The Bios Reprogramming?

Hi, new to this forum.

I have a laptop HP HDX18-1010ea. When starting, it gives a message "serial number not found. Loads of calculation as normal upward and I am able to do everything outside of the connection to the internet. I did a factory reset and updated the bios, but to no avail. Still no serial number in the bios. This computer is unchanged again and was working well. It is only 2 years old and I'm empty. Any help would be appreciated.

While you weren't looking Gremlins changed your motherboard. The information HP 'Tattoos' in the BIOS of a computer HP to prevent software piracy is now missing from the BIOS of your computer. A very good description on DMI can be found here:http://www.pctechbytes.com/hp/hp-hard-drive-dmi-motherboard-tattoo/ one of the best articles I've seen how to tattoo DMI has been posted by Stephenwolfe313. The article he posted on the internet on this subject is:

For the tattoo one machine HP or Compaq , you will need to get an ISO called DMI Utility and burn it to a cd and boot to it. This can be obtained either from a technicians HP download site or authorized technicians contracting site of companies as a lawyer Global Barrister Global Services technicians. Global Services lawyer | Lawyer Global Services network. If you sign up as a technology, you will be able to get the necessary software via transfer we site. Here's the tattoo how to guide:

What should do? For the tattoo, you must go to the transfer site, look under "Drivers" and then under "Images" and get the "CPC_DMI", "HDD_DMI" and «BIOSUPDATE» .iso files Burn these three separate drives. Make sure you burn them as .iso files. Then, before going to the site, check and make sure they are all bootable. Failure to have records of on-site work will result in no compensation for your trip! Almost all of the necessary information for the tattoo are on the bottom of the unit and on the sticker with the model/series/product number.
How to tattoo: first, go into the bios and look for the revision number. It should be v5, v6 or v7.
BIOS Version 5 o
Organic V5 require the CPC_DMI. The CPC_DMI is quite simple.
1. Insert the CPC_DMI drive and boot to it.
2. to the Z: prompt, just type in "CPC_DMI", this will launch the CPC_DMI utility.
3. the utility simply ask for each channel of information necessary to the unit, everything as it is not on the merits of the case, starting by build ID. Once all the strings are entered, it invites you to write data or to quit, and simply in writing data and waiting for the utility, complete and return to the Z prompt, you have successfully tattooed mother Board of the unit.
BIOS Version 6 o
Bios V6 does not require the CPC_DMI disk and can be run simply by using the utility of tattoo in the bios. The BIOSUPDATE disc is a must on bios v6 as it's the only thing that can erase some of the data listed in bios v6 DMI strings.
1. for the tattoo bios v6, one simply enters the 'Advanced Bios"by pressing Ctrl + F10 to start instead of simply the F10 screen (which takes the standard BIOS).
2 from there just choose the "System ID" option. It is under the date and time.
3. just as a v5 bios, enter the data in the appropriate fields. An important note is that the 'system SKU' is 'product number' of the unit and the name of 'product' is the 'model number' in the bios v6 and beyond.
4. If for any reason, you find you unable to change the featurebyte of the unit, or it is incorrect, to reset one must simply run the bios update utility and choose "update and clear DMI. This will clear all of the fields and allow you to type correctly in the featurebyte.
BIOS Version 7 o
V7 bios require the BIOSUPDATE drive for the same reason that the v6.
1. start by pressing the ESC key, a start unit upward to access the start menu.
2 once in the boot menu, you can access the bios by pressing "F10".
3 once in the bios, press on "Ctrl + A", and then selecting the Security tab.

  • How Flash the BIOS if you cannot start Windows

    Hello

I have a BIOS virus which prevents ANY version of any operating system Windows to boot at all.

(Linux will start and run fine)

So, to solve this problem, I need re-flashing the BIOS.

Problem is... HP offers only the BIOS as an executable Windows utility.

Can someone help me figure out a way to Flash the BIOS WITHOUT Windows?

    THX

Now, in response to this topic, I discovered a solution...

    HPBIOSFILE.exe - writeromfile /-writehexfile /-writehdrfile

I hope this helps some of you.

    To use this...

    (1) download the executable file (.exe) for BIOS update for your motherboard

    (2) a copy of the program flashing of Award Bios BACK (Google it, easy to find)

    (3) obtain a downloadable copy of the BACK 6.22 (of Microsoft) and create files to start this one.  (possibly another computer to do this).

    (4) start your computer affected in BACK 6.22

    (a) copy the files in a directory

"(b) using the bold line above... type the name of your BIOS instead of the HPBIOSFILE.exe file ' and run the command.

