Facebook, as well as my Amazon account, as it is said that he cannot trust the certificate. I tried to do what the forum said, will "Add Security Exception" and paste address FB, but it just says: can not get the certificate. This happened only recently, since I've upgraded to Windows 10. Who would have something to do with it?

It's extremely frustrating, and after using Firefox for many years, I am ready to go to the Chrome or even... Microsoft's new browser.

Hi AdamQK, in case you are an avast user, please try to disable https scanning in avast:

    1. Open the Avast dashboard on an affected system.
    2. Select settings in the left side menu.
    3. Adopt a Protection Active.
    4. Click on customize next to the Web Shield.
    5. Uncheck the option "Enable HTTPS analysis", and then click ok.

  • Confirm the NEW Security Exception error message!

It's becoming routine with Thunderbird. My company uses GMail. Periodically, I get the parade without end of popup confirm Security Exception. It doesn't seem to be what I can do. I tried the various "fixes" posted in other threads without result. Contact your provider? Tried to contact Google AND make your job responsibilities?

I REALLY DO NOT want to use Outlook. Does anyone have an idea?

You use Avast Anti-virus and said to analyze your incoming and outgoing messages (for some reason any).
Since Avast cannot look in the SSL/TLS encrypted to your server sessions, it generates a certificate for the Google Server and tries to sneak in. This is what Thunderbird warns you for good reasons:
Thunderbird can not verify the self-signed certificate Avast. This looks like a man in the middle attack, and in fact it is. Avast is intercepting your connection to the server and connects to the Google Server on your behalf. I hope to have a lot of faith in Avast, I wouldn't be able to analyze all my mail see my Gmail password. And you know what they do with this knowledge?

For example, you can specify either Avast not to analyze your encrypted SSL/TLS traffic, or live with the warning of Thunderbird. There is nothing to 'fixed' in Thunderbird, it works as expected.

  • C stamp on the "Add Exception certificate" warning, what to check to avoid the lack of safety of Thunderbird: "Confirm Security Exception" or "Cancel"?

When the "Add exception certificate" dialog box comes up with the warning "you are about to replace how Thunderbird identifies this site" which is the trunk to check?

I want to stay with Thunderbird security system. Can I check "Confirm Security Exception" or "Cancel"?

Unfortunately, some sites do not properly take their certificates. So basically if you trust the site, you can confirm the exception. If it is an unknown site, or you are not sure about, then cancel. Of course if you do not confirm the exception, you will not be able to see/use the site.

  • Firefox STILL will not let me add a security exception

Firefox STILL doesn't let me add a security exception. This problem has been raised zilions of times.

A partial solution is available here (if I uncheck the box of the permanent exception, it will record.)

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/987476

But I need to do everything twice to pass.

A second solution, i.e. the distance CA as explained here

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/1020629?ESAB=a & As = AAQ

is temporary and does not work when you clear your history (CA is still there).

Can please, please, fix you? It worked very well with just 1 click on "confirm security exception" until 1 year ago. Why complicate things easy?

Hello, please try to reset firefox and see if that can solve the problem: Refresh Firefox – reset the parameters and modules

  • Cannot add security exceptions

I use firefox 32.0.1 on Windows 7 and have a lot of trouble with https - I can not add security exceptions. Problem occurred on an earlier version of firefox as well (finally ask your question to the support from the community after a few months with this problem).

When I visit a problematic site (including several managed by Duke University), I get a message "this connection is untrusted". I click on "I understand the risks", "add exception". But I can't get a certificate or confirm a security exception.

I searched the Forum but have not found a similar problem or solution yet. I have the latest version of firefox and I tried to disable all add-ons.

I've been transitioning to Chrome because these problems started to occur, but I would go back to Firefox. Any thoughts?

The certificate chain shows the intermediate certificate server CA of Internet2 InCommon in your blocked examples

intermediate certificate: InCommon Server CA -> AddTrust External CA Root

You can check the Certificate Manager to see if you can locate the certificate under AddTrust AB and remove it.

Check the date and time and time zone in clock of your computer: (double) click on the clock icon in the Windows taskbar.

Rename the file cert8.db (cert8.db.old) and remove the cert_override.txt file in the Firefox profile folder to remove certificates intermediaries and exceptions that Firefox has stored.

So that has helped solve the problem, you can then delete the renamed file cert8.db.old.
Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the file cert8.db.old to cert8.db to restore intermediary certificates already in memory.
Firefox automatically records the intermediate certificates when you visit Web sites that send such a certificate.

If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.

  • Today my email yahoo via thunderbird refuses to send e-mails due to the security exception box saying yahoo security certificate has expired. What should I do?

It is incidents # 140604-031419. As of this morning I could not send emails to yahoo in Thunderbird. Instead a box of security exception appears, saying: "you are about to replace how Thunderbird identifies this site. Legitimate banks, shops and other sites public would ask you not to do. This site tries to identify with the invalid information. Outdated information. Certificate is not currently in force. It is impossible to check whether this identity has been reported lost or stolen.

After clicking on 'Show', I realized the so-called security smtp.mail.yahoo.com certificate had expired today, 4 June 2014. Is it possible yahoo forgot to renew the certificate (obviously really happened in 2008)?

How can I start sending emails through this account again without compromising safety?

Yahoo has screwed up. It's for you to decide if she is sure to make an exception and send the message anyway or wait until they fix the cert.

You can use webmail to work around the problem, however.

Not that it makes feel you better, but you're not alone.

  • How can I get Firefox to load pages correctly and stop asking me to add to every page I visit as a "security exception"?

I just downloaded the latest version of Firefox today because it is necessary for some of the websites that I need for my course at the college level. However, each unique Web site, I'm going to (even the Mozilla of sites, Google, etc.) says that there is an "untrusted connection". On some sites, I have an option between "get out me of here! ' or add this site especially as a security exception. As you can imagine, it is very time consuming and frustrating. I uninstalled the program (clean uninstall) and reinstalled. I have reset Firefox, and nothing helps. The problem persists, both in Mode without failure. With this question, every website that I managed to get access to is all kinds of messed up. The modules are missing, or the entire page is empty. It can stay there for an hour and nothing loads. I have a good internet connection and a fast processor. I was using Chrome front and Internet Explorer without problem. About two years ago, I used Mozilla Firefox on the same computer and had no problems. I have a 64 bit system, which is the only issue I can think might be causing the problem. I went through and tried to change almost all of the settings, and nothing has helped. I am at my wit's end because I have homework to do and can't because of this problem.

Verify that the date and time on the computer is set correctly.

See also "this connection is untrusted" error message - what to do

If the problem persists after checking the date and time please say what security software you use, because some security software can cause this kind of problem.

  • Why firefox does not accept when I confirm security exception?

I went on this site for many years and now after erasing my history, etc. I can't get in. Firefox said connection is not approved. When I click on confirm security exception, just, it is there and does nothing. Can someone help me? I miss playing on my favorite site!

What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?

Some security software intercepts them secure connections and sends its own certificate.

Some examples are ESET and Bitdefender.

    • ESET setup-> Advanced Configuration-> expand web and email-> SSL shaft
    • SSL protocol: do not scan SSL protocol
    • BitDefender-> privacy-> settings disable SSL Scan
