• How to separate yourself from the competition?

  Hi all

  I just lost a small site to redo at a college grad who me - underbid by how well... I do not know. I came to the realization that I'm more a dinosaur... everyone and their grandmother doing Web design these days. No offense to those who begin, who are new to web design, but I have a ton of experience and can do a lot for the customers. Guess my question is - how can I I separate myself from others? How do I not bid myself without a job? Is there anything I can add to my experience? I have a lot of experience with CSS HTML (of course), ASP, Javascript and some JQuery - what more can I add? Learn for free? In my view, that I can't compete more. The competition in my area is very rough - whenever I get my Craigslist post interest - but nobody never following through their interest - how get YOU a job? I realize, I can be in competition with some of you out there - and I understand that some may be reluctant to answer... I have a family and a mortgage as most of you do too - I know these are difficult times... I just think that it should somehow add more to my portfolio to become more impressive to a potential customer

  No doubt, but this time are difficult at the moment.  Interestingly, 80% of my business comes from a small group of customers repeat.  In the last year or two, we have experienced a strange change. People who formerly did very little of promotions are more and people who made frequent promotions are less.  Go figure!

  Find a niche.  If you know how to generate rock em sock em shopping carts, or Content Management Systems further promote as an expert in these areas. If you have specialized or of the Certification exams, remember to include it in your promotional material.  Target companies and small businesses in your neighborhood with a package on a basket or a CMS site.  Once you have them as clients and they know how good you are, it is usually easier to keep coming them back and, hopefully, they will tell you a friend or co-worker about your services

  Don't be afraid to do the networking.  Tell your neighbors, friends and others come you into contact with the people that you are an experienced web developer and you are looking for new customers. Keep a WAD of business cards in your pocket and don't be shy about distributing them to everyone.

  Of course, you can't compete with the students or "nephews" who work for pennies on the dollar.  But you can educate prospects on what they can expect expert built site vs a substandard wesbsite.  Always keep a cheap site costs more in staff time, loss of customers and money to rebuild again later.

  Put yourself in your customer's shoes.  Customers are looking for the best value for their money now more than ever.  If you can build a site for a store of brick & mortar that initiates 50 000 new customers over 2 years and more in 5 years, an initial investment of $10,000 on a web site seems to be a good deal.  In addition, if your site automates the tasks that were performed by 1 staff member full time, you added more value to the client backup project 1.5 times his annual salary & releasing upwards for more lucrative work for the company.  Believe in yourself.  Believe in your product.  Project value above customers with longevity and price will see it your way.

  We know that DBMS exploit several technique to ensure the integrity of data and meet the ACID properties, when there are several transactions that run simultaneously in a concurrency environment. • Startup of FireFox as empty after I changed the settings with the word chrome

  My problem went from bad to very bad as follows
  (1) when I pressed a new tab, Firefox would add a chrome url address that I didn't.
  So I did some research and it seems that I need to change browser.newtab.url and set it to "subject: empty.

  This would have been fine, but I went far
  (2) I did a search for the word "chrome" and a lot of parameters came I went and changed anything, I could and make their framework "subject: empty.

  When I restarted Firefox, then it started as a small square box and there is nothing in it. No menu, no shortcuts, just nothing.
  So I thought I would uninstall and try the latest version.
  (3) in the control panel and uninstall then install version 33.
  And it is still a small box without content. It is as if the parameters were still held, even if I uninstalled and reinstalled a new version.

  Hello, please go to your profile folder (profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data) and rename the file named prefs.js in something like old prefs.js.

• How can I move the home button between the front and the address bar?

  Who told you that was incorrect, as far as I'm concerned. Firefox is more customizable than the 'competition', but not as much as the previous versions were.

  The home button can be moved, but the back / button drop-down list is set to the address bar - they cannot be separated.

  The combo Stop / Reload button is locked in the address bar.
  
  The 'old' activity indicator has disappeared. Deemed unnecessary with the animation of loading on the left corner of each tab, where the favorite icon once the page is completely loaded.

