the H200 controller replacement

Is there a public documentation on the process of replacing a (built-in) H200 all keeping the raid and the data on the disks in tact? From what I understand, this should be trivial and requiring action of couple in bios H200 (what), yet support claims it is "tricky."

Hello Budrumi

To my knowledge, there is not a walk in this procedure.  Here is the link to the H200 user guide: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/Storlink/H200/en/index.htm

The process should be simple enough. All you need to do is swap on the controller and then import the configuration of readers on the new controller. If you replace the controller with other thing than a H200 so it cannot work.  Each controller writes a little different metadata.  If you stay with the same manufacturer, in this case, LSI, then there is a chance that it will work.  If you switch to a S100/S300; which is produced by Dot Hill, then it is highly unlikely that it will work.  Our 4 PERC are when we started to move to LSI, so you shouldn't have to worry about Adaptec.  All the controllers we currently sell for this server will be LSI or Dot Hill.

Data is stored on disks and the configuration of the table is cached on the controller.  Is there a conflict between the controller and the information on the disks, then you will receive an offset or a foreign configuration error.  All you have to do is to import the information from readers to the controller to create a new configuration of the controller file.

Thank you

  • The PERC S300 controller replacement

I want to upgrade a server PowerEdge R310 Windows Server 2008 R2 to R2 2012. Unfortunately the PERC S300 is not supported and I could not find the necessary drivers.

I found that PERC H700 has the correct drivers and is compatible with the R310, can anyone confirm that please?

Are there cheaper alternatives? Otherwise, I think I have to disconnect the PERC controller and connect the drives to the internal SATA ports, but then I have 4 independent drives with no RAID either because the PERC S100 embedded is not as well supported... (is there a SW raid solution?)

    Thank you

The H700 is a controller that is supported on the R310, but you must do a clean install or backup/restore.

The H310 is also supported by the R310.  It is a hardware RAID controller low end and would also require a reinstall/restore.

The S100 can handle a direct migration of the S300 disc, but when you read, it is not supported in 2012 either.

You can move the disks to the SATA onboard and get rid of the S300, but there was also a clean installation/restore.  If you did the onboard SATA (in AHCI/no RAID), there was no RAID managed by the system, but you can configure RAID under Windows, which would provide at least some redundancy.  Performance is not worse than the S series controllers.

My advice?  Never skimp on storage, no matter what it is used for.  Always get the top of the page (H7x0) controller when you configure a server.

Well, in general it s is not possible to replace or update the graphics card.
But I compared a Satellite Pro M70 unit because this series of laptop was delivered with different hardware configurations and I found that these installed graphics cards:

ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600SE 128 MB of video memory
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X 700 256 MB of video memory

However, in my opinion you can not change the graphics card

  • Aurora R4: newly installed SSD running in G2 / SATA300 - how can I 'persuade' the SATA controller to run at G3 /SATA600?

Good evening.  I was a little indecisive on the place where this post, but I think it's the right place.

I just replaced the main drive in my Alienware Aurora R4 with a SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD... works perfectly (and quickly).  I realized a clean Windows 10 Pro (x 64), generation to level to the latest version.  I'm not using RAID.

The SDS is properly installed and connected in the location SATA01.

This Aurora R4 has the "Dell", well actually "Intel" Patsburg 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller (revised A7), capable of handling G3 / SATA600.  However, two DVD players work to G1 / SATA150 and all four disks are running at G2 / SATA300.

I have the latest driver for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology, confirming a transfer rate SATA 3 Gb/s for my SSD (and the other three HARD drives).

How can I convince the computer I want to optimize my SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD performance, with the rate of transfer running at G3 / SATA600?

I searched on through the value of the library of web pages, but not found a solution.  I was hoping that it would be a BIOS problem (installed last), is a question of the SATA controller firmware, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver allows no fiddling, so I drew a blank there.

Knowledge advice would be warmly received, especially if you have a R4 Aurora that runs a G3 SSD / SATA600!

    Hi Domo_P1000,

You can search the forums to Alienware for help with this. I found this relevant thread.

  • migration of APs to the 5508 controller 4402

    Hello all,.

We have two controllers (4402 and 5508) to one of the site.

    Customers of services at present.

Both controllers have the same set of SSID but uses only a single group of AP.

What would be the best means to move APs on 4402 to 5508?

4402 services series years 1230 and 1240 AP. And looking at the note accompanying the WLC 7.6 code located on 5508,

years 1240 only are supported. So, we will need to get the replacement of the years 1230.

Someone suggested to go into every single years 1240 and change high availability for point to 5508 as primary and secondary 4402

(just in case the AP don't is not the controller) 5508 Once this is done, I can add the AP in the access point default of the group to broadcase the same SSID.

Is it enough for the task of migration?

Also, what is the requirement of default design for the number of necessary uplinks?

We have about 150 APs currently on 5508 that uses Group LAG of 1 4 uplinks.

Regarding the 4402, it is service 60 APs with 1 2 uplinks.

Thus with the APs on 4408 joining the 5508, 5508 serves about 210APs. 4 1 enough uplink is?

What is the best practice recommended requirement of uplink AP?  APs on 5508 are 3602 s and 3702 s.

    Thank you in advance.

