Text input focus and submit button - issue 8 slides-Captivate

Hello

I created a series of short answer to a quiz questions using a pool question I want the questions randomly each time for the learner. How do you define the development of the slide at the entrance area of text (where the cursor is so they can start typing) on a question slide? I also want them to be able to submit the question by pressing enter, do not click on Submit. I know how to do this using a box of text entry in a standard slide, but as I want to be able to get the user to give random issues I need to be in a pool of question. Can someone help me with how to do it?

Either: set focus to an input field text and have it onkeyenter for the Send button

Or: replicate a pool question using standard slides, so I can have random questions generated for users (for example, 5 questions chosen at random from a set of 10).

Edited to add: I'm happy to use advanced actions and java scripts etc if need be

Thank you

JO

You can select the button submit to a question slide and set the ENTER key as a shortcut key.  This will allow to the learner to submit the question slide by pressing the ENTER key.

Captivate does not have the ability to configure short answer question slides in order to put the cursor in the text field when the question slide enters the timeline.

You can add standard slides to a Question Pool.  That the real question slides can be randomized in this way.  Captivate also does not provide by default sort stocks advanced to randomize the navigation to a subset of standard slides.  There may be a way to make the randomization of the navigation of the blade with JavaScript, but I can't help you with that.

  • CP9: Multiple text entry boxes - 1 Submit button

    Hello

I have several text entry areas (TEBs) and send button 1.

    Each TEB I have a:

    • input variable of text from the user - v_teb1 (associated with the ETB).
    • Variable for the correct answer - v_teb1_ans (do this way because I want to reuse the action advanced)

I created an advanced action (assigned to the "submit" button) to check the entry of user against the answers.

So if the answer was 'Home' or 'House' - how can I test for it - create two response variables - "v_teb1_ans_a", "v_teb1_ans_b".

    Is there an easier way?

Also with "Validation of the user" are the "correct entered" used only with 'Success' and display the success, legends of the failure

that is when submit button displayed for each TEB, auto-submit is enabled, the Enter button is used?

    Concerning

    Donal.

    Donal salvation,

This is the problem with the validation of a TEB entry using a tip action, there is no way to disable the distinction uppercase / lowercase. It will be possible if you use JS to change the answer to all the capitals before checking it in.

I do not understand your last question, sorry? Entered correct are used if you post a BER, but in your case the validation is made only after all the TEB were used, right?

    • Created two text input area. (does not work)

    • Created a clickbox. (does not work);

If I have an object on top of the TEB, it must be hidden until I hide the object that s a fact, right?

    Issues related to the:

    1. Are there settings that are the origin of this undesirable behaviour?
    2. Or, is it possible to bypass them? It seems a lot of work to have to rebuild the behavior of quiz!
      1. Problem 1: I could create a custom button 'Next', but I can't see any sort of hook in the submission process to trigger it to be enabled / disabled.
      2. Issues 2 and 4: I could create a custom of 'Submit' button but I don't see what measures to trigger to submit the quiz question.
      3. Problem 3: I do not see boxes click to remove or settings to change, to stop the behavior "click anywhere.
      4. Problem 5: I worked around this by creating my own back for Question 1 only button and hide when they review the quiz.

    Any suggestion would be great!

    Thank you

    Sarah.

    Hi Lilybiri

Thanks for the links to your blog, as always very useful!

I understand the hesitation when seeing convoluted questions on this forum, but I encourage you and others to try to remedy. Otherwise, the forum is pretty useless if it only meets the "simple" questions I tried to unzip the problem so that the expected and actual results were clear.

    I have now overcome problems 1, 2, 3 and 4 as follows:

    • Make the button submit transparent and placed a SmartShape resembling to the button send behind it.
    • Removed the success message, so that the action on the success is called immediately by clicking on Submit
    • Call a tip for the successful event Action. This action:
      • Displays the revision message (success)
      • Hide the submit button
      • Jumps to the next slide and then return to the current slide (this ensures that the buttons next and previous are enabled correctly)
      • Calls a Javascript function to pause the slide.
    • Apply the same to all my slides in question... * sigh *.

I had already worked around 5 problem according to my original post.

Again, I want to express some frustration that there are so many workarounds to get training to watch 100%. For example, in one of your tutorials there is a transparent button and once I knew how the workaround has been applied, I put my mouse over it the space where the button was and saw the hand icon. While if you think that users don't notice, I assure you that when the courses are distributed to a few hundred people these things don't go unnoticed! The effort to build workarounds is worsened by having restrictions on question slides that do not apply to other slides, which for example not being able to add a button and having to use a SmartShape (which does not reuse the button styles), etc. That means trying several solutions workaround until you can find one where all the workaround steps are feasible and you can get a perfect result.

In any case, I'll mark this message as answered and call it a day (I have another question about styling SmartShapes used as buttons but post it separately) =)

    Thank you

    Sarah.

  • 'Forward' and 'Submit' buttons in Quiz confusion

    Hi all

Recently, I created course in Captivate with little Quiz at the end.

And now, I received the comment by the user, but actually not sure how I can solve this problem.

In fact, what he writes, is that he inadvertently used the "Forward" button / the appearance of the player instead of 'submit' to all questions, so in the quiz results, he scored 0%, and that's why to return back and redone the test again once, which was counted as 2 attempts. His question is: is it possible that you can bind these two buttons as well as others don't make the same mistake?

Before the test, I also provided a slide with instructions which, after having chosen the answer user must submit to see the legend as your comments, but to navigate to other slides - next button.

This is why I don't really understand how to adapt my classes to this comment by the user. Because the buttons 'Next' and 'Send' can completely separate functions.