You will find yourself with a ROM file, a BIN file and a header file.

You can now re-Flash your BIOS on your HP computer outside of a Windows environment.

  • Jet 7 Tablet 5709: HP Jet 7 touch screen does not work in Windows even if it works in the BIOS menu advanced starup

Less than two months ago, I upgraded my HP Jet Windows 7 to 10. Over time some questions popped up (random apps that could not be opened, etc.) so I decided to do a full reset, deleting the files from the user. Once the 'install' process is complete he brought me to the initial configuration for Windows 10 screen, asking me my keyboard and language preference. He would not accept any contact entry. I rebooted it and he went to the advanced configuration where I could use the touch screen to do a complete reset. That has not changed anything. I found the info on the HP website and did a reset of the BIOS. That has not changed anything. I got an OTG cable, but was not able to get a keyboard work. I did, however, get a mouse works and has managed to create a new user and login. However, the touchscreen does not work in Windows. I was able to get into the settings and looked at the Device Manager settings. There was only a mouse driver listed under Human Interface. I also noticed a number of question marks in the subtopic of the processor drivers.

I was able to use the OTG cable to try to re - install Windows 10 from a USB key. When a similar initial settings (language, keyboard) screen broke, I couldn't use the touchscreen. Later, I created a USB with Windows 8.1 thinking he might have a better chance. The same problem. He does not touch inputs. And with a key USB installed via the OTG cable, I can't launch a mouse at the same time.

It is strange that I have not the problem in the BIOS or advanced startup options. It seems that there is a corruption somewhere, but how do I fix?

    Hello Moronihah,

You did a clean install (delete all files and programs) the 2nd time you reinstalled Windows 10?

That's what you need to do first.

Then, you have to go to the HP website and install the drivers on your USB.

Above all, you need to include the Goodix Touch Controller Driver and pilot, allowing Malta G-Sensor.

    HP Software and Driver Downloads

You're using a hub 4 ports with your OTG cable? Which will allow you to use the mouse, the keyboard and the entire USB drive.

    AZ_scuba_dude, welcome to the forum.

There is no update software/BIOS for Win7 for the computer.  It is unlikely that there will be a developed.  However, there is a BIOS update for XP.  You will need to do a system restore to the original configuration that includes XP.  Once this operation is complete, you can update the BIOS to version: 3.19.  You can do the update using the executable file (sp35100.exe). Although she did not mention anything about what makes the upgrade of the processor.  Here are the Specifications of the motherboard of the computer.  In the processor upgrade information section, it lists the updates that supports HP.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or not.

  • Configuration of the BIOS XW8600 for SSD and HDD

Until recently, my xw8600 has been configured with the emulation of SATA under storage on the separate IDE controller Options.  250 GB hard drives connected to the SATA 1 and SATA ports 0 and readers of DVD RW Drive connected to 2 SATA and SATA 3 ports.

I wanted to install a GTX240 Neutron Corsair SSD, but discovered when I changed the SATA RAID + DCIS emulation (to activate all 5 ports of SATA controller and optimize the performance of the SSD), the system could not find the boot drive.  I checked the startup command settings and found the slot drive HARD listed title module of memory into the attached USB printer HP Officejet 7500 a first and could not be changed.

I decided to go back to SATA IDE emulation separate, remove the optical drive on SATA 2 port and attach the SSD it.  This facility is expected to start successfully; but after installing windows 7 x 64 on the SSD (Windows XP, x 64, still on the HARD drive), I found Windows 7 has been very very slow.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or comments on how I can improve this situation?

Thanks for any help, you can suggest.

What is an installation of Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit of a retail installation DVD purchase, or something HP?  If I remember well Vista 64 was the latest HP OS with sold.  In this case you won't have to deal with a set of HP restore disks.  I would never do an "upgrade" of a prior installation of OS in W7.  I only do not clean install W7 on a freshly long-type reformatted hard drive or an SSD.  I buy my "system builder" OEM license W7Pro 64 - bit DVD/COA from newegg.com (you can find that many sources and approximately 140.00 each).

Plan to do a clean install on this SSD from scratch and when you format before that settle does long formatting version, while it is booted from the W7 DVD.  That will take some time.  Or, if you have a functioning before the OS install on a hard drive, you can restore the xw8600 you can connect the SSD in the second or third SATA port and reformat (long version) management of records like this.

The boot drive or SSD, Spinner, must always be connected to the primary SATA port, which in these workstations, is usually blue plastic, while the rest are a dark black.