I'm already downloading my entry for the contest this afternoon, but after I clicked 'next', the server went down, and I couldn't access the site anymore. I am aware that the competition is until 23:59 on 31 July in PST, when I was downloading my entry it was only 03:00 PST on July 31. I'm afraid that the server would be down to the date of the deadline and I won't be able to present my video entry that I and my team have been very passionate and spent our time, effort, and resources to produce from now, it is already 04:58 31 July in PST. • How can I install more than one version of Firfox and block older versions of update while allowing one to continue the update version?

  I need to have several versions of FF installed for training and testing purposes, but I can't keep the old versions of update. All versions will be putting automatic regardless of Auto-setting adjustment on day of wide or suggest.

  You really need a separate profile for each Firefox version you installed, in order to avoid the update of questions and to trigger a "scan" of addons every time that a profile is started with a different version. In addition, the preference to disable updates lies in the profile, and you can't have both ways in a profile.

• Just me, or is the 50g low in solving differential equations?

  Hi all

  I used Ti-89 s widely in the past, as well as the Ti-NSpire CX CASE and now the 50 g for about 1.5 years. I love some aspects of the 50g (sensation of keys, ease of unit, RPN conversion), but I can't help but notice some areas where it reallllly hangs out of the competition.

  It is an example that I really noticed recently in solving differential equations. So far, several examples I've tried (all immediately resolved by my Ti - 89 and Nspire CX CASE), the 50g smothered on each.

  A very simple example: solve y "= - 9.8, with boundary conditions y (0) = 2.9 and y'(0) = 3.8.  This can be solved by hand in about one minute, but the 50g can't do. If I input ['d1d1Y (X) =-9.8' ' Y (0) = 2.9 ' ' d1Y (0) = 3.8 '] in level 2 on the stack, then 'Y' on a level and then run desolve, it returns "Error: Undefined result.

  I missing something here, or is - this really unable to resolve such a differential equation based? I thought that advanced and 'better' mathematical capacity HP CASE was meant to be one of the reasons why it takes precedence over offers from Ti, but I must say, so far I do not see that.

  I don't like updates of firefox, trying to be more and better than the competition, I get it. However, each update is incompatible with Java 100% and where people who work together and makes these updates are not aware, the world wide web all use Java. Why would anyone want to use firefox, when they can't even use the internet?

  JavaScript is not Java, as said and JavaScript is part of Firefox, so nothing to update.

  Regarding the Flash go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to see if it detects and if you have the latest version.

  Maybe, probably not.

  Is your Mac faster when near the time Capsule, when in the living room?  There is a good chance, with a local access point will help.

  When you look at the WiFi menu bar icon.  You have full bars (good), or is it partial (perhaps a repeater would help)?

  If you 'Option' click the WiFi icon is your in-30, - 40, - 50 RSSI value '?  and your noise value in the - 80-90, you are actually pretty good.

  Then chances are that you get a signal strong enough.

  You can check all the contradictory signals in your area via 'Option', click the WiFi icon--> select Wireless Diagnostics

  In the Wireless Diagnostics menu find "Utilities", then select the Wi - Fi Analysis tab, or the menu will just sweep "Wi - Fi", you choose (depends on when Apple changed the Wireless Diagnostics menus.

  Performs a Scan of Wi - Fi will show you your's and your neighbor's WiFi access points.

  You want to focus on the channels, the RSSI and sound columns.

  Channels: You don't want to use the same channel as a neighbour, unless their SECURITY is very low (-70, of-80 to-90), _and_ your RSSI is strong (-30,-40,-50).  If it is a 2.4 GHz channel, you also a 5-channel separation between you is your nighbor harder.  Channels 1, 6 and 11 do not overlap and are common choices, especially if you have several access points in your home.  Once again, if the neighbors have weak signals, you don't really care, because you interfere not with them, and they do not interfere with you.

