TEB

Hi guys. I try to use simple BER, controlled by a text button that was created to have a shortcut key (Enter). It works in preview, but not after publication. I did the following.

1. I select the text button

2. I selected the shortcut and enter in the field

3. I uncheck the option "Allow mouse click."

If I then click on the slide, and then the button still once, parameters have not been selected, and no shortcuts selected...

Any help appreciated. Robbie

Your question is not quite clear to me. What is the function of the button text, since the text entry box is already his partner button "submit"? The ETB is an interactive object, has the ability to replace or add th button "submit" a shortcut key, which is by default "Enter". You may now used twice the same hotkey on a slide?

  • How to hide the Submit button in the TEB?

Using Cap 9, with the last update.

I added a 'text area' group to a slide. After validation of the entry, I would like to hide the whole group. I call it a group because you get the field and the Send button.

I can't hide the field because I can give it a name and then refer to it in my Advanced actions. But I can't see the button submit as well, so I can't hide it.

Did I miss something? Is there a work around known for allowing me to hide the Send button and the text input field?

No, it's an object built in, which means that you can not solve, because there is no correct ID. In addition, you can add States either. I tried that as well. Embedded objects are very limited.

I have however a workaround. It depends a bit on the used theme, but the Send button is often a text button. This is my workflow

    1. Because you cannot change the style of a button text, I replaced it with a transparent button.
    2. I did this totally invisible to the user transparent button: fill opacity = 0%, line width = 0 and remove the button caption (label).
    3. I created a text caption or a shape with 'Submit' and dragged under the TEB in the timeline panel. It is not necessary for the output SWF, but it's for HTML output. This text container has an ID and will be visible because the TEB button is completely transparent.
    4. When the user clicks on the button submit, I trigger a successful action that will be:
      1. Hide the text container (Submit)
      2. Mask of the ETB

If you do this several times in a project, you can create a shared action.

  • Show/Submit content of multiple TEB

In a simulation of software, I would like to have a user enter text in a text entry area and enter the text. I want to have the content of this program TEB on the following slides upward as if the user fills out a form and the content of each TEB is reflected on each of the following slides. I have three TEBs. Finally, I want the user to click a button to submit the information as if they have completed the form. I know this requires advanced Actions, but I can't seem to make it work. Can anyone help?

I have moved your question to a new thread, because it was not really related with the initial question in the other thread.

Each TEB has an associated variable that you can insert into a container of text (legend or form) of the next slide. You can set this container of text to display for the rest of the project so that it will appear in all of the following slides. Use the X button in the role of composition of this container of text properties panel to insert the variable. On the following slide, you can do the same thing, it must however be in another container of text. No progress is required so far.

What do you mean by "submit information" when they have finished to fill in all the fields? Mean you post and offer a feedback message? Who will need an advanced conditional action, all the variables of TEB to see if they are correct. This is an old blog post where you can find such an action:

A submit button for multiple text entry boxes? -Captivate Blog

  • Multiple TEBs a Submit button

I followed the post from Lilybiri blog on this topic, but for some reason when I click on the submit button, all entries are marked as incorrect.  Each of the TEBs are set to validate user input, keep the txt, no submit button and no subtitle.

Here is an example of conditional action I have on the submit button: FirstTxt (text entry area) is equal to priority (variable of the text entry area that should be John).  If this is correct, check this option should appear, 1 is added to Acounter, red x should be hidden, bFirst (variable that is equal to 1) is assigned to 0 and FirstTxt is disabled.  If it is incorrect, a red x is displayed. When I enter the correct value a red x appears.

It seems that it is not recognizing that the entry is the same as the variable.  Can someone help me so that the BER can recognize that it is equal to the corresponding variable which contains the entry?

Misunderstanding, perhaps due to my post? It is not the TEB that needs to be renamed, but the associated variable. This is even an old post, but you'll see what I mean

  • [C8] A button to validate several TEBs (quiz)?

    Hi all

I tried to do my research on this one I have seen that there are a lot of posts on this problem, but they do not apply to my situation, or I'm just not understanding.

