Tecra M9 - no hard drive when installing XP
Hi people,
I've scoured Google, and it is a common problem with SATA drives.
There is an easy way to just change the Bios to IDE, then install XP and restore after.
It's problem... the V1.5 of the ACPI Bios has no options to make this change, or switch to Compatibility Mode (which also corrects the problem... apparently.
I downloaded the BIOS ACPI V2, but the catch is that it won't work back - Windows only.
So I'm stuck in an untenable loop!
Without Windows, I can not change the BIOS-without the BIOS change - no hard drive seen...
Anyone know of a DOS version? Or some other way? Oh, have tried also to install Win98, even Win 95 and then upgrade - but nothing works. Thanking you... Hello From my experience, you cannot use compatibility mode, installing WXP and go again in AHCI mode. Check it out. I was so glad that I found all drivers XP needed for it on Toshiba USA website, however something weird happened when I went to install XP over there.
So, if you round up to about 130 GB, where the other 90 GB's?
In Vista, it reads close to 250 GB, but when installing XP blue screen (once I turn off the AHCI setting in BIOS) it reads at 131 GB. Is this some kind of driver issue? or to issue OS with AHCI?
I tried both in the XP installation CD of nLite, but it does not help.
It still reads GB 131, so now I have no idea what to do, or maybe I have something wrong during the splicing of nLite?
The first partition contains OS preinstalled; Vista
The second partition contains the image of Toshiba HDD and the last third partition is hidden. It s a small partition created by Vista and it contains the backup files. These files can be used if something goes wrong with Vista OS or if Vista needs to be repaired.
