Buttons on quiz on slides and submit

Hello

I have the clear defect, back, Next buttons and submit on my quiz slides.  My users tend to click the next button instead of the Submit button or click on the "submit" button, and then the next button, thinking they need to click next to continue.  I discovered that in these cases, the results of the quiz are not captured.  I understand that the user must click on Submit and not on the next button in order for the results to be captured. I tried to change this behavior through guidelines, but there are always a few who want to click Next.

I like to keep the buttons back and next, because they are used during the review of quiz.

Do you have any suggestions for me that my instructions by adding to each slide that says "do not click Next in all except if you review the quiz"?

Thank you

Sarah

Little weird that you marked your own comment as a "good answer".

    Hello world

Thank you all for your expertise and time that you take to share.

I have two issues with the quiz of reviews on some of my module.  I, literally, spent around 5 hours looking for answers.  My boss will be Livid if I have nothing to show for it.

    Question #1

    (1) after my user passes the test, we want to examine their responses.

    (2) * to review *, if they got a wrong answer we want that they click on a link between the blade and the part of the slide deck that has talked about this.

Everything I have read/tried - I don't see a way to put such information on the slide without showing to/on the original quiz.

    What I want to do?

    Question #2

During the revisions quiz part-there is no browse button.  I read in another post that this is due to not having the buttons 'next' or 'Skip' but my Client does not want one of those on the slide.  We had to push back just to keep the back on the movie skin button.

During the revision Quiz part, how can we sail (before, at least)?

    Thanks again!

    Eric

Question # 1: You can get around this via advanced Actions and using the static button widget that comes with Captivate 5.  But it will greatly increase the complexity of your project.  If you want to go this route, here's how it's done:

    • You must create a user Variable to track the Correct/Incorrect State of each question on the questionnaire.  Call them Question1Status, Question2Status, etc. these variables must be paid by actions on the success and failure of each Quiz Question slide.  Each will have at least three possible values: NotAnswered, Correct, Incorrect
    • You cannot add a normal Captivate to a slide of questionnaire button because the interactive objects are not allowed.  But you can add the static button of the Captivate Gallery widget and that widget can be defined to point to any slide.  Add one of these widgets to each quiz question slide and set it to go to the relevant slide in the main content that provides the information tested by the quiz question.  Set this button widget to be hidden by unchecking the box Visible.  It will be shown by the tip then described Action.
    • You will also need to have a conditional Action advanced for each question that is used on slide enter to check the value of the first variable mentioned above.  The fast Action will do something like this: If Question1Status is Incorrect, show widget button X.  (Each widget button will have a name of the element.)  This will allow your users to click on the button widget and directly access relevant content if they don't have this issue.  The widget button does not appear if they went from the question.

Question #2: If your customer does not want back or buttons depending on the main slide area during the review, the only way your user will be able to navigate is via the buttons back and forward of the PlayBar.  If your customer wants to remove those as well, the learner have no means to navigate other than TOC buttons.  The PlayBar buttons would be my vote.

I actually use a couple of widgets to help navigation in view of quiz.  I have a widget which hides the next (Skip) button during the test and another that hides the buttons Clear and submit during a Quiz.  These widgets have been created by Vikram, one of the Adobe Captivate development team.

  • Text input focus and submit button - issue 8 slides-Captivate

    Hello

I created a series of short answer to a quiz questions using a pool question I want the questions randomly each time for the learner. How do you define the development of the slide at the entrance area of text (where the cursor is so they can start typing) on a question slide? I also want them to be able to submit the question by pressing enter, do not click on Submit. I know how to do this using a box of text entry in a standard slide, but as I want to be able to get the user to give random issues I need to be in a pool of question. Can someone help me with how to do it?

Either: set focus to an input field text and have it onkeyenter for the Send button

Or: replicate a pool question using standard slides, so I can have random questions generated for users (for example, 5 questions chosen at random from a set of 10).

Edited to add: I'm happy to use advanced actions and java scripts etc if need be

    Thank you

    JO

You can select the button submit to a question slide and set the ENTER key as a shortcut key.  This will allow to the learner to submit the question slide by pressing the ENTER key.

Captivate does not have the ability to configure short answer question slides in order to put the cursor in the text field when the question slide enters the timeline.

You can add standard slides to a Question Pool.  That the real question slides can be randomized in this way.  Captivate also does not provide by default sort stocks advanced to randomize the navigation to a subset of standard slides.  There may be a way to make the randomization of the navigation of the blade with JavaScript, but I can't help you with that.

    Issues related to the:

    1. Are there settings that are the origin of this undesirable behaviour?
    2. Or, is it possible to bypass them? It seems a lot of work to have to rebuild the behavior of quiz!
      1. Problem 1: I could create a custom button 'Next', but I can't see any sort of hook in the submission process to trigger it to be enabled / disabled.
      2. Issues 2 and 4: I could create a custom of 'Submit' button but I don't see what measures to trigger to submit the quiz question.
      3. Problem 3: I do not see boxes click to remove or settings to change, to stop the behavior "click anywhere.
      4. Problem 5: I worked around this by creating my own back for Question 1 only button and hide when they review the quiz.