    My project:

    • Captivate 8
    • A fake-simulation of an excel form, at least one slide for each "worksheet". Basically from bottom of the images of the actual shape with interactions laid on top.
    • Some slides are slides "try me", where the user must fill in the text boxes, choose drop-down lists, etc. (sometimes several of these types of interaction are used on a slide). They can complete these interactions in any order.
    • The slides ' try me ' are the standard blades (no blades Captivate Quiz) but with text input boxes (TEBs), etc., who have the option "validate user input" AND "include in Quiz" checked, so that I can try and track responses or at least one partition on our LMS.

    What I have so far:

I'm starting out with the project, to try to test the limits of Captivate and see what I can and cannot achieve. So I made a "try me" slide with:

    • Three TEBs. Each validated but without individual Submit buttons. The shortcut for each is set to Enter (because I can't find a way to validate when the focus is no longer, and using Tab as a shortcut does not work). For each of them, 'Success' and 'On lost Focus' are set to 'No Action'.
    • There is a text-"submit" button with a tip action to reveal the images of feedback for TEBs all (a tick mark next to a field if it is filled correctly, a red top box containing the correct answer if not); It works very well.
    • A slide action "On Enter" which hides images of your comments, but don't rub the form at all; It works very well.

    Additional feature that I need:

    • A way to make my button to submit also validate the responses on the slide. It is in the case where the learner tablets by the TEBs instead to press 'Enter', each time; at the moment, if you fill the TEBs but paw through them, the Send button gives you the images on the right your comments but the slide Quiz results at the end of the project does not add points to the total of the user; It is always 0.

    Help?

    Thank you!

    E

All quizzes system variables are read-only. If each TEB must be committed, it can be done the way I described in this particular blog post, with a submit button. But you have to accept they snap the BER in a certain sequence, not with three possible workflows.

  • 7 - question of TEB - Captivate

I understand how to create a text box, with notes, failure and success of the cations. I also understand the correct input validation process.

What I need help, is after the user has entered a wrong entry how clear the text box? (basically starting the most with a blank entry TEB)

Nothing has changed in CP8 regarding the display of the ETB control at all. I mentioned that you can do this with text scrolling Interaction. I used it in this example:

Hotspot issues in Captivate 8 - Captivate blog

It would be possible to do what you want with advanced actions and micro-navigation, but he'll change? Their old response will always appear in TEB1 upon returning to her TEB2?

Also very important is to know if you have to report a score? Apparently, it must validate the ETB. But if you use two of TEB, they have both a score.

  • Increase the default text on TEB limit

    Hi all:

I have a text box that contains the default text that should display.  Is it possible to increase this limit on the number of characters displayed in the TEB?

I know I can do a variable for entering text, but this a default text TEB.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

What you describe is more like closed captioning text.  You can do that in Captivate by adding the slide note text, and then by selecting the option on the slide note lines to make this text captioning.  You can time appears at the bottom of the scene of slides synchronized with audio voiceover, in that respect.  There is a CC button on the playback bar that users can click to control or not the CC text appears.

Are you sure that's closer to what you really want?

  • Single button to save the contents of several TEB CP7

I have a slide with nine TEBs on it. I would like a user can enter their responses in each TEB and click on a single submit button to update the associated variables.

Can someone tell me how to do this, because the minute each individual TEB has its own button "submit"?

The project will be published using the release of HTML5.

    Thank you very much.

The characters being typed in BER are immediately written to the variable associated with ETB.  By clicking on the button submit, this is not what updates the variable. It is updated in real time.

By clicking on the button "submit" ETB is usually either validate the text entered, otherwise the execution of an action to go directly to another place.

When you have several TEBs you can disable their individual Submit buttons and just have a normal button on the slide that performs a conditional Action to validate the values of each TEB via decision blocks in conditional action.  If this allows you to validate several TEBS containing a simple conditional action.  There are still some types of validation that cannot perform conditional actions (for example allow UPPERCASE, or allow lowercase letters, etc.) and, if necessary, so you can be better to use the validation options that came with 6.1, but have only been debugged once you have to 7.0.1.

  • Error TEB

I get the following error message when I try to get a glimpse of a TEB slide in Captivate 5.5. "Failure of Swf. check whether one of the actionscript keywords is used as a variable user name." The entrance to the ETB is: [encrypted] when I remove the BER the project publishes ok.

    Anyone know what is happening?

    Thank you brother Aussie.

  • How TEB can remember the input text value?