Maybe there is a possibility to freeze the Forward button (don't let don't not to go to the next slide), until the user has not confirmed the answer with the "submit" button?

PS: if I understand it, "You must answer the question before you continue" legend works only when the user click on send selected unanswered.

    Please, suggest...

    Thank you!

I recommend especially to hide the PlayBar during a quiz, just to avoid this kind of problems. You don't say which version are you using? Captivate the 6 and 7 have an option in Quiz preferences to hide the PlayBar during quiz.

In regards to the button 'Next', that points stem to and other features of question slide, take a look on:

  • Issue using 'Next' and 'Back' buttons on a slide.

I have 4 paragraphs I want to display on a single slide. To progress, the player selects the button "next". Each paragraph has a 'Next' and a 'Back' button to allow the reader to go any direction and read or reread the material. Once selected the last button 'Next' button 'Continue' ('Let's Take a Closer Look") is set to appear. The "Continue" button should be the only button that allows the reader to go to the next slide. However, once the buttons 'Next' have been selected several times, the blade continues to work and goes to the next slide. Each button Advanced assigned Actions. I can download these images as well. Because now I downloaded an image of Action Advanced 'Next' button and a 'return' image of the Advanced Action button you can see how I course set up.

    Hello

Have a working example. I created four containers of text T_one, T_Two, T_three, T_Four and grouped in Gr_T.

Created a v_track variable user, with an initial value of 1 (because the first text is visible when starting)

Created Bt_Next (visible) and Bt_Back (initially invisible) buttons with a break point at 1.5 sec (later will be for you if you want to first allows you to hear the audio clip).

Created the Bt_Cont (invisible) button with a break at 2 sec (later than the other two).

    Here is the chronology:

For the next button, created a conditional action advanced with three decisions. Here's the first, which must be the first (logical) decision and when the third legend is visible, v_track = 3:

You can send me a private message with an email address if you want to see the others.

For the previous button, sequence is reversed, here's the first:

  • Signature field and submit button does not

I've recently upgraded to LiveCycle Designer ES2 and problems with certain features.  I created a form with 3 fields of signature and a send button for the final signatory to email on the back of the form.  None of the signature fields works; or not the submit button.  I did everything the same as I had in the previous version of the software.  However, it seems that there are a few changes that I know.  I read about locking objects, but got a little confused.  Can someone tell me (in very lay terms) what I need to do to get these functions work?

I don't see a screenshot. If you have tried to contact by e-mail, that it won't work, you need to use the interface of the forum.

In any case, to enable a document depends on which version of Acrobat you are using:

Acrobat 8: Advanced > enable usage rights in Adobe Reader

Acrobat 9: Advanced > extend features in Adobe Reader

Acrobat 10: File > save as > Reader Extended PDF > activate additional features

Acrobat 11: File > save as other > Reader Extended PDF > activate tools plus (includes filling form & save)

  • Submit button issues

I have various problems with my button "submit" on Acrobat XI using a PC.  I'm trying to publish it on a Web site.  Users can fill in with Chrome, but can't submit - button not responding.  Users must download the form, if you use Firefox.  They can fill it out on this browser.  Also, I put the action to submit to be on the mouse at the entrance.  The continuous form "submit" every time that my mouse scrolls above the button.  Am I missing something?  I'm kinda new to active forms.  Thank you!!

You must use the event mouse up, not mouse enter.

You have configured submit button to send to a web server or if you use a type mailto URL?

  • How to make a slideshow of heroes with the text and the button for each slide?

I'm trying to make a basic slide show (auto no buttons) which will be the width of page 100% and I want each picture to have a title and a status button they can click to access other pages, for the life of me I can't this is! What I am doing wrong?

Indeed I could solve my problem, yay 2 + hours of troubleshooting finally paid off!

I tried the white color text and read 'Check this video now!', but the background was a color of the light, so it is in contradiction with the white text. To remedy this problem, I created a rectangle shape, he made black and reduced the opacity to 40% and threw it behind the text. In order to get the button under the text that says: 'Click here'! I was able to use a copy + paste glitch by sticking the trio in the caption text box for an image, thus allowing me to have a unique caption for each photo in an automatic slideshow. The problem arises due to the notion of a chart of the icon to stay on the text no matter how it is pasted into the text box but I could understand that if you group the text above the rectangle elements before pasting in the text area of the legend, then the text will remain on the chart! Yay problem solved (at least for now)!

  • Submit button issue

I added a button for submitting a form in LiveCycle Designer, and even if I choose 'Save as static pdf', when I hit the button submit, the form that fits on the e-mail is an XML document rather than pdf. Is not it will cause problems if our goal is simply that our recipeints download the form on the Internet, fill it out and send it to us? Aren't docs xml for more sophisticated presentations, online, rather than e-mail?

    Untitled-1 copy.jpg

There is no relationship between the format of the saved PDF form and send. In addition, there are two form objects that can be used for presentation, send Email and button button. The button can be configured to send a PDF, the XDP XML and URL encoded data. You have selected the button send email and is the default behavior for the Send button to attach the XML form to an e-mail.

  • Buttons on quiz on slides and submit

    Hello

I have the clear defect, back, Next buttons and submit on my quiz slides.  My users tend to click the next button instead of the Submit button or click on the "submit" button, and then the next button, thinking they need to click next to continue.  I discovered that in these cases, the results of the quiz are not captured.  I understand that the user must click on Submit and not on the next button in order for the results to be captured. I tried to change this behavior through guidelines, but there are always a few who want to click Next.

I like to keep the buttons back and next, because they are used during the review of quiz.

Do you have any suggestions for me that my instructions by adding to each slide that says "do not click Next in all except if you review the quiz"?

    Thank you
