The evil of rooting

In absence of Matt and Mark - which are too upset by todays new caring for this forum - I offer my services as an administrator. It is a voluntary duty but I'll wait a few renumeration of Motorola. Let's discuss it behind closed doors.

I have to be very severe and remind users that all referenece to rooting is strictly and absolutely PROHIBITED by the Motorola company. I will not comply with any reference to this filthy and dirty practice that has the by-product of unfortunate to make work much better phone and free from the influence of the control of Motorola. It makes me sick.

Any reference or links to it are to be decided the deaf fist of Motorola. I will too repression any reference to the rom adlx works really well the Dext.

Modding - link removed. Yes display modding links are not allowed here. There are many other sites that allow it. See the poster on properly.

  • Help, I changed the password of root ESXi via powerCli, now I can not connect with the web client or the console.

    Help, I've changed the root ESXi via powerCli password, now I can not connect with the web client or the console, but I can still connect to powerCli. The command I used was;

    SE connect-VIServer esxihostname-user root - password newpasswd

    This production network btw, I have connected to each host and run the above command, these ESXi hosts are not on a domain

    y at - it something I have left out. I really appreciate any assistance that you people can provide.

    Thank you, Joe

    It is probably a longshot, but a lot of things in the land of windows is not sensitive to capital letters as Unix is.  I wonder if your new password you put through powerCLI mixed uppercase in it and if the capitalization was abandoned by command windows powerCLI Analyzer, or he interpreted as all capitals or something.   If you can still get through the powerCLI you could try to reset the password again to something simple without capitalization mixed case and if your password on ESXi strategy requires a special character, try something different than a "$", like a "_" (I find that a '_' is less likely than some other special characters (, as a '-' or a ' / ' to cause problems with analyzers.).

    Edit:

    Another thing, you can try before playing with the password once again, is to create a different username ESXi using powerCLI and see if the password ends up what you think, it should be, and if you can get with the client vsphere using it.  In this way, you can find out if there are some problems with certain characters or Cap through command powerCLI Analyzer without losing your remaining root by powerCLI access.  After some tests, you can understand what went wrong with your initial password change and may be able to fix it with less risk of losing access.  I also assume that you can not create a new username on ESXi who is able to change the root password no matter what authority give you it, otherwise, you could create a new username with PowerCLI, then connect to the client vsphere with it and change the password to root from there.

  • Reset the password of Root ESX 3.0.1

    I'm looking to reset the password on an ESX 3.0.1 host where I have an another account setup.  It's as easy as just connect to the ESX host via the VI Client with another account (this is preferred) and reset the root password in there? I presume that this wil have no impact to the performance of services?

    I know there is a way to do it through the console to start up but my host is in a Data Center remote with no active bit and really, really, I don't want to have to explain the steps to a data center operator, I'll end up banging my head on the desk as always.

    Thanks in advance guys

    See you soon

    D.Misbehavis

    The post, I'm gathering you want to change, but still actually have the root password, so this qusetion is not coming from a recovery access problem, OK? So I guess you still have your original passwd ROOT.

    Since the VIC? Not sure is it possbile to touch and actually "passwd" root.

    But you can grant shell access of account (from the CIE), SSH to the host, "su -" to the root, then ("passwd") to modify the passwd for root.

    Other that you would have to boot into single user and run passwd recovery in this way.

    Hope this helps,

    The System File Check analysis results indicate that there is some degree of corruption in your Vista installation.  Have you tried the following to see if it is solved the error with the 6to4 Adater?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Open the windows Device Manager, open the network adapters, right-click the map of 6to4 and select Uninstall (if you have more than one entry of 6to4, for each of them).  Now in the toolbar, click Action, click Add legacy hardware, click Next, click on install the hardware I manually select from a list, click on network adapters, click Microsoft, click Microsoft 6to4 map, click Next and finish the wizard.

  • Empty Device Manager and for error message "cannot create the enumerated device root need to install Parallels paravirtualization pilot".

    Original title: Device Manager empty

    I have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed in a Bootcamp partition on my Intel iMac. I can detect and install new hardware such as USB keys. However, the Device Manager window is blank - how can I get the window to display the devices connected to the computer? I am also unable to install Parallels tools when I use Bootcamp as a virtual machine. The error message "cannot create the 'root-enumerated device' necessary to install Parallels Paravirualization driver.

    Hey Harcjk,

    For your first question, go through this article.

    None of the items appear in the device list manager when you open
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/311504

    For the second question, here are some suggestions:

    Method 1: Uninstall & install Parallels tools

    NOTE: we highly recommend you make a backup of the virtual machine before you continue.

    a. start your virtual machine and cancel the installation of Parallels Tools Wizard.

    b. Click Start--> Panel--> Add / Remove programs and remove the Parallels tools in the list of applications.

    c. restart Windows.

    d. install the Parallels tools by clicking on the Virtual Machine--> install the Parallels Tools.

    Method 2: Uninstall antivirus software

    If the problem persists, try the following:

    Temporarily uninstall all the antivirus software to the virtual machine and repeat steps of the "Uninstall & install Parallels Tools" section above.

    Note: Don't forget to install the back antivirus software, once the problem is resolved.

    Method 3: Uninstall, clean & install Parallels tools

    Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following windows Help article.