    Hi all

I wanted to know if there is a way a published course may recall the text that has been typed in BER even after the re-opening of the course.

Simply put: html course Open-> typed in TEB {Hello}-> exit course-> classes-> reopen TEB appears {Hello}.

    Best regards

    Mirza

I don't think there is another way, unless an expert Javascript has a solution.

  • Help please. Enter the name of TEB in order to activate the next button

    Captivate v5.5

I tried and failed to create this which I am sure is very simple.

Using a text entry area, the learner must register its name.

Only after that it will be the NEXT button - which is already visible - become active to take them to the next slide.

The name, they enter into the TEB will be used throughout the project and quiz results slide.

I've been trying to get this to work with Variables and conditional actions, but failed.

Could one of the list of experts kind down the correct steps please?

    NEL

Sorry Noel, was very busy yesterday. Here's a test:

    1. Create a next button, but set to invisible in the PI, his break should be later than the break of the ETB
    2. For ETB, keep the default settings, but no validation; in this case the action of success will always run; Select 'Execute Advanced actions' and open the dialogue-AA
    3. I also created a text caption, set invisible, which will be made visible if the BER remains empty
    4. You need at least a user variable: v_null which is empty, do not put anything as default
    5. I also created my own user variable to associate with the ETB to replace the generic (has the same name as the TEB): v_name

Here are the screenshots of slide + timeline, THEN and the ELSE part of the conditional action advanced that is triggered by the TEB.

  • TEB and click box question (v5.5)

I'm building an interactive simulation of an application.  In the slide, I have a text box and a click box.  The text box simulates the user to enter the search criteria in a field and the simluates of box click the user click on the button Search to perform the search.

On the click box, I put the action on the success to perform advanced Actions.  The tip action checks if the user has entered 'R' in the text box.  If they did, the simulation moves to the next slide.  If they did not, a text caption (Text_Cation_216) displays an error at the bottom of the screen.  When the blade reaches the end of the timeline, it starts a tip Action that rewinds to the second 1 point on the current slide.

My problem is that when I click in the TEB to change the text, the failure to box click Display message.

    textbox-clickbox.png

I read in another post that I could remove the box click on and select the option Show button for ETB.  When I check the section TEB properties options, the View button is checked, but disabled.  Another round proposed placing the BER in a higher layer of the timeline, but that made no difference.

What I'm looking for is a way to display the message of failure for the click box, unless I'm clicking in the ETB.  Not sure if there is one way to do it other than the creation of several slides.

Setting up the text again and this time input field, choose the option to use the button for the ETB.

Then when you have the button visible, replace it with a transparent button, delete the text from the label and place on top of the area where your click box is now.

This should allow you to use the default button for the ETB to trigger the validation of the text and then to see the legend of failure or success for the ETB itself.  You won't need a clickbox.

  • TEB Focus

I don't know that it's easy to do that I'm just missing something, but I can't understand it.

Currently, I have 2 TEBs on a blade and the lower one receives the focus when the slide is displayed. How can I change which TEB receives focus? I would like to as the decoder to receive focus when the blade opens.

    I use Cp 5.0.

    Thanks for your help!

    Dan

    Hi Dan,.

Check the timeline and change the stacking order. It's the BER more top that will allow the update.

  • Widget certificate ignoring the boxes to check and TEBs

I use a certificate widget after a quiz/simulation. My widget certificate marks only the question slides in my quiz. It ignores the boxes click and TEBs which are related and are noted on the results page. If I get a pass on the results page and a failure on the certificate!
Is there a reason for this?
    Thank you

    Hello
Sorry for this question but it's a limitation. The variable we use in the certificate Widget is unable to take the scores of objects like boxes click & TEBs.

  • TEB not created simulation training

I had a similar problem recently. My colleagues and I have the same settings and preferences, but I'm the only one where the ETB is not captured in training mode. I do not understand what it is that is not allowing him to be captured and it is much much too much time to go back and insert a BER for all the shares of text entry.

I tried to clear my cache of Adobe, cache internet, restored all the settings default to Captivate, rebooted the computer several times to ensure that all updates of the company is properly... About to reinstall the program to see if that will solve the problem.

Someone knows how to fix this?

Figured it out! I had waaaaay too many files in the folder of my Temp files in my Windows profile. Once HE allowed, everything worked fine.