P.S. BTW two controllers are part of the same mobility group

Someone suggested going into every single 1240s and change the high availability to point to 5508 as primary and 4402 as secondary.(just in case the AP does not join the 5508 controller.) Once that is done, I can add the AP into the default AP group to broadcase the same SSIDs.Is that enough for migration task?

Yes, it is sufficient. Unless 5508 have the same available on 4402 AP group name, all years 1240 migration goes into default-group & you may need to add to the good group of AP. It is advisable to have same AP group created between the controllers where AP configured for failover.

Don't forget 1240 last took in charge in 8.0.x code. In order to better plan as well before moving on to 8.1 replacement code (expect less than 1-2 months of time). See below for more details compatibility matrix

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

Also what is the default design requirement for the number of uplinks needed? We have about 150 APs currently on 5508 which uses LAG group of 4 1G uplinks. Thus with APs on 4408 joining the 5508, 5508 will roughly serve 210APs. is 4 1G uplink sufficient?

4G LAG is more that sufficient for 250 AP, I'm sure that together the traffic will be much less of 4G if monitor you the traffic volume of the art on this trunk links.

What is the best practice recommended AP to uplink requirement? APs on 5508 are 3602s and 3702s.

I guess that all of these AP connected to 1 Gbps switch compatible PoE ports +. If your binding rising intercommutation is 1 Gbit/s, which would be the bottleneck, WLC to SW LAG before becoming a bottleneck.

  • failure of the graphics controller envy14t-1000 flashes code?

For laptop of HP Envy 14-1000. i5 - 450 M, Radeon 5650 M. Out of warranty. New installation of Windows 8 Professional on an OCZ Agility SSD 4.

At startup, caps lock flashes code indicates a failure of the graphics controller. Stays on for 2-5 minutes, but will then start Windows. This indicates imminent failure and a replacement motherboard is necessary, or is it the result of something else?

On your laptop, there are several codes of different flashing given by a flashing caps lock key. You say that it is the graphical model controller failure error light. Use this document to make sure it is the correct error code.

The ENVY of laptops series have their GPU soldered onto the motherboard. So if you've got a controller failure graphics card you might have to replace the entire motherboard of the laptop. This interview is possible to do it yourself, although difficult. Even if you specify your product is out of warranty, I suggest to contact HP Technical Support again and look in an interview of the laptop. If you are in the USA / Canada, you can contact HP at 1-800-474-6836. If you are outside the United States / Canada then here try to find contact information for your region.

  • Remove the SCSI controller change question of VMWare

    $dev.operation = "Edit."

    $spec. DeviceChange += $dev

    }

    1. Add the new controller

However when I try to start the virtual machine Via code, it gives me an error saying that the virtual machine has questions to be decided.

This is the question asked by VMWare:

sg.disk.AdapterMismatch: the disk attached to the node SCSI0:0 has been created for the Buslogic SCSI adapter but SCSI0 Virtual Machine device is a SCSI LSI Logic card.

Do you think Vmware ESX Server to change the type of adapter for SCSI0:0 disk

    Start-VM - $vm VM - confirm: $false

    $vm | Get-CDDrive. Game-CDDrive-connected: $true - confirm: $false

I don't know if you can remove the question, but you can respond with the Set-VMQuestion cmdlet.

  • Failure of hard drive in Dimension 8250, the maximum size and the type of replacement tips please

Dimension 8250 (Feb 2003), Windows XP Home SP2, 60 GB HDD, 512 MB of RAM, BIOS A01 - entirely standard

My hardrive suffers from weird deaf noise for a few months, but last week, it was a lot worse. Sometimes it starts up and is ok, othertimes it takes 1 hour to start and everything produces the deaf noise and is so slow, that it's unusable and other times simply clunks and not even start.

    Error messages received:

    (a) "drive Dell, monitoring system has detected that drive 0 on the primary Eide controller is out of normal, backup specifications and replace the HARD drive.

    (b) "error was detetcted on the HARD disk during the paging operation" (in the event viewer)

    (c) "driver detetcted a controller the HARD disk error" (in the event viewer)

    (d) when I run the Dell IDE Drive Diagnostics (F12), it says FAILED return Code 6

    Issues related to the:

    (1) am I correct that the drive needs replacement?

    (2) I want to just keep it very simple and buy a drive and adapt it, do not worry about BIOS or other upgrades. What I do pay attention to the size car that I buy, is there a maximum size that I can have with BIOS A01? Maybe thought to 120 GB? I just want to be able to adapt, without having to play around with BIOS upgrades so simply the easiest option, which is to buy, set up and reinstall the software. So, is there any limitation integrated with BIOS A01? The recovery CD is XP SP 1

    (3) am I correct that the PC supports up to 100 ATA if you need to make sure that I buy ATA 100 no ATA 133?

    (4) original drive is Hitachi, Seagate Barracuda would be better?

    (5) think active drive a 2 MB cache, a cache 8 MB drive would work ok without me having to pay anything and if yes is it useful on the 2 MB cache?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

To my knowledge, the warranty will cover battery for one year.
In my opinion it should be no problem with the battery replacement if the warranty is valid.
In this case, contact the Toshiba service partner in your country and ask for help.

By the way: as Sam mentioned in the post above only are not all but only some notebooks between March and may was affected and there could be only one problem with the loading and unloading of procedure.
