The cold on windows Server backup

Hi all;

OS: Windows
DB: 10.2.0.3

I'm trying to schedule a backup to cold, I was wondering if I can just oracle database service down and then directly copy files by using the copy command, and after completion of the copy of the files I will until oracle services.
Will this method work, I can't test the same thing that I do have access to the server right now.

Kind regards
Sphinx

Yes, you can, by default, the service will run an IMMEDIATE STOP. To do this, look at named something like registry keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb12c_home1\ORA_ORCL_SHUTDOWN

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb12c_home1\ORA_ORCL_SHUTDOWNTYPE

and you will see the settings.

Is this cold backup and sufficient archives, for the exact replica of primary education

You can recover up to cancel if something happened.

Do I have to take the backup of the primary database as cold before the primary.

always always take backup before any operation.

  • Cannot initialize the Windows Server backup on Server 2008 R2

    Hello

I searched around for a bit now to try to find a solution to my mistake, but so far have turned up empty-handed.

Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2

    Objective:
To obtain Windows Server Backup works then I can start my server backups.

    Problem 1:
When you try to start Windows Server Backup through Server Manager interface, I'm greeted with the following error:

A fatal error occurred during an operation of the snap-in (wbadmin.msc) Windows Server backup.
    Error details: Server execution failed

Close wbadmin.msc and then restart it.

Outcome 1: Looking Me wbadmin Gets the #2 problem...

    Problem 2:
Apparently, block level backup engine server was not active.  When you try to start the block level backup engine Service, I get this:

Windows could not start the service block level Backup Engine Server on the Local computer.
0x800700b7 error: cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Outcome 2: No idea where to go from here.

    Problem 3:
Open the cmd prompt as administrator, I type in what follows to see what I get: net start wbengine

    And get...

The block level backup engine Service service starts.
Block level backup engine Service service could not be started.

    A system error has occurred.

    183 system error has occurred.

Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Result 3: No idea how this started.

So, I find myself thinking about the following: block level Backup Engine Server must be running in order for wbadmin work properly.  However, as I can't start the WBEngine, it is here where I am currently.

If someone has an idea or could tell me what I should do to get this working, it would be greatly appreciated.  I can give more information if necessary.

    Thank you.

  • How Windows Server backup and command-line tools are used in the installation of vCSHB?

How the Windows Server backup and command-line tools are used during the installation of vCSHB?  It takes in all types of deployments (PtoV, VtoV, PtoP)? It is used to create files that are put in file sharing for the second node to use during the installation of vCSHB or is it only used during a clone of vCSHB of a physical to physical deployment operation?  These tools are not used in some deployments?

You need backup Windows Server installed on the source and destination, and during the installation of vCSHB the installer will call the wbadmin (Windows Server Backup Utility) and will save the configuration and application data (application data is optimal, but can reduce the synchronization time after the installation of the secondary node). On the secondary node you will should only run the vCSHB Installer and everything will be restored.

Check this blog entry for some info on P2P deployment issues: http://www.vcoportal.de/2013/12/vmware-vcenter-server-heartbeat-restore-on-a-second-node-a-journey/

  • copy of the mac to windows server data

    Hi all

My apologies in advance if this ended up in the wrong section of the forum, hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

I work for a company that currently stores its files on an OS X journaled NAS device, connected to a Mac Mini via the lightning cable and the mac connects to the network via ethernet.

We are planning a migration of large data (~ 18 TB) from a NAS device mac to format, on a Windows Server (like using NetApp storage solution / VM datastore)

I wonder what could be the best application to manage the data transfer? In Windows environments, I used Robocopy or FTP and love it, but not really know on the side of Mac of things when it comes to data migrations.

We have a paid version of ChronoSync we use to run our nightly backups to other NAS material - I see that this has developed in a few searches on Google.

2 other products that pop up in my research are arRsync and SuperDuper - can someone comment or recommend these products?

That's what I look for in an application to manage the transfer:

-support to copy the attributes of file from the MAC world to Windows

-support the recovery if the transfer fails / break

-being able to provide a significant peace of mind summary when the transfer is complete (sort of like ChronoSyncs connect)

-GUI based and have a nice interface

-Be reliable to transfer large date - currently about 18 ~ TB

Looking forward to hearing your comments, no doubt let me know things that I have to take into consideration during the planning phase or "traps".

    Matt

So I'm going to bite and offers some advice.  Summer by this much (sigh).

First of all, some of the things to watch for:

1: naming.  Mac users in storage Mac can use any character that they want: and.  For example, my.file! @# $> That's so important # $123. .    can be a file name.  Cannot * REALLY IMPORTANT FILE!  Yes, there are spaces in the and at the end.  Yes, this will make panic window.  You need to do a review of the names of files and folders before you try to migrate.  Search for files that begin and end with the space character.  Beware reserved characters in Windows.  Clean your name prior to migration.  For more information, see here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa365247(v=vs.85).aspx

2: maximum length of the path.  Yes.  In this day of unicode several parts of Windows can only manage a path of the file system maximum of 256 characters.  See the link above.  If you arrive by a system of support for paths longer (like OS X and * nix operating systems) that you want to review the length of your paths.  Test, test and test again with all of your tools, including your backup software.  Make sure he can see both paths that exceed the API limit and also it is able to restore data in ways that exceed the length.