  5 GHz channels do not overlap and are also much faster than the 2.4 GHz channels.

  But that doesn't mean that you do not want to play with this material.

  We know the Apple Time Capsule.  Is the "wireless Station" an Airport Express?  Or some 3rd party WiFi router/AP to access?

  If an Airport Express Terminal, you can use Airport utility to extend your network.  Is not ideal, but easy to install.  Just make sure when you put the Airport Express is a place where it receives a good signal of the time Capsule, otherwise it's just trying to spread the wrong signal as it gets.  Wireless diagnosis can be useful to identify a good location.

  A performance-based approach is to run the Ethernet of the time Capsule to what is your WiFi Station.  Set up the device, then it shuts down its functions of router (Apple calls this 'bridge', other Mode to do this disable you DHCP and NAT services).  You give the WiFi Station a different channel (see above discussion of channel overlap).  You give the WiFi Station the exactly the same WiFi (SSID) name and the password.  Now you will have setup a network of 'Roaming', where the devices will pass you to a different when access point channel it uses currently becomes too low.

  Another criterion for speed, is how fast your ISP connection vs how old is your WiFi router.

  If you use 5 GHz channels, you can then begin to worry about this when your ISP speed starts to become well above 50megabits/s

  If you use only 2.4 GHz channels, 15-25' ish speeds are OK on 802.11 g.  802.11n is a little more efficient and can tighten increasingly close to 40-50' ish speeds.

  If you have more than 100megabits per second, you want to have a router with 802.11ac protocols up-to-date and a newer Mac with 802.11ac support.

  This requires that you are the only consumer of your ISP connection.  If you share with your family, and there are lots of type YouTube and Netflix streaming, so your Mac doesn't have to have 802.11ac, but you don't want to a fast router in support of all the other devices sharing the bandwidth.  In this case a 2nd access point connected via ethernet can help share the problems of band radio bandwidth.

  I have access to 5 GHz 802.11ac very cheap $10 point (not a router), I take with me.  I plug it into the ethernet port on the hotel or a router condo rented for give me a channel which is not sung from neighboring access points and shared connections.  I find that the hotel WiFi is often low, and you share the connection with a ton of other guests.  In a rented condo, you have tons of other condos all competing for 2.4 GHz channels (co-owners often get a cheap router 2.4 GHz 802.11 g, so everyone tries to find a channel not used).  Having my own 5 GHz WiFi access point means that I have no need to fight with others for bandwidth and the right channels.

  Just thought I'd pass that along.  And the wireless diagnostic tests are a great way to find out what the competition is where you stay.

• Question about the new Yoga 10 HD +.

  A few questions about the new Yoga 10 HD + that I hope you can answer.

  I bought the former model, last year. Love the design and long battery life, but a few major questions made me return.

  • Somewhere that I've read that it can not read NTFS on USB so I guess that's the same thing with a NTFS formatted microSD card?
  • Can it read exFAT formatted microSD cards?
  • Anyone who has questions about the audio via bluetooth?
    (I know that BT is not exactly High End HiFi but the old 10 Yoga for some obscure reason - most likely a driver problem which nobody cared to fix - rang * very * worst with visibly distortion while both my phone and a Tablet noname cheap I have zero about fidelity - any of my devices bluetooth audio) I tried aptX or not)

  So to avoid buying it back it also I really I would like to see if I can get my questions answered before buy you.

  While I love the form factor and long term issues above are only two Mayor dealbreakers for me. Bad audio quality = no joy listen to spotify, local etc. MP3s. not of NTFS or exFAT = some great movies.

  My old noname android Tablet really could use an upgrade so I'm really curious it may be, or I should watch the competition and will be form factor and battery LIFE.

  I mean with Linux Android root, it should be a no-brainer to support at least when it comes to royalties unlike NTFS or exFAT where it * might * have some trouble with Microsoft.

  I used a USB through a USB OTG cable. NTFS or exFAT have been recognized by the Tablet PC. FAT32 is seems to be the preference.