Make sure that your BIOS is later... There was a version for this and the xw6600 with a few months ago.  It is an important.

Put the SSD in your favorite mount, hang it in the main SATA port, prepare the W7 DVD in the DVD drive (which should be attached to the second port SATA or IDE cable if it's a DVD ATA drive). Throwing xw8600, go straight into the BIOS and go to which you can change the SATA emulation.  Change that on "RAID + AHCI.  Save on the way out of the BIOS, and the workstation will now reboot usually requiring formal approval of the change F1.

Demarrer start on the DVD, select clean install and things will be fine.  I usually set my boot order to start hard drive/SSD first and second optical drive.  Then, when I load an OS I just use the F9 key during the early start to switch to the DVD player for this single event.

It's the key information: If you have correctly set to "RAID + AHCI" SATA emulation for the W7 installation process, then the appropriate drivers will not be loaded from the DVD on the startup disk, and you won't receive anywhere near your expected speed.  I helped a friend who had done exactly what you did, and when we corrected things literally double SSD performance scores.  I recommend that the reformatting/clean reinstall from zero here, because you want to really perfect the basics and the way he was treated initially can leave you with a few important questions.

After you have things working with the SSD and the DVD player you can add in your other material sequentially.  I would like to make a reboot between each addition, just be very careful.  Some old HP DVD drives have a problem with W764 loading during the emulation of the SATA BIOS is set correctly and there is a solution for this, but you don't want from now this info.

All the advice I have written in this forum about the xw6400 installs apply to the xw6600 and xw8600, including information on the upgrades of the processor.

  • Change language of the BIOS of HP Z420 PC workstation

    Hello members,

I use a HP Z420 workstation PC. I bought this by a French seller, the BIOS menu is in French. It is anyway to change the bios to English language?

    03.85 BIOS version
    American Megatrends V.2.15.1229

P.S. This thread has been moved from workstations - w series, series z, xw and inherited management of Client PC HP x series. -Hp moderator of the Forum

Go to HP.com, click on Support, download the drivers.  Put in Z420 in the product name, then select the workstation Z420.   This will bring up the page drivers.  Select the version of your operating system.  (This is the usual place to find drivers)

Under "Software - management system" down load the utility BIOS Configuration (BCU) (International).  This tool will create a text dump of your BIOS settings file.  We can change this file, and then use the changed file to update the BIOS settings.

In this file, there is a section for the "install language", with several languages listed below.  The language with the * in front of it is the one that is turned on.  In your case, remove it * before French and add it * before English.  Then follow the instructions on how to use this file to update your BIOS settings.

  • Update the BIOS F.61

I received an alert of Routine HP indicating that there is an update of the BIOS available F.61 to select ProBooks.  My ProBook s 4525 was in the included list.  The details, said the upgrade "improved safety UEFI EDK2" and "HP highly recommends the transition to this BIOS version update."

When I clicked on the link for my laptop selected my OS (Windows 7 Pro 32), then clicked on BIOS, it showed was F.60 Rev.A, 30 November 2015.

Where can I find the BIOS F.61?

    Thank you

Thanks webber60 and SgtSQL - it's good to know I'm not the only one.

I'm disappointed HP has not responded to this, to say the Routine original email alert erred, or answer the question where upgrade the correct BIOS could be found, or to ask us to wait so that it can be displayed.

I just followed the link in the alert Routine again, by clicking through the many pages and found that there is a new update of the BIOS available; not the F.61 mentioned, but F.62 Rev.A, dated 3 June 2016.  I got without further notice from HP; I just went and looked again.

There are other questions about upgrades to the BIOS on the forum, with answers from HP generally recommend not upgrading unless it's to solve a specific problem.  In this case, I'm going to upgrde to the new BIOS Rev.A F.62 due strong recommendation of the Routine alert mentioning the improvement of safety.

Thanks to HP for the BIOS update available

  • HP Pavilion dv4-1120br: doubts about the BIOS update for my model with the operating system current instaled.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1120br, I know that this model of HP laptop is old, but I instaled the 64 bit of Windows 10 on my machine and saw that my BIOS is version F.30 and the last of them available on the site of HP F.66 has.

The problem is that this model is not suport for Windows 10 because, as I said, is too old. Can I download and run the update of the BIOS for Windows 7 64-bit available in the Web site, or I need to downgrade my OS to Windows 7, update the BIOS and then pass it back to Windows 10?

    Thanks for the help!

    Cantarino

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

Your second proposal is correct - as the updates to the BIOS on the HP site are specific to the OS version and if you try to run one for Win7 in Win10, it will refuse to run.
