  This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.

  The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.

  WARNING:

  Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved.   Here are the steps to fix it.

  Step 1:

  a. Click Start, click Run, type ""regedit ' in the Open box, and then click OK. "

  b. find the following registry key:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

  c. remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

  Step 2:

  Open Regedit a. once again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point to new, click expandable string value.

  b. type the value name that you want to restore (AppData), and then press ENTER.

  c. right-click on this value, click modify, type the value in the value data for the value name box and then click OK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.

  Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

• Tecra A3: Install Driver Updates

  I have an old tecra a3-101 that I bought here in the Oman.I tried to install new Intel display drivers from the Intel website a week. However, there are some functions which are no longer works after that I did the update:
  1. the right click Desktop does not show the 'Save as', 'Displ; Ay Options","Display Modes"and"Cannot run the Script"are rather instead of those.
  2.i also see a "cannot run the script" tab move the control panel display properties.
  I cancelled since the default driver, but I want to emphasize that there is no untoward effect of my upgrade.

  Like Stefan said there are a lot of differences between desktop computers and laptops. Drivers for laptops are designed by the manufacturer. You can use the driver provided by the producer of the graphics card, but there is no guarantee that it will work properly. Some designed by Toshiba drivers are tested and it should work perfectly.

  I recommend to use original driver because in this case, you can be sure that there should be no problem.

• Why Search KB940157 4.0 will not work on Win XP SP3. In addition, impossible to install any update more.

  I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A30 PSA33E. I update my old BIOS and 1.7 and now I have a problem: I can not install any OS on my PC because it stops whenever I try to install. After 50 tests, I installed a Windows SP2, but my PC turns off always.

  My CPU is at 100% after I launch mozilla so I guess my problem is the BIOS. I try to install v1.8 BIOS and is not working and I get an error (not compatible with the installed BIOS)

  Where can I find the 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 ROM BIOS? Can someone help me please?

  The latest version of the BIOS should not cause this kind of thing. Have reset you the BIOS to its default settings?

  Have you checked the CPU radiator for an accumulation of dust? A can of compressed Air can help remove dust through the vents.

  What was the reason that you updated the BIOS, in the first place? Had previous problems with the system?

  Well, it will install that then it would download 122 updates after installing the windows updates just restart in a loop. If I go into safe mode it will complete step 3, and then restarts loop once again, if I restart and return in safe mode it will remove all updates but does not start in normal mode. Help, please.

  I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

  (a) boot with the Vista DVD / disque disk recovery, select Repair Options , and then select command prompt (no admin password needed that way)

  (b) now type C: (or any directory of your system files are located)

  c) cd windows/winsxs

  d) del pending.xml

  (e) then close and restart the computer.

  I also suggest you to update all the drivers of the computer as well.

  You I have to manually delete the current application to the trash, and then install the new cc in the menu. It worked for me.