    Any suggestion would be great!

    Thank you

    Sarah.

    Hi Lilybiri

Thanks for the links to your blog, as always very useful!

I understand the hesitation when seeing convoluted questions on this forum, but I encourage you and others to try to remedy. Otherwise, the forum is pretty useless if it only meets the "simple" questions I tried to unzip the problem so that the expected and actual results were clear.

    I have now overcome problems 1, 2, 3 and 4 as follows:

    • Make the button submit transparent and placed a SmartShape resembling to the button send behind it.
    • Removed the success message, so that the action on the success is called immediately by clicking on Submit
    • Call a tip for the successful event Action. This action:
      • Displays the revision message (success)
      • Hide the submit button
      • Jumps to the next slide and then return to the current slide (this ensures that the buttons next and previous are enabled correctly)
      • Calls a Javascript function to pause the slide.
    • Apply the same to all my slides in question... * sigh *.

I had already worked around 5 problem according to my original post.

Again, I want to express some frustration that there are so many workarounds to get training to watch 100%. For example, in one of your tutorials there is a transparent button and once I knew how the workaround has been applied, I put my mouse over it the space where the button was and saw the hand icon. While if you think that users don't notice, I assure you that when the courses are distributed to a few hundred people these things don't go unnoticed! The effort to build workarounds is worsened by having restrictions on question slides that do not apply to other slides, which for example not being able to add a button and having to use a SmartShape (which does not reuse the button styles), etc. That means trying several solutions workaround until you can find one where all the workaround steps are feasible and you can get a perfect result.

In any case, I'll mark this message as answered and call it a day (I have another question about styling SmartShapes used as buttons but post it separately) =)

    Thank you

    Sarah.

  • The Quiz, the Quiz on revision and the button "next".

Sought and did not quite find all solutions to a topical issue that I found just that... troubleshooting classes something not at all related.

In any case, here's what I have:

    • Quiz slides do not contain the button 'next' or 'back '.  Only the 'clear' and 'submit' buttons are activated
    • The quiz requires a minimum pass mark.  A failure, the "quiz of recovery" button, button "review quiz" and the button "continue" are displayed
    • By clicking on the 'resume quiz' button works as expected with zero problems
    • By clicking on the "review quiz" button works as expected with the learner to the first slide of quiz

Here's the question.  With the 'next' button disabled on the slide of questionnaire, the learner is not able to advance after the first slide of quiz, so to get stuck and have to go out the window.  Not sure if I'm missing something.  I did a lot of quizzes with a required pass mark and have not had this problem in the past.  Is it possible to have the 'next' button disabled on the slide of questionnaire but enabled for the revision of the quiz slide?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Go to the display of the slide master and find the master slide for each particular type of quiz slide.  Select the button Delete in the master slide and you should find that the toolbar alignment options become active, allowing you to bring to the top of the stacking order.

When you return to the display of the slide, normal, is the clear button now on top?

  • How can I place windows pop up on top of Quiz slide and hide the contents of the quiz?

I am currently working on a project where the quiz questions are applicable. Cases are too long to fit as ordinary text captions in quiz slides. They will be presented as audio, but I want to give users the ability to view cases in the form of text as well. The problem is that the content of quiz insists to stay on top, no matter what I put on top of it. What should do?

Can search you on my blog "Buttons on question slides", sorry not of

being able to give a direct link.

I found that putting objects on the slide before the question slide and adjusti

  • Captivate 8 button Retake Quiz - return to the slide of the wrong question

    Hello

I have not yet fixed my problem of button retake quiz. I have a project with several questions of practices not classified (hot spot, drag n drop, 2 several multiple choice answers) followed by 9 questions 'real' test. I want students to return 'true' test questions when they click on the recovery test button. Now, the recovery quiz button brings back me to the first multiple choice question in the practical section - not the first 'real' test question.

In the Interactions for the first multiple choice question (and the 2nd as well), I see that nothing appears in the neck to include in the questionnaire and responses report = no, but an entry appears in Objective ID and ID of Interaction. I don't see this credential anywhere in the QUIZ tab - I wonder if this is what pushed the button quiz in this slide.

    AdvInteractionShot.png

    Attempt to correct:

I saw the response of Lilybiri to "Captivate 8 resume Quiz" entry. It seemed like the perfect solution to my problem. So I created an Action conditional Advanced:

If cpQuizInfoAttempts is greater than 1 go to (1 'real' test slide #) continue on the other

The 'real' 1 slide test I put this conditional action on enter.

It did not work. Please help me determine what I am doing wrong and how to fix this quiz of recovery. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I'm getting desperate!

    Smiles

    Susann

You must have read my response wrong. Condition is OK, but you have to trigger on enter for the first issue of practice, not on the first slide of the real issue. As the recovery button will take the user to the first practical question slide, this action will be evaluated and the jump to the first slide of the real question occur. Assumed, here are that all the slides in practice before all the question slides.