    How to back up and restore the registry in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

    a. If the problem persists, try the following:

    b. start Windows.

    c. go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall theParallels Tools if it is present.

    d. go to 'my computer' > 'C' drive > "Program Files" > "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder, if present.

    e. click the Windows 'Start' menu-> 'run' and type 'regedit'. Click OK.

    f. in the registry editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the heading "Parallels Tools" and go to "My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and remove the 'Tools' section.

    g. restart Windows.

    h. now install Parallels tools in the 'VM' menu on the Parallels Desktop menu bar, while Windows is running.

    I hope this helps.

  • Confusion on the bootloader and root Xperia Ray

    Hi.Im using Xperia Ray with ICS 4.0.4
    But I have a few questions that I got confused

    1. What is the difference between the root and the locked bootloader?
    2. How do I know if the bootloader of my phone is locked or unlocked?

    3. If I want to overclock my phone or the Flash custom rom, am I just that root my phone or I need to unlock my bootloader as well?

    Thank you!

    (1) the bootloader is a small piece of code that is used to load an operating system

    While

    Root is the access to the base of the system files. It is a procedure that grants you admin/root on our mobile access.

    After rooting, you can change any file inside your operating system

    To protect the Android operating system against corruption, it is read-only, but after rooting, it becomes writable as well

    (2) (2) connecter connect to companion pc, then try to update

    If the pc companion shows that the software is average updated the bootloader is unlocked

    Even stock track ID stop after the unlocking of the boot

    (3) to flash rom custom, you must unlock the trunk, but just to overclock, you could do with the root so

    Although custom cores are best suited for overclocking

  • How to set the new display root (pop all the screens and screen to push a single root)

    All,

    in my application, the user can move from one screen to the other and back. but as soon as the user has a special screen (such as the password reset screen), should not be able to come back.

    How can I prevent the user to go back? on the iPhone, such a thing is called 'new set root screen' which leads all permeable screens are exploded and that the current screen is on the stack.

    How to proceed on blackberry?

    Thank you

    You can use getActiveScreen to retrieve the screen current and anti-pop who undisplay.

    You can do it in a loop until the last screen is reached.

    not a very good style, but quite possible.

  • Deploy on the device: no root list appropriate?

    I deployed the application several times to the device without a problem and all of a sudden (without changing the code!) I get the following when you start the application error message.

    Deployment jobs, just start fails due to:

    "Eception Exception: invalid path name." Path does not contains a list of appropriate root. See class FileSystemRegistry for more details. »

    What this mean and how can I solve this problem?

    I had the same error ones and simply redeployed on the phone and it worked, but now it doesn't...

    Thank you

  • Uploading to FTP host... only works with the file of the Web server root

    When I download a Muse site to the root of the Web server, everything works as expected with the obvious comparison.

    But if I want to download on a file/folder existing... it doesn't work. Muse download files but no files are added on my Web server.

    I know how to add the path if I do something wrong or there at - it a bug somewhere?

    Thank you.

    I should add that the Muse site emergency or any html Web site doesn't not any sense. Backup is only valid for cms. And this isn't just a copy of the files in the site, it has a copy of the database. Muse has no database. Backup of the Muse - is file.muse, which can be placed anywhere.

    Someone knows what's the problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Elad

    Thank you.

    Okay... where to start? Almost everything is bad or at least very awkward

    (1) do not use the physical path with UTL_FILE, that has been obsolete for many years now. Use directory objects.

    And in fact, you don't even have UTL_FILE here.

    (2) the XML schema must be saved at once, in a separate script.

    Or do you expect to change them as often you must include the part of the record of the proceedings?

    (3) If your input XML document has an attribute xsi: schemaLocation, make sure that you save the schema using the same URL.

    In your example, there is a mismatch: 'my_schema_file.xsd' vs 'xml_schema.xsd' in the register command.

    So, to summarize:

    Create a directory:

    create or replace directory xml_dir as ' / home/myPath ";

    Save the schema (once):

    () dbms_xmlschema.registerschema

    schemaurl-online "my_schema_file.xsd."

    schemadoc-online xmltype)

    BFILENAME ('XML_DIR', '')

    , nls_charset_id ('AL32UTF8') - use the actual encoding of the file here

    )

    local-online true

    genTypes-online fake

    gentables-online fake

    enableHierarchy-online dbms_xmlschema.enable_hierarchy_none

    );

    So here's how I would rewrite the function:

    create or replace function schema_xml_333 (p_tested_xml in varchar2)

    return varchar2

    is

    doc xmltype: = xmltype (bfilename ('XML_DIR', p_tested_xml), nls_charset_id ('AL32UTF8'));

    Start

    return case when doc.isSchemaValid () = 1

    then "XML is valid.

    otherwise "XML is not valid.

    end;

    end;

    /

    Yet once, this will not work if the XML contains an attribute xsi: schemaLocation whose part URL pattern matches the URL used for recording.

    In this case, you don't need the createSchemaBasedXML method.

  • The evil network speed

    Hi all

    I have two ESX, HOST A - B of the HOST, a gigabit of Pentecost on infrastructure gigabit network card.

    Network cards in both armies are recognized in gigabit, but the speed of data transfer on HOST B is comparable to a 100Mbit. I changed the cables, ports on the brewing and the switch panel: no result. All physical cards should be the same speed (evil), but in the vSphere client are "certified" gigabit.

    The virtual switches are configured exactly like those of the HOST

    Hello

    Maybe you should check the physical switch interfaces connected to host B.

    I would check if any errors and the amount of traffic through this interface.

    Best regards