3: SMB is always a nightmare.  Numeral ID of file crawling, to slow down the reading of the directory, to Hung Finder.  Your version of Mac OS will have degrees of success.   10.8 was a mess with DFS.  10.9 was a wreck of train with Windows cluster servers.   10.10 has huge issues with ID of file enumeration and periodic deadlock.  Yet once, test in your environment.  Get comfortable with the nsmb.conf file.

4: do not leave your sleep of Macs.  Reconnect the AFP inactive supports.  To connect to a server, let mac sleep, wake can renegotiate the connection with the server (generally) volume.  SMB does not.  If your Mac to sleep with documents open on the part of the SMB, you are in a world of pain.

5: Be prepared to not be able to find anything.  Research on the shared Windows resources has been a frustrating situation.  You will have taken in charge of Spotlight from the server so that you can use a directory to search like Find Any File trawling or be ready to manage Spotlight index on each workstation and hope for the best.

Regarding the methods to get the data from one place to another, you must realize that there is a time constraint.  Using a 4 GB/min of transfer GigE, assuming that no problem and rule without interruptions, 18 TB of data will be 75 hours to copy.  Now, since it is a SAR passes to a Windows system, you probably won't get 4 GB/min so increase this number by 20%.  If the Windows Server on writing virus scanning, add another 10%.  If possible, the best advice I can give you is to do it in logical blocks.  Now, I don't know your data set, so this is not possible.  However, if you have several shares, move an action by end of week to ensure you have enough time to perform the copy and also to correct problems that may occur.

About the tools, I have always used rsync because it allows the two detailed logging and works also in additional line.  Should we get disturbed for any reason, you can pick up where you left off.  Unfortunately, this isn't based GUI.  Also, the rsync 2.6.3 included with OS X is not sufficient to support all the features of file system.  I prefer to build a copy of the last branch 3.  I'll also include some of the patches as indicators of file and compression of hfs.  If it's just data, the patches may not be necessary.  If you need a GUI tool, CronoSync is correct.

And finally, if you find that SMB on Windows is just too frustrating, there's Acronis access connect.  It is a supplement to the Windows Server native AFP and Spotlight.  Over the past years, I was faced with questions SMB through many versions of Mac OS X.  Of course, several questions are in corporate environments where I have no visibility to the configuration of Windows Server.  I have no idea what they are doing on these machines, but I don't know that OS X integration was harsh.

I hope this helps.  Good luck in your project.  Test and test even more before putting forward your end-users.

  • Windows Server backup - Reporting failure, but creates a backup file

Currently have a Server 2008 R2 running. Also runs Hyper-V with 3 than VMS. VM can be found on the D drive, so I have given up trying to save with C, since it was time.

I don't have a setup of daily - just VSS full backup disk Local (c), no bare metal recovery or backup the system state. It's backup on a network drive shared on a different server.

Daily backup status comes back as having failed. However when I go to the destination that the backup must be going, I see a 280 GB VHD file, which is the size expected to see.

The error reported in the Windows Server backup is "one of the backup files could not be created. "Error: the parameter is incorrect".

WSB is horrible to provide crash reports useful on what is the real problem.

Anyone have any idea why it's create a large file of backup, but reported as having failed with this error?

  • previous versions of files available for recovery "windows server backup.

I use "windows server backup" to back up my Windows Server 2008R2 and R2 for Windows Server 2012 boxes.

Using the graphical user interface of 'windows split backup', I can:

o search the various backups on disk

o down through the tree of a given instance of a backup to disk

o select a single file to retrieve

I want to watch all instances of a file that do not exist to recover.  This feature is available in 'windows explorer' by the 'previous versions' tab.  How can I get this same 'previous versions' ability via the 'windows server backup"collect mistletoe?

Are there other utilities (other that the 'windows server backup"recover gui) that allow me to browse the catalog of backup?

Is it possible to browse the catalogue using the powershell cmdlets?

  • Windows Server backup failed

    Hello

We have a problem with our Windows Server backup on our main server. It fails every night and you see disks (5 discs for each day from Monday to Friday) to be offline, even if we can access the data and restore files/folders. We tested another software to backup with one of our readers, and he was properly executed. The event log shows error event ID 561 and 546 "...". the backup failed as no target could be found... "Any ideas what is the cause? As I have said that we ran successfully backup by using one of the players and another software so I don't think it's a hardware problem.

I went again to the [today, both Technet and MSDN,] and received "unable to locate this url" messages for all possible links for this beta trial software product.

I missed a deadline to try this latest server software?

All pages pointing to these links felt a need to sign up for the trial, but I could find no registration link.  When profile pages Microsoft's come-up and all these slots have been filled, and boxes checked, I always "impossible to locate this url" messages

  • How to enlarge the screen of Windows Server 2003 on VMware Server 2?

    People,

Hello. Because Windows 7 is not compatible must be installed to PeopleSoft PIA, I need to install VMware Server 2, and then install Windows Server 2003, which is compatible with PIA, on the virtual machine.

But when I open Windows Server 2003 on the virtual machine, Win2K3 screen is very small, and its size is of about 1/4 of the screen of my computer screen. It is not comfortable to work for a long time.

People know how to enlarge the screen of Windows Server 2003 in a virtual machine VMware Server 2 so that its size covers all of my computer screen?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you already installed the VMWare tools in your guest OS in VMWare? In general, it helps a lot to be able to redefine a larger screen definition.