  • Custom messages of success and failure on quiz results slide

I'm trying to create a custom message of success and failure on the quiz results slide, using certain colors in the text caption to reflect the brand of our company. I've added a tip action entering the slide, so that if the percentage of quiz is 80% or more, shows message of success and failure message leathers. It seems like it should work, but for some reason, only the fault message views, no matter if I fail or pass. Anyone tried this with any success?

    Thanks for your help!

This button is very important: clicking on it will launch the actions that you define in Quiz preferences, success/failure. Think that it is also mentioned in my blog, when I talk about the score slide. Maybe that you were lucky, but I especially advice to add a line short slide after this slide score, certainly everything is transferred correctly, especially when launched by LMS and many users will do the test at the same time (I have used in a college for some exams). In this case you can set the actions of pass/fail on the issue level «Go to next page»

This thread is marked still unanswered, so I guess it isn't completely resolved?

  • Quiz Skip button switch to another slide that isn't the next slide.

Is it possible to make the button Skip Quiz jump to another slide outside the next slide? I use 7 Captivate.

Basically I want the quiz slide to return to another slide that isn't the next slide.

The default test buttons are not configurable. You can leave the default button of the workspace, insert an identical Skip button using n smartshape which places and set the action.

  • CP6 - need to add an audio button on quiz slides to "read aloud the question."

CP6 - need to add an audio button on quiz slides to "read aloud the question." Most of our target audience is younger (grade 1-5) and provide more accurate results, if each question is 'read' for them. Of course there are big players in the Pack, but the option should be available to listen to the question and not have to read it. Therefore, there is a button to trigger the audio on every issue. Ideas?

You don't need a button. Just add a legend of the question bearing slides a sound add you the portion of the legend. You can hide the legend by making it transparent.

  • Displays a button on the quiz results slide

Use 6 Captivate, I show a "print" on the quiz results slide key only if the user passes the quiz. I tried setting the action in the Quiz > success or failure of the settings to display the button (with a tip action) passed the test but still no luck. On the results for the "print" key slide, I disabled the 'Visible output. Any ideas?

You can download a complete list with the system variables of: System variables in Captivate 8 - Captivate blog

The variable system quiz, you will need to use a conditional action is cpQuizInfoPassFail, which is a Boolean value, cannot have two values 1 or 0 (failure) (past).

Use the event to enter the Score slide to trigger a conditional, tip action

IF cpQuizInfoPassFail is equal to 1

  • Personalized and customized quiz feedback slide menu slide

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction as to how I can use Advanced Actions/Variables to produce two things, a slide in menu that displays a check when an article is complete and feedback simple quiz slide that displays a summary of the issues with correct/incorrect.

    Slide Menu

I am trying to build a menu so that the learner can go into any unit in any order. When they finish the slides in this unit, they are returned to the Menu slide and a checkmark against that unit. There is an example below to give you the idea.

    menu.png

    Quiz feedback Slide

I also try to create quiz feedback slide to allow learners to know what questions they got wrong in a quiz. I don't want to use the revision Quiz feature like that shows me the wrong answers and questions. I would like to just a summary slide, as in the example below.

    quiz.png

For the course menu, I use some useful posts of Lilybiri and try to adjust his tutorial on dishes customized to the http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/855/cpsid_85530.html to show ticks instead of hide links of the unit. I don't know where to start with the feedback of quiz slide.

I hope that someone with a little more experience stocks advanced/variables will be able to intervene here and let me know if I'm going in the right direction with this.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Loraine

    Hello

I thought that my blog post on the menu template was doing all what you want with the menu.

Need more time to explain about your second question later.

Previous! For the slide of Feedback, you need to maintain for each answer, if he had answered correctly or incorrectly, each in a user variable. To this effect, you could use cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored.Create action upon entering the next the question slide and stores its value in a user variable (because the system variable will change after each question), it will contain the value 0 (incorrect), or something different (correct). ATTENTION: you need to repeat this action also after the last question, perhaps by inserting a short blade just before the slide where you want to display the result. Entering into this 'result' slide, which must contain the correct and incorrect checkmars, in hidden state, you can trigger another advanced conditional action that checks each of these user variables and makes the symbol not visible. You get the idea? Need more help?

  • CP5: Rating and Quiz result slides for selected Questions

    Hello world

I am trying to create a course that has several "knowledge checks" that need not be striped or track, then a 10 question at the end quiz that must be marked and tracked.

Someone does know of a way to separate these two elements so that the slide Quiz results do not cover my data 'check knowledge' and gives just the details of the user of the 10 question quiz? I would also use the progress bar, but only for the last 10 questions.

Moreover, if the result of the quiz screen separated the results of controls knowledge quiz, which would work as well.

    Thank you
    Graham

    Hello

If you are using the Question slides that come with Captivate, all slides will be added to the total score because you can have than a Quiz in a CP-file.

Some ideas: you can assign to the partition of the first (not to follow) slides to 0, or if possible change issues marked the investigation (no is not marked).

If by progress, you mean the indication ' Question X of Y ", there, you'll need to do your own counters, with variables user and advanced actions. If you want to have total control of your question slides, that you can create the first group issues yourself and use only default to the last real Quiz Question slides. Just published a blog post today with a few links to articles on customizing quizzes. Feel free to check it out:
